@@lovenlightman because it went the way of Matthew. So that’s how it was supposed to go. The flow of the universe. Why was Pete Best not in the Beatles?
It would have been a completely different role with Craig as Chandler. Chandler was Chandler as we know and love him because of what Matthew and only Matthew could bring to the role. But it wasn't Matthew that Craig was mad at, he was mad at himself and Matthew was a reminder of that.
Matthew underestimated himself by saying Craig was the best funny man he ever heard. Although he was a quick wit, with a comedic comeback, Matthew was clearly, in my personal opinion, a complete embodiment of humor than Craig was. Matthew had ‘funny’ in his soul, and it resonated with audiences in a ‘disarming’ manner. He could display sarcastic humor like no one I’d ever seen, and yet, no one would take offense, because we were laughing are asses off wishing we could have been the one to say something like that. Matthew could find the perfect delivery and slay an audience every time, he was the best-and yet, he never felt enough. Kevin Costner once said, at Whitney Houston’s funeral , that she felt that way as well… never enough. It must be what the devil whispers in your ear right before he takes you out! Well, Matthew, you were the best, and will be greatly missed & remembered. 🫶🏻
Well Matthew got the chance to show all of that in Friends. He is a very funny guy. Craig would’ve done just as well, but he turned it down. I knew Matthew and Craig is an old friend. I agree that Craig is the funniest person I’ve ever known in my life.
Craig turned down the role, so he technically didn’t have a reason to be mad - but it’s understandable that he would feel resentful towards Matthew. Imagine turning down a role like that on the most successful sitcom of all time. Imagine how hard it would have been to continue hanging out with Matthew and having a front row seat to watch him grow richer and richer / more and more famous. Craig continued as a working actor but knew he would never obtain that same level of success. Matthew would just constantly be there to represent Craig’s immeasurable, *deep* level of regret.
Yes but Friends would be completely different show without Matthew, i don’t know if it had the same success. Matthew wrote in his book, Chandler was mostly based on him. He was talking with the writers and made his own jokes, even “Could i BE more …?” line was his joke with his college with friends. Also he said the writers were asking about his personal life to make Chandler. Like he is awkward with women and has commitment issues. And he makes jokes when he is uncomfortable. These were all Matthew.
@@Elif.-7 oh I completely agree. Craig might very well have thrown the chemistry off if he had taken the part. There is no way to know for sure, but either way I’m sure it was incredibly hard for Craig to accept either scenario; 1. Craig bierko is such an underrated actor...I wish he had gotten his own sitcom because I believe he'd have been a big star...seeing him as a guest star on a few he always delivered with brilliance.
He is VERY funny. He was just so good looking that he was always put in leading man type roles that were usually dramatic. But he is the wittiest person I’ve ever met.

Hard to imagine Craig Bierko in the role, but who knows. He seems to be closer to Joey than to Chandler, not nearly as sharp-witted. And no one could throw something away as spontaneously as Matthew. At least Craig managed to have that conversation with Matthew and was honest about it. A lot of people would have just stayed away.
what an absolute garbage soul, to abandon a friend because of his success and not cheer him on. Same guy tried to destroy Azaria, his other "friend," when he got success with a FUNNY OR DIE short that studios wanted to make into a movie, because they used to riiff years ago doing dueling baseball color commentators, and served a Cease & Desist, claiming he owned the idea of doing a baseball commentator character voice. It was absurd, but enough to queer the deal by spooking the studios with the specter of legal issues. Azaria went to court to prove he created the character, and this great "friend" stood in the way for YEARS, tying it up in court, representing himself pro se to run up Azaria's legal bills. Eventually the judge laughed Bierko's ridiculous claims out of court. It took years. but Azaria turned it into an amazing TV show, BROCKMIRE. Out of spite, bitterness, and weakness of character, this never-was hated all his "friends" who dared to actually do or make anything. A false, awful soul. And now, no longer even handsome.
You’re saying Matthew Perry wasn’t good looking?! (Specifically in the first few seasons of friends and when he was cast?!?!) I think I know what you mean though - this Craig guy KNEW he was good looking and had more creep confidence about him. Matthew/ Chandler never realised how gorgeous / funny etc he was and therefor didn’t play it the same way. I get that.
He really WAS the friend that we all need and deserve. Such a solid good dude.
Matthew was the perfect Chandler!!! Craig definitely was not Chandler. Miss you, Matthew! It’s so sad to lose you!❤
Agree! You can totally see the‘Chandler’ already in the dancing 🤣
Craig was not right for that role. It worked out how it was suppose to work out.

Bierko will always be funnier for that epilogue in Scary Movie 4 where he says "woweee woweee woweee!" while swinging to and fro across the Oprah set.
Matthew was the best......basta
Matthew Perry...true class❤
I didn’t know who Craig Bierko was until I looked him up on Wikipedia. I only know him from a Sex and the City episode.
That’s a damn shame because he’s a really talented guy.
I actually remembered him from Boston Legal.
I remember Craig Bierko mostly from the iconic «The Thirteenth Floor»(1999). I don’t remember how many times I’ve watched and rewatched it.
He also had a big part in fear and loathing in las vegas with johhny depp
Craig would've been good as Ted maybe on "how I met your mother"

Craig was brilliant as Tom Cruise in Scary Movie😂
Even in that '90s clip, Matty was the more likable of the two. Craig seems a lot up his own ass - even when he's pretending to be somebody else.

Craig just never got the chance to show what he’s made of. He is an extremely quick-witted person. His good looks always worked against him.
