    The best we can get where I live are photonis tubes. I got a 2337 echo with 69 lp, 33.87 snr and 9988 gain (31k in us units) and I have to say that I don't mind the dimmer output. I even turn the gain down most of the time because I don't want it too bright in dark conditions. I've used US gen 3 as well, and I can't say that the photonis is much worse at all. It's just a bit dimmer.

    I think most of the people who are wanting NVG they are new to the community and are a bit ignorant. Most of us buying these are either prior military or law enforcement. I’ve used crap tubes in the military and also in law enforcement. The tubes I used in the military had blems and the ones from SWAT had less or no blems. If you have an open mind you can learn a lot from these guys or just ask someone who has hundreds if not thousands of house of use in different either combat situations or SWAT situations.

    There is very little you will be able to do to convince the far sides from their options. My critique was based on your examples favoring one use over another and you can’t adjust for that. Each user has to understand the differences. I think you sorta touched on that again. People tend to think L3 is the best at everything and you can’t get better … that L3 are the top of the line when that’s actually not true. While there are crappy tubes, each tube will work differently in different lighting environments, in different situational environments and you have to know what you’re gonna be doing with your tube. The most novel thing to do is tell people where a product sucks, not what it’s good at. Make the list of pros and cons for each tube but I think you guys might’ve already done that or maybe that was another seller I’m not sure

    I am now in the market for one of these and having issues trying to understand the differences on the spec sheets. Now I am a photographer in my only question is when you are using your camera to record did you have it set to complete manual settings also the ISO that you choose to use affects the amount of noise you are seeing from your video camera meaning these tubes may be actually clear than this video is showing because you're getting the noise from the actual tube and no light condition and noise from your camera videoing in no light condition. I would just like to know if you shot this in manual setting for everything and not auto

      Hey great question! We shoot our intensifier tube footage with a Sony FX3 and a Sony 24mm f2.8 G lens. The camera settings are locked specifically for tube footage and they do not deviate between tubes. For full transparency the footage is shot in 4K 60p, 1/125, 640iso(the lowest setting), exposure +1.7, the lens f-stop is locked at 2.8 and is set to manual focus. I hope this gives you some clarity on our footage.

    • @kevin11288
      @kevin11288 5 месяцев назад +2

      Honestly, its very minimal. everything over 34-35 is just extra. you can see a slight difference in the amount of scintillation in the darkest of environments between say 33 and 40 SNR but its not as drastic as you may think. we chose these tubes so that the viewing experience was good while also demonstrating the diferent manufactures capabilities and characteristics.

    Someone said you guys use tubes that are “too high spec”? 😂. Such BS. I’m sorry y’all are having to deal crap like that on here. Typical social media. Never happy. I speak from personal experience when I say CNV is one of the best civilian NV stores in the US. Buyers deserve top quality spec tubes, and these guys make that happen for us.

    Here is a idea.
    Compare the sensitivity to 940nm illuminators. (I'm thinking about a 5mm led to help with walking in very dark spots)
    And maybe 980nm lasers. (can people with different tubes point stuff out o each other at some distance with a civilian legal laser in high light and low light)

    Is it just me or did that Elbit look like it had more noise than the photonis?

    • @aesthetic8780
      @aesthetic8780 5 месяцев назад +1

      It does. Elbit tubes have a thin-film inside! Filmed tubes losing about 20% on SNR performance.
      Photonis tubes are Filmless. No photons get stopped by the Film.
      Elbit also has higher gain.

    • @musicman1eanda
      @musicman1eanda 5 месяцев назад

      @@aesthetic8780 You're saying an elbit with 30snr actually only has 24?

    • @aesthetic8780
      @aesthetic8780 2 месяца назад

      @@musicman1eandaNo, if your spec sheet says 30 SNR it's 30 SNR :)
      All good.
      They are noisy because of higher Gain. You need better SNR if you want a less noisy image at higher gain levels.
      But in reality when produced without film, the Elbit would have 30% better SNR.
      This means you would get less noise because it would be in perfect balance with Gain.

    Thanks for the video, it was very helpful for me. I have an RNVG-A housing right now that I’m needing tubes for and I’m trying to decide which. Can I afford any of the ones here? yup, that’s not an issue. Do I want to spend money for the hell of it? Yeah, no. So I’m currently leaning Elbit. My eyes don’t see the difference between them and the L3 being worth the coin. I’m currently running gen 2+ green tubes and have to assume these will be a big upgrade regardless
