- There are certain moments in your life as a watch collector that you just don't forget. The first time you strap on a vintage Rolex. The first time you hear a truly exceptional minute repeater. They're milestones that also set the tone for everything that comes after. I can say, without reserve, that the afternoon I got to spend with René Beyer in the Uhrenmuseum Beyer is one of those moments for me.
René's personal collection is one that has its roots in previous generations of his family, as many great collections do, and you can hear it in his voice when he talks about certain watches - they do far more for him than just keep time. Without further ado, this is Talking Watches with industry legend René Beyer. For the full story, go to www.hodinkee.com/articles/tal... - Наука
I love his genuine personality and affection for those pieces.
Yes, it makes the video. I'm not crazy about this host, but I've got to admit he did well here and just got out of the way of the content. Bravo.
Seriously, he's a multimillionaire yet seems so far from a wealthy snot.
Yeah I'd be the same if I had fuckloads
Such a lovely man with such a soft and lovely voice. And honest, “Profit is good but there is also emotion”. Well said herr Beyer, I will try and visit your museum next time in Zürich.
Rene is a diamond geezer!
Best episode since the one with JCB. Such a humble and knowledgeable guest with a warm personality. The romance with watches, the museum and what these two put together stand for, is incredible. Thanks for making this a longer episode.
Such a lovely man with such a soft and lovely voice. And honest, “Profit is good but there is also emotion”. Well said herr Beyer, I will try and visit your museum next time in Zürich.
If you hear word "emotion" from the Swiss trust me, it is everything about profit and zero emotions, they are soulless
@@49fiori now adays, but the true artisans put there soul into a watch
49fiori Wow... you must have had a terrible experience in Switzerland... I have lived here for many years ,, I understood where you are coming from, but really soulless.. that’s harsh.
Live well
@@49fiori I am English speaking & have some Swiss friends & a German friend and I was surprised to find that they do in fact have a sense of humour - you just have to dig deep.
What a kind man
Let me help with the engraving at 05:05
It says : " To lovely Mr. TH. Beyer in memory of our pleasant connection since 1932.
Hans Wilsdorf"
I wonder what this watch is worth 😂
Pieces this special are literally priceless. The moment you put a price on it in my opinion they're somewhat diminished. How much is the Mona Lisa worth? It's literally priceless, the moment you sell it for $700 Million, it's worth that much.
It was a beautiful episode. The affection and love he has for his father is telling. You can see that time pieces to him pull the strings of his heart and when he says "it's not about the money" you believe him. Beautiful episode.
A mind blowing collection lovingly curated by an incredibly expert gentleman.
Probably best watches video I have seen. A real gentlemen talking about his toys. Wonderful
What a amazing gentleman. The way he loves the watches is really outstanding. It’s been a pleasure to watch.
Finally! -An actual watch conaisseur on Talking Watches.
Dr. Memovox. Agreed, most of them are just ticking boxes.
jean claude biver
John Goldberger is the definition of a connoisseur.
BEEPGAMEOVER . Sure. But the wast majority of Talking Watches guests are not.
Baba . Other wear or collect watches for social or pecuniary reasons.
Omg my opinion René Beyer has the best emotional Patek and Rolex collection on this planet! Amazing video Hondinkee LOVE IT, great work!
Wow this is one of the best talking watches of all time !!
One of the best talking watches! Thanks Hodinkee and Stephen.
I love that someone so steeped in haute horology can appreciate something so (comparatively) low-brow as a Mondaine. For me, the mark of a true enthusiast! What an absolute gentleman.
I don’t think low brow would be an appropriate word here, maybe “under appreciated” would be a better term. Mondaine has a rich history and quite a good backstory.
This is one of the best episodes I've seen so far.. Thank you Hodinkee
How down to earth and pleasant was this guy? So many ego's get in the way of so many people who could put a smile on the face of people like me..... Thank you for sharing this
What a great guy, such a genuine collector and I like how proud he is of his fathers collection.
Absolute gentleman.
What a nice man. Seems so humble and so enthusiastic about horology. So knowledgeable and no wonder this family business has been around for over 250 years. They must have so many satisfied customers!! Every piece has a story. The perfect 'talking watches' episode.
Watches are not an investment, it's about emotions and a hobby. He expresses so much emotion over every piece he talks about.
What a great episode. Much respect to mr. Beyer
ADRIQOS got any Chinese copies of these?
