A statement from someone whose owned a Secretlab chair for about 6-7 years now. While the leather is nice, it will eventually start peeling. Mine is almost entirely gone (over the course of the last year) and I have to clean my floors constantly because the leather bits stick like glue to the hardwood. This is making me need a new chair. I'm going with the cloth this time around. Just something to think about for those that might have their chairs for a while.

I was very dissapointed with my DX racer chair. Was perfect for about year. Then, little troubles started with mechanism Then - PU leather goes off right 2 months after warranty ends. Now, after 5 years it almost rips appart. It was model up to 150kg and I have 85kg, so "overweight" is not an issue. I dont care about colors, as long as it is black based :), i am looking for quality. I am not going to risk another PU leather. Well, the Secret labs one might be better than DX racer one. It is a shame Secretlab is sold out in case of SoftWeave. Not a piece on stock, 2 months preorder time is bit too much. Lets hope my "really not best buy" dx racer can hold together for 2 months...
i have a AkRacing Master Premium chair also in PU leather. i have that chair now for almost 6 years and when it was in its third year the leather started to show cracks here and there. now at this moment its missing pieces of the leather all over :P. the next one im looking for is the Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022 serie SoftWeave. and if its going to be any other chair its never going to be PU leather again :P
Thank you very much I'll go whit the soft weave, I don't like it wen it sticks nude but whit my shorts in summer Ha! Ha! The biggest down fall is not be able to try them in a store. ( Canada, Qc. )
I ordered the PU, but changed mind after i saw the pink softweave as well as so many reviews about sliding issue. However, trying to contact their CSR is very challenging as they dont have call center. By the time they check emails , too late. Right now i dont even know where is the chair i ordered. It seems they try to reroute the shipment back to their wear-house so that they can process my cancellation. It is my bad, but wish they have a call center you can call.
I was trying to get "The Witcher" edition, but unfortunately it sold out twice. So I grabbed the "Cyberpunk 2077" Evo XL Edition. And it hands down is the best chair I have ever sat my butt in
Yeah I went on head and order myself a Titan Evo 2022 Secretlabs gaming chair yesterday. I went with a fabric one but quickly contacted their support team to see if I could change my order to a leather one but couldn't change anything on the order so they put in a cancel ticket for me. Now I have to wait for them to respond to the ticket and cancel my order but I went and order a leather Joker themed one before they sold out.
I know this was posted 10 months ago but thx for the honest review on the chairs. These videos definitely help a lot of people out including myself when it comes to which version to buy of something.
Secret lab doesn't recommend pu leather with pets. And i saw another review where the person said his dogs' hair doesn't stick to the weave. So i would prefer the weave as a pet owner.
I've been looking for some great chairs for my wife and I since we both work from home now. At first I didn't want to blame Secretlab for shipping delays, because of the pandemic. I didn't complete the order because the difference in time for my wife chair and mine to arrive.
Please update your recommendation under "WHAT GEAR DO I USE?" For some reason, I don't see what chair you actually chose in any of your lists on amazon. Thanks!
Man you just saved me. As someone who's regularly shirtless (and hot blooded) I was going to buy the weave chair, but I have 2 cats and a 3 year old so.... Leather it is.
Buyers beware. I was about to go for the PU leather and there is a quite a lot negative reviews on how the PU leather is peeling. So even if one would be taking extra care of its leather, it basically means that over time (2, 3 , 4 years), it will peel. I have had my fabric chair for 10 years now and it still in very good condition except for the harm rest. Will go with the fabric because of that. Too bad, the PU leather does look way better then the fabric. At least they have the black with blue accent.
Most of the negative comments are about the old PU leather though. Secret Lab claimed they are using a newer version of the PU leather which should last longer.
@@matthewkwong3365 Indeed, so instead of wearing off after 1 years it will be 2, or 3. This is a really expensive chair. The chair I bought 10 years ago (fabric) at staples is still fine, and I paid about 150$ for it. At the end of the day, I am just really informing ppl about the cons, each should be after being well informed...
@@Sixpack32a if you are risk averse you can avoid the new pu material, but the reality your "it will peel in 2 or 3 years" comment is pure speculation. You don't know how long the new material will last and it also can depend on your location. The reports of the old pu chairs peeling were from hot humid climates. Not everyone lives in Malaysia.
