    Should have included a dedicated headlamp. Always handy when you need to be hands-free. I use the Fenix LM60R because it has both flood and spot lights as well as a low-power red light.

      There's an argument to be made that a good headlamp is more useful than any other style of light. Honestly, if I was forced to only have one light, it would be a headlamp.

    Great review thank you. I love researching products. For me it’s back bone of a well informed purchase. I purchased the Olight Javelin Pro for hunting. Couldn’t go past the Fenix PD36R Pro for goto work horse. My job is on the front line so throw and spread is everything.

    my picks to fill your categories:
    thrower: Convoy L7, sbt90.2 and you can use 26800 batteries.
    flooder: Sofirn Q8 pro, its a soda-can light but 11k lumens and runs forever with 4 18650 batteries, plus it has a tri-pod mount hole.
    indoor self defense: gun (i'm american)
    outdoor self defense: you guessed it, gun. For a light though I use wurkkos fc12, sft40, tailswitch, and its small and lightweight.
    general use and nighttime light I combined because they're pretty much the same thing. I use a wurkkos ts10 or a emisar d4k. They both have aux lights for finding them in the dark and low moonlight modes.

    Noob question, for walking through the forest is a thrower or a floodlight more suitable?

    • @flashlightcrazy
      @flashlightcrazy  Год назад +1

      Honestly depends on what you're intending on seeing. A light more towards flood would probably be more useful, due to the fact it will illuminate a broader area directly in front of you. But if you are intending on searching for things at a distance then a good thrower will offer decent spill anyway so that will work too.

    • @HarryPooter541
      @HarryPooter541 10 месяцев назад

      Both!

    • @zampination
      @zampination 3 месяца назад

      I did a test of several of my flashlights through the forest and the best beam that i've ever used was coming from the Sofirn if22a. Reason was that it has a TIR lens which what essentially does is to provide a long thrower beam but not too excessive, perfect for illuminating amazingly 50-100m if you'll ever need that much in a forest, and the spill(the peripheral illumination) goes from brighter to darker from inside the hotspot onto the far edges of your vision. The TIR lens has the difference that it's spill doesn't have edges at all it just fades out left and right. This is particularly great in the forest cause you can see everything up close with the spill at a 180 degree angle left and right without the light of the spill being too distracting. On the contrary a regular reflector light will create hard edges in the spill and those hard edges are particuarly annoying when walking through the forest, quite distracting i would say. So with the if22a not only you got a capable thrower(700m) but great peripheral illumination in the forest while doing so. Now this Sofirn may not be the best preserving those high 1800 lumens light with the sft40 so you'll have to look elsewhere for sustained outputs, just make sure that the light will have a TIR lnes, it doesn't have to be the Sofirn if22a, it could be the far more throwing(with a bigger head) Wurkkos td01c that throws 1000meters and can keep the high output for much much longer. The if22a on high it can sustain 1000 lumens for about 10 minutes which is plenty for the forest eitherway. But don't let my thoughts guide you towards the if22a exclusively, what you want is sustained output in the forest so keep searching for a light that can do that but also has a TIR lens similar size to the if22a

    In home self defence? In Australia? Na jokes aside, I've been tossing up between the x3 and the 3s, I'm a fram hand on a large scale cattle property to put my needs into perspective

    • @flashlightcrazy
      @flashlightcrazy  Год назад

      X3 would do you better in my opinion. Brighter for longer and reaches way further

    • @MOOSERVERTE
      @MOOSERVERTE 6 месяцев назад

      I have both. I personally use the X3 for "outdoor self defence". It has significantly higher candela, which is useful in dimly lit conditions outside (streetlights etc.) and at slightly longer distances. I carry it in a man bag on my chest so it is always easy to access. I then use the warrior 3S as my bedside "indoor self defence" torch. It's not quite as blindingly painful for my own eyes off of indoor white walls as the X3 is at night (a positive in my opinion), and in the "tactical" UI configuration (momentary only turbo and strobe) it is a BEAST in fully dark conditions. Blast with turbo / strobe and move, as @flashlightcrazy often talks about. I don't find the candela makes any difference at indoor distances and in complete darkness (i.e. my house at night). The X3 (and all olight tail switches) also does have a tendency to sometimes go to constant on when I'm only after momentary. This isn't an issue outdoors where I intend to blast someone and run, but indoors the momentary flashes of light and moving is more important and so I am a fan of the "tactical" UI the 3S offers. Hope that helped!