This episode is one of my favorites..his charisma, the great stories, the collection...this is my third time watching it! 👍💘🔥
This accent haha... very kind man. Shows his collection, so everyone can enjoy his watches :)
This mans collection is mind shattering and he seems like a super nice guy GREAT EPISODE Keep them coming 😊😊😊
This guy is awesome! He’s genuinely excited to talk about his collection... Great video!
250 years of collecting and passion for watches. This will go down as the best Talking Watches, bar none. Amazing.
What a great guest! More Rene Beyer please.
Just BARE-GREASY-HANDING them!!! This is what watch collecting is all about!!!! Love it
THAT again was worth watching! Watches are more than an investment; it‘s all about emotions!
One the best episodes ! Such a lovely guy. Well done HODINKEE!
Interesting, enjoyable and very emotional story by Mr. Beyer. I have been to his shop ones but not in the museum. Lovely shop with desirable watches presented by friendly and courteous staff.
Sehr sympathisch der Herr Beyer. Der nette Onkel von neben an. Mit Ihm wird es den ganzen Tag bestimmt nicht langweilig. Man könnte sich bestimmt mit Ihm ganzen Tag unterhalten....
Wow! A very humble man indeed...
What a genuine and fascinating character. Keep up the splendid work.
Man Talking Watches is amazing, especially the longer episodes
I respect a watch fan that can appreciate the lower end watch models as well
They should consider changing the name of this show to “Talking Rolex and Patek” 😂
Regardless, this is an amazing collection!
atleast they dont show seikos thats a step into the right direction
Tigerkitty Absolutely nothing wrong with Seikos. Great watches to start out with and good if you don't want to spend too much money. Just because a watch isn't thousands of pounds, doesn't mean there is anything wrong with them.
Zak H amen! I bet most of the guys featured on this show have watches at more affordable price points but decide not to show them. I honestly wish they would! I think it would make it more exciting.
Tigerkitty Because even the high end Grand Seiko range are such poor quality watches in comparison you mean?
Tigerkitty c’mon man, there’s room for everyone. 🙄
What a wonderful story told my our most interesting and knowledgeable people in the world of time pcs Mr.Beyer love it.Thank you.
Brilliant discussion with a wonderful host.
So glad RUclips suggested this video! Beautiful
"It's the importance of having goods that belong to the society"
Couldn't have said it better.
I genuinely loved this so much! great work hodinkee! This man had a real story behind each piece in his collection!
Mr. René has a wonderful upbeat personality and values! Great episode :)
I've been watching Talking Watches: Biver, Goldberger, Paramico, Massena and Jason Singer episodes over and over. Now there's a new addition, Beyer. Great episode Hodinkee.
I'm so appreciative that a man like Renee respects a watch like the mondaine stop2go! I bought it for the same reason but no one seemed to really understand the uniqueness of it but so glad to hear from him how beautiful and unique it is!
I adore the modesty and honesty of Mr. Beyer. Would love to be a client of yours one day. But for the time being I need to visit the museum. It is to me "around the corner" after all.
So passionate, humble, and refined
I always look forward to and enjoy the talking watches episodes. Through this episode you have really moved up a few more notches. Great episode. Looking forward many more.
One of the best TW up to date. Such passion and heritage! Bravo!
Such a genuine and nice guy, you can actually hear that he loves watches. Especially nice is that he knows that much about literally EVERY watch you were interested in. AMAZING!
Always love to watch this series .... I have watched all the episodes atleast 3 times .... I am not kidding... I love talking watches... Please make one video per day
Amazing family, history and museum… An absolute pleasure listening to this interview with such a modest and down to earth gentleman.
What an eloquent and jovial gentleman. An absolute pleasure to watch.
Oh. i love this men talking. And his museum .
GREAT Talking Watch episode. Amazing collection and Mr Beyer is both humble, passionate, knowledgeable and friendly.
I really like this guy's ideologies. He seems very genuine.
The best Talking Watches ever. Such a genuine man.
what a nice gentleman. his passion and charisma made this episode a true joy to watch.
Amazing collection and quite a wonderful Gentleman... Great episode of this series I love so much, thank you.
WOW!!! A True Passion for the watches and business! Incredible that he is a responsible generational owner and so surprising that he is not the original founder!
Just astonishing... what an amazing guest. True passion for his trade. Beyond humble. I truly enjoyed every moment.
