Wow this is wild! I've been meaning to make a video about WaW veteran causing red screens without jug for a while now, but I never realized it actually affected your healtg regen speed as well
I remember people talking about a glitch in bo1 zombies where you stop getting red screen. I feel like it happened to me but it might just be Mandela effect. But I definitely heard about it. So that's what it was after all...
If you play on Pluto you can fix it, but make sure to turn it off before playing something like Shi no numa, as I discovered a bug with the dogs a couple months ago with the dvar turned on
@TheTicassShow that's why I love the waw remasterd mod it fixes the wunderwaffle no jug bug on that map I've been experimenting with the 24 limit on der rese and of course I die from the dogs cuase the dogs in that mod are worse than the dogs on shi no numa with how they can ocanily 1 to 2 hit u even with jug

I guess... But the walk speed exploit isn't crazy. It literally just makes you walk the same speed in all directions. The default walk speed is 190 units forward, like 170 backwards, and 155 left and right. When enabling the exploit, it just makes you walk 190 units in all directions. The same as on console. A PC exclusive exploit though is the 125fps jump boost. That can only be done on PC. And is worth it. You jump further and can accelerate mid air.
@@majikwaffle9436 Yeah... But this boost doesn't give you a higher jump, but a longer jump. Setting the game to 125fps gives you slight mid air acceleration, allowing for longer jumps. It also works in WaW and I'm pretty sure BO2. It is the preferred fps for all high rounders.
i also agree that there should be separate categories, but only 2 like on moon with no astronaut or with astronaut, either "original" or "changed difficulty," cause that way people can try to optimize which difficulty would be best for each map and it would make multiple difficulty settings potentially viable for certain maps so there's more than one way to play for one common record. Would add a lot of depth to just one category rather than having so many categories for one map
It's also so game breaking it's insane, but most players at the time always thought that Regen was like a random thing in call of duty anyway, we didn't have the raw numbers that we do have today
the fact that this video/glitch isnt more popular by how much it DEVALUES any console run is INSANE, any other speedrunning game or category would immediately take action to keep the integrity of their category. the difference between 3 seconds --- 1.2 seconds would easily save many downs for high skill players by taking longer trains to regen before going for a risky pass.
This is super cool, I agree with you. This should be allowed in ZWR it would make runs so much more interesting and cooler in zombie speedruns or high round games.
I knew something was familiar after I beat world at war and black ops campaigns on veteran, and then playing zombies with that red screen stuff in the damages how that works or some thing
Watching you repeatly jumping through fire trap on ascension i can confirm i have definitley played games where jumping through twice like that would kill you if you had taken any damage at all
Well... Looks like before I boot BO1 zombies up anymore, I better switch difficulty to hardened. I'm not a high rounder, but, I definitely do like zombies more than a casual player, so this awesome tech to be learing. It works on console too, right? Not just PC? I hope so. So even my casual games will be easier. Sure traps do more damage, and you red screen with fewer hits. But that regen speed pretty much negates all those effects in my eyes. Edit: It seems to work on console. I tried it on PS3. It does feel a bit weird, but once you get used to it, it is very nice. Although, it is buggy. I've noticed a few times it seems like I get hit faster. I've insta-downed in 3 hits by one zombie in less than a second before. Which is very odd. But easily avoidable if you just don't get hit all the time. The faster Regen is very nice, and has saved my ass multiple times, but that fast triple hit bug is a bit of a doozy without Jug, thankfully it is very rare, I've only had it happen about 4 times in the 5 or so hours I played.
Cool I had some trouble getting harfened and veteran to work on cosole and some other people thought it was patched out. If it works for you I would like to know more.
