    Yo why tf doesn't this guy have more views? His presentation is very clear and concise without just being a dry script reading, not hating on the other dnd channels but this one is definitively my new goto for info.

    Mounted combatant, anyone? Starting a game now with a mounted oath of ancients paladin. No good for dungeons, but in open outdoor combat really gives you some fun control options and makes for great fight scenes.

    I personally really like the tough feat paired with oath of redemption so you can really be the tank sponge everyone needs you to be

    Playing my first DnD character as a human Paladin. Really helpful information! Thanks.

    Martial Adept is my favorite. One Superiority Die is not a huge resource, but it can still give some more fun things to do.

    I chose Eldritch Adept for my level 1 variant Human Paladin and chose Devil's Sight but changed the name to Divine Sight. So nice to see 120ft in magical and non magical darkness, normally.

      @@TheRPGDaily yeah, I played war, tempest and life domains. Looks like I made a t-shirt worthy comment lol. We are the 'life of the party' after all. Though 'I am the storm' memes are perfect for tempest clerics.

    How about heavy armor master to boost their durability a bit if it's also a good half feat? Most other strength half feats are not very impressive.

    My belief is that the right feat for the Paladin is based upon how you want to play the Paladin. Think about your build, and what you want your Paladin to do.

    I'm still level 2 but planning ahead, so many different ideas! Considering sentinel, shield master, or war caster. Or just buffing my strength from 16 to 18 for that bonus. I also want to up my charisma and con since they're at 17 and 13 but I probably will do that at level 8 or 12.

    Man sentinel is so funny, no save, can stop literally any enemy no matter the size... Even more bonkers with pam.

    I'm suprised you didnt mention Blessed warrior when you were mentioning the fighting styles, that is a nice fighting style paladins get as it can give you some nice ranged attacks with the cleric cantrips, like sacred flame, toll the dead, or word of radiance. I love it with my oath of redemption paladin because it gives me a flavorful way to attack without drawing my sword(which role-playing wise is a big deal as it has chains and locks around it in the scabbard to keep it from being drawn lightly) especially since my dm let's me nonlethally use them

    My paladin is almost always go last or next to last for initatives since I don't have a bonus. Would anyone suggest Alert for the Paladin? I'm kinda between alert and mage initiate (warlock). Mage Initiate because it would be nice to have some ranged spells. Even with a 19 AC (just hit level 4), I feel like I get hit way too often. I've been pretty frustrated with playing the paladin so far.

    • @TheRPGDaily
      @TheRPGDaily  3 года назад +3

      What oath did you choose? I empathize with your situation but its hard for me to make suggestions. Your Dm must have some great luck, A 19 AC is nothing to scoff at and I struggle to hit it all the time. And while I understand that its tough to go later in initiative or be the meat shield of the party I think there are other ways you can lean into the Paladin's Tankiness to make the character even more survivable. making use of the Shield of Faith Spell give a +2 AC and Defensive Fighting style is a +1 AC. if I were you those are the kinds of things I would look at. and I would make my character as tanky and scary on the front lines as I could. But thats just my two cents.

    The shield master feat's reaction = 0 damage only works with effects that only target you, not AOE spells. So it's way worse than it appears to be
    Edit: THIS IS INCORRECT, I AM WRONG

    • @kathrakincanada2756
      @kathrakincanada2756 3 года назад

      This is incorrect. The Shields AC bonus applies ONLY to spells that target you. AoE spells that require a DEX save can be lowered to 0 damage if you pass the save and use your reaction, but you don't get the shields AC bonus for the AoE rolls. See PHB :
      Shield Master
      You use shields not just for protection but also for offense. You gain the following benefits while you are wielding a shield:
      • If you take the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action to try to shove a creature within 5 feet of you with your shield.
      • If you aren’t incapacitated, you can add your shield’s AC bonus to any Dexterity saving throw you make against a spell or other harmful effect that targets only you.
      • If you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you can use your reaction to take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, interposing your shield between yourself and the source of the effect.
