    I know off-topic from this video, but I’m really diggin’ the screen. Most modern vehicles have ugly “floating” screens and even the luxury brands couldn’t figure it out. Toyota has managed to put a huge screen and a more flush than float look making it clean af imo.

    The Ford trailer backup system has been an option now for almost 5 years. I have never used the Toyota system but have watched a dozen videos on it's use. I have used the Ford system for almost 5 years off and on; I don't need help backing up a trailer but I feel for people who do. It's hard!
    It's a big step forward for Toyota but it is sure not better than the Ford system. The Ford system is far more intuitive and has more features. With the Ford system, an operator does not have to manually turn their trailer while reversing. I mean after all, isn't this what confuses so many? The Ford system allows you to use a control knob on the dashboard; the control knob is turned, in varying degrees, in the direction you want the trailer to go. Easy peasy.... Then, when you are satisfied with the direction of the trailer, let go of the knob and the trailer will back up in a straight line with the truck doing all the work.
    Sometimes even truth can make sense on RUclips

      HELLO? How is it easier than the Ford trailer backup assist? This Toyota system will work great if you have your trailer straight and you just want to back it up with no easy adjustment.
      The Ford system allows you to, for example, back your trailer into a camp site using the easy control knob, 90 degrees from a road in a provincial or state RV park. When you are finished turning the trailer in reverse with the control knob, you simply let go of the knob and the trailer will continue straight in that direction. While backing up straight, if you do need to make a slight adjustment, you can easily do that by turning the control knob in the right direction and then let go allowing the trailer to continue straight.
      With the Toyota system, while backing up with straight path assist, the driver would need to pause, stop the vehicle and push the appropriate button to enter the other mode and manually steer the trailer and then supposedly re-enter the straight path assist. How is that easier than the Ford system?
      No one should be taunted for not being able to easily back up a trailer. I was raised on a 500 acre beef farm and I was backing up trailers when I was 10. Some people have difficulty....
      It would be interesting to hear TRD JON's thoughts on this and his explanantion of how this system is better. Or is it?

    • @TRDJon
      @TRDJon  2 года назад

      The ford system goes opposite ? I guess of what the steering wheel would do. So if you know how to back up trailers it may mess with you since it is opposite of how you’d naturally back up a trailer if that makes sense.

    • @cwqrpportable

      @@TRDJon Please explain how it's better

    • @cwqrpportable
      @cwqrpportable 2 года назад

      @@TRDJon Thanks for the reply. For clarification, nothing could be simpler than the Ford system. You simply turn the knob in the direction you want the trailer to go. Period, full stop. When the trailer is heading in the direction you want it to go, simply let go of the knob and it carries on reversing straight in that direction.
      The Toyota system may be good in it's own right, but it does not appear better. If anything, it's far less intuitive and cumbersome.
      I've been backing trailers, including pups for 55 years; I don't need the system but some do and I have used mine lots and it is simply amazing and fun just how easy it is for someone who can't back up manually can all of a sudden do it.

      Ford has one, but you have to used it with a dial that goes opposite of the wheel so it is kinda confusing.

    • @cwqrpportable
      @cwqrpportable 2 года назад +1

      Yes Ford has had an excellent system for almost 5 years now. I have used it multiple times and it is slick. The advantage I see of the Ford over the Toyota is that with the Ford system you have a control knob that you use to turn the trailer. You turn the knob in the direction you want the trailer to go and then when you have the trailer going in the right direction, you simply let go of the knob and it will carriy on straight in reverse. The advantage of the Ford system over the Toyota system, as I see it, is with the Toyota system you have to manually place the trailer in the direction you want it to go first.
      The Ford system will do exactly what the Toyota system does and MORE in a more intuitive fashion. If you want to back straight up with the Ford system, no problem, go ahead and back up in a straight line, the truck does all the work.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews 2 года назад +1

      @@jamie.andrews Thanks for the reply. I'm with you, the Ford system sounds (to me) much more useful. I don't need the system for backing up a trailer but it comes in super handy for some of my employees who find backing up a trailer difficult. Ford has had this system now for almost 5 years.