@@spacetimewarper Yeah. I just launch the campaign on hardened, and play a little bit of the first campaign mission. Up until the part where you rappel down into the map with Woods. Once I get to that part of the game, I quit out, and to make sure the difficulty changes are set, I go to the Select Mission tab, and click a mission, if the difficulty screen shows up and highlights hardened as the first option, I assume the difficulty is set to Hardened. When playing zombies, it appears to be true. I have noticed a bit of bug though, at least on PS3. It appears that zombies can sometimes triple slap you for no reason, like they hit faster than their animations show. Which has gotten me killed, but rarely, and typically only before I have Jugg. It's a bit of a weird quirk. But not too awful. Also? Maybe I'm tripping but when I played Der Riese. It seems like more dogs spawn after round 16. Instead of 1 or maybe 2 dogs, I would get 3 dogs in at once very frequently. I don't know though, that could just be a placebo. I've also noticed on the harder difficulty setting, when I'm out of ammo, the red text saying so doesn't appear on screen. Other than these few things, the faster Regen is a really cool thing, I don't get any weird deaths anymore, when I die it always seems like it Is actually my fault. Alright, well, peace. Hope this helps somehow.
@@Group-935 If it is Possible on PS3, It Most Likely Isn't Possible On Xbox 360/Next gen, At least on the Most Up to Date Version. Recruit & Regular Do work as Expected, But Everytime i tried Hardened & Veteran, it just Reverts Back to Regular's Health and Damage Values. I've Done Everything you Said and still it Didn't Work. Same Health Regen, Same Trap Damage as Regular. And To Further Prove This; The Low Ammo and No Ammo Messages do In Fact Disappear on Those Difficulties like you said. (Yeah, that still works surprisingly) So Treyarch's Team on the Xbox 360 must've Noticed this and Patched it at Some point, but the Other Platform Teams Remained Unaware or Ran out of Time... Or they Could've Accidentally Unpatched it in One of the Updates for those Versions. So the only game where you can take full advantage of the Difficulties on the Xbox versions is Currently COD: WAW since they never noticed it until BO1.
@@TIGERBATE Hmm... Interesting. They could have patched this bug more recently, I remember them going in and patching all the 360 versions of COD, at least on Next Gen. So the servers work properly again. So... Who knows? This bug could still work on a regular 360. I can't test it though, I have a 360, but no copy of BO1. So... That is really odd. This bug works on PS3 and PC but so far, not on Xbox. That's a bit silly.
@@Group-935hey quick question man, are you playing on solo in zombies or in custom games? i have done what you said (on ps3) and i dont have the low ammo and no ammo signs meaning i think im or hardened, but i dont have the 3 hit redscreens and i cant tell what im doing wrong
Shouldn’t be categories since like you said, it would be to annoying to tell who’s playing on what difficulty. Let anyone play any difficulty and just make it common courtesy if you changed the difficulty it should be mentioned in the description. If you don’t mention it is still no big deal. Honestly this is more a kin to different vehicles/characters on mario cart, the record may be held using a certain bike but it doesn’t mean it is necessarily the best and allows other veh/cha combinations (or in this case difficulties) to be investigated. Splitting each difficulty into its own categories especially seems like not a good idea since you don’t have loads of activity in the game anyway. Splitting it into categories will effectively make no one run the other difficulties cos the community will pick a “default” and the other categories won’t be ran. Like how usually cod/halo campaigns only have active runners on one or two difficulties.
@@spacetimewarper the problem with separate categories is that it will be useless on the leaderboard sites as the submission count is already sort of low
I think this stuff should be allowed because its not "cheating" per se. Its taking advantage of existing mechanics and adds a neat wrinkle to the BOZ gameplay experience. Its not a mod that gives you more health or makes your gameplay experience easier, its closer to manipulating the code in a way Zombies already allowed. I'd say the same thing if you could guaranteed a wonder weapon by manipulating RNG and stuff. Or buy perks for free using an exploit. And now that you've explained this stuff, we all know what to look out for when people are playing Zombies.
this isn’t like the dead ops arcade backspeed thing, it is too massive of a change to the game and almost nobody in the competitive community wants it to be allowed, we shouldn’t make things easier for the people who suck at the game, its a huge disrespect to the previous world records in my opinion and we should instead be looking for ways to achieve higher rounds
@@llEvelynll I think a better solution would be more categories. As I said before, I personally don't think anything that you can do within a game should be banned unless the change is so extreme that you might as well not even run the category. In this case, it modifies your health, but its not so extreme or discrete that people wouldn't know that the players have a dramatic advantage. I'm fine with this being relegated to its own category of speedruns and times and stuff. This prevents the disrespecting of previous world records too because people who use this glitch/exploit won't be competing against those who don't.