One of the best talking watches, such a cool guy.. lovely personality
This was probably my favorite episode so far. What a gentleman!
Thank you for this lovely and informative video! One of the best in this series! What a kind person this Mr. Beyer is. :)
He is so genuine! its awesome!
Classic episode with absolutely stunning pieces
This was one of the most fun interviews. I was so surprised at Mr. Beyer's humility and his willingness to have some fun. Probably my favorite videos!
Wow! This museum is like a heaven or a paradise of waches, and so nice gentleman, he loves all these pieces.
Ich liebe die Interviews mit Rene Beyer, eine unglaubliche Persönlichkeit ❤️👍🏻🔝🔝🔝
Absolutely amazing episode. What a world class collection.
this is by far my favorite episode.. truly passionate
Great interview. Very nice and modest man.
Love the Everest Hilary/Norgay watch. What history!
Now THIS is what makes TW so special. The guest is so emotionally connected to his collection that it is infectious. He is a joy to listen to and makes me proud to share a passion with him.
Such a treat watching these intimate conversations with people whose passion for these exquisite timepieces transcends price or collector value.
what a fantastic episode - I'll be watching this for years to come! next time i'm in Zurich I'll definitely check the place out...
Such a great episode..this man truly cares about his watches
I would love to sit down with Rene and chat about watches. So much passion, knowledge, wisdom and comes across as a very nice man.
Quality quality episode. Such a charming character too, Mr Beyer
What a humble and passionate gentleman Rene is. Impressive. Need to visit the museum...
Love his watch collecting vision, great human being !
This is such an amazing video. I will come back to watch it again
What a wonderful video - Mr Beyer's genuine love for horology shines through
This is the sort of episode one learns and discovers something new with each viewing..Fantastic
So good to have an episode that isn't just the same old Rolex models. Thank you Hodinkee
!
This episode will have to go down as one in my top 5
Thanks
what a kind man with a real passion for watches Thank you for this very very interesting episode!
Absolutely mesmerizing!
Fantastic! Loved this episode.
This interview was great. He and the family obviously have a crazy collection, and connections with all the high end companies, but he's so personable and passionate about them all.
Superb episode. I love the stories tied to these watches well done
I feel like buying a watch from him now. Humbleness
Amazing collection. I understand people gets irritated of how talking watches have a lot of patek, and Rolex. This talking watches is super unique! And exquisite. I still love John goldenberger talking watches his 570 tri one dial patek Caltrava and his chronograph Rolex rappatante. I love Rene Beyer not only he has a sincere passion for horolgy, he also has the wisdom and understanding to appreciate it's 600 years of watching making.
Really enjoyeable episode. Great guest and spectacular time pieces.
What a beautiful interview with such a genuine and passionate gentle man.
I'm sure my wife would like a trip to Zurich.
Most excellent interview, I really enjoy an interview with a Sage and historic figure like Mr Bayer. I would love to see a tour of his museum.
Thank you for this fantastic interview. I love the watches shown here including his father’s German Day-Date and the early Rolex Oyster on leather. And of course the Pateks. Very a beautiful Patek chrono.
It is funny that my father has also given me a German Day-Date as a present for my 30th. It is the classic YG 118238 with champagne stick luminova dial and engraved rehaut. It must be a German tradition!
Rolex and Patek will always be very dear to my heart. I still do not have a single Patek in my collection. My father has some beautiful high end watches from Breguet, ALS and JLC but he never bought a Patek for some reason. Not an AP for that matter.
I am glad that I can share this love of watches with my father and I hope that when I have a son, I will also be able to share this passion with him and give him the same Day-Date my father has given me or perhaps my BLNR, my daily watch, as a starter watch, if steel remains popular 20-30 years from now.
I used to sell watches when i was a kid, mostly fossil brand sice they were inexpensive, would love to get in the market but i lack funds, great post man.
What a beautiful and emotive clip. It would be an amazing experience to visit this museum. God willing, one day.
Wonderful program - so well done. Thank you Mr. Beyer and Mr. Pulvirent for sharing what seems to have started as a passion between friends into a rich and interesting part of horological history. This may only have been possible due to the wonderful continuity/legacy of the Beyer family however would be fantastic to try and piece together for other brand's as well. Thank you again for a excellent episode.
Cool!!!!! This is a fantastic episode, thanks HODINKEE 😎👍🏼
Respect....amazing collection and I salute his modesty....
One of the best interviews to date.
