You get a sense of enjoyment and peace looking back. I hated every second of them but once it’s done and over…you tend to cry a little… knowing that did the impossible.
Just finished it today, for the third time. By God, how painful it is. However, I found Downfall harder in the opening room. I've found a pattern where if you land yourself in an open killing zone, the only option is to sit back and take pot shots with ranged weapons to thin out enemies in hiding spots until you can move up, as your teammates are as useful as a battalion of stormtroopers sometimes. Though they do provide a healthy ammo source.
Sour, you didn't get killed by a pillar. You got killed by a massive and tall Grenade, that so happened to support the building and exploded when it hit you specifically.
(Spoilers for BO1) Imagine dodging all of those grenades, planting the Red Army flag in Berlin, just to die to Nova gas months later... by your own commander's orders too.
The japanese ambushes in this game are so well scripted, I remember playing this when it came out and being paranoid of getting that ammo drop at shuri castle
Interesting fact: Chernov’s diary entry at the start of downfall changes depending on your actions a few missions back earlier in the game (vendetta,their land their blood and eviction) I didn’t know till I saw another video a few months back that showed them all

Yeah because an example is that in Eviction when you enter the subway you come in contact with 3 german soldiers and if you fire first or last the diary entry changes
so refreshing to see WaW get some love it deserves. anyone who beat this on veteran should be eligible for financial compensation. but jokes aside. WaW is my favorite cod ever right next to MW2. man I wish we could get a remaster of it

Cod:waw was genuinely one of the hardest veteran campaigns I've played. The ai loved to throw tons of grenades and they were so accurate you basically had to have an automatic weapon so that you could pop out of cover, fire a few rounds, then get back into cover. Then the grenades came and you had to run between 2-3 spots till they chilled out long enough for you to return fire again
Getting the Raygun on Peleliu is not something you stumble across, it's a pretty specific set of puddles/craters/puddle-craters to go through in a direction you'd normally not travel, so yeah.

Very nostalgic, was also one of my Fav COD campaign experiences and to finish on Veteran felt so rewarding, especially as you got to play the original Zombies level before they decided to unlock it for everyone. Sours commentary pretty much mirrored my own from back in the day! Well other than missing the first satchel charge supply drop of course 😉

I had such visceral flashbacks to my time playing through Blowtorch & Corkscrew on Veteran. A real ballache of a mission. I do love it though. This game as a whole just brings back such fantastic memories for me.
World at War on veteran is when the enemies realize they're in a Cod game and the only way to stop you is arming themselves with more nades than bullets
Clears the infamous HOTR on Veteran in 25 minutes, something that took me the better part of an afternoon. Someone check with Dank on when the Absolute Mad Lads ep on SOur is coming out.
To be fair, I reckon it took me about an hour on HOTR. Burn 'em Out was my bane. Probably took me a week to beat it seeing enemies rescanned infinitely and the Type 99 killed you almost instantly.

I’m doing my own veteran play through of this game now that I’ve started your series on it, and I’m currently near the end on blowtorch and corkscrew. So far it hasn’t been awful but “relentless” was a pain in the ass, and when I was almost finished with it my power went out so once it came back I had to start from the beginning again.. I’m a little worried for “heart of the reich” honestly, lol
it took me hours to beat Blowtorch and Corkscrew, and on my second veteran playthrough. I could've finished sooner, but I literally died in the end cutscene so I had to go back to the checkpoint. It started playing but I was still getting shot, I don't know the physics of that.
@@ethan1937 I agree. On the part that this is a huge improvement from the me series (in my opinion). The only cod or fps games in general that can compete the fun I had with this game are Black ops 1 and 2. Aside from these 3 games, all CoD games are in the nearly perfect tier.

I got through half of them then quit for over a year....then went back and finished em....but DAMN!!! The theme song for CoD:WaW was one of the hardest hitting theme songs of all time, it really felt impactful in the battle at the end, I remember beating this when I was 11 and the song alone made me want to keep pushing to beat it, WaW is the GOAT, brought us zombies (why my name is zombie) and one of the most fun campaigns with an iconic ending.
This is the first cod I started with. 8 years old playing this gem. Zombies scared the living hell out of me. The best cod I’ve ever played. The realness, eerie settings, and breathtaking scenery make this cod legendary.
Spoiler I can't believe you didn't save Roebuck 😭😭😭😭 I cri everytime 1:11:30 this is the best mission in the game. My heart. 1:35:00 you missed such a heartbreaking moment :/ 1:54:25 I only enjoy the finest of 4 hour playthroughs
For the hard pillar fall mission, i didn’t know you could stay back, kill people, and then go up later to get to the pillar fall. When I finished the game on veteran, I got up there and stayed there holding until that happened. It is so hard with the grenade spam that I was at it for hours until I finally got lucky and the grenade spam wasn’t too bad. You also have to keep popping up and down to decrease the amount of grenades even before your healed.
I finished this on xbox on veteran about 3 weeks ago, i can tell you now the ai was faster, more aggressive and there was a lot more of them, i wouldn't be entirely surprised if waw for pc received more updates than the console version and one of those made it easier
I just finished this on PC(Veteran) about a month ago and remember people saying this was the hardest campaign in the whole series. Boy were they right. Even when I played the 360 back in the day I remember being brought to tears planting that flag, cause to get there was a hoot.
Watching u get crushed by the pillar was my favorite part I loved that u played veteran on waw cause it’s my favorite game out of all other treyarch games and is pretty damn hard to complete
One detail I really appreciate is that you can shoot the soldiers attacking roebuck and actually save him! This campaign is just so damn good with its level design and story holy hell
You could get a ray gun on the beach mission of this game with a cheat where you did something in certain blast impacts on the sand good times can't remember how to do it but I do remember running around in story mode with a ray gun this was truly a great game
I agree. I don't think sour likes infinite Warfare, but infinite warfares campaign on specialist difficulty would be fun to watch where you need helmets to stop enemies from 1 shot killing you and manual healing. Best campaign in regards of difficulty and unique mechanics. :D I enjoyed it
I dropped my veteran playthrough after several days of trying to get through Ring of Steel. Fucking nazi grenade wizards... Can't start to imagine sheer chaos that is Heart of Reich. Deep respect for completing the campaign

I ended up using the Arisaka and other bolt-action rifles more than any other weapon really just because of the abundance of ammo.

One detail I really appreciate is that you can shoot the soldiers attacking roebuck and actually save him! This campaign is just so damn good with its level design and story holy hell

You could get a ray gun on the beach mission of this game with a cheat where you did something in certain blast impacts on the sand good times can't remember how to do it but I do remember running around in story mode with a ray gun this was truly a great game

I agree. I don't think sour likes infinite Warfare, but infinite warfares campaign on specialist difficulty would be fun to watch where you need helmets to stop enemies from 1 shot killing you and manual healing. Best campaign in regards of difficulty and unique mechanics. :D I enjoyed it

Believe it or not, COD WAW had several cut levels. Just imagine if the devs had time to implement them.
