Me, scrolling through the comments and realizing many people didn't not watch the whole video... Most of the questions are covered. You may disagree with Pst. Mike's position, which is ok. But he covers nearly every aspect of questions in comments.
For those who exited a LEGALISTIC church with veiling and uncut hair doctrine like me, I devour materials like these. I appreciate someone who deep dive such topics, and do the heavy lifting of researching. Watching now...
The year is 2049. Mike Winger's 2M subscribers have been waiting anxiously for him to release his "Once saved always saved" video, and it finally comes out. It is 48 hours long and was filmed over the lifespans of 3 different cats.
“Until we start celebrating gender differences like the world celebrates gender transitions, we are not doing justice to what God has given us in order of man and woman.” That’s on point Mike. Thank you.
no need to celebrate anything about ourselves. I would be God putting our natures to us . Gender was given by God at birth, not given to man who would chose for himself... a big difference. We need not celebrate perversion of God's intentions and distort who God made us to be. God don't make mistakes ! He said "male and female', woman or man, not transitions !
Wow, Mike. You more than doubled down on your record from that invaluable evaluation on divorce and remarriage. Now am actually curiously excited, first: to find out what you found out... and second: what topic out there may some day cause you to go yet another dozen extra miles.
Videos like this remind me why Mike is one of my favorite teachers. He takes the time needed to go in-depth into a given topic and look at it from multiple angles, which I strongly appreciate as I tend to be a questioning and analytical kind of person. I also understand the amount of study/work Mike puts into his videos. God has used him to bless so many including myself. His ministry has played a significant role in my being able to finally set aside my doubts and surrender to my Lord and Savior, the Christ Jesus.
This is not grab and go :) This is study for those who want to come to grips with the many diverse views...a discussion. PTL we are not a cult and can ask questions whether we agree or disagree with the answers we ultimately answer to the Lord. I'm going to listen to this bit by bit. Pastor is trying to be thorough and fair handed. 10 out of 10 to him for taking on the topic...and I haven't even listened to most of it yet .lol
His ministry? NOoo ALL belongs TO God This life is about getting right with the Creator and ‘good’ stewardship Only God is good - man must learn to be good- die to self there is NO inheritance without one’s own crucifixion
Hehe. I’ve been watching your videos on x2 speed since day one. Thank you for your thoughtful, gracious and thorough teaching and ministry. It’s very similar to the way I think, so it’s always very helpful for me and my ministry. May God continue to bless and guide you and your ministry.
I think it is sinful to watch important videos at fast speeds. You train your brain to just digest information instead of being exposed to the subtleties of non verbal communication, tone, vocalics, pace, pauses, emphasis, etc. God designed us to learn and listen at real time speed. Speeding up Mike reduces his expression of humanity and trains us to be more robotic by just taking in large quantities of information. This is one more way we abuse technology to slowly make us more out of touch with reality. I used to listen to lots of podcasts at 2x speed and it warped my perspective so much that I found people talking in real life were so boring and I struggled to listen. I had to retrain my brain by listening at normal speeds so I could function in the real world. God, please help us use RUclips as you have designed us to - for watching music videos with bear 🐻 costumes. Amen 🙏
My late husband and I made it a practice to read through the bible from Genesis to Revelation every year. For fifteen years we went back and forth on the subject of head coverings. I Corinthians 11:1-16 would come up every year. Hmmmmm ...Should I be covering my head? My husband, who loved to study God's word, would ask different pastors or christian friends about the subject and get different answers. He finally dug in and studied the passage thoroughly for himself and realized that, yes, I should be wearing a head covering. I was convinced myself and started wearing a head covering all of the time, even though I was the only woman in our church wearing one. I am in a church now where I'm the only one wearing one. Thank you for this very thorough teaching on the subject. I hope more women will just simply obey this command.
Being a female veteran, I absolutely understand the headship. It is called rank. Exactly synonymous to being enlisted vs being an officer. My job during my enlistment was primarily a support position, so I understand it from that aspect as well. I do cover my head while praying (I don't know that I have ever uttered a prophecy in my lifetime, and I have certainly never claimed to have), because I view it as simply "the Word says it, I will do it", very like the military says that you will wear a cover (hat) outdoors and remove that cover when indoors. Do I care why? Nope. Regs say it, I do it. (Civilans probably won't get this.) I do not force this belief on others, it is MY conviction, despite it very much not being the culture of my church body. I feel "fish out of water", not superior, but my motivation to do it is obedience (following regulation) to my ultimate Commander. If I am wearing more formal clothing, I wear a wide scarf or shawl, and use that when we pray. If I wear casual clothing, I wear a tied headscarf (babushka), so my head is covered, period. I also don't cut the length of my hair, but that is out of convenience, to be honest, because it is cheaper, easier, and far cooler in hot weather to wear it in a braid or pin it up. I figure it is one of the benefits of my rank, so why not go with it? The other part of this, the patriarchal tendencies of too many men in the church (and often my husband at home), I view as non-regulation (unBiblical) abuse of rank, like when a butterbar (newly minted first lieutenant) rubs his rank in an enlisted's face. It is insulting and rude and abuses the superior's rank/position and privelege. But my Commander sees it, and furthermore, He sees the heart and mind of this man that I cannot. It is my job to do my job, and my Commander will call both me and the males in my life to account ultimately. It is incumbent upon me to please my Commander and do the job that He has given me in the position that He has given me. I have zero desire to be in a position my rank denies me, because while rank does have its priveleges, it also demands a higher level of accountability and responsibility. The men who don't understand this are in for a nasty surprise (as are those in positions of governmental authority that abuse their power). Does it bother me when men abuse their rank? Sure, I am human, but much like the Roman officer who asked Yeshua to heal his servant, I believe that God will take care of it because His Word says He will. It is a fact. As far as the cultural goes, I agree that feminism is the driving force against wearing headcoverings/hats that WAS historically part of our culture. I am of an age where I can remember when women wore hats or shawls to church. So I must admit I also like covering my head while praying as a symbol of a figurative thumb in feminism's collective eye. (And yes, I do cover my head while praying at home most of the time, but sometimes not at night when I wake up and pray, because I am not that coherent, so I am not legalistic about it either.) And the whole idiocy of headcoverings or hair being synonymous with genitals and being unclothed.... I have no words. Such rank ludicrosity, I had never heard of such filth prior to watching this video. Our culture is decidedly becoming ever more unGodly, so I will wear my headcovering, particularly in church. I don't think those who go with the flow of our horrible perverse culture should castigate me for my desire to simply do what God's Word says to do. Y'all do you, I will follow my convictions, thank you.
Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. 2Tim2:3-4 Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good. 1 p 4:19 ❤
Thank you for your service. You seem to be certain about your opinion, so just one thing. What if there was a married couple in ancient Israel, and the woman was over the (male) commander of the army of Israel? And what if it was God's will? Yes she was, and Yes it was.
This is an epic comment sister and the military rank analogies are a brilliant way of communicating your reasoning. The Lord is, I have no doubt, pleased with the way you approach this well done!
Religion is A Real Bind! God created us with head coverings called hair The new covenant says don’t braid it with gold ~ don’t add to God’s amazing creations Don’t Puff yourself up above others God within Indwelling our thoughts ~ head covering Our hearts and bodies ~ clothing Our lives our walk ~ shod with The Gospel
@@P.H.888 I agree with you "God created us with head coverings called hair" I disagree with one of your detractors that claimed that your are twisting things but there is NO TWISTING of scripture here. 1 Cor 11:15 states clearly that long hair is the covering. Some people have been so brainwashed that they think that the Bible doesn't literally say that. I pray for your detractors.
My mind is blown that someone can make a video over 6 hours long about Headcovering! This is great! I am almost 4 hours in on watching the video. Really good content, btw.
In 48 years, this is the first clear study of the subject of hair covering, where all the questions and confusions I had are finally cleared up. Thank you so much!
If we follow those who subscribe to the doctrine of women wearing veils then it can be argued that the most often cited verse in this teaching is 1st Corinth. 11:5, which states: “But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.” According to those who believe women ought to wear veils this verse implies that a woman’s uncovered head is someone who does not wear a veil, is wrong for failing to wear it and assumes that such a person already has long hair. Therefore, the conclusion is that it must be referring to an “additional” covering. Another conclusion is that if a woman ought to be covered only when praying and prophesying then it would seem as though it is something that can be taken on or off like a veil. A typical question from those who are against hair being “the covering” is usually something like this: “If a woman ONLY needs to cover during prophecy or prayer, then how can a woman take off her hair and then put it back on?” The logical response to this is: Where did you read the word: "Only?" Such a person assumes the Bible refers to an “exclusive condition” instead of viewing it as simply two examples being given. IF YOU TRULY BELIEVE IN THIS “EXCLUSIVITY INTERPRETATION” then an UNVEILED woman should be fine if they speak in tongues, interpret tongues, heal the sick, cast out devils, etc., right? As long as the woman is NOT praying or prophesying, then she need not wear a veil, right? If your answer is NO, then you admit that there are likely more instances where it would not look right and do not truly believe that ONLY under praying or prophesying does a woman need to be covered; thereby making the argument that the covering is removable based on two conditions, moot. So what can we say about this? Just that Paul is giving us a couple of examples of how doing something holy does not look right if she is uncovered, in other words not covered in hair. The question is: Is he really referring to the lack of a veil or the lack of hair meaning not having long hair? Also, please keep in mind that the word “veil” is not actually mentioned here, neither anything that IMPLICITLY states that the covering is something can be placed on or taken off. Here’s something to consider: imagine a woman with long flowing hair praying and prophesying without a veil. Would the lack of a veil really equate to someone as if they were shaven? Why would anyone come to this conclusion? It would seem a bit odd that a woman with long hair who is not wearing a veil should somehow be equated to being shaved. This is most certainly an odd thought pattern if we accept the veil interpretation. But it does fit the narrative of those who understand the word “uncovered” to mean “not covered in long hair” or simply put, “short hair.” Looking at a woman with short hair one can easily say that she might as well be shaved. So be honest, doesn’t it make more sense that when they refer to an uncovered woman they are referring to a woman with short hair? Wouldn’t that be MORE closely relatable to being shaven than to someone who has long hair but not wearing a veil being equated to someone shaved? To put it in another way it is not a big leap to make the correlation between short hair to being shaven, unlike being asked to make a GIGANTIC LEAP OF LOGIC that an unveiled woman (even with long flowing hair) is somehow equal to being shaved. Think about it. * Is the Covering Long Hair or a Veil? ….. (II) If we examine all the verses from verse 4 to 15 without bias we should at least conclude that the passages have something to do with the physical heads of both men and women. The question we should ask is: When they refer to “covered,” “cover,” “uncovered” and “covering” are they referring to hair that covers the head or some kind of veil? Some will even say both, but if we carefully examine verse 15 it would seem that we would be getting a clearer picture of what was being referred to in the earlier verses when it mentions the words, “covered,” “cover” and “uncovered." “But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her FOR a covering." If the covering is long hair then the words “covered” or “cover” which are synonymous to “covering,” should be understood as long hair as well. Then it makes sense when it says that it is shameful or dishonorable for a man to pray or prophesy with his head “covered” because they are referring to long hair. Now logically speaking wouldn’t being “uncovered” or “not covered” then mean short hair? Therefore, if to be covered refers to “long hair” then the opposite should be true, in that to be “uncovered” should be understood as having “short” hair. This is not complicated at all to understand it is basic logic. * You Should Naturally Know Right From Wrong by Just Looking…. (III) If these verses do not move you yet then here’s one that should definitely blow your mind. Paul asks you to make a judgment call in verse 13 as if one should naturally see a problem because he asks you to: "Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?" If “covering” really meant a veil then one would have to explain why anyone would possibly come up with a judgment that a woman praying or prophesying WITHOUT A FABRIC VEIL ON THEIR HEAD WOULD LOGICALLY OR NATURALLY LOOK WRONG? Someone needs to explain this logically. Be honest, does looking at someone doing this naturally create a thought that a veil is missing? I have never seen or heard anyone say: "What a shame she is not wearing a veil on her head” after looking at a woman with long hair while praying or prophesying, that would be ludicrous. There is no NATURAL or NORMAL reasoning to make such a judgment. But if the word “uncovered” were to mean "short hair." then it would make logical sense. Because if I see a woman who has a manly haircut doing these holy things like we read in verse 5, then I can naturally judge that something doesn’t look right. Also, the very next verse continues this line of thinking that things should be obvious to understand by mere observation in nature. "Doth not even NATURE itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him." 1st Corinthians 11:14 Note that verses 13 and 14 are two consecutive questions both of which asks you to NATURALLY ASSUME that there something wrong by SEEING a woman’s head to be uncovered (meaning having short hair) and a man having long hair (meaning being covered). I would like to also add that it is NOT jumping from a “veil” in 13 and then suddenly to “hair” in 14 like some would like to suggest, because you will note that verse 15 refers back again to the woman which FLAT OUT STATES the “covering” to mean “long hair.” Therefore there is NO EXCUSE to not understand the previous verses. By this simple understanding we can then understand the part where it states that it is shameful or dishonoring for a man to pray or prophesy with his head covered, meaning covered in long hair, like in verses 4:
“Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.” This “dishonoring” of the head fits perfectly with verse 14 where it mentions that it is “shameful“ for a man to have long hair, therefore the topic is the same throughout the verses in that the head covered in this verse refers to “long hair. ” I should also add that these verses in NO WAY imply that the covering on the man can be placed on or taken off, like some like to argue. It’s SIMPLY SAYING that it is a dishonor if a man prays or prophesies in LONG HAIR. The same should be understood in verse 7: “For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.” Again, they are NOT implying something that can be put on or taken off but that the man should not cover his head (with long hair) and the reason because he is the image and glory of God. This same idea should be included in the verses that refer to women like in verse 6: “For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.” This verse is often misinterpreted like verse 5 when it’s simply mentioning in the same tone as the previous verse that if a woman has short hair then let her head be shaved BUT if it is a shame to be shaven let her be covered in long hair. It’s really not complicated once you understand what it means to be covered or uncovered. Everything else starts to make sense when you read the other verses knowing that they are referring to hair. I can only imagine how lost one must be when they are stuck on one or two verses that to them seems questionable but not take into consideration all the other verses that point to the “covering” as long hair and “uncovered” to mean short hair. Therefore, given all this logic and proof, how can one conclude that they are referring to a hat, bonnet or veil? Again, how can one have logical judgments or conclusions that by merely looking at a long-haired woman performing such holy acts without a veil that one would automatically assume that there is something off? It makes no logical sense. So before anyone gets riled up why not first try to EXPLAIN 1st Corinthians 11:13 because I suspect most people will simply ignore it. In short, therefore, the whole veil doctrine is wrong, it cannot be substantiated and should be rejected.
@@Repent.Believe.obeyJesus FA is very likely correct in him/her saying the covering is the women's hair. I've come at this from a different angle, but got the same conclusion as FA did: "In short, therefore, the whole veil doctrine is wrong, it cannot be substantiated and should be rejected." There are a number of reasons I've posted. But to keep this short, the main one is that God wanted His daughters uncovered during the many centuries of the time of the Law. If God wanted such a burden upon women, He would have started it then. Also the priests were required to were a turban as part of their garments, as it says repeatedly in scripture. (No, I haven't watched the video, but I've read >90% of the comments.)
FA thank you so much for sharing your comment I am a girl and this made so much sense to me as I haven’t watched the full video just yet. Thank you I was very worried
If any other RUclipsr puts out a 7 hour video I'd be like "Who on earth would watch that? Almost 7 hours is ridiculous!" Pastor Mike puts out a 7 hour video and I couldn't click faster to watch it 😂 I don't know what it is about your videos but no matter how long they are it never stops me from watching them! I love listening them. Love from Australia! 🇦🇺
Lol I saw the length of this video before my husband did. And then later that day I heard him in his office do some kind of crazy cheer of excitement, and I was like what the heck is going on? Then he came in with a huge smile on his face and said "babe, guess how long Mike's new video on headcoverings is!" 😂 he did follow that up by admitting "I'm way more excited about this than I should be." Lol
What's embarrassing is that this topic requires a 6.75 hour diagnosis, yet modern Christianity teaches that "the Law is done away with," and "a burden," despite the clear teaching of the Messiah: “For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one yod or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Law [Torah] till ALL be done." (Matt 5:18)
Gosh the woman who says let me ask my husband first and other women saying, “oh you’re one of those. You poor thing.” That’s so sooooo real. That absolutely hit home with me!
I agree. It’s actually really difficult on a good husband as well because he is then viewed as somehow sadistic. The Bible translations are inaccurate in some ways because submissive just shows a different position and what the personality of that position looks like. Men and women have their roles and it just happens this is how God wants them but it has nothing to do w submission as our society has defined it. It means the role we have under God and under our husbands. A liberating position btw! I like to dig it in these days and say I have to ask my husband. It’s nice not to have to make those kind of choices w out conferring or discussing choices so that both of our voices are heard and he can make choices based on something I probably don’t care about or have all the information on.
Plan: 1 hr per day for 7 days. 😊👌🏾 I grew up with cloth headcovering for women in church and especially during monthly communion. For a few years now, I felt led back to covering during special times of prayer and fasting. My late husband respected my conviction and decision. Also, I'm a young(er) widow, so now my submission is to God alone.
God is leading His children to Him, gently to observe many ways that He's directed us through scripture. Thanks for sharing how He's spoken to you about this 💞
My wife felt like she should wear a head cover simply because that’s what the Bible said. The impact of the Holy Spirit in my life to straighten some things out was very noticeable. In short, our marriage improved significantly, and she still wears head coverings.
I wish. My husband is embarrassed by my wearing a cover, and our pastor leaves me scrambling to cover with his blitzkreig "lets' pray", jumping into rapid prayer that makes me scramble for my shawl.
@@marahdolores8930 if you wear an infinity scarf around your neck to church (there are gauze type ones for summer) you can just pull it up during service instead of scramble
@@AMcDub0708 so it’s basically meaningless, right? If you want to wear a head covering if married, go for it. But don’t think I will for my husband would laugh at me, and it feels so totally EXTERNAL only.
if Mike is to ever decide to do a bible commentary i would buy it. The level of discipline it takes to give sound unbiased information/findings is practically amazing.
Being it was 7hrs to watch over one half of a chapter .... I think it will be a while before we could that and would be insane size😂 He does a verse by verse study though he did in his church when pastoring over one of the 4 books on Jesus's life that i think is all on this youtube channel. Id recommend checking them out if you haven't It was the book of Mark series
I didn't really feel any conviction to do so but I started wearing a head covering to church about a year ago. After a friendly debate with an egalitarian sister and a short study on this passage I concluded it was the right thing to do and have done so out of pure obedience. There is also an element of beauty in honoring God that is missing from a lot of modern Protestant worship. God is a beautiful Creator and honoring Him by dressing in a beautiful way and honoring how He made us glorifies Him!
This entire matter gets under my skin, so I don't want to type anything I might regret. The way we are inside is what really matters to God. Your adornment must not be merely the external-braiding the hair, wearing gold jewelry, or putting on apparel; but it should be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. Do not let your adorning be the outward adorning of braiding the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine clothing. But let it be the hidden nature of the heart, that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. Do not let your adorning be external-the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear- but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. -excerpt 1 Peter 3 (various versions)
@@josephbrandenburg4373 maybe not in the US but when I think of women covering their heads in church its precisely the Catholics I think of. Look up the "mantilla."
I'm from a small twin island called Trinidad and Tobago, this series has really blessed me and given me a clearer perspective on the whole topic of women in ministry. Your work has truly been a blessing to me Paster Mike. I pray GOD continue to bless and keep you and your loved ones.
Thank you Mike!! I've been excited for this study, for so long!! My 15 yo daughter brought this passage to me and said "I think we're supposed to be wearing a head covering". I started studying, listened and read nearly all the commentary for and against and concluded that this passage is transcultural. We began wearing them in the assembly several months ago. We are the only ones at our church wearing them. It's uncomfortable, but I'd rather be obedient to an apostolic teaching and be "weird" than disobedient to an apostolic teaching. I know it's not a salvation issue, but we want to do all we can to be pleasing to the Lord. I think there's a great lack of respect for the headship order and that if the church were to start being obedient to the headship order it would make a colossal difference in how the church acts and is viewed by the world.
I can only hope and pray that when my 4 year old daughter is 15 she is as bright and God fearing as your daughter sounds! What an absolute blessing it must be to have a daughter rooted in Gods word! God bless ❤️
@@Mamato3❣️ Her name is Emily and she truly is a blessing!! I am in awe at how wonderful she is! Truly! Thank you for the kind comment!!! I pray your daughter grows into the most God-loving teen ever!! Much love to you and yours!!
I came to this conclusion last year. I will be requiring my future wife and future daughters to wear a head covering. It’s amazing to me the sheer amount of hypocrisy. Men are universally expected to uncover their heads to come to church. It’s still cultural now. It’s just that women do not have to do not have to do it. I think it’s a poisonous double standard, and a flaunting of God’s word. I think not covering the head fails both the cultural test and the universal standard test. No I don’t think it has to be with a veil specifically. As long as the hat doesn’t promote a brand or product directly, then it’s fine.
What a blessing that your daughter is so pressed by the LORD’s Word. I came to the same conclusion several years ago, and it’s been a blessing in that it’s illustrated and aided my understanding of headship, something I wasn’t necessarily expecting. Blessings to you!
I studied this issue for over a year. I also wrote to R.C. Sproul regarding this and was blessed to receive a personal reply similar to what you said. I spoke with my husband who also supported me wearing the covering. I have worn one for several years now even though I am the only one in my church body. I don't think this is dependent on culture just as baptism isn't. I also don't believe this is essential for salvation nor judge others who choose not to cover. 🙂
Do you cover only while worshipping or when you go out in public places either, such as supermarkets? This symbol was for married women. My great great grandmother was wearing headcovering, it was a shame to show hair to another man. So she was headcovered full time. My great great grandmother was not a believer. So I can understand that it's tradition not only for praying but for full time wearing. And to wear fully means to cover all of hair. I think it's a big challenge today for Christian women and even those women who are for headcovering, they can't stand to wear it fully. It's a big problem that doesn't work. Something is wrong here...
@@valerias8120 I only cover for corporate worship as I am convinced that this is what Paul was referencing. Extending it to outside the church, I believe, extends it to a cultural practice. But, again, I do not judge those who cover full time either. I am old enough to remember women having hats and scarves on their heads and men NOT having hats on during corporate services and did see the culture shift that railed against this. On a side note, I am a big fan of hats so usually have my head covered anyway, lol.
I listened to the 1st 9 sessions in order and I'm loving it! Thanks Pastor Mike! Raised in a strict Patriarchal church, but knew it was controlling, but knew Egalitarianism wasn't right either.. Love getting all the details of the Truth! Feel so much peace from this and how I want my role to be as a wife. Thank you!!
It is so refreshing to hear someone teach using the Bible to interpret the Bible, rather than culture or personal opinions! Thank you so much for this teaching. I listened to all of it, except for the “annoying” section, lol, as I felt it wasn’t needed in my case. ❤
I am in my 50s. It’ll a few months ago I had not read Corinthians and made an effort to study the teaching of Paul. I have always been red letter. Obviously, this topic is one of his most intriguing topics along with Philemon and circumcising. All depictions of Mary had her head covered, why would no western woman dare to wear a head covering in church? Answer, churches r in it for the money first, secondarily for god. In fairness, if a pastor thinks he cannot keep the doors open he may think his ability to prophetize is damaged, I understand. I don’t get how pastor Mike can devote 7 hours to the subject, then conclude that head covering are not applicable to modern Christianity I conclude married women should wear head covering shawl in place of worship.
Mike’s frustration in segment 13 was worth sitting through this entire video. Twice I had tears rolling down my face from laughing so hard. This man’s patience is legendary status. Amazing job throughout. Thorough, balanced, wise, taught me things I never knew, gave me things to think about… I really enjoyed this teaching. Thank you for taking so much time and effort.
Wow, I know you said it would be a lengthy video, but didn’t expect it to be 6hrs. Thank you for all the effort you put into this! Really excited to watch!
Thank you!! And please don´t apologize for the lenght, we are here for quality teaching, and God is clearly using you in that regard. Your ministry is an inspiration, keep it going!
I started covering a year ago, and it is just different! It reminds me daily, that I have to submit to my husband, and I think it takes away from the narcissistic tendecies too. Thank you for the study 🙌🏻
i think that is the reason why i want to start using one, to remind me about this because now days culture is trying to get read of gender differences.
Well, Mike, I listened to the whole thing in virtually one sitting with a break for a dog walk. I want to thank you for the hundreds / thousands of hours of prep and study that went into this. I so appreciate your heart to honour God and Scripture. So, an amazing amount of information covered, and a truly Godly approach. Thank you. You’re a blessing to me and the church at large.
I've been watching this whole video throughout doing daily chores, driving, or even on walks. Had to rewind and recap a few times, but truly enjoyed EVERYTHING about this video. Points of view, questioning pov, and things I didn't think of before. Thank you Mike Winger. Truly appreciated ❤
How incredible is it that the Lord has bestowed on us the gift of Mike Winger and his ceaseless hard work🙏 God bless you, Mike and thank you dear Lord🙌
I wholly agree with you. He came into my life at the exact right time and I believe that God will use him to provide vital information to those who are truly seeking Jesus. God puts a thirst in our hearts for the word. I am not as kind as he is about those who preach falsely. We need good Godly men like Mike who are unafraid to state the truth..
I literally yelled across the room excitedly that this video is up to my husband. Haha, very very happy to listen to all 7 hours! Thank you so much for your hard work!!
I went to 1.5× speed but I felt I wasn't getting enough out of it personally so I went down to 1.25× speed (and I usually watch "fast pace scripted videos" at 1.25-1.75× speed, sometimes even 2× but usually not)
In my Dutch translation the phrase "because of the angels" is linked to the glory/honor the woman brings to her husband through the act of covering her head and thus translated as: "just as the angels honor Gods glory". So the whole verse reads (I'm trying to translate the Dutch as accurately as I can, sorry if there are modern words there that wouldnt make sense or have older synonyms that would fit the English Bible better😅) : "Therefore the woman should cover her head (during church gatherings). So that she would show she honors the glory of her husband. Just as the angels honor Gods glory." When I see the English verse in the video I do wonder where they got their interpretation and information from, since that one is so short and confusing compared to this😅 but still thought I'd share this, since it was interesting to me that somehow this Dutch translation seems to add yet another interpretation that wasnt mentioned in the video.

