They also take time to work with customers. I just ordered a device from them but I wanted a fairly high spec L3 tube. They were willing to work with me and got me what I was looking for. Most companies are more of a "take it or leave it".
The best we can get where I live are photonis tubes. I got a 2337 echo with 69 lp, 33.87 snr and 9988 gain (31k in us units) and I have to say that I don't mind the dimmer output. I even turn the gain down most of the time because I don't want it too bright in dark conditions. I've used US gen 3 as well, and I can't say that the photonis is much worse at all. It's just a bit dimmer.
Outstanding side by side comparisons. Thank you for taking the time to do this. My pick on a value/performance basis is the Photonis, followed by Elbit.
Make sure you increase your video quality when watching this! I realized it was streaming at 1080p and the clarity was completely different when I went back and bumped up my video quality 2160.

I used to be of the mindset only buy the most expensive when it came to tubes and realized after MANY purchases that does not necessarily apply to the actual use you plan to use them in. ANYONE who is attempting to question your integrity should note, you clearly stated that OMNI tubes are not great or the best in urban settings. (@4:45) Keep on keeping on.
So, I have duals with both the NVT4, and similar spec's echoes that he showed, and I was seriously supprised when I looked through an L3 tube, I thought they'd blow both mine out of the water. I did like the slightly brighter image, but other than that I honestly didn't see a big enough benefit to justify price personally. Not saying mine are "just as gud!" But was just surprised that the difference besides a brighter image was marginal

Can y'all do a video comparing high spec vs low spec of the same manufacturer? I'd like to see how large of a difference it makes to jump up to a higher spec tube vs lower. My Echos are great but I'd like to see if it would be be worth it to pick up another tube with better FOM.

I am now in the market for one of these and having issues trying to understand the differences on the spec sheets. Now I am a photographer in my only question is when you are using your camera to record did you have it set to complete manual settings also the ISO that you choose to use affects the amount of noise you are seeing from your video camera meaning these tubes may be actually clear than this video is showing because you're getting the noise from the actual tube and no light condition and noise from your camera videoing in no light condition. I would just like to know if you shot this in manual setting for everything and not auto
Hey great question! We shoot our intensifier tube footage with a Sony FX3 and a Sony 24mm f2.8 G lens. The camera settings are locked specifically for tube footage and they do not deviate between tubes. For full transparency the footage is shot in 4K 60p, 1/125, 640iso(the lowest setting), exposure +1.7, the lens f-stop is locked at 2.8 and is set to manual focus. I hope this gives you some clarity on our footage.
PHD of NVD can you please explain the RPO 3.0 & 2.0 combo that you prefer? I would like to know more about the combo and is it an option for customers to order or just something you can do with your own builds since you have the parts on hand? thanks again for your T&E sharing info with us.
Unfortunately the 2.0 eyepiece isn’t available. The 3.0 is a suitable replacement it’s just a personal thing. The 2.0 was a little heavier and the increased eye relief gives us a little better experience with the camera.
Outdoors would have inherently more ambient light. This is the best situation ive been able to come up with that creates the kind of conditions where the supergain has the opportunity to display its advantage.
well unfortunately Im only in the market for the cheapest NV I can get, but pretty soon here when I make the decision to get some legitimate binos it will be from you guys. Hope the jerry 31s last that long!
I have a set of Jerry's, I also have some 4G echoes and the Jerry's are pretty solid in comparison. If you can, I would try to find a set of the autogated tubes, they seem to habe slightly better specs than the non autogated NNVT tubes. I'm a fan though! Would like to get some NVT5 tubes in some tantos in the future
Great vidoe as always. Not hating but I think the feedback of using a 41 SNR tube has something to it. Just looking at your site right now and the average SNR is around 34 for L3 PVS-14s. How much better does this 41 SNR tube compare to a "normal" tube (something around 35 SNR)
Honestly, its very minimal. everything over 34-35 is just extra. you can see a slight difference in the amount of scintillation in the darkest of environments between say 33 and 40 SNR but its not as drastic as you may think. we chose these tubes so that the viewing experience was good while also demonstrating the diferent manufactures capabilities and characteristics.
NNVT means everything and nothing. NNVT has four different tubes and each series has different variations. Can we know if the tube is NNVT 4, 5, 6 or 7? Thank you
@@kevin11288 Sir thank you for your efforts. Following your train of thought in terms of testing with high spec tubes you should do a comparison with an NNVT-7 tube since I feel the NNVT-4 tube you were testing with here is really under powered compared to the others.
I think most of the people who are wanting NVG they are new to the community and are a bit ignorant. Most of us buying these are either prior military or law enforcement. I’ve used crap tubes in the military and also in law enforcement. The tubes I used in the military had blems and the ones from SWAT had less or no blems. If you have an open mind you can learn a lot from these guys or just ask someone who has hundreds if not thousands of house of use in different either combat situations or SWAT situations.
There is very little you will be able to do to convince the far sides from their options. My critique was based on your examples favoring one use over another and you can’t adjust for that. Each user has to understand the differences. I think you sorta touched on that again. People tend to think L3 is the best at everything and you can’t get better … that L3 are the top of the line when that’s actually not true. While there are crappy tubes, each tube will work differently in different lighting environments, in different situational environments and you have to know what you’re gonna be doing with your tube. The most novel thing to do is tell people where a product sucks, not what it’s good at. Make the list of pros and cons for each tube but I think you guys might’ve already done that or maybe that was another seller I’m not sure
Here is a idea. Compare the sensitivity to 940nm illuminators. (I'm thinking about a 5mm led to help with walking in very dark spots) And maybe 980nm lasers. (can people with different tubes point stuff out o each other at some distance with a civilian legal laser in high light and low light)

It does. Elbit tubes have a thin-film inside! Filmed tubes losing about 20% on SNR performance. Photonis tubes are Filmless. No photons get stopped by the Film. Elbit also has higher gain.
@@musicman1eandaNo, if your spec sheet says 30 SNR it's 30 SNR :) All good. They are noisy because of higher Gain. You need better SNR if you want a less noisy image at higher gain levels. But in reality when produced without film, the Elbit would have 30% better SNR. This means you would get less noise because it would be in perfect balance with Gain.

Can I afford any of the ones here? yup, that’s not an issue. Do I want to spend money for the hell of it? Yeah, no. So I’m currently leaning Elbit. My eyes don’t see the difference between them and the L3 being worth the coin. I’m currently running gen 2+ green tubes and have to assume these will be a big upgrade regardless

would you STOP PRESENTING MEASUREMENTS WITH UNLIKE UNITS OF MEASUREMENT, and STOP comparing brands by name, while using non-representative samples. 1500 FoM is not representative of a modern NNVT tube you would purchase as an alternative to an Echo or Echo+. Would a professor accept your mixing of units of measurement in an exam, because don't worry you and he both know and can take it for granted?

Steele has 41 Snr pvs 31. They also had dtnvs -mg set that had 39 Snr / 2860 fom for 9600

would you STOP PRESENTING MEASUREMENTS WITH UNLIKE UNITS OF MEASUREMENT, and STOP comparing brands by name, while using non-representative samples. 1500 FoM is not representative of a modern NNVT tube you would purchase as an alternative to an Echo or Echo+. Would a professor accept your mixing of units of measurement in an exam, because don't worry you and he both know and can take it for granted?