A few other comments have commented similar things already but let us guess how many top runners only got this far using this info as a crutch and decided never to share it....
Only a few runs have used this on waw playing on console where it saves when the game closes I dont know of any bo1 highrounders that used this but if you find gameplay that doesnt have the no ammo, low ammo, or reload text that gets removed when playing on hardened or veteran.
this is insane to me how could no one have noticed this sooner? no one thought of the inconsistency in this stuff in gameplay and looked into the difficulty setting? i dont know it feels like im missing some part of this story cause that doesnt make sense to me
people only noticed the redscreen effect from difficulties a realatively small difference I also have found that bo1 players dont care about things as much
I tried doing this yesterday. Do you need to complete campaign for it to carry over considering that upon completing the last mission on bo1 will load up five. Because I’ve switched the campaign to veteran but I’m not getting red screen on first hit
I think this video is crazy, remember all the videos of people saying you can take extra hits on WaW, but they could’ve been accidentally playing with the campaign DVARs 😲😲
Well, they could also have been meaning about how jug works on verrückt/non-dog rounds on snn being ""inconsistent"" (as that half second timer that the check for jug perk function uses could "activate" instantly after a hit or going on the wait right as you are hit)
Interesting find, not sure how I feel watching you bathe in the ascension fire trap though. Can’t see this improving the maps in BO1 in a good faith way.
sorry if it was mentioned in the video and I missed it but can this be used alongside the dead ops trick? If it can be used does it need to be in a specific order like doa then campaign then zombies?
How would you get it to work on co op for black ops 1? On world at war there is the co op campaign where you pick the difficulty. For black ops 1 would you just load a solo first?
@@spacetimewarper yuh i am on console. i did some more digging but am still not entirely sure how it works. could you explain it for console a little more it you know? im in the works of getting a pc but have been high rounding on console lately / also i appreciate you makin this video. you should upload more, seems like you got some following from this💯
Sorry about taking so long to respond. I am not sure but I think you cant play hardened or veteran on console. Some people say that they have been able to but I haven’t seen any proof. For bo1 its much easier on console. If you only have a console then you could try playing waw if you have it. Changing difficulty works fine on waw.

If this is how the game functions, I don't think its a matter of whether or not this should be allowed. By the way it's programmed, it forces categories to be made because otherwise WRs are competing in a pooled difficulty which takes away any reason to play difficulties other than Hardened. Right?
nobody in the competitive community wants it to be allowed, and when a vote occurs for people who actually play the game then it will probably be banned
@@llEvelynll I also actually play the game, so I'm not sure what you mean by that unless you're trying to gatekeep and have some ego thing going on. I don't competitvely high round, but information that allows the player to make better decisions without breaking the game is a no brainer to allow.
@@lmJonesyy what i meant by that is the people play the game *competitively*, its not gatekeeping anything. Also no that is not always the case, nobody wants it to be allowed because its too much of a change to a game that is already easy, if you need that then you suck at the game, its as simple as that. Not to mention how split the game will be for such a small community.
I personally hate how ZWR does things. I can see this getting banned for absolutely no reason, other than to gatekeep newer players. This makes a miniscule difference, as you've said at best at the end of the day. There's other recent huge discoveries like Carpetless in SM64 that was finally discovered that was a huge time save in 120 stars. It would be the equivalent to saying nice find, but fuck you it's banned kind of thing, which is a huge turn off to glitch hunters and potential new runners. Zombies community is generally pretty toxic when it comes to new discoveries not to mention very rare in sharing knowledge like high round strats if various tricks are found. That's what I got from the community when watching various world record history vids about zombie maps.