Truly thankful for you dedication on every topic you research. There is literally nobody else on RUclips who tries to be as thorough, honest and thoughtful with everything you study.
I did a lot of my own research a few years ago when it came to wearing a head covering. I looked at multiple viewpoints, the history of the covering, prayed, fasted, and ask for signs from the Lord. I was eventually led to start covering my head whenever I prayed or whenever I was gathered among the church. A series by Finny Kuruvilla opened my eyes to the importance of the head covering and why it's applicable today. Eventually I started wearing it more and more and wear it almost full time now, because its pretty hard to find it and dig it out when I'm about to pray or talk about God with someone. The head covering did so much for my walk with the Lord too. Because I was wearing the covering for reasons of honor and dishonor, I started to view everything I did in light of what was MOST honoring to God, not of what was just sin and not sin. I also started dressing more modestly, because I felt like a hypocrite sitting with my head covered while my cleavage, figure, legs, etc. were on full display. If I was willing to do something that scripture said and be embarrassed and ridiculed for it, then I would be willing to do the same in other areas of my life (the first time I ever wore it to a prayer meeting I was accused by the leader of being prideful, I was ridiculed, and I was forced to say that it was only a personal conviction or that he and I would have issues. Each time I told him that it wasn't a personal conviction and that I thought it was applicable for all women, but that I wasn't going to force it on anyone, he would call me a liar and get angrier and angrier, until I finally gave into the pressure/embarrassment and said it was personal conviction, which I'm still ashamed about. I had already gone into the meeting trembling about what would happen and ended up blushing so hard it reached my ears and I was on the brink of tears, because this was done in front of a room of people by someone I deeply respected and looked up to.) I'm so so appreciative of this video and the time and care you put into this Pastor Mike. Most people when they ask me about the covering (because I never bring it up first) brush it off/don't even bother to look into it or say "that's good for you" or get mad and start arguing with me, which always baffles me because they asked me first haha. Hopefully I can give this as a resource for people who ask and they'll actually listen to it and give the issue some thought, instead of reading one modern day article about how it's just cultural and then calling that research and dropping the subject forever.
"....I started to view everything in light of what was MOST honouring to God, not just what was sin and not sin." Thank you - that's given me an awful lot to think about.
@@gingemeow It is best to do what is required. The women of the Old Covenant didn't cover, because God wanted them uncovered. One of the few times it is mentioned is regarding Tamar, pretending to be a temple prostitute. As poster named FA did a long post on this subject, arguing that the hair is the covering. I'm pretty sure he/she is correct. Let me know, I'll paste it here. 10 minute read
Finni Kuruvilla . Yes I watched his video. This is one of my first videos I watched when I started to search on head covering. I love it as well. He really brings a full insight through scripture why a woman believer should wear a head covering.
* Where the problem usually begins… (I) If we follow those who subscribe to the doctrine of women wearing veils then it can be argued that the most often cited verse in this teaching is 1st Corinth.

