    Robin dude, don’t give a shit about the hecklers talking down about your video! Your videos are the first reviews of the new tundras, especially the SR5 that I want, that didn’t feel like some bullshit commercial of a guy who was just handed the truck 5 minutes before. Other reviewers post 15 different videos about the same truck and somehow give less information than you in ONE VIDEO. Keep the informative content flowing dude, you’re the one who’s doing it right 👍🏾

    Robin - super glad to find you and your channel. I’ve just purchased a 2022 SR5 4x4 with Sport package / trailer brake controller etc. and (my fault) missed the suspension lowering as a Sport feature. I’m getting an A/S Basecamp 20X and now wondering if I should have evaluated the suspension issue more. Any thoughts? Basecamp 20X has 535# tongue weight, 3500 dry and 4300 GVWR. Thanks for any advice you can offer. Great video.

    • @viewsonvehicles
      @viewsonvehicles  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much for the compliment! I did a bit of research and could not find anything saying that the Sport Package changes the towing rating of the SR5 Tundra, which is well above the specs of your Basecamp 20X. Toyota says it can handle a tongue weight of over 1100 lbs. And tow more than 11,000 lbs. So I think the truck will handle it fine. What may be affected is ride comfort while towing. But, again, I would guess minimally. I hope that helps!

      @viewsonvehicles  Год назад

      @@egggofff5057 I couldn't find an exact figure for you, but it should be 10 percent of the SR5 Tow rating, minus 10 percent of what the little yellow sticker on the door says. That sticker accounts for all the details and options of your truck that reduces payload and towing capacity. You can find that sticker by checking out my video here. I have it time stamped to start just a couple seconds before I show the sticker. ruclips.net/video/hbBiQB2M7Hc/видео.html I hope this helps. -Robin

    Okay so the whole reason for me getting a truck is to tow my horses. This breakdown was great for me to understand what i should be looking at. Which trim was the first truck that you were in? The red one? The one that you were backing up in? Is there a specific package that is neeeded in order to get those towing features?

    • @viewsonvehicles
      @viewsonvehicles  2 года назад +1

      I'm glad you liked my video, Bianca! I'm pretty sure the red one was a limited. The feature I was showing is called Trailer Back Up Guide System with Straight Line Assist. It's standard on 1794 and Platinum models, available in the Towing Technology package for the SR5 and Limited models, and not available on the SR and TRD Pro models. I hope that helps.

    • @rich6828
      @rich6828 Год назад

      Yes, although you need to watch the tongue weight carefully. I think your payload capacity is around 1500 lbs so don't place all the weight in front of the trailer axles

  • @dreadkina-babylon2692
    @dreadkina-babylon2692 2 года назад

    Where did you get the payload chart? It’s slightly confusing because some options and packages seem to change payload differently across trim levels; which I wouldn’t think would affect things. I want to be a good citizen on the road…I have plans for hauling a slide-in or similar camper in the bed of a ‘22 Tundra…I do not want to go over payload, but I also don’t want to get “yellow door sticker shock” after plunking down $45K. I haven’t seen that chart posted anywhere else.

    • @viewsonvehicles
      @viewsonvehicles  2 года назад

      The numbers on the chart are from Toyota, but I made the chart myself.

    • @dreadkina-babylon2692
      @dreadkina-babylon2692 2 года назад

      @@viewsonvehicles Did they also provide figures with additional deductions like theTRD Off-Road pkg? I am trying to determine the SR5 CrewMax and Double-Cab payload capacities with standard 6.5’ beds and TRD Off-Road Pkg. So far I have come up with 1,500lbs and 1,735lbs, respectively; assuming no running boards. How do you know payload if you go with the large screen upgrade and (if available on the SR5) the air suspension.

    • @viewsonvehicles
      @viewsonvehicles  2 года назад +1

      @@dreadkina-babylon2692 These are good questions, to be sure. I do not have an answer for you. A more detailed breakdown of exact payload almost certainly exists, though I’m not sure where.
      As I understood it, the ranges given within the drivetrain and cab categories covered the weight of the available options. But I cannot confirm that.
      Essentially, you need two numbers, the truck’s curb weight and it’s GVW.
      I hope that helps. And good luck.

      @JohnSmith-dj5gf 2 года назад

      One of the other truck channels test drove a non-hybrid SR5 crew cab 5.5ft bed 4WD TRD Offroad package and the actual yellow sticker in the door frame said it had a payload of 1450lbs. That’s less than a Honda Ridgeline. Pretty weak if you ask me and no way it’ll tow 11k pounds without exceeding the payload rating, assuming a 15% tongue weight.

    • @dreadkina-babylon2692
      @dreadkina-babylon2692 2 года назад

      @@JohnSmith-dj5gf Yeah, I saw that video and I used it along with Robin Warner’s stuff here to determine the CrewMax SR5 w/TRD Off-Road 6.5ft bed reduces payload 1940-1450=490lb…but -50(for those running boards)=440lbs…..Toyota needs to provide the weight for each option package and accessory before you order. But they need to do it now, not wait until December when the ordering begins. I don’t understand the arrogance from a business side….$35K, $45k, $60k on an automobile represents the second largest purchase most Americans will ever make. Takes balls to shit on you customers….that’s what the Big 3 do.

    • @jimthumerzs2301

      I was hoping for the same.
      The good news is, the SR doesn't have the electric front air dam which would be in the way of the plow mounts - same reason they're not putting tow hooks on the truck.
      The bad news is, the SR trim is saddled with a 22.5 gallon fuel tank.

    Do you feel you towed long enough to get a idea on towing mpg?

    • @viewsonvehicles
      @viewsonvehicles  2 года назад +1

      Unfortunately, no. To be honest, no official MPG numbers are out yet, Toyota estimates the non hybrid, I-Force, will achieve 18/23/20 mpg (city/hwy/combined) for the two-wheel-drive model and 17/22/19 for the four-wheel-drive model. And, obviously, that’s not towing. Having the 10-speed certainly helps, though.