About BO1 at least, it's litteraly the opposite. BO1 Zombies community always shared everything and made everything to make the game progress. ZWR does not have any "right" over BO1 community, it's generally just community's feeling overall. I don't know about other games, but BO1 is litteraly the game with the most knowledge shared. Some glitches / things are not allowed to make the game more "healthy", like spawn cancelling (to not make Shangri-la, CotD and Moon too easy), fast ray, to not make a huge gap between people who can do it with a macro at 250 FPS and people who are playing with a controller at 90 FPS, or even glitching the astronaut to not make Moon the most boring and easiest map ever. Pushing rounds is surely cool and impressive, but if it's at the cost of making the game balanced, it's not worth to ruin some maps completly and make them un-interesting to play. ZWR is indeed bad, as it's managed by people who don't have knowledge or experience about that. In my opinion, this doesn't change the game completly for players anyway, as a website's leaderboard doesn't really matter, people just look at the World Record, and they don't really have a say over what competitive players are doing anyway. Let's be honest, no matter what, people will follow most known players. Even though we don't really care about this tech as we kinda want to keep the game as vanilla as possible, I wouldn't care if people were to use it, unless we realize it's making some maps way too broken. It's just all about finding that balance which doesn't make the game become a clown fest. Nothing is made to "gatekeep" new players, it's quite the opposite actually, and there is always valid reasons to ban things, but let's be honest, most votes that were made in zombies community were poorly made as it never gives all the info to people so they can have all the knowledge about something, it's always more of a popularity contest sometimes, just like any vote in life, and people back in days just spammed in their titles or videos to allow / not allow something. Finding a glitch or a new tech, just because it's new, does not mean it should always be accepted, and CotD window tech is the best example. It did push Call of the Dead to 100+, but some people are kinda split about that, and now, try to think from a first room player's perspective, if you're playing 4 players, the game is just standing at windows. On Call of the Dead, it did change the map completly but did not "hurt" the map too much. Instead of using the VR-11 at various spots as soon you get it from the box, you use it at the window, and it my opinion, and from what I experienced, it does not make the map worse or anything, just faster overall. You still have to trade as much, and trading fast + the way you would navigate in the map and make zombies bleed is what makes the map interesting and where you can draw the line between two games. Don't let videos influence your view of zombies community. Get into it and actually get interested in people who are involved instead of listening to what people say...
@@FurretCanWalk Always liked your videos. Can you please list your top 5 craziest glitches in BO1 zombies? Stuff that an average player like me can have fun with.
Well said. I could have made the video better. I do think that the health regen has a good impact on some maps such as Shang and Verruckt while having a poor impact on asc and der.
@FurretCanWalk I do relise that bo1 players prefer the game to be more vanilla. But I wonder what that means in regards to this difficulty DVAR. Now I assumed that it was unintended but after going through the code and how it was patched specifically for public matches but left in private and solo it seems that the developers were working on adding difficulty to zombies but while implementing the ui they stopped. I think that despite the feature being unfinished the things that change are intentional. When they stopped working on it they left a way to play it as long as you weren’t forcing others to play it because you were hosting a public match.