Mike: I'm sorry this is so long Me: Suddenly realizing this is perfect timing, since I've watched almost 20 hours of Skyrim retrospective and 12 hours of election night archives in the past two weeks, and I'm long overdue for some bible study.
I’m only 48:57 in and I just had to jump in the comments and say THANK YOU for including your notes!!!! I was a little overwhelmed at the thought of watching this whole thing and getting much out of it because my memory isn’t that sharp (perpetual mom-brain). But the fact you include the outline of your research and notes brings me so much peace because I feel like I can truly just watch the video through without pausing to jot down notes and it taking twice as long (or more) to get through the content! Mike, i thank God for you and the example you set and the work you do. Your impact on my faith and understanding has been monumental and that’s an understatement.
A few years ago, I was called to cover my hair BEFORE I even knew it was in the Bible. I did for a little bit but I stopped and wasn't really ready to grow my relationship with the Lord. Now I have found the Lord and He called me to headcover and observe on the Sabbath. Just had my first Sabbath and He has blessed me, and when I cover my hair, I feel closer to Him as well as my husband. It is a feeling a cannot explain. I was trying to find arguments against the things I was called to do, but my husband assured me that I should not worry about the judgment of others, but do what the Lord has called me to do without argument.
I agree, there's a feeling I get too, I feel more feminine, and I actually feel more"grounded" or stable if that makes sense. IMO it's a beautiful feeling of submission to God. And I have also started to observe Saturday Shabbat, around the same time of head covering. No one told me, I felt led, but also somehow this passage was brought to my attention. Honestly, I never felt weird about it really bc I had already been wearing bands and wraps around my head already.
Mike: *delays head coverings video for weeks and weeks* Also Mike: *finally releases it at almost 7 hours long* Never change, Mike. Now I just need to find time to sit down and listen to it.
So I listened to the intro now. I'm going to provide my thoughts before going any further: What you often see from skeptics is the argument that the Bible is confusing because people have so many different beliefs about it. The problem is really more that people don't like something that the Bible says, so they twist the plain text to mean something totally different. There are SOME things that are confusing, I won't deny that. Daniel and Revelation are both pretty confusing and hard to understand. Most of Scripture is pretty easy to understand. I think this is pretty easy to understand, too. Women should wear head coverings while in prayer and worship in church, while men should not. Men should also have short hair while women should keep their hair long. That's how simple it is. This is rooted in creation and how God created man and woman. Now, I don't think it means women should always wear head coverings all the time. There's no indication in the passage it ever suggests that idea. Considering I've recently grown my hair out (even though its a mess because clearly I don't know how to take care of long hair), this is hard for me as well. Its basically telling me its rooted in creation that as a man I should have short hair, that's a masculine trait. Another aspect of the passage is where it talks about women shaving their head. So there's two points here. What its saying is that women glorify God by keeping their hair long. It also says that NOT wearing a covering while in prayer and worship is as if they had shaved their head. So basically, what its saying is that not wearing a covering in this context fails to glorify God. Its not saying women should shave their head. I don't think this is a Salvation issue like many other things are. I don't think women will go to hell for not wearing a head covering in church. I do, however, think that it is saying that they honor God more strongly by wearing a head covering in church. And modern feminists hate this which is why most women don't wear head coverings in church anymore. Anyway, that's just my analysis before watching the full video. I'll go ahead and see what Mike thinks about it now.
I would actually argue that Daniel and Revelation are two of the easier books to understand if you know what is happening in the world right now (end times are playing out before our very eyes, we’re getting raptured very soon)!!
Mike, I do not comment on RUclips often, but I want to say thank you for your teachings. If only people were to follow the Bible as written instead of what the "church" teaches we would all be even stronger Christians. Unfortunately we have people nowadays who try to push the misinterpretation of these verses. Many of those who push veils today will always repeat over and over that if hair was the covering why would a woman need to cover their heads if it is already covered with hair are making a false assumption that the verses in question refer to women who already have their heads covered. That is not so. When reading verse 5 they are addressing those women whose heads are NOT covered meaning that they do not have long hair, which is revealed in a moment. But first let’s read some actual verses. “But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.” Therefore ONLY those whose heads are uncovered is this verse referring to. So the question you should ask yourself is if they are referring to a veil or that an "uncovered" head refers to someone who's head is not covered in long hair ergo "short hair"? The “already covered head” misinterpretation is what many of those who push for veils try to convince others of believing despite the fact that the rest of the verse as well as the other verses don't make sense if you try to apply the word "veil." For example in the second half of the verse it says women who are “uncovered” are equated with being shaven. So if we apply a veil here to a "typical" woman who has long hair it goes beyond logic. For example if a woman with long flowing hair is praying and prophesying who would think in their right mind that because she not wearing a veil that it would be somehow EQUATE TO BEING SHAVED?. That is illogical and ludicrous. But if we picture a woman with a man’s haircut, then we can easily make the comparison of why this would be viewed as if she were shaven. This veil issue normally stems from a few groups who adhere to the belief that it refers to an actual veil and want others to see what they see. It should be evident that the passages in question refer to long hair and short hair. It is CLEARLY MARKED OUT AND DEFINED in verse 15 "But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering" The "covering" therefore referred to in the earlier verses like 4, 5 and 6 makes sense in that when it says that it is shameful for a man to pray or prophesy with his head covered and for the women uncovered. Meaning it is obviously wrong for men to be having hair like a woman or a woman to have hair like a man while praying and so on. It also asks you make a judgment call as if one should NATURALLY see a problem because it asks you to: "Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?" in verse 13. How or why would anyone possibly come up with judgment that a woman praying or prophesying without a fabric veil on their head to be wrong? Looking at someone doing this does not automatically or naturally create a thought that a veil is missing. No one would be thinking "Yeah she is missing a veil on her head.” That would be ludicrous. There is NO NATURAL REASONING TO MAKE SUCH A JUDGMENT. But if it is understood to mean "short hair" like a man then it would make perfect sense. If I see a woman who has a manly haircut doing these holy things then I can naturally judge that there is something wrong here and that it doesn't look right. THE VERY NEXT VERSE CONITNUES TO FLOW OF SEEING THINGS SO OBVIOUS AND NATURAL: "Doth not even NATURE itself teach you, that, if a man have LONG HAIR, it is a shame unto him." So given all this, how can one conclude that they are referring to a cloth or veil? How can one have logical judgments or conclusions that by merely looking at a long-haired woman performing such holy acts without a veil there is something off. It makes no logical sense. No one does this. I’ve never seen or heard anyone make such remarks, ever. And I'll bet no one will answer this "judgment" call the Bible asks you to do logically, but will simply ignore it. Why? Because they can't find a way to answer it logically without realizing that they are wrong. Therefore the whole veil doctrine is wrong and cannot be substantiated and should be rejected.
I cover my head at church and Bible study. I felt called by God to do this after praying about it. My husband supports it, if he didn’t I wouldn’t do it out of respect to him. I think there is a beauty in head covering. I’m the only one at my church who does it, I’ve never been asked why or questioned on it. I’ve never believed it to be a salvation issue, I feel if you are led to do it, do it. It’s a beautiful thing. But don’t do it just to do it and not obey your husband either. He’s you’re lead. Let him lead.
The reception I got from a church a few times trying head coverings as a teen was a LOT of hostile glares! Maybe they talked to much about being scared of “SISI” (read backwards, trying not to get comment hidden you never know what does it these days). No words, but the sheer disapproval was greatly felt and I stopped. I started wearing more dresses and skirts, to deliberately look for other ways to show femininity and meekness. Maybe the attitudes have changed and it’d be worth trying again.
@@josephinenelan4204 If I was a teen again, I would consistently opt for hoodies in that context. On/off, no fuss, on point, but naturally my style and in a comfy, practical format that decidedly deviates from the shrouded, outlandish look which may spark hostile impressions in many.
To be honest, I feel more comfortable during church when I'm wearing a baseball cap. I don't understand why! The Lord didn't tell me I had to, but it feels right to me for some reason.
@@KaoXoni I feel that would have made people consider me disrespectful, but going forward if you know teen girls it’s one suggestion. This is SO timely! We're studying 1 Corinthians in my Precepts class. 7 hours??!! Oh my! I'm going to do my best to hear it all. You got me through Calvinism last month when we studied Malachi. Your teaching is such a blessing!
Thank you for this. I was called by the Lord recently to modesty to include head coverings well BEFORE i read the passage in the Bible. Watching was more confirming for me and offered knowledge that i can speak upon if asked by others why i do what i do.
@FA-God-s-Words-Matter hmmmm. Put me on the spot😆i would say: There's no rule or law that prohibits wearing of a headcovering wordly or biblically. But for me, i believe i was called to modesty in clothing and in spirit. Genesis 24:65 is the first mention of a woman wearing a veil out of respect. Although that probably was the culture at that time, during this time with everything hanging out i would prefer the way of old. Also in 1 Corinthians 11 the Bible shows where a woman should cover her head while in prayer. I could choose to only wear it on thise occassions but the Bible speaks of praying without ceasing. So it was a personal choice for me to wear one full time. No shade to women that don't, however wearing a headcovering is a constant reminder to me that i am under the submission and authority of God as well as my husband. Im sure i can tweak this but you're the first to ask. 🥰

