Dave is a true old school craftsman. He builds everything to last. Solid, just like Fort Knox. Great that he is willing to give back to the community too. 👍👍
I especially like how he worked smart and poured them in place as to not have move them into position.
Worked for a small Concrete company when I was a kid. LOVED IT! We would make these in between jobs. Concrete is SO COOL and there is so much you can do with it if you know how. Thanks for the memories.
Your welcome
@@OdellCompleteConcrete you mean YOU'RE welcome.
So relaxing, I’m addicted to your vids. This is an art form, my favorite part is the tool that makes the gritty part look like watery putty.
Yes its a good tool.
TY
Love these videos- I’m single older woman and need to create a patio and extend my driveway. Wasn’t sure how to get it done on my own - until now!! Thank you!
GL
You still single?
This was such a nice surprize in my feed! You are such a good teacher! And the end result is so beautiful!! Thank you for this present! :)
Sure, thank you!
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Anyway....you area great teacher! And I approve of this message. :)
Nothing as relaxing and satisfying, as watching a master craftsman at work putting a beautiful trowel finish on concrete. Thanks to your videos and a couple of others videos on here, concerning concrete work, I've gained so much knowledge and hands on skills over the past 5 years, that I now run my own business...Konkrete Worx LLC
Nice
Get it on
GL
David is a gift that keeps giving! I have not done a single project yet but I told my wife I know how to do a lot of things because I watched a lot of Odell Complete Concrete RUclips videos.
Looks like your locked in
Love this video, I appreciate how it's geared towards homeowners who could easily knock out a sidewalk or patio project in a couple weekends. Sure it's nice to have a truck come and pour it all in one go but if you're short on cash this could be a great option! Just need a little ground prep and moisture barrier for us up in the rust belt.
For sure
So, I have never heard the term before so I googled it: rust belt "The Rust Belt refers to the geographic region from New York through the Midwest that was once dominated by manufacturing. The Rust Belt is synonymous with regions facing industrial decline and abandoned factories rusted from exposure to the elements."
But this doesn't sound right to me.... cause what does this have to do with moisture or ground prep?
So obviously I found something else. Could you explain what and where a rust belt is?
@@SpliFFFFFFF Rust belt in my mind is Up north where it snows and the ground freezes. Heavy salting on the roads and sidewalks depending on the type, eat away at the surfaces. Including vehicles! Concrete work needs a bit more prep work to keep from heaving due to the freeze thaw cycle.
@@SpliFFFFFFFcorrect. But he just means in the rust belt (Midwest/Great Lakes/ny) you need to do extra ground prep to avoid frost heaving. You need to have a deep gravel base and then sand.
You're a great teacher for DIY'rs.. Thank you!
Wow, thank you!
I really like and appreciate how you explain and instruct and warn as you make your projects. I hope you have a very merry Christmas to you and your crew.
Thank you! You too!
@@OdellCompleteConcrete No kidding. He's like the Bob Ross of concrete.
Just saw your excellent video. Nice to see real craftsmen explaining how to do it correctly. Good job.
Trowling and floating that concrete looks so relaxing. I bet it's therapeutic.
Yes I think it is
I could watch your videos over and over, thank you for putting these out. You really make me want to jump in and try doing some concrete work.
For the new year I have a few suggestions for videos I would love to see.
First is a suggested tools for diyers, for instance how big of a mixer do I need if I want to do projects like this one on a regular basis around my house.
My other suggestion is a video on site clean up to keep my wife happy and avoid leaving evidence of the work I've done.
Oh also I was thinking this would be a nice option for a sidewalk along my driveway, if I wanted to have one edge exposed how long should I wait before I concider taking the form off to finish one of the edges?
Good idea
We will try it
Oh man at the 9 minute mark that was beyond absolute perfection. I would have given anything to see how that was going to dry. Absolute masterpiece!!! You couldn’t have smoothed that out any better. I really LOVED that first surface. You did an outstanding job. I never knew it was so time consuming. I thought you put the concrete in your form, let it dry a bit, then smooth it out. I really the dimensions too.
its always good to see someone experienced making something look really easy, when it's probably not. thanks for sharing
TY
I saw this concrete finish in a house in British Columbia I stayed in back in July, looked really great and the guy told us how it was created.
Thank you for sharing! You are a good instructor, and covered all the bases nicely, thanks again for taking the time to share your many years of experience!

What a great gift! Thanks Dave!

