The hairdresser failed to say the protein treatment is a temporary solution for a permanent problem which bleaching causes. Most end up with fried damaged hair with split ends

That means that it is accepted by linguistics from all over the world, or at least that's what I learned in Uni where I am studying languages. What you are talking about are regional variations. I completly understand where you come from because in Romanian pretty often the word dialect is wrongly used the same way, but that does not mean that it is correct, which is why, when you study linguistics, they make a point of correcting you on that.
The best example of what a dialect is, is what happens in Italy: a dialect is a regional variation, yes, but not of the same standard language. In fact Italian IS born from a particular dialect, which is spoken in Tuscany, or more precisely in Florence, but the other dialects from the other regions are very, VERY diverse. They have heir own grammar, vocabulary and even literature, which classifies them as proper languages from a linguistic point of view, while from a social pov they are unfortunatelly seen as less. In fact, the dialect spoken in Piedmont, for example, is very hard, if not impossible, to undersrand if you are not from that region and even then, not all people know it nowadays and it resembles French a lot, not Italian. Of course, a person who speaks italian in the North is a able to understand the one from the South and vice versa because the base is the same: standard Italian. If they speak in dialect, they are not able to undersrand each other unless they specifically learned the other's dialect, which is a language all on its own.

Same :/ I had to do it 4 times too. And even then it was just at the yellow orange stage.
I dyed my hair myself blonde (half blonde the other side stayed black) and it worked for me finally! I've tried blonde before as a base for dark green when I was in highschool, but the blonde was pretty orange. I think you just need to find the right hairdresser (or product in my case).

Can someone with experience tell me how damaging this is to your hair? My hair is a pretty dark brown and its been lighten in the past but just highlights. I really love this trend but I don't want it to cause my hair to fall out.

Your hair will not fall out. There might be minor damage to your ends but you should always trim your ends after you dye your hair anyways. Go for it!
Emily Anderson if you do it yourself i would recommend doing it over a longer period of time to get it light enough if you did it in one day like they do (without the proper chemicals and products) you could damage your hair
There's no way this is a real trend, right?
Remember to soak your hair in coconut oil overnight and then bleach over it, significantly reduses the damage and doesn't disturb the process.

Honestly, I'm not sure. Buzz feed has very strong opinions on cultural appropriation, hence the reason why I thought she was being serious.
The last girl was the only one who kinda looked good(but still looked better with natural hair) on everyone else it looked all sorts of wrong. One of my friends dyed her hair gray though and it looks great. Her hair is long though and she doesn't have bangs and it's like different shades of grey so maybe that's why.

Yeah, it's awesome and so stylish as long as you are in your 20's. Once your hair actually starts turning grey/white, no one tells you it looks so classy or on trend. They tell you you look old and call you Ma'am in a tone that says they think you are half in the grave already

As a 14 year old girl that has had different rainbows of color in her hair, I can say that gray is a great color, but it's not for everyone. The volume, curl, and length can make all the difference in the overall style, as well as what type of grey you use. There are definitely more than 50 of them, and they are best made with purple pigment to cancel out the yellows and also because purple and whites/grays blend better than red or any other color that they can try. I am personally going to get gray hair in a few years after I get another foot or two of hair length so that it works better overall, but please, if you are thinking of doing this yourself, google image search young styles of gray hair, and if you don't like what you see for your hair lengths and curl, it would be better to find a different color or an ombre. If you like a few styles, do a little research on how to properly bleach and dye your hair without it getting damaged or messing up the color, or find a reliable salon near you that has a record of successful hair dyeing and bleaching.