One hour for six days then we rest. Thanks for all your effort and study on this. We wore head covering at a Brethren fellowship. It wasn’t mandated by the elders. They believed in teaching and allowing the Holy Spirit to direct the conviction. I’ve run across some in evangelical churches who will use head coverings even when no one else was. They were walking according to their convictions. Again thank you and hope you have full recovery from your Covid.

This is a subject I have struggled with for years, and even prayed about. We even talked about this in Sunday school several weeks ago, and I did not feel like we really came to right conclusions. So I kept praying until I prayerfully landed on your video. I think one reason that I have struggled with this is just how it seems no one in any church I have been to has ever done this. Tonight, when I brought up wearing a headcovering, my husband thought it sounded legalistic. I asked him to pray, and ordered some larger than normal headbands to see what he says. It's always hard for us women when we are willing to submit to the Word of GOD and are husbands are not quite there yet. This has not been a quick decision for me, but years in coming. I'm prayerfully considering how to honor GOD and respect my husband.
(I didn't watch this video but am familiar with this subject.) ...because the hair instead of a covering hath been given to her... In your own selves judge ye; is it seemly for a woman uncovered to pray to God? doth not even nature itself teach you, that if a man indeed have long hair, a dishonour it is to him? and a woman, if she have long hair, a glory it is to her, because the hair instead of a covering hath been given to her;... -Young's Literal Translation (YLT) A woman's long hair is the 'covering'. Multiple translations state that the hair is the 'covering'. This wasn't a law, even in the Old Testament. There was a law requiring the priests to cover with a fabric covering though. Every man who has something on his head while praying or prophesying disgraces his head. -NASB version If the above scripture means a turban, for example, why would God require the priests to wear turbans? Paul certainly would have known about this and maybe seen it. You shall speak to all the skillful people whom I have endowed with the spirit of wisdom, that they make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him, that he may serve as priest to Me. And these are the garments which they shall make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a tunic of checkered work, a turban, and a sash. They shall make holy garments for your brother Aaron and his sons, so that he may serve as priest to Me. -excerpt Exodus 28 ________________________________________________________________ My thoughts: post length 7 minutes, scriptures outside of Corinthians mostly.
I think your prayer landed on this video so you can hear people in the comments show with proof how the covering is long hair and not a foreign object. Paul says in 1st Cor 11:15 that God gave women long hair for a covering. There is no command that women are to wear a certain object. God cares about the heart not the outside wardrobe.
I am not always good at doing it but I do wear hats a lot. There are many women who read this and believe they should wear a hat. I don't think you have to make it legalistic - but you do by faith what you believe God is leading you to. Someone below believes it is hair....I as then what men are supposed to do NOT covering their head? Shave it every time they pray? No. There is a commentary by Leon Morris, he covers this very well. Most people I have heard say it was a covering but fall back on the "cultural" argument. I love that Mike did this. Blessings!!
@@IshallseekHim The major mistake that most have is misunderstanding the word uncovered because like you mentioned if a man is not to cover their head and covered means hair then should he shave it every time he prays? This is not what one is saying. Basically the logic presented stands or fails on whether the definition of "not covered" really means to be not covered in a veil or some sort of headwear. The Greek word for not being covered cannot be translated as neither bald nor a veil. 1 Corinth. 11:6. "For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered." For if the woman is ou katakaluptetai (“NOT DOWN COVERED” or “NOT DOWN THE HEAD, COVERED”), she might as well be shorn (as a sheep is shorn): but if it is a shame for a woman to be shorn (cut close, as a sheep is shorn) or shaven (bald), let her be katakaluptesthō (“ DOWN COVERED”, or “DOWN THE HEAD, COVERED”). So if covered means to be Down the head covered then we can easily state that hair fits into this logic since long hair can hang down and cover the head. And given the fact that the surrounding verses mention long hair on two occasions not to mention the words shorn and shaven, again related to hair, then keeping in context we should consider that the covering is long hair which is noted in verse 15. And if it makes sense that the hair when long can cover the head then to be uncovered or be "not covered" would mean simply short hair NOT shaved bald. For example: For if the woman be not covered (in long hair aka short hair), let her also be shorn (cut bald): but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven (shaved bald), let her be covered (in long hair). So it's not going from bald to again bald (as some people may think) neither is it referring to an actual veil but from having short hair to then being shorn (cut bald). This then makes sense when in verse 4 it mention men should not cover their head they mean not have long hair, which is repeated in verse 14. Therefore a man uncovered is a man with short hair (aka not covered in long hair). Simple.
Even if headcovering is a cultural practice, I think the time and culture we live in today would be a very, very good moment to bring back this symbol of headship and obedience. I think it would be very beneficial in this time and age that we have a way like that to express that we want to be obedient and submissive to our headship.
I really don't understand how culture is essentially a free pass to not cover when it is so easily influenced by Satan. Of course he would mold culture to make covering unacceptable. I agree, it would be so beneficial to the world to have roles right, but I think that is exactly why it's so rare now.
I have never felt the need for a head covering at any point in my 45 years of walking with the lord. To me it has the feel of LAW. It’s completely cultural and totally not necessary today.
@@mariaveritas2886 This was never in the Law as we know. So +1000 years during the time of the Law, and God never wanted this. That in itself is a huge thing. One of the few scriptures about this, is regards to temple prostitutes. So she removed her widow’s garments and covered herself with a veil, and wrapped herself, and sat in the gateway of Enaim, which is on the road to Timnah; for she saw that Shelah had grown up, and she had not been given to him as a wife. When Judah saw her, he assumed she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face. Also: He asked the people of her place, saying, “Where is the temple prostitute who was by the road at Enaim?” But they said, “There has been no temple prostitute here.” -excerpt Genesis 38
@Arie Kanarie not many did but the ones that were wearing coverings did it not because they thought they were supposed to but because women in several cultures covered their heads so it was normal for them
@@toliveischrist950 so true.I debate a lot with Muslims and everything is EXTERNAL to them with nothing internal. This just makes me think so much of their forced hijab. Is the Abaya next?
Thank you for your careful and thorough study on head coverings! I’ve been encouraged by the women in ministry series and hope other women are as well. My first exposure to headcovings was at a Christian church in India where I was asked to cover my head during the service. I didn’t start wearing myself until years later. I don’t believe it is something the church “needs” to bring back, but I think the effects would be overwhelmingly positive for those who do. Women, submission, & headship are all beautiful things to be celebrated and honor the Lord with. I’ve also found that wearing a head covering has personally been very humbling and convicting. My sinful nature is to “desire to rule over my husband”, but having a physical reminder on my head has really helped me to respect and submit to my husband in the everyday moments.
100% agree! I feel the same way. It’s a nice reminder. I need to be reminded of submission to my husband a lot, that’s an area I struggle with so much. But when I cover, it really helps.
@@leahgenelittrell this is a genuine question - why do we need an external reminder. Isn't the holy spirit convicting us and refining us? Personally I do not currently wear a head covering but I love to submit to my husband. I have long hair and seek to look femine and seek to honor the Lord through honouring my husband. This is the work of the Lord, not externally reminding myself to work harder.
@jennifergeorge7280 I dont think she meant that it is a need, just that overall would have a positive impact. I feel the same as you, I dont think I need headcoverings as a physical reminder. But not everyone is the same. It would help other women who do benefit from the reminder, and I'd like to add that if most women did this collectively and normalize it again, it would help the understanding for women who are rejecting the idea of headship. Some would fight back harder, surely. But I just feel it would help other Christian women to accept. As an aid though, not a must.
Mike, this is one of your best videos, thank you so much for this. I so appreciate how deeply you dive into the details of this passage, and how clearly you articulate the arguments for and against modern use of head coverings in worship. One of the things you do really well is present the nitty-gritty details in an understandable way, but then draw out and clarify the key message of the text, which, at the end of the day, is what’s most important to us as followers of Christ. I’m grateful for your study and efforts, and your willingness to make a nearly 7-hour video on what can seem like a peripheral topic to a lot of people today. You’ve certainly given me a lot to think about and consider, particularly in how the Bible presents the husband-wife relationship, and how that differs from the modern, egalitarian culture I was raised in. So coming from a convinced Calvinist, thank you so much for blessing the church! :)
I laughed a joyful and excited laugh when I saw how long this video is! Thank you, Mike, for your careful study of God’s Word. We appreciate you and the gift you are to Christ’s body!!❤️
The first thing I want to say is congratulations!!! This is an awesome video. It took me 3 days to finish watching it due to life responsibilities, but it was so worth it. Thanks for being this thorough. I want a shirt that says, "I watched Mike Wingers 7 hour head covering video without playing it at a faster speed." Secondly, the scriptural evidence you provided argues for head coverings pretty strongly, and I'm glad that you emphasized that it should be done while praying or prophesying. Paul's use of prophesying in 1 Corinthians 11-14 means simply speaking about the word of God. Not a divine revelation. But it would seem the setting is while gathered together for worship or evangelization instead of casual gatherings. There are some churches that believe that a woman should wear head coverings all day, but scripture doesn't say that. It just says while praying or prophesying. The head covering is supposed to symbolize submission. For married women especially since they are called to submit to their husbands, like the church submits to God. Although we can't argue for unmarried to wear head coverings in chapter 11, we also can't argue against it. I can only see good things coming out of if they practice versus if they don't. Thirdly, I think one of the reasons women are required to wear head coverings is for reverence as well. This would make sense with the "because of the angels." I think if you consider what Jude says about Michael in verse 9 not wanting to pronounce "blasphemous judgment"' but instead said, "The Lord rebuke you" is because angels are also worthy of respect since they are in the presence of the Lord. They are careful of what they say to each other, unlike us. They are angelic observers and want to see God revered. Remember that odd story in Acts when somebody failed to honor God properly and died because an angel killed him??? Fourthly, I'm glad you mentioned Micahel Heiser. He is a great scholar, but his teaching in this part of scripture is incorrect. Makes no biblical sense, and you pointed that out very well. I'm sorry you had to do so much research to prove how something so simple is misunderstood and taken out of context. Heiser is all about context, but he let his desire for cultural context take over the simple reading of chapter 11. Fifthly, your point about the flaw against head coverings in the church based on culture I think, is flawed. My reason is because the fact that America, for example, doesn't practice it as a nation is simply based on bad teaching and being influenced by the feminist movement. As Christians, we have our own culture, which is separate from the culture of the nation we live in. We have to seek God's culture and have that influence our nations culture, not the other way around. Overall, you presented a great case for head coverings. Thanks Mike! God bless!!!