@@spacetimewarper I will keep playing with Vanilla game as we don't have an authority or anything related to that, and I want to make sure my game is considered OK by most people (especially with people trying to discredit my games no matter what lol) I don't really have an opinion on that
No, verrückt jug works through a function, which is LITERALLY called "check for jug perk", and all it does is Check if player has armorvest [jug] Yes? Give player 40 health every 0.5 seconds, until they reach 160
@@Kevaca But how does the glitch work then? I would love to know because it seems like you only sometimes get insane recovery speed which is not what normally happens
@@ignacymoscickifilms670 verrückt jug grants the player 60 more health (100 to 160, a 2 hit to 3 hit) and the "check for jug perk" function gives the player 40 health every 0.5s if they have jug, it's that simple. (It's been half a second, you now went from 40 to 100 health) This was then changed slightly in shi no numa to make it so you only gained 3 health every 0.5s with jug on a dog round Then was completely flipped on its head for der riese, with it instead granting 150 more health (100 to 250, a 2 hit to 5 hit [as zombies do 60 damage in every game to bo3]) and "removing" (by commenting it out) the check for jug perk function
@@Kevaca I get it. But I was under the impression that this only happened sometimes? it really doesn't increase the skill cap because 1.2 second regen will make any good player literally invincible lol. All that allowing this does is decrease the skill required to play hard high round strats, it literally does the opposite of what you are saying. Most "rng" moments you are talking about are most definitely your fault, players dont get good because of their lack of awareness
I'm not sure it's a bug, I will take a look at the code again tonight, but I've seen some mentions of difficulties in the code, and changes according to the difficulty

@llEvelynll bro talks about ds mate I think we can test console but the fire trap destroyed me on recruit on bo1 for kino which I find ok so PC it's optimized
When you Get a Red Screen, Your Health Regen Is Delayed to About 5 Seconds instead of 2.5 Or 1.2 Seconds. Which is Why Using Veteran Difficulty in No Jug or First Rooms Would become a Particularly Difficult Challenge Since you would have to Wait longer between hits to Regenerate due to Each Hit ALWAYS bringing you down to a Red screen State, Rendering the 1.2 Regen Speed Useless. WAW Verrückt/SNN Jug Bypasses the Normal Health regen settings and has its own special health regen speed. (40 HP Every 0.5 seconds) Red screens have no actual effect on that health regen, but will still show a red screen effect depending on your set Difficulty.
@@dazamm8872 I already answered that in my old comment: Verrückt/SNN Jug Overrides the Main Health Regen Stats when you have it, Including Redscreens. So Health Delays from Redscreens don't actually work While Jug is Active. Your Health will always Regen in 0.5 seconds regardless of whether or not you got red screened. Setting the Difficulty to Recruit or The Other Difficulties Doesn't Really Change Anything Involving Jug's Health regen, Unless you want no red screen visuals, or you're planning ahead for situations where you don't have Jug. The Only Thing that the Difficulty will Truly matter on in this case is The Difficulty Based Trap Damage. In that case, you would want to play on Recruit for the least amount of Trap Damage.
@@llEvelynll it would be very hard. You would need to show that you didn’t go into campaign before and many games take hours of resets so you would have to include all that footage so there’s no cuts
@@Steven_Bo1 not really, timing the regen is still very easy to do and also spot if they’re using another difficulty, so if this is disallowed then it will be easy to figure out if they’re using it or not
Sry I was probably wrong I don’t think hardened or veteran work on console. At the time people were saying they got it working. I was able to play hardened on console but it was an xbox that had never been updated. It got patched out on console because the difficulty would save unlike pc where it resets when opening the game.

Cant believe classic zombies is still this prominent and were still learning, i love it.
man i love this game, the older it gets the more depth in it gets found. thanks for making this
i also agree that there should be separate categories, but only 2 like on moon with no astronaut or with astronaut, either "original" or "changed difficulty," cause that way people can try to optimize which difficulty would be best for each map and it would make multiple difficulty settings potentially viable for certain maps so there's more than one way to play for one common record. Would add a lot of depth to just one category rather than having so many categories for one map
Cool, interesting stuff
Thanks
14 year old game and something this simple to replicate was discovered.. unreal
yea I think people knew sorta about the redscreen effects because they are more obvious I think no one knew that it affected health regen
“any other speedrunning game” thats the thing, you can not compare zombies to any other speedrunning community.
honestly after playing with it for a while it isnt as powerful as it sounds
This is super cool, I agree with you. This should be allowed in ZWR it would make runs so much more interesting and cooler in zombie speedruns or high round games.
they could just make separate category if they have a hate boner about it
It's crazy how many situations I've experienced where I can apply this new logic and now it makes so much sense.
I knew something was familiar after I beat world at war and black ops campaigns on veteran, and then playing zombies with that red screen stuff in the damages how that works or some thing
This is actually insane tech more people should be talking about this
I always wondered why i stopped getting red screens at one point in WaW. I always assumed it was patched out for whatever reason.
