I like those shears that you used to cut the die back, what kind are they please? Maybe available on Amazon? Thank you!

I have a bunch of the same cuttings in 3 gallon bags outside and this summer they all grew huge. I'm trying to bonsai one to see how it goes but not sure what to do for Michigan winter yet. I'll just have to experiment and watch videos! Lol

So with the last cutting that has some roots started up from the bottom, would those be suitable for a root over rock or above ground level roots?

Yeah, you could definitely leave the roots long and wrap them around a rock if you like that style. There're endless ways to use this type of bonsai material.

I bought willow cuttings online as well. I got 3 varieties: Green, Globe and Golden. They sent one thick cutting each and several thinner ones. I put all of them in water and set them on a heating mat. After a month, many have rooted, but none as vigorous as yours. And some, especially the globes, are rotting. Was the heating the problem?

Hmmm I don't know. It could be the variety I happened to get is more vigorous or disease resistant. I had also been trimming them to every week or two to keep them from contacting my grow light, and keep the dying tips off of the roots as they grew up past the water level. I think that promotes more ramification as well, which could lead to more vigorous growth. Hopefully yours will take off as well!

The large one has died. The clump of smaller ones is still alive but still dormant since the repotting.

@@samsbrosbonsaiwhy did the large one die? I keep reading reviews of cutting for weeping willow on Amazon. And I’m starting to go crazy like are the ppl killing them or is the product bad 😂