When I saw this video posted at almost 7 hours long I went for a long walk and smiled because I knew how much intense research went into this, into questions that I couldn’t even begin to answer. I am so grateful! Though it will probably take me a week or two to wade through 😅 God bless Pastor Mike and his family in the name of Jesus!
I’m so thankful for this teaching, thank you for taking the Bible so seriously and for the massive amounts of time you spent researching for this teaching. I will listen to all 7 hours, understanding how our King wants us to live is very important to me and I’ve had many questions about these passages.
I’ve needed some clarity on this topic for a while. Thanks for making this video. I’ve been using your videos as guide for my Bible study. Thank you, Mike for doing what you do. You’ve been a great help on my journey and my growth in the faith. Keep doing the Lord’s work.
Over 6 hours of solid biblical teaching is amazing. What’s even more amazing is that it has over 43k views in one day! Wow. Thanks for clearly filling a need.
Thank you Mike! I converted from nondenominational Protestantism to Eastern Orthodox Christianity in 2019. When I joined The Church, I decided to cover daily, any time I’m outside my home (even when I take my dog out). While head coverings are common in some Orthodox churches (mostly Russian, OCA, and Ethopian), I go to a Greek church where they are not at all common. Our priest’s wife doesn’t cover. But I felt God telling me I was supposed to cover and so I do. It has been a blessing to me and I can’t imagine I’ll ever stop. There are amazing (mostly Orthodox Jew) companies to help women learn how to cover and still maintain their own sense of style and individuality. Thank you for your exhaustive video. I can’t think of any questions that remain!
Wow. Thank you for pouring so much time and effort into this. As a wife and mother, I extend my thanks to your family for their part in giving up their time with you which was spent on this study.
I’m baking today. I have been listening for three hours and never lost interest! I cannot imagine how many hours it took you to prepare this teaching, Mike, but I appreciate it. Whether or not the subject of covering or uncovering my head will actually relate to anything practical in own my life remains to be seen, except the insight given in unrelated scriptures with the same word meaning uncovered is very interesting and certainly relevant. Also, the insights into authority as relates to men and women, now THAT I want to hear more about! Fascinating! This teaching emphasizes well, the need to compare scripture with scripture and not just cherry pick a verse to make any case. Again. Thank you, Mike. Sorry you’re under the weather! The Word says you are healed and you were healed New and Old testaments, so I agree with that for your physical healing. Jesus paid it ALL.
Yea!!! Finally here! Been waiting so long! I grew up in a home or church where a head covering was used and used one when I got married. After a while I really got confused, so many friends dropped it and and for me having worn one I needed to be confident it wasn’t required before dropping it. I studied it and it was still confusing but I actually kept it and the reasons why was first because there was not solid enough arguments for me to be confident it wasn’t required and mostly I knew it my heart it was a vanity issue for me. I didn’t want to look odd. I was searching for a way out because i didn’t want too wear it. So I simply knew even if it wasn’t required I needed to learn to be submissive to the Lord instead of finding reasons to get out of the things we don’t like about being a Christian. Even if this isn’t required I knew it was better if I just did.
Mike, I cannot thank you enough for your ministry on RUclips. I was just telling my husband, my favorite thing about you is that you teach us everything, not just your position and what you think is correct. When I started listening to you, I honestly felt a bit saddened and disappointed in my previous teachers throughout my life. Because I have grown up in the church since birth, and went to a Christian University and too Bible classes, and nobody taught the way you do. Nobody teaches you everything and then gives you the proper understanding of why we take one position over the other. Nobody walks you through the actual logic and reason and teaches you how to think for yourself. I think that is so, so, so important! If you don't do that, then when people grow up and encounter pushback against what they're been taught, not only are they not going to know how to reason through it on their own, but they are also going to wonder why the church has been hiding that pushback from them. It really feels sketchy... like the church is threatened by other views, so they just never even tell their congregation that those views exist. That could easily lead people to a lot of confusion, questioning the faith, and not having the proper tools to get out of that position. So again, thank you so much for what you do. I really hope that if you have conversations with other pastors, you encourage them to see how important it is to teach their congregation all different views, and wall them through why some are bad logic or bad theology, and others aren't. It's so valuable. When it comes to head coverings, I actually just recently realized I knew absolutely nothing about them and should probably learn. When my husband summed up this video to me, I actually felt pretty strongly that it sounded like I should be wearing a covering. I was totally on board and ready to do that, but I wanted to watch the video myself first. I actually ended up agreeing with your position, by the end. The most convincing part of your argument to me is the fact that head coverings were never established by God in the OT. I had already been wondering about that myself, so hearing you confirm what I thought was true, that they aren't, was helpful. I'm glad God took me on that journey the way He did, though. If I had watched this when I fully believed head coverings were unnecessary, and I agreed with you in the end, I might have worried that that was just my own wishful thinking. But since I recently decided I thought they probably *were* necessary, and that I was completely fine with that and ready to do it (I was literally looking at coverings on Amazon lol), the fact that I ultimately agreed with your position feels much more solid, and I know there is none of my own desires getting in the way of understanding this clearly. Anyway, fantastic study. I'm so grateful for this, and for your ministry! I live in NorCal, and I hope to get to meet you someday. If not here, then in the next life. :)
Wow, thank you for your comment. And maybe you can watch or read Richard Oster's explanation for this topic too. He also agree that head covering is cultural, but unlike the usual commentaries that just point to Roman prostitute etc, he talked about the relation between head covering and Roman religion practice too. :D
I’ve been watching chunks of this video in the mornings while I’m getting ready. Wow the amount of in-depth study is so impressive and amazing! I’m very grateful for Mike’s work.
All you ladies in the comments, my sisters and mothers; you melt my heart. May the Lord bless your obedience to Christ. And thank you Pastor Mike. And thank you brothers and fathers for wanting to obey God while being called sexist, patriarchal, and legalistic. May we sweat and bleed and die for our families and the church in submission to Christ.
Hi Mike, thank you for this teaching. I have been waiting for it and will probably watch it a couple of times because it is the most comprehensive one I have found. Around the time you fell ill, a group of my friends and I, after studying this scripture passage- started wearing head coverings when we have our monthly family fellowship at our homes. Only in that setting, When our husband's are present. Even in our homes we cover when praying as a family unit. I must say it doesn't come easy for me to do it. I do it because of what is in scripture and it is to honour my head (husband). It is quite humbling because I have a very sttong personality. It is an outward representation of what I believe is true in the Word-the order of creation, honouring my head, the angels that observe our worship of God.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It's gonna take me several days to get through it, but I want to watch the whole though because I know you took A LOT of time to make this video and do your research. Thank you for all you do for the body of Christ. We appreciate you ❤️.
I have yet to finish the video I’m only like 15 minutes in but I wanna say before I finish this long video that I cover my head when in prayer, I was convicted on this year’s ago and I listened and I pray all day, so I cover my head all day, almost. But this was a conviction for me one, that I could not ignore…. TIMES CHANGE YAHUAH DOESN’T. Peace and love to you all.
1) as a Christian I love these long format conversations 2) my church is a church that uses head coverings, we are a Hispanic church located in Miami, and I have to answer questions like this all the time. My stance is (at the moment) it’s not necessary, but we do it out of love and obedience. 3) as a sound engineer also, I love that you upgraded to an RE 20. It definitely gives your voice more of a radio/podcast sound!
I didn't notice the new mic (usually listening to Mike thru phone speakers), but anyways: did you know that Mike has a second channel where he talks about how he runs his channel? The audio, the video, the hardware, the software, all that stuff.
I did not know that Women in the US stopped head covering because of feminist protests. (Or 'randomly' around the time of those protests.) That in itself is enough to make me want head covering to make a comeback. When in doubt, I'd rather be unsure and follow my Lord than be unsure and follow culture and political protests intended to change the church and our relationship to God. The only thing is, I'm not sur I want to 'stand out' as covering in rebellion, which seems the opposite of my intention. So I'll be putting thought and prayer into this.
As some have posted, the covering is the hair itself. By 198 A.D. women were totally veiled and covered in at least one area. I've posted that a few times. I don't think you want to go in this direction.
I think we should be motivated by sola scriptura and not so much what the world dictates or is doing. What people did or did not do in history is irrelevant. If it's not grounded in the Word of God, then we as Christians should ignore it. God gave women long hair as the covering so there is no need to think beyond what the scriptures declare.
@@biblechats5936 This area, or areas, was commended by Clement of Alexandria, a so-called early church father. His words are below. So apparently some churches accepted the fabric covering. It's not about what the world was doing, but what happened to Christian women. So sad. ************************************************* "but because it has also been enjoined that the head should be veiled and the face covered" ” But I do not wish chaste women to afford cause for such praises to those who, by praises, hunt after grounds of censure; and not only because it is prohibited to expose the ankle, but because it has also been enjoined that the head should be veiled and the face covered; for it is a wicked thing for beauty to be a snare to men. Nor is it seemly for a woman to wish to make herself conspicuous, by using a purple veil. Would it were possible to abolish purple in dress, so as not to turn the eyes of spectators on the face of those that wear it! But the women, in the manufacture of all the rest of their dress, have made everything of purple, thus inflaming the lusts. -Clement of Alexandria about 198 A.D. As scripture says about Clement: To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed. excerpt Titus 1