So I just sold my HermenMiller Aeron chair to get a SecretLab Evo 2022 R PU Leather, but after hearing your thoughts on kids, pets etc I want to get the fabric but I know my daughter or cat will damage it.
Can you imagine sweating on a hot summer day but still wanting to game or work. The softweave will just soak up sweat unless you spray it regularly with a hydrophobic spray. The PU leather wont absorb but you will have to use leather wipes in order to keep it "fresh"

I really don’t like the softweave look… at all. I presumed the PU leather was more expensive than the fabric when I first saw them. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered and had mine delivered within a week :)
Hey, are you able to comment on the "skins" for these seats? If i was to get a leather seat and get the softweave skin, is it the same experience as just getting the softweave?
The problem with pu leather is when you have cats who loves to sharpen their claws on it. Every piece of my old leather chair is destroyed and flakes. With soft fabric, its just not that fun for a cat to scratch. So im going for the soft fabric
I just ordered the leatherette one. I do get hot in my room but i like the look of the leather plus i have a cat that likes to hop on my chair, plus i eat at my chair too lol
I do sit in my chair a lot in Al Bundy style lol, only not so much during the winter period. It's a hot room in the spring / summer so... I should order a softweave fabric then ;-)
The only reason I am watching a comparison is of how sweaty the Fabric gets. :D Big Guy, sweating during summer... Leather does not sound good to me! We´ll see! :D
Strange setup, we have been conditioned to expect the leather version of a seat to be the upgrade to the fabric version. Interesting that they flipped it.
The base model is faux-leatherette PU. Imitation material that is cheaper than real leather. Just like all gaming chairs. SecretLab does offer a genuine NAPA leather version that is far more expensive than SoftWeave though, if you want leather.
Be careful with the softweave fabric. Look for reviews online yourself where you can find an issue about static discharge. Under the arm rest there are metal parts, and every single time you sit down or stand up (not just on carpet) you'll get zapped :) I've just sent mine back today because of this issue and I've tried it on 3 different floors, different clothings (ESD protect clothes as well) and ESD mat. Nothing helped, so I've just ordered a PU leather instead. Will see how that will work out.
the reason i brought the fabric instead of leather is because where i live it get hot as fuck during summer (Australia) and so when I'm wearing shorts and stuff while sweating my ass off my legs get stuck to the leather so i got the fabric instead to avoid that.
It looks like the SoftWeave has zippers. If so I have three questions about the SoftWeave: 1) Is it removeable? 2) If it is removable... What's under it? and can you put it in the washer?
The PU chair looks great, however all PU chairs I have ever owned tend to just crumble after a few years which is very disappointing. I even watched some videos with the Secrelab PU chairs doing the same thing. Softweave is the way to go honestly, it will likely last longer then the PU ones. It's unfortunate because like I said the PU ones are great looking, but forking up $400+ dollars, I would expect a longer life, and the extra $30 will be a wise decision.
@@brandonbreuer6589 That will be good, I have the Softweave now, and I love it. I hope the PU does step it up, it's a big amount of money to spend, and the materials should be much better to make it last.
@@brandonbreuer6589 It could be "PU 2.0" or "PU 10.0", the difference in longevity will be minimal. It's just a selling tactic to allay your fears. PU de-laminates crumbles, and breaks up over time, especially in humid environments, it's just a fact. I've had 5 such chairs in my lifetime, and they all end up the same way. The SecretLab model will do likewise. It may last longer than a budget PU leather chair, but it will degrade eventually and probably long before any of the other parts on it begin to fail (like the gas-lift cylinder, for example). You might stain a fabric chair and/or it might fade and start pilling up (which can be fixed with a fabric razor gadget anyway), but the material will survive longer than PU, however cleverly it's marketed. So to answer the question this video poses... Yes, the extra $30 is worth it. If you want leather, pay the full price and get the Napa Leather one, it will be more cost effective in the long term vs. having to buy a new chair once the old one starts breaking up after only a few years of use. Remember: You get what you pay for. The PU "Leather" a.k.a "Faux Leather" or to be completely accurate, "False Leather" is the cheapest price for a reason; It's the lowest cost/quality option of the three.
I sweat a lot for some reason always have since I was like 4 years old. Always hated leather chairs they make me hot but I didn’t wanna trade my kidney for a Herman Miller chair with mesh. So I ordered the soft weave secret lab chair can’t wait for it to come in.
