Car care nut has a good video on the recall. He made a good point that trading in a 3rd Gen tundra right now is probably a bad idea you'd take a bigger hit on value than if you wait until after the fix is out.
The third gen Tundras, because of the recall are greatly devalued right now. There are a lot of them on the market right now. Even if yours is not part of the recall, there are engine failures being reported in 24’s. I think there’s a lot of hesitation in buying any Tundra. If you’re looking for 2nd gen Tundra, check out what’s for sale in Arizona and California. Our trucks don’t rust!😂
@@TRDJon Should thought about that when you purchased all those vehicles at once John. Specially when the idiots running the country have destroyed the economy.
@@TRDJonVery informative and worth the watch. He even states and shows that the oil pick up and main flow to crank shaft bearing is same design as the 5.7l.
I just got off the phone with Untamed. He said he spent the Saturday afternoon walking around the Toyota dealership measuring the gaps off each Tacoma with his pecker. It got stuck in one of the gaps and as he tried to pull it out he started yelling "4BANGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
I did the same thing, sold my 23 tundra then was able to get into a 21 tundra that’s paid off. So glad I got out of my car payment and I prefer the second gen tundra. Never had an issue with my gen 3 but it felt flimsy/cheaper built. I like old school v8, no stop/start crap etc
I don't think dealers are offering within the trade value range on 3rd gen tundras at the moment. They didnt for me last week when i traded mine and i know my saleman. I got a bunch of rebates off the truck i bought so it was still worth it. carmax offered me even less than the dealer for the tundra. 22 limited trd OR 18k super clean. Just figured I'd share my experience.

@TRDJon, I totally understand the financial reasons for the sale of the 3rd gen. My sister-in-law and her husband have purchased property over that past two decades and another 10 acre track recently. All have significantly appreciated in the past few years. With the continued migration of people into FL, you will likely accrue equity quickly, allowing you to do other interesting projects on the channel.
I have owned both Gen 2.5 platinum and now a 3 Platinum. Both are enjoyable in their own way. Recalls happen. Couldnt convince me to get back into the 2.5. Most people hating on the Gen 3 have not driven or even owned either Tundras. Great content. Enjoy your videos.
Lol at the experts. It’s academic as to what you’re doing. Land grabbing is a good investment. If the price is right. Go for it. The content that you could put on with the 2nd gen make over would be cool.

I would buy a Canadian truck, I have and had a hard time trading when the time came. Rust issues and Speedo changes on them are the reasons I was told here in Ohio.

@TRDJon yeah there's guideline requirements that must be met that sometimes may be non sensible to a borrower seeking a loan. You can always apply for the financing and just keep the possibility that you'll need to get rid of your auto loan as a backup plan if DTI needs to be lowered.
Never buy a car or truck from Ohio. They have zero safety inspections, and if it runs you can drive it in Ohio. Ohio is one of the only paces you can buy a whole car from a junkyard, do the absolute minimum to get it running and away you go. The POS's that you see on Ohio roads is shocking.

Noo, nothing from Canada. I've seen too many used and abused from workers in the oil fields that are rusting and corroding tons even with super low miles. Definitely something from a dry climate would be preferable.

2nd Gen Tundra is AWESOME! I have a ‘21 Pro in Magnetic Gray. I will never get rid of it, even if I buy another truck or other vehicles down the road. The old school 5.7 is such a great engine and combined with the TRD exhaust it’s just such a joy to drive with all windows down.

I can deal with old tech and poor mpg for reliability, between having issues with the transmission on a newer highlander and seeing all the problems lately I think Toyota might be on the downturn.
There are some issues for sure and they are identifying the machining issue for the tundra and fixing it. Unfortunately it’s gonna let the brand take a hit for sure