Mike / BibleThinker, thanks for your very thorough response to this issue. I have three pushbacks on the default to cultural application: 1) I think most Western people today would still recognize a woman's covering her head, especially in a worship context, as a symbol of complementarian gender role differences. They might see it as a sign of repression, but they would still understand the thrust of the practice. So I don't quite agree with the argument that head covering (along with the corollary of male uncovering) has lost all or most of its original meaning. 2) Many people have argued that women covering their heads for worship is a cultural issue with cultural applications. But Mike notes here that many Corinthian men would also have been accustomed to covering their heads for worship; therefore, it seems to me that part of Paul's application was already countercultural. In turn, a countercultural application implies that the applicative principle transcends culture. 3) It’s not obvious to me that Paul would be interested enough in social decorum to devote this much space to an argument for maintaining the status quo on a somewhat peripheral issue. After all, at the time he was the foremost proponent of a kingdom that turned the world, with all its conventions and proprieties, upside down. It's clear that Paul respected local cultures, but he didn’t demand deference to them. Mike, God bless you and your team - you do great work and I respect you a lot. Thanks again!
I agree with your first point and had the same thought myself. Before Christ, I knew exactly what it meant and I despised it so much, I would seethe when I saw a woman covering for church, even if it were just a fancy hat. We know what it means and I agree with Mike, it should be celebrated.
How do you feel about the point that head covering for women was not commanded in Torah/Mosaic Law for worship or prayer? This point entirely changed my mind and made it obvious to me it was cultural command to this church specifically. However, I am always open to the idea I could be missing something.
@@abeautifulmoment2714 Long story short, the interpretative tradition I come from doesn't hold that Christians are bound in any way by the Mosaic law. Jesus Himself taught that the old things were passing away - in Matthew 5, for example: "You have heard that it was said, . . . " "But I say unto you, . . . " Thus I don't put much stock in comparative arguments from Moses. Not that we can’t learn from them about the character of God, of course. But He is "doing a new thing", and we should be aware of that. More to the point, though: my second pushback above notes that part of the instruction to the Corinthians was countercultural (as far as I can see). If so, I don't see any way to derive a culturally bound application from it. After all, who's to say that God’s instruction to us today isn't countercultural?
@@christophergood9533 I also agree that we aren't bound in anyway to Mosaic Law and do not think that Christians should observe the Torah- but I think it's a mistake to disregard it from Bible Study. Remember, these were God's commands for His people. If head coverings were a command that should be carried out indefinitely for churches from Corinth on out to the modern age, why wouldn't have it been commanded earlier? What changed that this would have needed to be a command indefinitely? Christs death and ressurection doesnt seem like a good answer for this change, does it? Added note: A lot of the Torah was counter cultural too. Regardless, you are free to your convictions! Be blessed❤
Thanks Christopher Good, points worthy of consideration. Especially point 1 and 2 As to your first point, I have seen a very strong reaction from a lady who holds to feminism, she divided over the issue even though she was free to not cover her head. This lady dresses like a lady so she is not against gender differences but is against the symbolic meaning of head coverings. Given Mike’s assessment it should not be an issue to divide over, yet it provokes very strong reactions. This is interesting to me.

