According to Kubo in a Q&A, Hitsugaya and Matsumoto recognized Isshin, but chose to not confront him since he, actually, didn't care about it. In one of the post-anime novels, Hitsugaya mentions wanting to speak with him again someday.

Kubo: If I remember correctly, there were proposals seeking to bring them into contact one time in an anime side story or something like that, but I hadn’t drawn it in the original work, until he reveals his true identity Isshin isn’t the type to initiate contact to begin with, so I had a discussion and ultimately told them to abandon the idea.

Notice that Isshin's name is Isshin Shiba. He comes from the Shiba family. One of the four great noble houses in the soul society (the founders of the current soul society). Out of the four, the Shiba family members are knowing to have the largest amount of inherent reiatsu. And that's why Ichigo has a large amount of it. Also, notice that Isshin's zanpakuto is named Engetsu, similar to Ichigo's Zangetsu, and Isshin can also perform a getsuga tenshou, which is a zanpakuto technique (that might or might not be passed down throughout the Shiba family).
Also Byakuya when hearing Ichigo attained bankai says something that only one child from a noble house will be able to attain bankai so quickly or something
And the shibas also called Isshin as their uncle a few weeks back

In Japanese, 1 is read as "ichi" and 5 as "go".
In Spanish, "15" is "quince" and this language is used in connection with Arrancar.
This implies that Ichigo has the power of Hollow and Quincy.

Also 'quince' pronounced "keen-seh" where as Quincy is pronounced Ku-in-shee is closer than not. If the ooo sound in Ku was silent, then it'd be K-in-shee.

The Japanese language has a character called katakana, which allows most foreign words to be pronounced in Japanese.
I am Japanese, so perhaps that is why I am not uncomfortable with this play on words.
(Or it's possible that Kubo is only focusing on the spelling.)

In case you didn’t realize, Aizen took the “invisibility” cloak design that hides spiritual energy, from Urahara, like we saw in Pendulum Arc.
Also when he took the final explosion and basically split half of it, he was using “Danku”, the same Kido wall that Byakuya used against Zommari ‘s eye powers and Aizen used in Pendulum arc when Tessai tried blasting him while he was casually walking away without even looking back after hollowfying the Vizards.

1:09 no initially Ichigo used Rukia's sword which grew in size, but that sword was broken in the first fight with Renji and Byakuya. After that, when he got back his powers through the training with Urahara, Zangetsu just materialized there
5:06 according to Kubo both her and Toshiro noticed, but didn't say anything
The fact that he unlocked his shikai right after he got the mask on his face for the first time is actually such a good foreshadowing of what happens next dude !
As far as I know we never get a confirmation that its Rukia's sword that he used. And considering that Rukia gets her sword back later without having to form a connection with a completely new Asauichi, its more likely that her sword got sealed when she gave her powers to Ichigo.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was never stated that it actually is Rukias. Then again, its been a few years.
Edit: So, there is actually an interview with Kubo where he stated that Ichigos first Zanpakuto had the design of Rukia's (though that is not entirely true either, as Ichigo's sword had a tassle that Rukia's didn't.) but not the spirit.
This is sadly not confirmation for either side, but considering that the sword didn't have Rukia's spirit, had a slightly different desing (the tassle) and the fact that Rukia didn't have to get a new Asauich and Imprint her essence again (unless that only take like a month or so) makes it very likely that Ichigo's first Zanpakuto was NOT Rukia's but the same fake kind of fake Zanpakuto he used late, and just had some "inspiritation" from Rukia's Zanpakuto.
@@TheJanstyler Ichigo doesn't wield Rukia's sword, he simply wields a sword that has taken on the shape of Rukia's sword because of the way she used it to awaken his soul reaper power.

I believe it was mentioned that rangiku and toshiro know about Ichigo's dad but they keep that to themselves because it doesn't seems like he wants to be contacted.

Things of note: (No spoilers here)
1) Fullbring, if you remember, are formed by people whose mothers were survivors of hollow attacks because hollows imprint their reitsu on their victims. Thats how Ichigo inherited Hollow/Fullbring Powers.
And 2) Ishins name was SHIBA. Ya know... Ganju Shiba? Kukaku Shiba (with the canon)? and finally... KAIEN SHIBA?!!!!!!! THE GUY RUKIA HAD TO KILL?!! 9TH ESPADA GUY?!!!! In the very begining, it was noted that Ichigo looked like Kaien. And thats because they're RELATED.
Byakuya stated that only those of noble blood could easily achieve bankai, and most others never could manage without being a prodigy or sheer luck/effort. Remember Byakuya's reaction to Ganju saying he was part of the Shiba clan? The Shiba are one of the old 5 great noble families, now down to 4 because the Shiba clan fell. The Shiba's are Noble. Ichigo is Noble.
Also, do remember, very first episode of Bleach has Ichigo's bedsheets with the quincy cross.
Byakuya didn't say those with noble blood could easily achieve bankai. He said that it's usually members of noble clans who manage bankai, but even then it's at most usually 1 person per generation and it's still extremely difficult even for noble clans.

