    The Bible decrees marriage as one man / one woman, does it?
    Except that the very verse quoted, "Male and female created he them" (Genesis 5:2, KJV) comes before Eve was created. This in fact is the one remaining verse in the OT from the Babylonian Talmud, which states that Adam and Lilith were created together. Lilith, written out of the Bible, would not lie under Adam, fled from him, and was busy screwing fallen angels, thereby giving birth to the Nephilim, when Eve was created. Therefore, if Adam and Eve were married (no mention of their marriage in the Bible), then Adam was still married to Lilith (we have to assume a marriage - just as with Eve), which means either Adam was the first bigamist, or the Bible permits polygamy. Given the fact that monogamy is the exception in the Biblical stories, rather than the rule, take a guess at which applies.
    Then they bring in the Book of Leviticus, allegedly written by Moses, who allegedly had three wives, one of whom was Ethiopian, who thereby would have been black. Therefore the Bible not only sanctions polygamy, it also sanctions interracial marriage.
    Also, if Christians insist that marriage is ordained by their god, then that creates a huge problem. Are they going to be the ones to tell all other couples of all other faiths, as well as atheist couples, that they are "not married"?

    • @Paulogia
      @Paulogia  5 лет назад +10

      I need to read up more on Lilith.

    • @vinx.9099
      @vinx.9099 5 лет назад +5

      do you really think that twats like these wouldn't go around saying to people not in their church that they aren't really married?

    • @ThomasTrue
      @ThomasTrue 5 лет назад +1

      @Vinx.909; Point taken, but very few. Certainly when I was a Baptist, my pastor maintained that anyone wed outside of Christianity was not married.

    • @ThomasTrue
      @ThomasTrue 5 лет назад +4

      Please do, Paul.
      Also helpful:
      Those who maintain one man / one woman usually bring up the argument of the Pharisees asking Jesus about a man divorcing his wife, and Jesus replying that a man shall leave his family and cleave unto his wife. However, in that narrative, the Pharisees speak of one man and one woman, so Jesus replies in the same context. That does not mean that the Bible ever defines marriage as one man / one woman.
      And then of course there is the parable of the ten virgins, where five wise virgins have oil for their lamps, but five foolish virgins have no oil. Okay, Jesus was speaking metaphorically about Heaven, but in the example, the ten virgins were "going in to meet the bridegroom". Hello? There's Jesus himself referring to a polygamous marriage.

    • @jenniferbrewer5370

      If marriage is "one man, one woman," why do so many Christian pastors have kids with their mistresses? Why do they even have the mistresses to begin with?

    I have an idea for a true test of faith in God.
    1. You are on an aircraft and one of the engines flames out the pilot comes on the intercom and announces that they are returning to the airport and tells the flight attendants to prepare the cabin for an emergency landing a moment later the remaining engine flames out as well. A moment later the pilot comes on the intercom asks all the passengers to pray because he just earned his captains wings and really needs God's help to land the plane safely.
    2. You are on an aircraft and one of the engines flames out the pilot comes on the intercom and announces that they are returning to the airport and tells the flight attendants to prepare the cabin for an emergency landing a moment later the remaining engine flames out as well. A moment later the pilot comes on the intercom and announces that he has 30 years of experience as a pilot and mentions that he is an Atheist and should be able to land the plane safely.
    Which plane would you like to be on?

    • @chrishakala528
      @chrishakala528 5 лет назад +7

      The atheist's plane. Even if he had the same or marginally less experience-the reason for the latter being that he is going to try harder to land the plane safely.

    • @johns7734
      @johns7734 5 лет назад +10

      Chris Hakala - The atheist's plane, because the pilot is not going to waste time praying when they should be looking for a soft landing spot while trying to restart the engines.

      The real test of faith: The plane is about to board, but you can see one of the wings has a hole in it. The attendant tells you that the crew have all prayed for Got to hold the wing together. Do you get on the plane?

    • @PinkkElephantt
      @PinkkElephantt 5 лет назад +10

      I once read an article about a co-pilot that was sacked for gross incompetence after he got to his knees and started praying during a flight emergency rather than assisting in landing the plane safely. Thankfully, the remaining pilot was on the ball and presumably either secular or less religious, and he was able to get the plane to the ground. I would take the atheist any day.

