Ruby, you're living my dream life. Living in the heart of Oxford, studying at Oxford Uni, and getting to enjoy all those beautiful libraries. Don't forget to soak in every moment of this part of your life
honestly, it's so incredible and magical to see just how happy you are at Oxford. your videos have always sparked such sheer joy but ever since the Oxford content, it's somehow amplified by magnitudes! glad you had a fun weekend :)
Ruby, your videos are like a breath of God, so soothing, and therapeutic. I love it when you study some subject or read a book as a way of taking a break actually from you main studies of the day. You're having a really exciting time there reading everything. I wish you well and hope you do great in your finals. You are a very hard worker, you should be immensely proud. Thank you for the hard work you have done putting these very interesting videos together.
Whenever I feel low I visit your channel. This place is a comfort for me. I too love to read and you inspire me so much. You literally live my dream life. You are amazing✨
Dear Ruby, you are living in my dream life. I've never got a chance to study like that. Since childhood I've always working and studying part time till my masters. But I always wanted to go for a real university, study, discuss and live like you. I never had a chance to siting in a library, looking at my screen, books, and taking notes. I still hope life will give me a such chance to study without thinking how to earn something. You a a fortunate girl and which you very all the best.
Hi Ruby, hope you're well. 🤗 Thanks for sharing your journey, experiences, and passions with us, for inspiring so many to study and work hard in such a wholesome way, and for showing us that despite its challenges learning can be really fun!
I agree with what you said about how spaces affect you differently. I lived in cities for about 7 years and was the most stressed in my entire life. My skin and mood was awful, I was so stressed and not myself all the time. I've recently moved back to the countryside and my skin and both physical and mental health have improved so much! I feel so much more myself and actually feel like I'm ✨thriving✨ for once.
This is the perfect video to watch in bed right before sleeping 🥰 So soothing and inspiring. I work in tech so completely different field. I used to struggle academically, to the point that I dropped out of high school. After a few years of erring and yearning for purpose, I started learning to code by myself in my room. I have since fallen in love with the craft. I am now working as a software engineer, and studying, by myself again, to delve into a different part of the field which is quite challenging. Watching your videos inspires me to keep working towards my goal. Thank you so much for sharing your passion with us!
I'm watching this having just done my admissions test for English at Cambridge today, and I just wanted to thank you for being such an academic motivation for me - the calm I get from watching your videos is unmatched 🥰
Ruby, I must thank you for your vlogs. I've been watching them for the past 4 days and they've helped me a lot to focus harder on both my job and studies.
I love watching your videos Ruby in general however, recently your Oxford videos have been filling me with so much warmth and happiness! I feel really proud of you and so privileged you are taking us on your journey! p.s. my favourite font is Calibri but more specifically in 11 and the page on 80% zoom! 🥰🥰
Happy Sunday to you, Ruby. I’ve only just stumbled into your channel this weekend on RUclips. Congratulations on your studies at Oxford. I can see from earlier videos that this has been an important achievement for you. The appeal of your content is quite charming. While I’m still attempting to quantify precisely what it is that draws me in, I’m enjoying it and your enthusiasm for the topical matter. I wish you safe travels for the upcoming Holidays and good health for you and your family.
Ruby, I recently stumbled upon your videos, and they've triggered a flood of memories from my university days, both the good and the challenging ones. Your content resonates deeply with me, evoking a range of emotions that I struggle to put into words. Despite your youth, your ability to explore and convey these complex feelings is nothing short of extraordinary.
It's so cool that you have a library open 24/7 there! Most libraries I've worked at closed at 20pm and only one library worked till 22pm. I can read anywhere but I find it hard to concentrate on writing so I need the library/cafe athmosphere to motivate myself.
Ok, favourite font is such a fun question! For me, it's either Times New Roman, or IM Fell English, which I think is so pretty. I also love a lot of the old typewriter ones ✨
Oh, thank you for the suggestion! Times New Roman is beautiful, of course, but I didn't know about IM Fell English till just now. (Immediately added it to my favorites!)