Yes, by technicality, Ichigo inherited Fullbring/Hollow powers, but not ONLY because his mother survived White, as she was a Quincy and was then poisoned with Soul Suicide, since the Hollowfication was deadly incompatible with her Quincy heritage.
Urahara, binding Isshin's Shinigami soul to Masaki, and thus temporarily sealing Isshin's Shinigami powers, rendering him completely human, to become a hybrid of Human and Shinigami so that his Shinigami Reiatsu can 'hold off' Masaki's Hollowfication. After Ichigo was conceived, White, the black Hollow that infected, and basically tried to possess Masaki, then moved onto Ichigo, who at this point was a hybrid of Shinigami and Quincy/Human.
This causes Ichigo to basically be a 'complete' hybrid. Since his Hollow powers, which he got the Fullbring style, since Masaki was bitten by White, but also from White himself/itself, as he had essentially been transformed into Ichigo's Asauchi, thus making him a 'Natural Vizard' compared to 'The Vizards' since they were Shinigami first, then Hollowfied later. This is also seen when Oetsu helps Ichigo reforged Zangetsu, after Yhwach broke his Bankai.
When Ichigo chooses an Asauchi, it transforms and looked entirely different compared to the others, which are basically devoid of detail and have mouths in their eyes. Ichigo's Asauchi basically takes on Ichigo's appearance, except for the Hollow Hole, Mask, and overall pure white color, opposed to the black color, or devoid of color, of the unchosen Asauchi. Because his Hollow powers fused with his Shinigami powers day one, the second he pretty much started developing, is what causes him to even be alive, as his Shinigami powers, fused with the Hollow powers, acts like a 'protective barrier' around them, preventing the Hollow Powers, and Quincy Powers, from trying to eradicate one another.
I guess you could also contribute it to a 'bypass', which we see later near the ending of TYBW, where he uses his Shinigami powers to 'balance' his Quincy and Hollow powers, and use all three at once, for his combined Getsuga Tenshou Gran Rey Cero, which I have personally dubbed the 'Gran Rey Getsuga Cero'.
There's also the whole thing where this causes his Soul to be confusing sometimes, like when Harribel noted that despite knowing Ichigo was a Shinigami, it 'felt like two Arrancar/Espada fighting'. I said 'Arrancar/Espada', as I don't remember if she said one of the other. Which may attribute to the transformation of a Hollow into an Arrancar, where they are said to gain 'Shinigami-Like Powers' upon successfully becoming an Arrancar.
In the manga Isshin's Bankai was teased in the scene where Aizen attacks him from behind.
And he continues to mention how he can't use his bankai which takes a huge toll on his body with that injury.
By the way, Masaki used Blut to take that bite. Fucking badass

