TheICEgirl6100 someone went back and looked at the reviews of the book at the time it was published and they found that that scene was rarely referenced. So weird. I think when the book gained a teenage/YA readership, “the scene” gained the notoriety it has today. (I sure as hell was messed up by it when I read it at 12.) It’s funny. It kinda goes along with the book’s theme of adults not noticing things that kids/teens DEFINITELY pick up on.
Ruby, this novel wasn't written by the character. It was written by King and he is the one who created the very internal logic and premise of the act in the novel you cite as a reason for people not to find it dubious. No. it does not work like that. King is a grown man writing a scene like this in a book and so the complaint is that and not if the character he wrote to want the act is the one who should determine the merit of the act. it's like saying it's okay that a writer creates a scene of abuse because in the novel the character wanted it............oh....wait.
In King's defence, Bev was strangely sexualised throughout the whole book. Bev's description of the perfect donger was the first description I ever read. Her husband is abusive and I vaguely remember a scene with Bev and her dad that made me _wait wut_ as well as the sewer incident.. and maybe also gossip that she might be a bit of a ho? Then again, I also remember that Henry covers his belly button because Henry is a big boy and there are probably other unnecessarily sexual scenes or undertones at times. Perhaps King is confused about we fixate on just that ONE scene, when there's plenty of others to choose from too. Other than a disturbing layer of character development, the sexual stuff doesn't really add anything of substance to the story so I can see why they would leave it out of retellings. That and the whole 'really creepy' thing. I'd like to think that King was trying to play on invoking visceral disgust in back of the reader's mind, to enhance the fear in the story with some subconscious negative emotions. I'd really like to think that..
Ok this book crazy af lmao wasn't expecting any of that. Kiddy orgy's, omnipotent turtle god, the way to kill "it" by chewing on his tongue, and just what "it" is, I'm so lost haha.

I’ve been studying dramaturgy (noun - the theory and practice of dramatic composition) for years and this guy puts me to shame in the most epic and funniest fashion. Well done good sir.
I feel nostalgic seeing a shirt in classic Grove Street green.
Can you do The Plague Dogs by Richard Adams?
William Glass no because it sucks
William Glass I second this. This, or Watership Down.
S Makhanya Both great books in their own rights.
Not well known enough. But yes I am aware of it.
Yes make it happen
Love this series
This guy is making me interested in literature. Nice! HAHAHAHAHA
Deep i don t like the negative portrayal but the thought process openned my eyes big time. It is one of my favorite novels from child hood but i just loved the story like many of King's works. This however gave me a moment of pause to examine it further got to reread
Man i love these shows you bring allot of classics back in a clever way keep it up homie
Lit AF!!!
Azmorph Bruh, you're the one commenting how many days later?

THE HELL IS A CLOWN DOIN DOWN THERE
Never knew this dude existed. I’m glad I found someone who makes videos like me.
I do videos in the same tone except about American History.
This series is my favorite concept. Keep up the good videos 'cause I'll be here watching them.
*_THAT MOVIE SCARED THE ---- OUTTA ME!_*
I'd love to see you do A Scanner Darkly.
Damn. Random Thug Note vid popped up in my YT feed, and I thought Sparky was back.
The "Woo! He dead!" will never not be funny.
When you have an essay due in the morning but Thug Notes is too damn entertaining.
“Hoopty-ass bike” is always my favorite part
Can you do stephen king the Stand
And do Flowers in the attic by V.C. Andrews Mr. Thug.
Can you do One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn?
Great choice ^
Yass!
Very inspiring tale.
William Glass no fuck you
Either that or Darkness at Noon, by Arthur Koestler. Usually I'd not be optimistic about something critical of socialism seeing the light of day on a RUclips channel like this, but he did review The Fountainhead a while ago. (A book I am personally not much of a fan of, truth be told, but I will take what I can get in 2017.)
Lol love the 1812 overture at the end there😂😂
I love the content of this channel. So original.