I love overhearing snippets of choirs, even if they're only rehearsing scales. I agree that romanticising your life is a wonderful thing to do. Life is difficult enough as it is: why not appreciate the small joys while we're at it?
Hi Ruby, I have been following your account for seven years now. I feel so grateful to see you happy and succeeding in the place that's your dream. I can't tell you how much my love for literature and history and poems (like The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe) and love for learning resonates with yours. You're my role model. My best wishes to you always. ❤
I do love Salome myself. I've read it loads of times. I think you are right when you say that the place we are in affects our mood and even our productivity. Nature is always the best. I read a poem by Wordsworth this morning and it always puts me in a good mood because I know what it feels like to enjoy Nature and that feeling of joy it can give me. My favourite font is Comic Sans but even Calibri is not bad. It depends on what type of things I have to write. Anyway, I really liked this video. a lot of studying and enthusiasm. It's evident you really love what you do. Hope you'll keep on sharing your readings and personal journey. ❤
I read a mix of traditional and e-books, and the feel of the book / device is really important. I love Folio society books - the quality of binding, illustrations and paper is exquisite. Not cheap (seriously not cheap), but as items of joy they are hard to beat.
I particularly agree with you about the idea of Green Space you have mentioned. It does affect our mental health in a significant way, as i have experienced by myself. It soothes our inner mind and plays a huge role in mindfulness as well. Anyways, i wish you the very best for your time in Oxford. Love and light ❤
I worked for a letterpress printer and fell in love with the serif typeface Bembo. But Perpetua by English type designer Eric Gill is lovely too. For a Sans Serif, Bliss 2 by Jeremy Tankard is exquisite.
Love your videos. I find they are thematic and meaningful somewhat. It is mindful romanticism, I would call it, something I have been doing myself and it’s changed everything for the better. Finding things daily that make you feel good is such a good exercise towards finding beauty in the ordinary, which then ripples into all aspects of your lives. We can all do with that. Whether it is a drink we have, a particular tea flavour, a jumper we wear, the weather, a place we study, people we choose to meet, a book we pick up - all of those things chosen consciously and on purpose make our days pleasure and joy filled, slow and mindful.
Ruby your videos are always a treat, I’m reading more thanks to your advices, thank you so much for helping us reach our potencial 🙏 all the best from Argentina.
I was on a Garamond streak for at least a couple of years. Then Calisto, and now I go between Times New Roman and Candara, which are pretty different. I still enjoy appreciate having so much choice since I remember the typewriter years 😉.
Went to a wedding in Oxford this Summer and I fell in love with the place. Me and my girlfriend stayed in the Lincoln College student halls. We both would have loved to have been students there (alas I went to UCLAN. She was accepted at Cambridge but chose Leeds) so I'm living vicariously through videos like yours. :D I'd giving anything to work in those libraries! Great videos! By the way, as a book cover designer, fave fonts are Trajan and Perpetua.
I just wanted to comment on here as I know others are probably thinking the same. When I first started watching you I didn’t know what to expect and as rude as this sounds I thought you would be another one of those boring RUclipsrs bragging about their grades. But you, ruby were different. You inspire so much to study and because of you I actually find motivation to do so. I just wanted to say it because I aspire to be more like ruby and people like her!
Thank you for the Mary Queen of Scots wormhole to dive down. She is part of my favorite era in history and I have not heard any of this yet! I also love Times New Roman. I just recently had a resume review and they said the font was outdated…I still find it classic 🤷🏻♀️
It's very specific but I fell in love with the Baskerville font, especially the old face one :) And fun fact that I learned from my professor last week: it's actually the font that was used for the first edition of the complete works of Voltaire in France !
The clip was totally worth any embarrassment! Even before you explained I was just in awe of watching it get dark over that beautiful dome and went back and watched it another time :)
All I imagine is that this ruby girl will be some one very important in this life and I can imagine her rather than be a great writer a uni professor. Good luck you are living a dream of all.
Garamond is my favourite fond, but I do like Times New Roman as well. Also, thank you so much, Ruby, for your time and work and effort that you put into these beautiful videos. They really are a delight and treat to watch. Wishing you all the best and lots of energy and calmness for your studying.