Watching you repeatly jumping through fire trap on ascension i can confirm i have definitley played games where jumping through twice like that would kill you if you had taken any damage at all
I was just demonstrating the regen and trap damage
@@spacetimewarper yeah I mean it definitely does change it. I would have never thought that was possible.
This is really cool, I hope ZWR implements this the way you said. I'd be a little disappointed if they don't.
they wont at most it might be allowed for waw
Crazy,, glad people are still playing and discovering new things,, time for another high rounds run
Hopefully zwr doesn't do some scuffed vote where only certain players can vote, I get why they do it but it has lead to some bullshit in the past
I remember figuring this out as a kid on WAW but the red screen made me assume it was harder so I swapped back to recruit lol
yep my console was always 1 hit reds without jug
Very cool video! keep up the good work!!
Thanks I never expected this to be so popular.
@@spacetimewarper You earned it bro!! I remember seeing this when it had ~200 views and thinking “man, this is gonna blow up”
This is crazy, changes the experience
Remember this only applies to the current opened game. Once you reopen the game, you'll have to re-do the campaign step.
on pc you have to redo the setup but on console it saves
This would be dumb if it only affect degen, trap damage makes this Goated
That’s insane for Shang kino and Verruckt
Yep and cotd
I like your arguments. Great text!
I would like this but most high rounders wouldn’t so a separate category for other difficulties would be more of a middle ground.
@@spacetimewarper the problem with separate categories is that it will be useless on the leaderboard sites as the submission count is already sort of low
Yea i changed my mind. It should be allowed because it has minimal impact on most runs and most people would play the default anyway
Great vid man I hope you post more
I will especially after the success of this one.
You should make a video on which difficulty is recommended for each bo1 map
I might make a video talking about it in each game and some maps
A few other comments have commented similar things already but let us guess how many top runners only got this far using this info as a crutch and decided never to share it....
you say this as if they knew it existed lmfao
If you could let me know the additional steps you need to do to do this on console please let me know I’d really appreciate it
it works really easy on pc if your on console all you can do is recruit or normal
Yea on WaW console the dvar saves so if you played on veteran it will stay that way until you change difficulty

@@lmJonesyy what i meant by that is the people play the game *competitively*, its not gatekeeping anything.

As cool of a find this is, why do you have bombs going off in the background of your mic?
I think I just bumped my microphone arm
@@spacetimewarper I will keep playing with Vanilla game as we don't have an authority or anything related to that, and I want to make sure my game is considered OK by most people (especially with people trying to discredit my games no matter what lol)

Yes but you can also put a command in your config too make it easy.
Could this be the reason for the verruckt jug glitch?
No, verrückt jug works through a function, which is LITERALLY called "check for jug perk", and all it does is
Check if player has armorvest [jug]
Yes? Give player 40 health every 0.5 seconds, until they reach 160
@@Kevaca But how does the glitch work then? I would love to know because it seems like you only sometimes get insane recovery speed which is not what normally happens

This was then changed slightly in shi no numa to make it so you only gained 3 health every 0.5s with jug on a dog round
Then was completely flipped on its head for der riese, with it instead granting 150 more health (100 to 250, a 2 hit to 5 hit [as zombies do 60 damage in every game to bo3]) and "removing" (by commenting it out) the check for jug perk function

Waw players did know about the red screen change its the other stuff that they didn’t know
why is red screen percent significant?
It's not "that significant" but it does give the player some information they wouldn't normally have
Also you regen health really slow after getting red screen so you want to avoid them
When you Get a Red Screen, Your Health Regen Is Delayed to About 5 Seconds instead of 2.5 Or 1.2 Seconds.
@@TIGERBATE so with the verrukt and SNN jug could you then run on recruit to reduce redscreen and avoid regen pause, as regen speed is overidden.

@@spacetimewarper ah ok so someone would just have to install the game offline and decline an update and just play on the first version
Goddamn
Interesting
Does this work on black ops 2
Probably no, you have to switch menus, which I'd believe would reset devars to default
No for bo2 all 3 of the modes are separate .exes meaning you have to close the program and re open it on that exe. It may work for bo3 but I doubt it.
Nope
