The world is a better place with DanTyminski in it, the Bluegrass world would be a sorry sight without him. Great brief interview, wonderful to hear a few short stories from the man.
I hope AKUS makes at least one more album in the future. They've left all of their fans hanging, wondering what's become of the band, for over a decade now.
I have been in love with Alison Krauss and Union station since I heard the song baby, now that I found you. Ever since then, I have enjoyed their music on a daily basis. I heard of them only 2 years ago, and it would be such a shame if I never got to see and meet them live.
@@bluebillygrit1 I sure hope so. My favorite era of the band was with Adam and Alison Brown, but I know that that will never happen again. Unfortunately, I have heard some shows from a few years ago, and Allison's voice isn't the same, but her music has meant so much to me, I would have to take the opportunity to see them live.
@@superblindeye1 Yeah. It's highly unlikely that lineup will ever happen again. But I could see Steffey returning in Jerry's place if he didn't return to AKUS. I'm one of the crazies that prefer Alison's fiddle playing over her voice, so I'm partial to her earlier material, even though I think all of her albums are spectacular. At this point, I'm indifferent to whatever lineup of AKUS we get, I just want to see them live again.
@@bluebillygrit1 I actually prefer the earlier days of Allison as well. I didn't much care for the paper airplane album. But I do have the too late to cry CD, I've got that old feeling, every time you say goodbye, live, and lonely runs both ways. Not to mention, the now that I found you collection. She is my favorite of all time. Have you ever got to meet her? It's nice to meet other fans of the band, as where I am now, I haven't been able to find any. if you are interested, I've done a few of their covers on my RUclips channel.
I met Dan at a song writing workshop at the Anchorage Folk Music Festival. The room was so full that people were sitting on the tables. He shared how Southern Gothic was written and played it for us. At the end he asked if there were any questions. After the great time we had in that room the only question I could come up with was “what kind of capo is that?”. Duh…🤯 Dan is the real deal.
Thanks so much. Please help others like Douglas and Cleveland tell their stories or do auto bios for posterity. We have a golden age of musical richness and people like you and AK et al need to save the story.
I’m 66 I guess classic rock is my thing funk fusion but your song is still one of my favorite songs since I seen that movie some days I can’t stop singing it even though I seem like shit… good for you I believe good things happen to good people

Big Dan is the man! Hands down my favorite picker!

I totally get his statement about the Bluegrass community. Such a great tribe here in Colorado. Truly my best friends.
Love that old D28. I bet it has some amazing stories to tell.
Love Dan's style his music has a lot of soul. 👍

I just love this story soooo much. We love ya Dan... keep 'em comin.
My Bluegrass story is pretty good too... Go Dan!! Don't stop!!
Cool Guy and LOVE Dan's voice.
The truest of bluegrass musicians.
Dan is such a humble guy…and you’d never know he is from Vermont…I think we’ve adopted him at this point.
Sure wish they would make sequels to the movie
I got dragged around to bars as a child also in the 60's and 70's. Lots of pool and shuffleboard.
Man “Heathens like me” Jelly Roll would be great to add a few lines, this should be one of those TikTok videos where a bunch of people join in
cool!
dan i heard from some friends that you lived in moncton new brunswick in your younger days.i wonder if this is true?
That 26 minutes just went by way too fast. 🏆
❤
Dan, time to bring back AK and US. We have waited long enough.
👍👍
Is that John wheat on banjo!?!?

Dan: Was it really worth it to "trash" your parents?