Garamond is so crisp and thin without being nondescript. Second is spectral for all the good points of Garamond, plus a freshness of spacing which makes you feel like you have all the oxygen you need, but in a font.
today i wrote my first letter, after a long time, but it feel good to write what i think and all, and it's because of her videos it give me the motivation to do it
I love Garamond too but my favourite at the moment is Constantia - I heard Ken Follett talk about it being his go-to font for writing so I tried it and I really like it :)
Glad you are enjoying Oxford! As my son is at MCS l pop into town regularly - l hope you have found the large Blackwells (opposite the Sheldonian )with the room downstairs that is like a library itself -the staff are so friendly!
I agree with you about Faber & Faber books, and I also love Harcourt Brace books. Between finishing my undergrad and starting graduate school, and then again after grad school until I was able to obtain an adjunct position, I worked as a bookseller at the Harcourt Brace Jovanovich (HBJ) Bookstore in downtown San Diego. My favorite part of the job was to sell copies of Harcourt Brace books printed as far back as the 1920s by such authors as Virginia Woolf, Sinclair Lewis, T.S. Eliot, George Orwell, James Thurber, etc. In the pre-Internet days, I received handwritten or typed letters from all over the US and the world, requesting our unsold (not used) books in stock. I borrowed my colleague's typewriter and responded to these letters, letting those inquiring about certain Harcourt Brace titles regarding their availability. I noted prices, shipping charges, any taxes that may apply, etc. Then the customers wrote back to me with their order and method of payment. I always included a handwritten note in each package. Selling these old imprints was such a fascinating part of my job as a bookseller. I was so sad when Harcourt Brace was gobbled up by Houghton Mifflin in 2007 ... such a legacy was just ... gone. :( I am excited though to have just been hired to work at a little backcountry library that is part of the San Diego County Library system, thus fulfilling another of my dreams, following bookselling, teaching at universities, and now working in a library! It's a small library that is the heart of this mountain community near where we used to live for 19 years. The elementary school is next door, so I'll be working with lots of children. I'm so thrilled!! :D And I've been a longtime devotee of the Segoe UI font. Very neat and uncluttered. ;) I'm also quite envious of your attending Evensong at St. John's. I am an Anglican (yes, even here in distant San Diego), but I became an Anglican long after I visited the UK in 1988 (after graduating from university). I do watch services from Canterbury Cathedral when I can, and I helped to edit a trial version of a Book of Common Prayer (2010) for the Reformed Episcopal Church. But my first introduction to the BCP was the 1662 British version (which I bought at the HBJ Bookstore), and the sheer poetry of that BCP brought me to the Anglican Church many years later. I apologize for writing a book here, but this video was so amazing that I couldn't resist responding to it in detail. ;) Thanks, Ruby, for taking the time to share your busy and studious weekend with us; it's the next best thing to actually attending Oxford myself!! With warmest regards, Susanne :)
The clip in question was TOTALLY worth the embarrassment...the clouds rolling by with the dome as the sky went dark was epic! Fall looks so crisp, clear, and blue at Oxford. Such a beautiful environment to learn.
I'm pleased to hear that! It made a sacrifice of my dignity to get that clip, but I don't regret it! And autumn is just beautiful! Is it your favourite season?
I’ve seen books to record what books I’ve read, who I’ve entertained, travel notes, etc. What I’d love to have is a book to keep track of letters I’ve sent. Ideally it would have a pretty faux leather cover with “Correspondence Tracker” written in elegant cursive on front. It would lay flat when open for easy access. The pages would be ruled with column headings that say, Date Sent, To, and Description. There could be an address section in back for friends & family I write to often. As a bonus, it would have a card showing examples of pretty penmanship tucked inside a front flap for easy reference, and some type of pen holder for an average size ball point pen. It might even have an elastic closer. Do you know if any such book exists? If so, will you please add a link to it in your description box? Thanks ever so!
