- You read correctly, Gauls but for AoE 2. For those who don't know, this is the Rome at War mod or Romae ad Bellum, which is a fan-made total conversion mod for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition developed by TheConqueror753 and Caesar3842, first released on September 11, 2021. Though it shares the name of the "Rome at War" mod for Age of Empires II: The Conquerors, it is independently created and has a greater scope. It is based on civilizations of the classical antiquity period, spanning roughly from 500 BC to 500 AD.
Here are the stats of the Gaul civilization:
Gauls
Infantry and Siege civilization
Unique unit: Ambaxtoi (Gallic infantry that blocks arrow fire for units behind it.)
Unique technologies:
-1A. Tribal Remedies (Infantry heal 30 HP per minute)
-1B. Oppida (Town Centers fire arrows, even when ungarrisoned)
-2A. Furor Celtica (Infantry damage adjacent units)
-2B. Gallia Lugdunensis (Elite Legionaries enabled at the Barracks; Legionaries also cost -30% food)
Civilization bonuses:
-Military units train 10% faster (except siege units)
-Infantry armor upgrades free
-Siege weapons fire 25% faster
-Gold Miners don't require dropoff points
-Town Centers cost -50% stone
Team bonus: Siege Workshops work 20% faster

Honestly, am I the only one who thinks that the Celts should be a civilization in Age of Empires 1?
Their history is before Christ, the last Celts live in Ireland, Wales and Scotland, but the latter should gain its own civilization in Age of Empires 2 (Scots). Just like the Gauls who had their impact on history and were not added to AOE 1, they sacked Rome in 300 BC and were finally conquered by them under Caesar in 44 BC. Just like the Cumans, the Celts were a tribal confederation in several European countries, their focus was on infantry and even war chariots, but their soldiers did not wear armor, although they invented chain mail (reserved for nobility). They used various weapons such as spears, axes, swords, darts and bows. They attacked with fury, there could be a technology called Celtic fury that gave a charge bonus to the first attack like the Romans of comitatenses in Age of Empires 2. They didn't use armor, but this would be compensated by the attack.
@lucassousa.521 thanks for sharing the historic aspect of them. I knew about the chariots and the Indeed fought without but for those who could afford it.
They should’ve been in AoE1 and AoM for sure.
@@CavemanBearPig Yeah, the Celtas are in AoEO...so maybe they will come back for AoM Retold (AoE 1 i see it difficult for the very low playerbase)...
I know there's a lot of them, but if we get one vid per civ, that would be awesome! Would be nice to see one of the Indian or Mesopotamian civs next.
I really enjoy this mod. Great to play when there's been a drought of AoE2 content and I want to try something fun and new.

@koreanAOE2nooob since it's available at the mod section in game, it's a pity for someone who like aoe2 to not give it a try