What impeccable craftsmanship. I watched from the first minute to the last. Thank you.

These videos you make are the best. Amazing skills and knowledge, thanks for sharing them!
Glad you like them!
I've found that making the bottoms concave a little bit keeps them from rocking as they settle into the subtropical sand/clay ground here in Southeastern Louisiana. For smaller stepping-stones I use hardware cloth to impress a waffle-pattern into the tops to avoid slipping on them as the green algae grows on them. It grows on every surface,: plastic siding, vehicles, windows, metal, wood, concrete...if I sat still long enough it'd probably cover my body.
Wow that's intense.
I guess everything grows well there?
@@OdellCompleteConcrete I lived in the desert all my life until 9 years ago and that's when I learned that the expression "Sub-tropical" means "Almost Tropical." Every year we have to walk around chopping little trees down because they grow like weeds here, as do countless shrubs, flowers, grasses, etc.
This is a great instructional video, very useful, especially for those who want or need custom sized concrete pavers, it is possible to create a form and make virtually every size and form. thanks!
This was so helpful - thank you for sharing your expertise!
Thank you so much for all of your videos.....they inspire me so much!
You are awesome, sir!
Thank you!
This is exactly how my city sidewalks look in western Washington after rinsing them. Now I know how they might have done it and I can closely match if I ever get the courage to fix my cracked and lifting little front walk.
Right on

Now that's very informative. I'm getting ready for some yard cementing for this spring and summer. This is good to know Thanks for the vid
Glad it was helpful!
I iou up hip hip
Thank for showing the technical side of making a paver with a great finish.

I like the exposed aggregate. Making pavers like this is a neat idea, you could make the forms and do a couple every now and then, like on the weekend or after work or something, and before yo know it you have a whole pile of these things for whatever project you need. Best of all, pavers can be picked up and reused. Even if you didn't want them later, someone would gladly take them.
Yes, I concur
Thanks for the video David! I'll be making these soon! 👍
right on
Thank you, Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Happy holidays!
Just caught this today! amazing and thank you for the amazing Christmas gift.. you inspired me to gift and share my talent

These are great videos with hands-on demonstrations and how-to DIY. I have been busy with these projects at my home. Thank you to O'Dell fo sharing. I appreciate you talking freely to all of us and sharing your experience. I see this video is already a year old, so am a little late to the game. But I am hooked on this and a new subscriber.
Thanks again!
Awesome video for DIY people who want to learn cement basics. If it doesn't turn out right, no harm done - just reuse the forms 👍
Yes thats true

umm effin badass! Sorry for swearing, love it. Im gonna slowly make a little area by shed for basketball court for my girls. very inexpensive and satisfying as well. Gave me inspiration for power washing and sealing my existing patio. Thanks so much for sharing!
So the sand finish came in the concrete or did you add it when mixing?
I love your vids Mike. Think I've seen them all. My favorites are ones like these and your wall vids. They end up looking so good. Things i hope one day I'll be able to do myself.
Sand is part of the concrete
wish you would have shown the process of removing the pavers from the forms. Loved it!
Next time.

I love how much you love what you do. It shows. Thank you!
Omg I’m so glad I found your video. You just saved me a few thousand dollars 🙌🏾 Amazing job thanks for sharing
Glad I could help!
Has anyone ran the cost numbers yet on buying vs making?
I mean it's all about your time. That's why he just does a couple when he feels like it. If you buy a pallet from home depot its about $20 per piece but they are only 2" thick and the finish is inferior. Plus you have to buy a pallet at that price. A bag of 5000 is less than 6 bucks. Plus it's a good way to practice.
You are so talented and humble and make it look so easy...nice and cool video
That cocky guy at best n west probably disliked it.
Cheers from the Caribbean
Thank you so much 😀
Hi David, that looks great, hope you and your family abd staff have a great New year, best regards from Australia.

great work and nice finish. Have you ever tried using recycled glass in these? I was wondering if when you rinse you could take off the forms and expose the aggregate sides as well?

David, this is an older video, but I just bought a house, and the patio (702 square feet) is 50 year old 12x24 pavers. They're in horrible shape, and most of them are broken. This is the exact video I needed. Thank you!
Great

@@OdellCompleteConcrete The only thing that bothers me is finding that type of sand that goes in between the pavers, that once you wet it, it becomes like a mortar or grout. What's that stuff called?
Wow this was amazing & simple . Well done !
