      👍they are so easy to root. If you’re in the northern hemisphere it’s nearly time to take some cuttings.

    Weeping willows are one of my favorites. Great idea with the floating of the cutting. I had 3 from our pond side, and they died after transferring from water to soil. Ill have to give it another go. Nice tree bro!!!😎😎😎

    I found myself saying “JESUS” at multiple points in the video in response the the backbudding. Truly a vigorous little specimen. It’s been engrained in my mind from watching Nigel’s videos for so long that willows have massive and unpredictable die-back. Is this your experience? Could it just be the Canadian winters?

      It’s quite the backbudder. I can’t really remember if it’s died back. I think some branches have, but there is that many I havnt noticed. We will see what happens this year. I did notice before I left London that the tree I took it from had a huge branch die. Looked crazy in between all the foliage.

    what role do they have?

    why do you put those big stones on the substrate?

    • @BackGardenBonsai
      @BackGardenBonsai  2 года назад +1

      they are for weight. they stop it blowing over/ away. doubly important when the tree is just repotted. If it falls over at this point soil goes everywhere and so does the tree. ...but by the middle of summer there is usually enough roots that if it where to fall over it would remain togther and just need put back up

    I have a weeping willow tree too that I cut off a tree in the park . I wonder if it's to late in the season to trunk chop it back a little more it's quite tall what's your info on this?👍

      I would wait until late winter/early spring. Then there is not much time between it being cut and the tree around it growing. Less of a window for infection or anything wrong happen.
