    You know, if you marked the plugs and housing BEFORE loosening them, you’d have a pretty good idea how tight to make them when reinstalling them.

      Korean engineering, the old sonata’s used to have an external transmission filter like an oil filter. My 2010 Forte I could do the oil change and tranny fluid without even raising the vehicle up

    Just change the transfer case fluid using this video. Once you drop the full shield everything is wide open and easily accessible. I found I added a lot more fluid than actually came out. To my surprise the 10 mm hex and the 24 mm drain bolt were actually only hand tight. I was surprised that there was no leakage. The car absolutely feels like it has more power and smoother acceleration. If you’re handy this is probably about as easy as it gets. I change the fluid at 41K. The gear oil was spotless. I did not do the rear differential at this time because I figured the oil would be just as clean as what was in the transfer case.

    Helpful video. Now If only I could get the fill plug out, its pretty seized up. 6 point 24 mm socket and a 3 foot breaker bar and it still wouldn't budge.

    Have you had any problems overfilling the differential? The service manual calls for 580ml +/- 50ml. The factory fill was 500ml. Filling it to the bottom of the fill hole was about 850ml.

    Great video. Got a 2017 Tucson AWD coming up on 70,000 miles. I haven’t done this service to it yet but want to. Is there any reason why I should have the dealership do it instead of me, aside from saving on the labor? I guess I’m asking because of maintaining the warranty. If there’s ever an issue, can they decline a warranty claim since I did it myself?

    • @numbnutsAU
      @numbnutsAU  2 года назад +1

      That would be your call to get the dealer to do it or DIY. It's not a hard job. Doing it yourself you save $ and you know it is done.

    Hi
    Just bought Tucson
    What do you recommend to change first oils for
    Engine, Transmission, Transfer case and rear diff?

    • @toddzino58
      @toddzino58 2 года назад +1

      For me, on all my Hyundais, including our 2019 AWD Tucson, I do the first oil change at 3,000 miles. Then, every 5,000 miles thereafter. For transmission, I do a drain and fill every 30,000 miles. For diff and x-fer case also every 30,000 miles. Never had a problem doing this. Well over 200,000 miles on our Santa Fe following these change intervals.

    • @numbnutsAU

      I haven't bothered with the loctite on mine. no harm in putting a bit on it if you are concerned with it coming loose - use the blue stuff that can be loosened with hand tools.

    I am new to all of this, but could you figure out the torque spec by using a torque wrench when you initially loosen the plug?

    • @numbnutsAU
      @numbnutsAU  2 года назад +1

      No, that won't work as it could have thread locker on it from factory. You'd only be guessing if it broke loose at 40ft-lbs or 50 ft-lbs when you had ypur wrench set at 55 for instance.

    • @lonniebeal6032

    • @numbnutsAU
      @numbnutsAU  3 года назад +2

      yep - in the Tucson the front diff is built into the transmission, so only one transfer case and one diff.

  • @garry4378

    Why do they use red thread ldocker on a drain plug. I went to my dealership for crush washers and was told there's none on drain plugs. There is luckily napa matched them up. Put a little blue thread locker on instead of red. Saved my self 400 dollars doing it my self thank you.

      my Hyundai dealer was actually pretty useless at stocking the crush washers so I ended up buying an aluminium crush washer kit off ebay i.e. 450 aluminium crush washers of varying sizes for $20. e.g. www.ebay.com.au/itm/154537162838?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item23fb21f856:g:HswAAOSwlXddx2hQ&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAACkPYe5NmHp%252B2JMhMi7yxGiTJkPrKr5t53CooMSQt2orsStEKTPzZMfQmny3knR97t0FjyFzZTq1aKnfrevC12TSh3zVP%252Fd3xxskXBBudIDJgVPKn6Ki4OPNEqy7w5MJUzTOFbiIwP%252Brui%252FiI4KVguO0upFJXbX0WPm4Qh6kRmlztgSlYGwXZoyrH086gsKLwmstmH%252BgLG%252FLAmBTCA4f3261v3bf1kqry1Ao0jbsuuXiy%252F1cwu5LOk3tkODqwvvpBejIfAU%252FI47HMN2MYsrWPEbmk73a1BO7Sn9VuyTYAoUyvC6p2T1H0%252Bxscp5tXepqFP1YGXgMMM%252B7Vrww0KnSfWIjrrHO8DjYyXgKodoHZnLgWbk%252BV5eMbPRCzfOiemo27naUgasOC42avFQaP9hsu7I7zhXgDNkddB08oRODPlkc0uRbFNYJt1OpA74l5I0prAYAKMmA2BlZ7EnVGSJJASF690RQQvnv%252BtEYZXK1onJ1XwRr2jVDAtI76g7IA9NTUYo%252FLiiyTPu9vuWJnPfbz%252BNRtGAYeqmQQ91WvGNir4fd6q0pnAtn%252FFsv7P%252BWYcgBPThpo6zk9uPeWCeEg1FC9t5aQGk8cQjFuDUacA8Y%252BD6EUZQXDGg2OQtMSKLnYS98jd1LbHRaNIXGLFiyhTZ27bC1uuN9IY9u%252BHe1doumEr5vS%252B4PtFf1YJQO19Hv%252F%252F4CxNhsJEfoJR1ZrIrikG98gye1DNHOLZ%252BdCl4f1zkqAuE0eukLUNADcFGbVegcG%252FhQ4Gf2x5fFnx5b58N4cFqA%252BvRzDk9QtM%252FVHf4hkWPjAgkYdQAUGpEKcDGmcJxBKnuhLcNpQCb1UxRFUaBuPkG7haxKQDqIwlhJf4PmB2K80n%252F0Gb%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2334524