If you’re constantly sweating in a material chair I have no idea how that would be preferable over leather, weave material will trap odours, meaning the chair will stink after a while.
@@InfamyOrDeath-__- does fabric or leather breath better? Why do we wear fabric clothes and not leather clothes? Because fabric breaths and will keep you cool and if it does start to smell a bit, that’s why people invented febreeze fabric freshener.... 😂
@@UnhingedCanadian I never said anything about which fabric breaths better, of course fabric breaths better. I’m saying that if you sweat a lot (which you said you do) then sweating in a fabric chair is not a good fit. You can sweat all you want in a leather chair & just wipe it.
@@InfamyOrDeath-__- thing Is I won’t be sweating as much in a fabric one..... you clearly aren’t getting what I’m saying. And if I do sweat a bit it will be less then leather and there is easy options for odour removal from cloth
Hi. I have the lightgray softweave for a while now and i love it. But i cant help but notice that u say that secretlab sent u a chair for free, that it's not a sponsored video, and that it has 'zero control over what you say'... i dont wanna bash on you or the video or anything, but that sounds wrong on so many levels XD
I have purchased 3 cheap chairs and returned them all and am on the fence on spending so much on a chair. I hear they are very hard but good for back and better long term. Is it really worth it?
I got the Joker Omega (I’m so happy with it), no way I’m buying the weave, I’ll spill stuff all over it, it’ll get destroyed & end up stinking, can you imagine spilling something like milk on it? Shit no. I also prefer the Omega over the Titan, I love the shape of the side cupping base on the Omega over the flat bottom of the Titan.
Could I ask for your high please, I am concerned about the omega and the titan. Even there is a chart on the official website to suggest your weight and high but I was worried because I am a muscular guy. My high and weight is matched with the omega but I scare it will not comfortable as the titan at seat base width. I am 5 feet and 6.93 inches high, 163 lbs. Thank you for the answer.
The problem I'm facing is that my cat likes to jump up on the back of my chair and use it as a scratching post. I have a leather office chair right now and it gets shredded up pretty bad. I feel like the softweave wouldn't get torn up as much or be less noticeable. Anyone able to confirm?
i don't like edgy, gamer-y colors on my setup, so i prefer my gaming chair to be black. that said i prefer to have an easy-to-clean chair, so i'll be getting the PU leather
fabric must be great and all for hotter days, but the material will absorb your sweat, long term this will probably be the cause of a bad smell in your room, unless you buy an extractor vaccum dont buy soft weave, its not reallly hygienic, with the synthetic leather you can wipe it off easily and the material wont absord nearly as much sweat if at all, as the fabric material will
I'm too tall for the titan and too light for the XL... if I'm under 100kg is that a big deal for the XL? I'm sure I'll get fatter in the next ten years...
I think its more to do with where the back supports etc are for the height, the weight limits go up as typically taller people might be heavier. I am about to put through an order for my husbands birthday present and he is 6'5" so a Titan will be perfect I hope, just making that decision between PU snd Softweave :)
I wish they did some custom designs more for soft weave. That's prob biggest downside to fabric 99% of their designs are in leather so if im not a DVA main or minecraft addict im SOL for cool design cvhair
I would like to order a Secretlab chair in EU, but I've read online that the delivery often is very problematic and the customer support is horrendous. Does anyone have experience?
I would guess in terms of claws ripping the chair, odds are higher with the PU leather. In terms of shedding hair and general ease of cleaning, nothing beats the PU.

Then - PU leather goes off right 2 months after warranty ends.
You should ask for a credit or discount on a new one much better.
i have a AkRacing Master Premium chair also in PU leather. i have that chair now for almost 6 years and when it was in its third year the leather started to show cracks here and there. now at this moment its missing pieces of the leather all over :P. the next one im looking for is the Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022 serie SoftWeave. and if its going to be any other chair its never going to be PU leather again :P
Yeah I also picked the PU leather because of the larger variety in colors and styles compared to the softweave.
Same, it just has nicer designs, is easier to clean, and i got used to the stiffer more sturdy feel
I like the black because I don’t like the gaming chair aesthetic. So having a color that is more low key is something I’m all for
Thank you very much I'll go whit the soft weave, I don't like it wen it sticks nude but whit my shorts in summer Ha! Ha! The biggest down fall is not be able to try them in a store.

