Has to be the dumbest mission in video game history. The game had me killing countless people on that island out in the open ever since I got there. I was hiding bodies in bushes and bodies of water and all of a sudden it changes the rules and won’t allow me to kill any of the guys wearing the same uniforms I’ve been walking past after looting the dead soldiers I’ve been killing. By the time I attempted that mission I had liberated the whole map by clearing every camp and had completed all the towers. I would of killed a lot more people than John wick in one day in the game than he would of in all of his movies combined. It’s immersion breaking to think that I couldn’t just of used one of the uniforms from one of the guards I killed to get to the specific target and kill him for his special uniform that would some how allow me to get close to Hoyte undetected. It’s like that part of the game was written and made by a complete different person from the rest of the game. Games like this and red dead redemption 2 are always going to be one and done games for me since they don’t have game plus modes where you can keep your skills and progress and have too much grinding to level up and unlock parts of the map or upgrade gear but that mission lowered my opinion of a game that has been touted as being a masterpiece. I think the game is overrated, kinda mid in general but that mission just did not belong. It felt disjointed and was like the equivalent of a tv show filler episode. In general I struggled to even understand the protagonist’s motivation for even wanting to stay on the island once Vas was dead to begin with. I didn’t buy that he could be that bewitched or in love with Sitra with the short time he spent with her. They have much hotter chics in California, chics with BBLs and other cosmetic surgery. Shit he could even find more attractive transsexuals in Thailand to be besotted with. Didn’t by that he would turn so easily on his friends, even the brunette that had genuine feelings for him for a random tribe queen who was up her own arse with an over inflated view of herself. Just padding. Just a way to get the player to spend more time in the game. As soon as I killed Vas which was anti climactic in my opinion I just wanted to get the character’s friends to safety and get off the island considering neither the character or I knew the true fate of his little brother, at least if the game let on that Hoyte knew about his little brother that would of gave a good reason for the character to want to stay on the island longer. I saw vas as being Jason’s enemy and Hoyte being Sitras. It’s like he was killing her enemy for her to prove his love like the worlds biggest fucking SIMP and the game was making me enable him, making me joint SIMP, doing SIMP shit. Didn’t hate the game. Hated the mission. It made the game far worse than it would of been without it. It fucked up the flow of the game so yeah I’d say the mission very much spoilt the game by being disjointed and immersion breaking. Less is more. Games that try to do too much often miss the sweet spot like GTA Sanandreas which tries to be every action movie you’ve ever seen. That game goes from boys in the hood to passenger 57 to James Bond From Russia with Love🤷
