Great to see another video from you Gunny, I'm not that keen on matt clearcoats on a car maybe I'm just old school but IMO if it has clearcoat on it then it's got to look like glass👌👍John UK
Do you have a video showing what settups you use for all coats? Im an industrial sprayer but would love to learn more conventional, using a gti pro atm fan same for all coats
Yes, the mat finishes look really cool when they are recently painted. Mat finishes are harder to maintain. After a few years, mat finishes look like primer extremely dull.
I did a matt Renault austral recently and had a chat with the owner he said i am never buying another matt car he had nothing but trouble with it taken it to multiple shops and most struggled with it he asked the dealership wich shop they recommended and they send him to us to fix the previous repairs and gloss differences
Hey mate just come across your channel and love what you’re doing. I was hoping on a few pointers if possible for a beginner apprentice mechanic trying to paint his own car. I’m painting my car matte black, attempted rattle canning part of the car and it’s gone completely sideways thought f this I’m gonna do it properly and here we are. I understand the sanding side of things and primer but everything after that I’m not familiar with. If you have a recommended gun to use, cleaner to use and if you just use microfibres clothes to clean or anything else. Also I’m sure you’ve done a few matte black paint jobs if you have a recommended paint and clear for it that would help so much! It is going to be a drift car so paint doesn’t have to be absolutely perfect and I will be painting it in my shed so I definitely don’t expect perfect but I’m gonna get it as close to as possible considering the circumstances. Thanks in advance mate keep up the good work!!
Don't do it unless you have access to a very clean paint booth, guaranteed you will have dirt nibs everywhere, the minute you try to remove them after curing you're going to have a gloss finish which defeats the purpose, hope it went well tho 🤞
I sprayed some matt on my bike a couple years back. It came out quite satin though, Could it be that it took too long to dry? should i thin it more? the paint i used was DeBeer
Gunny. I'm finished priming my car and sanded to 600. It looks smooth and ready for base coat. Do I need a sealer coat before base coat? I'm using a gti pro lite I bought it on your recommendation. Cheers.
Came out bloody nice gunny, I like the Matt and satin finish look but it's not something I'd ever get on my car for the same reasons as you stated, p.s. what's the go with those wheels kia they look terrible
I have shot G2 Axalta 4:1 with 30% flattener and it is still QUITE glossy, if you polished, unless sitting beside one which has no flattener and polished you would not be able to tell a difference.
Skillz. Hopefully this year I can learn to paint, I have a beater 86 BMW 535i "Arctic Blue" and the paint is shot. I've been told to leave it alone but I'd rather have it looking good and learn something. I wouldn't have the confidence without watching your videos, I do have a couple guns (lph400 iwata orange cap 1.4) and I think 1.3 Supernova. I need to kit them out (cups regulator whatnot) and spray a few junk panels first. (Guns on drawer better than cash in the bank!) And I hope to learn a lot on the job. This year or next, we'll see, if I live that long. Fingers crossed. I don't have much invested on the outcome other than doing my best. If I pull it off, I post a link to some photos. I am looking forward to painting some shit, namely my piece of shit E28 chassis BMW 535i. All $650.00 usd worth of it when I got it in 2016. I do the repair myself so that's my confidence and specialty but spraying a job, starting with a whole car soup to nuts, daunting. Just another day for gunny but a diaper wearing event for me just contemplating it. Cheers from Seattle, USA
Really enjoying your additional commentary on clear coats in the last few videos man!!!⚡
Freaking badass. Seeing the roof come back to new or better is so bloody satisfying. Awesome video and commentary!
Thanks for dropping by mate. Hope you've been well and I'm looking forward to a new video from you!!
@@TheGunmanChannel just dropped one a few days back!
@@GameRangerReviews88 I'll check it out, cheers mate 🤙

You got some serious painting skills gunny , each to there own I’m not of fan of Matt finishes either but I’m old and old school 🤣
The car turned out amazing, I'm kinda on the fence about the satin finish myself .
PPGs new Matte clear is bad ass

PPGs matte clear you can denib on your first coat
That color is really cool but I agree with you, I wouldn't want to own a full vehicle in that finish.

Great Job Man

Yes you should always spray a sealer before the basecoat

Lol yeah they're plastic covers. All space aged I guess 😆
I find the best flat clear is using full gloss duxone and leave it outside for a week 😂
😂😂😂 facts
Easy get Matt to do the painting.

Nice job bro…..
Thanks mate
I wish you in nyc. So I can bring my car to u

The blue with normal gloss is mch nicer...than matt finish
Airlines or air lines...It took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about.
Lol, racking up them frequent painter points.
✌️👍🤘
Nicely applied, but yuck
Matte clear always sands like💩 did a complete kia matte clear --a box and a half of 800🤣
Nah matt or satin is not for me
I agree, never really got them myself. They look like they haven't finished the job properly to me. Can't beat a nice glass like gloss finish.
The matt finish looks terrible, why anyone would buy a car with that kind of finish. Nice colour it looked great when it was wet and super glossy 👍👍
Because everyone has a different taste