Notice that Ichigo looks just like that Hollow when he turned fighting Ulquiorra.
You asked about what Ichigo has to do to get his blade back, what Ohetsu is practically saying, is that Ichigo has never had the basis of what makes a real Zanpaktou, that he's been using something else...a strong Zanpaktou requires an understanding of self, Ichigo doesn't understand who he is, he doesn't know his soul...this is why the Asauchi didn't pick him, so Ichigo needs to know and accept himself so that Ohetsu can make him a real Zanpaktou.
No remember Rukia's power no longer was within Ichigo during the SS arc it left him completely; that's why Urahara came to train him, the whole reason for that was to awaken his Shinigami power that was dwelling within him, Rukia merely gave him a small spark to start the fire, but Ichigo had to learn to summon it at will.
Everything Urahara does is basically parallel and foreshadowing of everything we see the Zero squad do for Ichigo, Urahara thought him how to summon his Shinigami power allowing him to gain his Shihakusho the uniform of the Soul Reapers as well as find a way to ignite a piece of his fullbring power, in SS it was Urahara invention that allowed Ichigo to call upon the Name of Zangetsu forbthe first time, White Zangetsu isn't confirmed to be an arrancar or an ordinary hollow in fact White is something akin to an Asauchi because of the nature of his soul coming from Shinigami but he isn't an asauchi only something similar to it which is why The Vasto Lorde form Ichigo unleashes isn't officially called Vasto Lorde as that is not really the name of that form; another proof that might make sense is if you remember White Zangetsu telling ichigo about the "Horse and the King" bit it's a similar saying that Namiya tells both Renji and Ichigo "Who is superior, the Shinigami or the Zanpaktou/Asauchi?".
Anyways he calls upon the name of his sword without the asauchi and that in of itself is a huge foreshadowing of the nature of his abilities, so yeah my boi Ichigo fought every enemy so far with a fake zanpaktou which is basically created from a small fraction of his power so yeah, compared to Kenpachi, Ichigo is probably the third most nerfed character; 1st being SK and 2nd being Yhwach.
Then remember the first time kisuke trained him parallels his visit to houhoden; Then Ichigo goes to Kisuke's version of Tenjiro's hotspring; then if people remember the lost agent arc which is the fullbring arc Kisuke invents a sword capable of gathering the reaitsu from different Shinigami's and put them in the blade the concept that Hikifune explains to us in Episode 9 when she describes the conceptnof soul candies, Urahara gives the sword to Rukia, which you see her use in the final episodes and chapters for the lost agent arc.
Every training Ichigo has been doing is simply to awaken his powers, he's never taught how to wield a sword, never taught how to perform spells, because Urahara knows, his father knows, and Namiya knows he's nerfing himself because he's afraid of his powers and basically doesn't know shit about them which adds on to his fear of his powers.
*Sidenote if you're reading this I hope people don't put an angry tone to it, I just like the world building in this series theres a lot to it in the dialogue and in the drawings it's not perfect but it has a lot kf moments where a shit ton of subtext can be found.
By the way Ishin used "Danku" to block the explosion so it doesn't hit Masaki, it's the same spell Aizen used to block Tessai's spell and the fact Isshin didn't chant the spell should show the level he is in.
Two things on the final questions about Bankai:
1. This episode might actually be the best look at Isshin's Bankai we'll get; Aizen notes during this part of the manga that Isshin's Bankai does damage to his own body, so with the wound Aizen gave him, he CAN'T use his Bankai. HOWEVER...as you pointed out (and I didn't notice!), Isshin then uses his own blood as fire. So...maybe that's a tease of what his Bankai does? Maybe it sets his blood on fire? His breath? His sweat? Who knows? We don't! No one in the fandom! Welcome to the same chapter as everyone else!
2. Yoruichi is...actually, maybe the anime will address it. Maybe. It's a very mundane answer, but maybe the anime will do something with it. Again--same page.
Yoruichi herself says she doesn't get along with her zanpakuto, and she's actually weaker when she uses it

But kubo has said he has plenty of stuff planned out like isshins bankai and unohanas backstory, that he won't be including in the anime but may explore if/when the manga continues, but rn he's very involved with the anime so he doesn't have time to even try resuming the manga

The getsuga tenshou is a technique apparently inherited among members of the Shiba Clan. Apparently in one novel, Ganju uses a weaker version of a getsuga tenshou and complains that if he had a zampaktuo he could throw a stronger one
At 13:34 he actually drinks his blood and sprays it on his Zanpakuto to make the flames burn more intensely
Looks like self sacrificial moves are a trend among Fire Zanpakuto Wielders.
Remember Yama-ji using his own scorched arm as fuel for that Lvl 90s Ittokaso against Aizen

Ishida was wrong...When you think about it, they are the most polar opposite ever is terms of lineage...him being of one of the 4 nobles clans of the Sereitei and her from a rare royal bloodline...Love always finds a way i guess !!

A-Sow-Chi. That's how you pronounce it lol. Also, Isshin in the manga was going to use Bankai vs White but Aizen slashed him to prevent it. Isshin mentions that he's too injured to use his Bankai, and based on his ability to weaponize his Blood with fire, its assumed Isshin's Bankai is a Blood and Fire based Bankai but there has never been any confirmation. Not even in CFYOW.

In the older anime , they kinda messed up about engetsu being fire type zanpakuto . They made it blue instead of it having flame 🔥. So it's more so an older anime fault .
And in the manga it's kinda hard to tell but it looks like fire .

[Tidbits or Clarifications][Lotta reading, my bad lol]
- Ichigo running away from the conversation was always a nice bit for me because it's not the 1st time he's done so, Ichigo will run head first into a physical fight but battles that deal with the mind and soul scare him.
[Definitions for Some of those Quincy Words]
- Seiren is the name for Quincy Training it means "Holy Training"
-Funfte Feld is a training location for Quincy (Given what Ryukens mother says, it can be assumed that his Father spends more time training his Quincy abilities than with his family)
- Echt Quincy are Quincy that are part of pure-blood lines (He we learn that both the Ishida and Kurosaki families are Pure-Blood Quincies)
(Quilge J-The Jail was one, and many Assume Haschwalth is as well)
- Gemischt Quincy are Quincy with mixed blood and seem to be of somewhat lower class than Echt Quincy
- Many people get confused by Misaki calling Ryuken's Mother "Aunt Izumi" seeing as tho there seems to be some talk of marriage. Misaki is the last living member of a pure-blood Quincy Lineage (They took her in seemingly for that reason, which is why Ryuken questions if she'd be happy marrying him). So this doesn't prove any direct blood relation between them (So we don't know exactly how related the families were if it all aside from being Pure Quincy)
- Aizen, Gin, and Tosen are using the Cloaks that Hide people's spiritual pressence. Urahara invented and used during the Turn Back the Pendulumn flash back to sneak up on Aizen.
- In the manga when Aizen slashes Isshin, we learn that he does so to stop Isshin from using Bankai, apparently Isshin bankai takes a toll on his body so he cant activate it if he's sustained a certain amount of damage
- Given the conversation between Aizen and Tosen, they made White to hollowfy Shinigami, White seems to have chosen Misaki to hollowfy, which clearly has never been done. (It was cool to see something that genuinely excites Aizen, cant forget that he's a scientist and the idea of discovering something new truly excited him)

