Very cool. When I learned how to install my own HVAC units I learned about the triple evac method for the line sets. I couldnt get nitrogen and a regulator my first go round so I used Co2. It did fine but nitrogen would have been preferable. Then the filter system here is awesome. I just hope we make the great leap to digital night vision soon and you all can keep using these skills to move NVG technology into the current century. You definitely have the customer service aspect nailed out of the park.
I can't believe I'm doing this. You drive a tough bargain man, I'll come up to 2 pb&j sandwiches, Doritos, and a cool aid. But no way I can do anymore than that!
Do you offer a service to purge self-assembled night vision units? If someone were to build a BNVD for example using parts purchased from your shop, could they send the unit in at some point to be purged? If so, how much would the service cost?
You can get it purged as often as you like but it’s not necessary. If you notice moisture inside the device you would want to get us serviced. The technician would locate the point of ingress, repair that, then repurge.
I was in the Army and they were "supposed" to be purged regularly. If I remember correctly 6 months for high usage units and annually for low usage units. It's more of a preventative measure. Over 6 months or a year in the muddy wet field, they are exposed to a lot of the elements. A typical owner who had to buy them with their OWN money is going to take care of them a lot better and doubtfully needs purging that regularly unless there is a bad seal. When not in use it's best to keep them in a sealed box (pelican or ammo can for example) with a pack of desiccant inside. If there is a bad seal then the desiccant should help draw it out while in storage.
0:56 I took off little screw valve, then trying to put in a hose from the regulator but it doesn't fit. So How can we get right adaptor? Can I get partnumber? I want to know the exact role of the valve. Thank you.
Okay i have a question, if i wanted to buy a set of elbit xlsh wp tubes but i have elbit xlsh gp tubes, could i use the gp tubes as like a "trade"/ buy in for the wp tubes?
With that background music playing, I can't tell if it feels more like I'm watching the video while stuck in an elevator, or if I'm in a hotel bed watching late-night Cinemax. Either way now I'm turned on. Thank you.
You absolutely can keep a NVG purged while reinstalling the plug screw. I'm certain real government contracted manufacturers would just work on these items in a glove box which itself has been nitrogen purged. And 20 inches of mercury a laughably poor vacuum. I'm very confused when you're using a MityVac pump intended for changing brake fluid in a car instead of a real vacuum pump. Even as far as MityVacs go, you have the shitty plastic one instead of the aluminum one. Air conditioning systems are regularly purged to less than 200 microns before they're charged, for comparison the 20 inches of mercury your standard is actually 508,000 microns! An absolutely massive difference in the amount of water vapor removed. They also hold a vacuum for a lot longer than you have to give the water a chance to boil off and turn in to vapor which can be pumped out, and use massively larger hoses which further gives the vapor a better chance of being removed. You think because you got a lab coat embroidered and say state of the art it will in turn make up for your lack of knowledge. This entire video is something I expected from some guy DIY'ing it, not an actual commercial company trying to prove to their customers that this is how it is supposed to be done.
dude you're so far out of touch with reality. L3 defiantly doesn't purge these in a glove box. Ive found hair inside 31as on more occasions than I can count. All the major manufacturers recommend those values as well as this equipment. Its not an hvac system.. they get repaired in the field (outside) in warzones and typically they're not purged at all.

Yeah we can, you would probably want to have it collimated also.
Is the nitrogen purge a one and done service, or does the unit need to be purged multiple times throughout its life? If so how often?
Every 6-12 months is what I heard. Basically, o ring is what holds the purge. They leak over time.

not familiar with that device.
Do I need to repurge device(Tanto) after I’ve unscrewed and screw back 1 RPO lens? Thank you. Regards
I mean you dont have to.
Hello!
Do you have an nsn for the gauges you use?
Which gauges?
Do you guys just sell parts, or do you sell completed units?
Okay i have a question, if i wanted to buy a set of elbit xlsh wp tubes but i have elbit xlsh gp tubes, could i use the gp tubes as like a "trade"/ buy in for the wp tubes?
Last time I asked that was a negative. You have to sell them on your own and pay the difference.
Can i use argon for purging ?
yes
@@customnightvision allright thanks, then i purge mine with 100% argon !

Schrader valve? Not to be nit picky, I would rather have 3 to 5 bar of nitrogen in that tube
they would have to open up the area for a bigger fitting. never saw one smaller than 1/8" NPT before.
Yeah there’s no room for a check valve that large.