I had the same reaction after reading Fern Hill by Dylan Thomas, talks about time and our relationship with it as it passes. Very moving read, in a way similar to the grave!
I haven't had any fun lately, 😭 You bring me joy!❤🙂I love the kind and generous heartwarming atmosphere that you create, your kind, easygoing, warm vibe. ❤I like the essence how you live on. I need to be true to myself and find a job I am passionate about. I want to find a way to live as who I really am.
Hahaha I love Garamond too! Also do you think you could do like a study tips type of video? I'm also doing my masters atm and i've had so much going on (both acdemically & personally) that i often find it hard to focus & be productive 😪
Such a lovely video! Thank you so much for sharing, I was having some bad anxiety today and you really helped my mind to slow down a bit. Hope you're having a great day
I was literally just watching one of your live study with me's when you posted this! Really enjoyed the video, as always!!☺️ I'm also studying English literature (undergrad still hehe) and our department's library is one of my absolute favorite spaces and just so special to me. Working in libraries can be lovely (and it tends to be a lifesaver for my motivation too sometimes😂) Again, really enjoyed this, take care and stay safe Ruby! 🧡
Bookman Old Style is a favorite font. By the time we hear from you next you should have completed your first term. I look forward to your reflections on your first term.
I bet if you made the cocoa with almond milk it would be delicious! Calibri, Century Gothic if I want to save toner or ink, Times New Roman is a classic but when I want to have fun...Captain Howdy (Ouija Board font).
Not me looking into how I can get my camera to turn purple in the dark and you wanting to get it fixed 🤭😄 I think it looks so cool and special in your videos. Absolutely enjoyed this video! The libraries you are studying in are just amazing 😍 and you capture it so well! So thank you for taking in the embarrassment
Hi Ruby! I'm really REALLY interested in applying to Oxford for a Masters Degree but find the application process very hard to understand (I'm from the United States so it's a bit different than applying to masters in the US). Could you do a video where you talk about the application process? I love watching your videos and think you are wonderful at explaining your thought process and general processes in life :)
Ruby, you're living my dream life. Living in the heart of Oxford, studying at Oxford Uni, and getting to enjoy all those beautiful libraries. Don't forget to soak in every moment of this part of your life
I can't tell you how much I'm appreciating it... & you should chase your dreams x

She is filming it so in the future she can remember how beautiful it was. ❤
Its not as easy as it looks though probably,it's just the aesthetic.
Soak in YOUR life and use Ruby as an example of making the most of your given situation, find and follow your passions, live your own dream life 💫🙏
honestly, it's so incredible and magical to see just how happy you are at Oxford. your videos have always sparked such sheer joy but ever since the Oxford content, it's somehow amplified by magnitudes! glad you had a fun weekend :)
Ah thank you so much! Truly, I could not be happier. It's not without stress, but I'm just so grateful for the intellectual challenge of it all :)
The whole environment of Oxford seems like a big, cozy blanket of comfort
Filming yourself in public can be tough - so, thank you, Ruby, for still getting those clips for us!!! Have a lovely weekend! 🧡

Same for me. I hope someday we’ll get the chance too❤
The timelapse of the skies whilst you were studying was DEFINITELY worth it 💕
ah thank you haha! I needed this comment ;)
Hi Ruby, hope you're well. 🤗 Thanks for sharing your journey, experiences, and passions with us, for inspiring so many to study and work hard in such a wholesome way, and for showing us that despite its challenges learning can be really fun!
Hello Ruby! I'm studying Architecture this term, and I absolutely love what you said about space and how it affects our lives! It was so inspiring!
I agree with what you said about how spaces affect you differently. I lived in cities for about 7 years and was the most stressed in my entire life. I work in tech so completely different field. I used to struggle academically, to the point that I dropped out of high school. Yes, Ruby's voice sends me to sleep 😴😂
The space where people study is very important. In my case it helps me to focused in the task. This place 9:11 is absolutely marvelous. Great video!!😃

Happy Sunday to you, Ruby. I’ve only just stumbled into your channel this weekend on RUclips. Congratulations on your studies at Oxford. Love Garamond and Crimson Pro for academic work; Calibri for personal; and a nice feel good font that's playful, like Lexend! happy studies!