Great review, mate. Thanks. Any thoughts about the Titan Evo 2022 or pros and cons of the new leatherette vs. SoftWave Plus? Cheers! 🙏
Had both and soft weave is much better for the gooch doesn’t sweat nearly as much
I ordered the PU, but changed mind after i saw the pink softweave as well as so many reviews about sliding issue.
And it hands down is the best chair I have ever sat my butt in
One of the things that I didn't consider the soft weave is they don't have that many designs that come with the soft weave.
I just bought mine, hope its awesome!
Secret lab doesn't recommend pu leather with pets. And i saw another review where the person said his dogs' hair doesn't stick to the weave. So i would prefer the weave as a pet owner.
I just got the black one. Very happy with it. Glad I didn't go with some funky color scheme.
Scotchguard on the soft weave when you first buy it. Remains soft weave with the hydrophobic surface like PU leather.
Now that you've sat in both the Ewin chair and the Titan are the chair firmness about the same or is the Titan firmer?
Buyers beware. I was about to go for the PU leather and there is a quite a lot negative reviews on how the PU leather is peeling. So even if one would be taking extra care of its leather, it basically means that over time (2, 3 , 4 years), it will peel. I have had my fabric chair for 10 years now and it still in very good condition except for the harm rest. Will go with the fabric because of that. Too bad, the PU leather does look way better then the fabric. At least they have the black with blue accent.
Thanks for the advice!
People stay away from PU leather. No matter what, that material will peel after about 3 years. You’ve been warned.
Softweave fabric is more suited for hotter places. PU leather will peel no matter what. It might take longer because it's high quality but it will.
These are the 2020 range, typically when do Secret Labs update the chairs? Annually?
i heared they update every 2 years
The 2022/2023 version is out now.
i bought the PU leather for the simple fact that the soft weave is all preorders and there are no good colour options for it
you need to do commercials on your own, great music, great vocals, great everything, good job
I love ultra blue so the color is great looking to me so imma go order it now thanks :)
@@radishxiv hasn’t arrived yet they have shockingly bad customer service and I’m just gonna refund it i do NOT reccomend Ive been waiting nearly 6 months for it to arrive
@@James.E90 lies; you made your original comment 5 months ago. lol we can all see the time stamps, kid. apparently SL is so good they have other companies paying users like radish to lie about their products.

Bought one on the 15th, says its gonna arive tomorrow, the 19th. 4 days!
I hope it comes then, that would be amazing! I was gonna guess 2 weeks or so.
how is it?
@@sneg__ fantastic, lower back doesnt hurt anymore, plus I took a few naps on it.
Worth it 100 percent for me.
@@maccunningham497 awesome, just ordered mine today :)
I don't have toddlers but I'm clumsy as heck so the nice breathable fabric is a no-go for me lol
I've covered it up so I don't worry to be nude on it Lolll
Okay so I am confused.
I want the cosy material because I hate the cold leather feel (my room is cold) BUT i worry about spills etc as i eat at my desk....the design doesn't bother me much so and neither does the cost increase really....
I really don’t like the softweave look… at all. I presumed the PU leather was more expensive than the fabric when I first saw them. I was pleasantly surprised.
I ordered and had mine delivered within a week :)
I got the dark Knight special edition titan and I kinda wish it came in soft weave
Hey, are you able to comment on the "skins" for these seats? If i was to get a leather seat and get the softweave skin, is it the same experience as just getting the softweave?
Have you ever Is had any tears in the fabric of the chair just wondering and how is holding up
The problem with pu leather is when you have cats who loves to sharpen their claws on it.
Under the arm rest there are metal parts, and every single time you sit down or stand up (not just on carpet) you'll get zapped :)
I've just sent mine back today because of this issue and I've tried it on 3 different floors, different clothings (ESD protect clothes as well) and ESD mat.
Which one lasts longer homie?
The PU chair looks great, however all PU chairs I have ever owned tend to just crumble after a few years which is very disappointing. I even watched some videos with the Secrelab PU chairs doing the same thing. Softweave is the way to go honestly, it will likely last longer then the PU ones. It's unfortunate because like I said the PU ones are great looking, but forking up $400+ dollars, I would expect a longer life, and the extra $30 will be a wise decision.
Too be fair, in 2020 secretlab switched to their new "pu 2.0" which is supposed to be much more durable than the pu used on previous models.
@@brandonbreuer6589 That will be good, I have the Softweave now, and I love it. I hope the PU does step it up, it's a big amount of money to spend, and the materials should be much better to make it last.