Ichigo lost the powers Rukia gave him. It did act as a trigger to awaken his own Shinigami powers as he is part Shinigami. Just as him nearly Hollowfying during his training with Urahara triggered his Hollow powers and him trying to break out of Quilge's Jail triggered his Quincy powers.

Kubo actually replied in a Q&A panel(i think) that both Histugaya and Rangiku recognised Isshin but decided not to say anything, choosing to respect their former captain's decision. This may also be noted in the scene where Karin sees Hitsugaya and questions how she can see her. Karin replies saying she's Ichigo's sister to Histugaya just goes like "that's why". But ichigo was a substitute soul reaper who gained powers from Rukia. There should be no way Karin should've been the same. He says like that cause being Ichigo's sister, she also has Isshin as her father, their former captain.
I don't think so you have to be a soul reaper's child to see souls and hollows
@@tirthoghoshal1412 Exactly my point. Histugaya knew Ishhin was a soul reaper, he recognized him. If Ichigi actually did get soul reeper powers from Rukia, Karin wouldn't be able to see her. She did cause of her Innate powers, which they both got from Isshin who Hitsugaya recognised was their former captain. But just remained quiet on the matter.

Remeber when Ichigo trained with Urahara the first time, he almost turned into a hollow. His almost-hollowfication happened because the hollow power inside him passed from his mother was awakened. His high spiritual power meanwhile inherited from his father.
I've been watching reactions of this episode and I'm amazed that not one reactor noticed that Ichigo is actually a Shiba
Noticed a major similarity to the beginning of the show thanks to another reactor doing ep3 this wk. Orihime lets her brother/hollow bite her shoulder to save Ichigo the SAME WAY Masaki took a hollow bite to the shoulder to save Isshin.

I pointed it out in my reaction how Isshin Shiba looks like Jann Lee from Dead Or Alive series. Dead Or Alive is my favorite character. He is based on Bruce Lee. This episode was one of the best backs story history episodes in the Thousand Year Blood War arc so far. It is possibly one of the best history episodes in all of Bleach. For some reason, I do not remember seeing Isshin fight against Vasto Lorde Wh*te Ichigo in the manga. The battle was amazing with Isshin and Masaki fighting.

0:50 neel the thing here is that Ichigo is the only one who has his own asauchi because asauchi is made from combining hollow and shinigami souls. Aizen created a hollow by merging hollow and shinigami souls that later fought masaki. The blade Ichigo used till now is just a Quincy blade. And yes quincy does use blades. In the fight between Yhwach vs Yamamoto Yhwach used his quincy blade. That blade and Ichigo's blade is same

Actually, ichigos powers don't come from rukia.but from ichigo himself. When he fought byakuya, he lost all the powers that he had received from rukia. The only reason that kisuke was able ro restore his abilities was that he ichigo already had powers of his own(atleast, that's what kisuke said) probably from his dad. Even the zanpakuto ichigo used previously was rukias. It looks exactly like rukias when you look at the hilt, but the blade was bigger coz ichigo had terrible mastery of reiatsu control. When he regained his powers, ichigos zanpakuto just appeared
fun fact u talked about isshin bankai and he was about to use it nad he was about to fuck that hollow up and because of that aizen atacked him from the shadows, cause if im not wrong his bankai needs a lot of reiatsuto be used and with him hurt like that he coulndt use it

Its normal to stop the episode and talk about it, this mini arc "Everything but the rain" while very small, drops a lot of information on us and explains a couple of old plotlines we never had the full story about.

Do you remember Zangetsu give Asauchi to Ichigo back in soul society arc after Kenpachi stab him in the chest and broke his Zanpakuto . Looks like Zangetsu trying to make Ichigo create his new zanpakuto, but got cancel by Zangetsu itself
That was Old Man Zangetsu using quincy powers to stop the bleeding, he never tried to give him an Asauchi as it's literally impossible for him to do so.