Yes!! Garamond is my favorite font. Especially the italicized Q and z?? The BEST.
I’m a Century Gothic girl. I like it’s roundness and ease of reading. It makes nice headings too.
Favorite fonts are furura and jost. I just love how clean and simple they look!

I'm also quite envious of your attending Evensong at St.
I apologize for writing a book here, but this video was so amazing that I couldn't resist responding to it in detail. ;)
Thanks, Ruby, for taking the time to share your busy and studious weekend with us; it's the next best thing to actually attending Oxford myself!!
With warmest regards,
Susanne :)
Thank you for this video Ruby, as always. I am so glad you are enjoying your studies in a magical place.
I love bookman old style. You should try it, you'll love it too!
For the font, it's Aptos for me at the moment :)
Great vid, Ruby! Keep it up!
I was a Times New Roman girly cause of APA formating, but Calibri was recently approved for APA and I must say I prefer it.
I had the same reaction after reading Fern Hill by Dylan Thomas, talks about time and our relationship with it as it passes. Very moving read, in a way similar to the grave!
Calibri will always be my favourite font, especially for creative writing projects, but I've also been on a Roboto streak recently😅
Late, but I love Aubrey Beardsley's illustrations in Salome. One of my favourite artists ❤
Hahaha I love Garamond too! Also do you think you could do like a study tips type of video? I'm also doing my masters atm and i've had so much going on (both acdemically & personally) that i often find it hard to focus & be productive 😪
My favorite fonts and the fonts that I'm pretty sure that you are going to like are the Cormorant Unicase.
Rubyyy....the holiday will come!!!..🎉🎉🎉. You will be home soon❤. Do not forget your lovely comfortable home vlog. Love seeing cotagge life🌼🌼🌱🌹💐
Such a lovely video! Thank you so much for sharing, I was having some bad anxiety today and you really helped my mind to slow down a bit. Hope you're having a great day
I loved that you changed your outro. Thanks❤
I adore the life you live. May you be blessed even more ❤
I love times new Roman. Always have used it for university assignments :)
I find your dedication so inspiring. I'm a first year under grad with the OU, I'm 36, I have two assignments due and I'm soooooooooo behind 😢
You can do this ! 😊 I ( a stranger from the internet) believe in you 🍀
Team OU here too you can do it
My favourite font currently is Lora, I’ve been using it for all my college papers. ❤ Much love from Canada 🇨🇦
My first name is Salomé, I half-laughed in surprise every time you spoke about the book x)
You made this video so aesthetic I love it!!
I would love to hear more about the student benefits (clubs, dinners, events!)
Oh how I love these videos! So relaxing to watch 😌
Bookman Old Style is a favorite font. By the time we hear from you next you should have completed your first term. I look forward to your reflections on your first term.
I love Times New Roman too! I've been using it for everything when it comes to uni work - from essays to projects. I use it for my job stuff as well 😅
Good choice!
Ruby's like a Princess in Fairy-Tale!
Thank u SO much for your inspirational video! I believe one day I'll become like you!
Much love from UA ❤🇬🇧🇺🇦
Our environment changes our mindset - yes yes, spot on
I bet if you made the cocoa with almond milk it would be delicious!
Calibri, Century Gothic if I want to save toner or ink, Times New Roman is a classic but when I want to have fun...Captain Howdy (Ouija Board font).
This routine suits you perfectly, you are an inspiration
Not me looking into how I can get my camera to turn purple in the dark and you wanting to get it fixed 🤭😄 I think it looks so cool and special in your videos. Absolutely enjoyed this video! The libraries you are studying in are just amazing 😍 and you capture it so well! So thank you for taking in the embarrassment
Ah that's so funny! It perfectly encapsulates the "another's treasure" saying :) and I'm pleased you appreciate the cause of my awkwardness! x
Garamond is my favourite font, I use it for all of my papers because we have to use a serif font :)