    • @newsystembad
      @newsystembad 5 лет назад +10

      See, what you've got to understand is that Christianity (but only Ken's version, not that filthy Catholic blasphemy) is the only real religion, and all others are atheists who just deny the real god. That's right, because even the most remote island-dwelling tribe who have never had contact with the outside world worships the same god that Ken does.
      It all makes perfect sense if you put on your god-glasses! (which you have to buy from Ken at an exorbitant markup)

    • @ParanormalEncyclopedia
      @ParanormalEncyclopedia 5 лет назад +5

      True. But then I seriously question if Ken's so much selling a brand of Christianity and more just selling crap. I'm sure on some level he believes but I think he sees this as a meal ticket as well.

    Thank you so much for the Toronto comment. I live in southeast Manitoba, 50km from Winnipeg, a city Torontonians often shit on (and, sometimes, rightfully so, Winnipeg was once voted most racist city in Canada). It drives me nuts when Americans automatically assume that Toronto or Vancouver is Canada. We are so much more diverse than that. Unfortunately, where I live, it is one of the few bible belts in Canada. Im sure there are enough creationists who look up and buy Ken Ham's material out here. There arent much atheists out at all. I've corresponded with people online who say "oh you live in Canada, its so much more enlightened than here" No. Not really, at least not where I live. Thank you for the good work you do.

It's way too complicated to explain in a post, but the book is, "A History of Ancient Israel and Judah" by J. Maxwell Miller and John H. Hayes, copyright 1986. published by Westminster John Knox Press. It was recommended by one of my archeology professors, so I trust it. It's a good read, and very understandable

    • @chrishakala528

      The existence of those gods at least disproves the Christian god in that universe.
      Also, he probably considers them to be superhumans rather than religious deities. In that case, he would not be a theist as most people in the US see it.

    • @Elsenoromniano

      I don't want to be the nitpicky comic guy, but the Christian God definitely exists in the DCU, all Gods exists in the DCU, because according to the rules of the DCU mythology they are physical embodiments of the beliefs people have about them. The Christian God is not named directly, but it is usually call the Presence.

    • @tabularasa0606
      @tabularasa0606 5 лет назад +2

      But are they really (supernatural) gods, or are they natural beings with god like powers.

    • @markusnavergard2387
      @markusnavergard2387 5 лет назад +2

      that bugs me though. why does the DCU need a supreme over god and why does that one ahs to be the christian god? why could gods not just be some powerfull entities that evolve natrualy from some nascent force from planets? its a comic book you dont need to have fucking Jehova in bowler hat and a cane

    • @Elsenoromniano
      @Elsenoromniano 5 лет назад +1

      There are natural beings with god like powers, but there are also a lot of supernatural gods, like the Zeus, Osiris, The Presence or the Eternals and the you have the New Gods where nobody agrees if they are very powerful aliens or really gods. Because in general comics are weird.
      But Christian mythology is in fact a thing in the DCU (well, at least it was until the last time I was up to date the reboots and multiple universes make everything fuzzy in the DCU), Lucifer exist (and he is a very interesting and fine fellow, plays the piano very nicely), Angels exist, Hell exists and so does Heaven (usually called The Silver City). The Presence is often kind of not very involved with anything and his direct inferiors, are usually very big pricks.

      Children are often a lot more intelligent than adults give them credit for. They just don't articulate it as well as adults because they simply lack the language to express it at that age. Try buying her books on Astronomy and science for children. Don't out and out deny religion but rather try to gently direct her towards logic and reason to discover it for herself. As a child I was actually kicked out of Sunday school for asking too many questions. Even at 6 years old this entire thing wasn't adding up to me.

    When I was in Canada a couple of months ago, I saw a number of Chick-Fil-As through Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. I was quite surprised. My pro-GLBT, atheist husband and I discussed going to one - from MANY years ago, we both know that we like their product. I objected because of who they are, and where the money goes. OTOH, he suggested doing it, since Canada has laws that require all businesses adhere to certain laws and practices and taxes, does not recognize the ludicrous idea that corporations have religions. In the end, we went to other establishments.
    It seems that it's a bad business decision to associate an owner's, president's, manager's, or board member's religion with the business - UNLESS that business somehow caters to the needs of a particular religion. There must be a number of people who have boycotted their business for years - each of whom would have spent money and made a profit for them.
