I started my locs with braids just had my first retie about a week ago. I don’t wear mines out yet cause they so short but I’m happy I finally loc’ed my hair
Your locs are pretty! I used to shed like that at the beginning of my loc journey. I don’t shed like that anymore. I’ll be 3 years loc’d at the end of September. I believe as your ends start to seal and the more mature your locs become the shedding will stop. Nice video, tfs.
I definitely subscribed! I love your energy and humor and your locs are so beautiful. I just started my loc journey at the end of July with 98 two strand twists, but I love seeing loc journeys on different types of locs 💕
@@christyeverblooming thank you!! I'm already 5 months! I'm loving every single stage of this journey. I just did my first wash and retwist on my own and it feels amazing to see how much my hair is changing 😊
This is my third time locing my hair for the third time as braids so it’s new because I feel this way my hair will still without my hair being so fuzzy looking either way it’s liberating and idc I’ve been on a growing journey for a while !!
Love your personality. And yup I’m locking soon because I want the freedom to get going straight away spur of the moment. I’ve realized I keep sayin no to going places or convincing myself not to go out and exercise because my hair is constantly in a state of either being done, being taken down or the wash day production. I would rather just focus on living and consolidate hair time into retie week. I also use crochet a lot and I get easy headaches and can’t stand too much weight on my head, so braids are a no. I did the straigh life and I hate the thin limp look and way too much work is required to get bounce. So locs in is. I’ll do micro. I’ve been doing a lot of twists and micro twists anyway. My hair always wants to cling closed near the new growth root. I might as well let it Loc like it wants to.
Yesss!! That was me too! I say go for it! I'm sure you will love it!!! I'm excited for your journey and all the activities you'll get to show up to at the drop of a dime! lol! :)
I started my first loc journey with coils and cut them after 4 years to start a new set. I now have braidlocs and have noted so much shedding... I genuinely wonder if there's any correlation?
Heyy!! Thank you for the video. I just started my braidlocs yesterday. Out of no where I decided to do it. My only worry is that my locs will be flat. I do have supper thick/full hair so we shall see. Haha
That is sooooo exciting!!! If you have thick hair, your hair won't stay flat, but then again, it depends on your texture.lol I am sure that you will look great though! :)
I did! I kept experimenting with products. I enjoyed using water-based leave-in products like the-Not your mother's naturals brand. Or I would just use a water bottle and add a dime-sized amount of a conditioner that my hair liked and spray that on my hair with a little olive oil mixed in it.
I know that this was three years ago but I figured that I should still give you some advice. If you already know what to do then this advice can help someone else currently looking for help. I am currently getting all my knowledge regarding maintaining my locs from Yannie the Locologist. She is on Facebook but I normally watch her videos on here. I hope that she may give you or anyone reading this comment some more insight like she did for me.
You shouldn't have any issues with damaging your hair unless you're getting crazy with it. lol. Do what is best for you and what makes you most comfortable. You want the process to be exciting and fill you with peace. You'll make the right and best decision for you when you're ready! :) You got this!
Your shedding may be due to having color on your ends. I had a few hairs fall in my first month but very very little since then. I’m 9 months loc’d. I will be looking out for this tho…along with the white root bulbs. Locs do make you tender headed or in my case even more tender headed. Love my locs tho! Trying to make it to 3 months before I retie. 2 months down now. Thanks for a great video.
Sis I am so ready to start this journey now! Question, do you interlock them now or are you retwisitng it? What does the day to day maintenance look like including wash day?
I am so sorry for the late reply. I didn't see the notification. Did you start the journey already? I am too excited for you! At the time I was interlocking my locs because it was so much easier to maintain. For the most part, I didn't need to do anything to my hair. I wrapped it in a scarf, woke up and spritzed a little something in my hair to try to keep them moisturized. You learn to get a feel for your hair and pay attention to what it may need each day. I washed my hair whenever I felt I needed to. Sometimes that could be weekly, bimonthly or monthly. It all depended on my needs at the moment. Very low maintenance though. I hope this helped a little :)
There are ways around it. Do what you feel is best for you. Some people don't really care about their hair coming undone, so it's up to you. You can always decide as you go. No pressure. There is no right or wrong decision as long as you are making the decision you feel works best for you. :)

Yay! So awesome!
How long does it take to loc with braids if you have soft curly thick hair
@ Christy Hamilton when going to bed at night if I wear a do-rag how about the ends? Or should I wear a bonnet to cover all of the hair?
Can I put these under a wig comfortably?
Looking like a politician instead of Beyonce 😂 i relate to that so much
Did you install your locs yourself?
Hahaha man!!! I’m glad I wasn’t the only one. Hahah but yeah, I installed them myself by starting them as braids! :)