@@brandonbreuer6589 It's still PU leather which means it's garbage and will continue to be a garbage material.
@@brandonbreuer6589 Check google images in 2023.. you'll be glad to have gone softweave over the PU leather
The PU "Leather" a.k.a "Faux Leather" or to be completely accurate, "False Leather" is the cheapest price for a reason; It's the lowest cost/quality option of the three.
does comfortability factor in or does it not matter?
this is the type of review i was looking for. Thanks mate!
I've covered it up so I don't worry to be nude on it Lolll
So does the leather chair crack over time?
You did a good job
Hi if you sweat a lot would it stain the softweave????
But do you slide when u rest backwards on the pu leather?
I have purchased 3 cheap chairs and returned them all and am on the fence on spending so much on a chair. I hear they are very hard but good for back and better long term. Is it really worth it?
Yes. It is not “hard “ per se, it’s firm. Firm is better for your skeletal structure than chairs that are way too soft.
@@yg78t76t7 I got a softweave titan in the end and it's been great. In it hours a day and had no issues. 👍
Great vid 👍
Appreciate the love!
How tight are the shoulder parts that jut out on the side of the chair, do they make you feel like your shoulders are pushed forward?
Not at all! My shoulders don't even touch them!
Does the 2020 Titan come with a head pillow? Or no?
Yep!
what is the brand on the lamp u have on the side of ur desk it looks great
It's an awesome lamp. It's a HEKTOR lamp from IKEA
Go for the omega, they recommend for it for people at 5”11, 200lbs and below.
The problem I'm facing is that my cat likes to jump up on the back of my chair and use it as a scratching post. I have a leather office chair right now and it gets shredded up pretty bad. I feel like the softweave wouldn't get torn up as much or be less noticeable. Anyone able to confirm?
Would not spend $400-500 on a chair your cats are going to rip apart period.
Double sided masking tape. Apparently cats hate it, cus it sticks to their claws.
witch makes less noise? odd queston. your reviews are awesome just the only deciding factor left for me is witch is quieter
What do you mean? Make noise how? I have the leather Joker Omega & it makes no noise whatsoever.
SITTING BUTT ASS NAKED IN MY TITAN TYPING THIS. THANKS TECH AUDIT TV!
just me here sitting naked lol
What you up to there....
I've covered it up so I don't worry to be nude on it Lolll
" The softweave is soft" Hmm, did not expect that. :P
Lmao
"Really" soft.
Nice! ... 😀👍
Yes
i don't like edgy, gamer-y colors on my setup, so i prefer my gaming chair to be black. that said i prefer to have an easy-to-clean chair, so i'll be getting the PU leather
Your personal preference is fine. But someone liking lots of color expression isn’t edgy.
fabric must be great and all for hotter days, but the material will absorb your sweat, long term this will probably be the cause of a bad smell in your room, unless you buy an extractor vaccum dont buy soft weave, its not reallly hygienic, with the synthetic leather you can wipe it off easily and the material wont absord nearly as much sweat if at all, as the fabric material will
the new chair (May 2021) with SoftWeave fabric Titan Charcoal Blue smells awful (plastic chemical smell) and it takes weeks for the stink to get away
I'm too tall for the titan and too light for the XL... if I'm under 100kg is that a big deal for the XL? I'm sure I'll get fatter in the next ten years...
How tall are you?
I think its more to do with where the back supports etc are for the height, the weight limits go up as typically taller people might be heavier. I am about to put through an order for my husbands birthday present and he is 6'5" so a Titan will be perfect I hope, just making that decision between PU snd Softweave :)
I’m 6’4 190lbs and ordered the XL haven’t gotten it yet but seems like best choice
I wish they did some custom designs more for soft weave. That's prob biggest downside to fabric 99% of their designs are in leather so if im not a DVA main or minecraft addict im SOL for cool design cvhair
I live in Utah so it shows up in 2 seconds
I would leave a comment on whether I like the softweave or not, but they delivered me the wrong damn chair....
I would like to order a Secretlab chair in EU, but I've read online that the delivery often is very problematic and the customer support is horrendous. Does anyone have experience?
Interesting. Secret lab says the software fabric is more pet friendly.
I would guess in terms of claws ripping the chair, odds are higher with the PU leather. In terms of shedding hair and general ease of cleaning, nothing beats the PU.
