    Thank you @Make Stuff! My SecretLab Titan was creaking incessantly and when I lubricated it with regular wd-40 it continued. I switched to white lithium and it was instantly solved. To anyone else following this video, its unnecessary to remove the retaining clip at the bottom. Just spray on top of it while it is perfectly upside down, spin it, and the grease will seep down the piston tube.

    Thanks. My Titan Evo XL 2022 is coming up for a year old and it had two slight creaks, one when rotating, and the other was a slight thunk when tilting back and forward, like two metal surfaces were binding slightly. The second method fixed the tilt. I didn't ever realise that plastic cover was there, I thought it was a sealed metal unit. The third method did not fix the rotation creaking, so I had to go back and do the full first method and that fixed it. I would add that when you lift the wheel base off, check inside the tube that comes off with the base, as one of my washers had got stuck in the bottom. I suspect all that really needs sprayed is the plate with the balls and the one washer on each side of it. These two washers had grooves worn in them, so it should be easy to extend the life of the washers by flipping them so the remaining flat sides are touching the bearings. It should also be easy to find replacements once they completely wear out.

    Thank you very much for your helpful video. I have a not-that-old computer chair that was making this horrible, loud "GRUONK" noise from deep inside when I shifted slightly while sitting in it. I thought I was going to have to get rid of it after lubricating everything else. After disassembling the center pieces, and just a mild application of Ballistol (recommend highly, also no need to drench the chair in my personal opinion) around the seams, and leaving the chair upside down for a few hours, it's not producing the noise. Thanks for covering the disassembly in a helpful way.

Today it developed a new creaking and clicking sound that shows up with the slightest movements and I couldn't take it anymore. I sprayed down the moving parts at the tilt mechanism and it worked like a charm. I also managed to fix the other creaking issue from slowly tilting by taking off the single screw next to the tilt tension adjustment and sprayed down the big spring and inside the spring.

    Additional Note,
    If you still hear squeaking while turning or it comes back very quickly please check the condition of the large rubber ring. This tends to deteriorate and plastic from this gets stuck in the mechanism.
    Replace if you see any tearing or damage. Amazon in the uk and us have these under Office Chair Bearing Kit. Size is pretty universal if you can't get look at getting a cheap generic piston and taking the parts from it.

    • @wilf15592
      @wilf15592  3 года назад +3

      Hi, I am not exactly sure which part is causing it but I would try to add white lithium grease to the main vertical piston first (as shown towards the end of my video). In my case, the vertical piston was the culprit for all the noises, be it the sound when I just sit on the chair, or the sound when I lean back like you said, or when rotating. This vertical piston is called the "gas lift cylinder", and it is particularly susceptible to creaking noises when subjected to strain in multiple various axes (not just vertically). If this doesn't work, then you can try lubricating all other hinges and springs you can find under the chair but that would be a lot messier and take much more guesswork. Good luck!

      Based on this article, www.thedrive.com/maintenance-repair/39173/dielectric-grease , no it wouldn't work well.