no need to celebrate anything about ourselves. I would be God putting our natures to us . Gender was given by God at birth, not given to man who would chose for himself... a big difference. We need not celebrate perversion of God's intentions and distort who God made us to be. God don't make mistakes ! He said "male and female', woman or man, not transitions !
God decides our gender. Not people

Never..actually may need to slow it down. This is like drinking water from a water hydrant!

Praise God. I know what it is like to be the only woman wearing a head covering. - Rachel
Well done Nancy. My wife too.Very clear to us
So funny this video came up. I have had this on my mind for the past year!
@@thomasb282 what kind of church?
Being a female veteran, I absolutely understand the headship.
It is called rank.
Exactly synonymous to being enlisted vs being an officer. My job during my enlistment was primarily a support position, so I understand it from that aspect as well.
I do cover my head while praying (I don't know that I have ever uttered a prophecy in my lifetime, and I have certainly never claimed to have), because I view it as simply "the Word says it, I will do it", very like the military says that you will wear a cover (hat) outdoors and remove that cover when indoors. Do I care why? Nope. Regs say it, I do it.
(Civilans probably won't get this.)
I do not force this belief on others, it is MY conviction, despite it very much not being the culture of my church body.
(And yes, I do cover my head while praying at home most of the time, but sometimes not at night when I wake up and pray, because I am not that coherent, so I am not legalistic about it either.)
And the whole idiocy of headcoverings or hair being synonymous with genitals and being unclothed....
2Tim2:3-4
Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good. 1 p 4:19 ❤
Thank you for your service.
You seem to be certain about your opinion, so just
one thing.
What if there was a married couple in ancient Israel,
and the woman was over the (male) commander of the
army of Israel? And what if it was God's will?
Yes she was, and Yes it was.
Bless you, Marah
I love your explanation and agree with you ❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

My mind is blown that someone can make a video over 6 hours long about Headcovering! This is great! I am almost 4 hours in on watching the video. Really good content, btw.
Head covering is HEADSHIP
Head covering is long hair (v15)
In 48 years, this is the first clear study of the subject of hair covering, where all the questions and confusions I had are finally cleared up. Thank you so much!
If we follow those who subscribe to the doctrine of women wearing veils then it can be argued that the most often cited verse in this teaching is 1st Corinth. 11:5, which states:
“But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.”
According to those who believe women ought to wear veils this verse implies that a woman’s uncovered head is someone who does not wear a veil, is wrong for failing to wear it and assumes that such a person already has long hair.
….. (II)
If we examine all the verses from verse 4 to 15 without bias we should at least conclude that the passages have something to do with the physical heads of both men and women. The question we should ask is: When they refer to “covered,” “cover,” “uncovered” and “covering” are they referring to hair that covers the head or some kind of veil? Some will even say both, but if we carefully examine verse 15 it would seem that we would be getting a clearer picture of what was being referred to in the earlier verses when it mentions the words, “covered,” “cover” and “uncovered."
“But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her FOR a covering."
If the covering is long hair then the words “covered” or “cover” which are synonymous to “covering,” should be understood as long hair as well.
(III)
If these verses do not move you yet then here’s one that should definitely blow your mind. Paul asks you to make a judgment call in verse 13 as if one should naturally see a problem because he asks you to:
"Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?"
If “covering” really meant a veil then one would have to explain why anyone would possibly come up with a judgment that a woman praying or prophesying WITHOUT A FABRIC VEIL ON THEIR HEAD WOULD LOGICALLY OR NATURALLY LOOK WRONG?
"Doth not even NATURE itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him." 1st Corinthians 11:14
Note that verses 13 and 14 are two consecutive questions both of which asks you to NATURALLY ASSUME that there something wrong by SEEING a woman’s head to be uncovered (meaning having short hair) and a man having long hair (meaning being covered).
“Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.”
This “dishonoring” of the head fits perfectly with verse 14 where it mentions that it is “shameful“ for a man to have long hair, therefore the topic is the same throughout the verses in that the head covered in this verse refers to “long hair. ”
I should also add that these verses in NO WAY imply that the covering on the man can be placed on or taken off, like some like to argue. It’s SIMPLY SAYING that it is a dishonor if a man prays or prophesies in LONG HAIR. The same should be understood in verse 7:
“For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.”
Again, they are NOT implying something that can be put on or taken off but that the man should not cover his head (with long hair) and the reason because he is the image and glory of God. This same idea should be included in the verses that refer to women like in verse 6:
“For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.”
This verse is often misinterpreted like verse 5 when it’s simply mentioning in the same tone as the previous verse that if a woman has short hair then let her head be shaved BUT if it is a shame to be shaven let her be covered in long hair.

There are a number of reasons I've posted. But to keep this short,
the main one is that God wanted His daughters uncovered during

Mike! Don’t be embarrassed by the length of the video! I’m excited to watch it. Thank you for all of your teaching.
What's embarrassing is that this topic requires a 6.75 hour diagnosis, yet modern Christianity teaches that "the Law is done away with," and "a burden," despite the clear teaching of the Messiah:
“For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one yod or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Law [Torah] till ALL be done." (Matt 5:18)
Gosh the woman who says let me ask my husband first and other women saying, “oh you’re one of those. You poor thing.”
That’s so sooooo real. That absolutely hit home with me!
People used to ask me, “What do you do all day?” 🙄 For starters, I was raising 4 children.

Most egalitarian women are bitter from what I’ve seen .
This entire matter gets under my skin, so I don't want

Do not let your adorning be the outward adorning of braiding the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine clothing. But let it be the hidden nature of the heart, that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

I had already gone into the meeting trembling about what would happen and ended up blushing so hard it reached my ears and I was on the brink of tears, because this was done in front of a room of people by someone I deeply respected and looked up to.)
I'm so so appreciative of this video and the time and care you put into this Pastor Mike.
"....I started to view everything in light of what was MOST honouring to God, not just what was sin and not sin."
Thank you - that's given me an awful lot to think about.

I love it as well. He really brings a full insight through scripture why a woman believer should wear a head covering.
Nope.
* Where the problem usually begins… (I)
If we follow those who subscribe to the doctrine of women wearing veils then it can be argued that the most often cited verse in this teaching is 1st Corinth.

Now I just need to find time to sit down and listen to it.
So I listened to the intro now. I'm going to provide my thoughts before going any further:
What you often see from skeptics is the argument that the Bible is confusing because people have so many different beliefs about it.
@@PatrickStar12341 Christians have been saying that for 1900 years.

My grandma was very strong Christian women she had head covering and was always silent in church did everything the bible says she was blessed
Lukewarm christians are changing everything in the bible making it wordly
Amen us modern Christians need to get back to the bible
Did you watch the whole video?

I recently began covering my head. So far, I'm the only one I know who has the same conviction.

@FA-God-s-Words-Matter hmmmm. Put me on the spot😆i would say:
There's no rule or law that prohibits wearing of a headcovering wordly or biblically.

-Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
A woman's long hair is the 'covering'.
Multiple translations state that the hair is the 'covering'. This wasn't
a law, even in the Old Testament. There was a law requiring the priests
to cover with a fabric covering though.
Every man who has something on his head while praying or prophesying disgraces his head.
-NASB version
If the above scripture means a turban, for example, why would God require the priests to
wear turbans? Paul certainly would have known about this and maybe seen it.
You shall speak to all the skillful people whom I have endowed with the spirit of wisdom, that they make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him, that he may serve as priest to Me. And these are the garments which they shall make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a tunic of checkered work, a turban, and a sash. They shall make holy garments for your brother Aaron and his sons, so that he may serve as priest to Me.

My thoughts: post length 7 minutes, scriptures outside of Corinthians mostly.
@@JohnYoder-vi1gjthanks. I am now growing my hair longer
Simple.
This man did a whole shift on head coverings, God bless this man.
One of the few scriptures about this, is regards to temple
prostitutes.
Also:
He asked the people of her place, saying, “Where is the temple prostitute who was by the road at Enaim?” But they said, “There has been no temple prostitute here.”

Good share, thanks! Agreeable!
I want a shirt that says, "I watched Mike Wingers 7 hour head covering video without playing it at a faster speed."
Secondly, the scriptural evidence you provided argues for head coverings pretty strongly, and I'm glad that you emphasized that it should be done while praying or prophesying.
Wow. This is going to take a long time to get through. But thank you, Pastor Mike, for your intense dedication!!

Do you have any of those companies names on hand? I would love to check them out. 😊
How somebody who was against idols become idolater ,I wonder.
Even if this isn’t required I knew it was better if I just did.
i like what you said, it had to do with a deeper issue in your heart, so to fight it you kept it.
6hours & 45 minutes? Light work!
Thank you so much for your ministry Pastor Mike!
I’ve been watching chunks of this video in the mornings while I’m getting ready. Wow the amount of in-depth study is so impressive and amazing! I’m very grateful for Mike’s work.
This man made a near 7 hour documentary about head coverings, that is dedication, and will make great viewing albiet in multiple parts
What is the conclusion he made at the end and is it in alignment of what you do?
God bless you 🕊
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It's gonna take me several days to get through it, but I want to watch the whole though because I know you took A LOT of time to make this video and do your research. Thank you for all you do for the body of Christ. We appreciate you ❤️.
"The problem is not the scripture but modern culture" - so true
Best boiled down explanation and Biblical worldview context at 3:07:45.
Thank you Pastor Mike & team for all this research and effort to teach us 👍
I have yet to finish the video I’m only like 15 minutes in but I wanna say before I finish this long video that I cover my head when in prayer, I was convicted on this year’s ago and I listened and I pray all day, so I cover my head all day, almost. But this was a conviction for me one, that I could not ignore…. TIMES CHANGE YAHUAH DOESN’T. Peace and love to you all.
Oh my goodness! I haven't even watched it yet, and I'm already SO IMPRESSED with the work you put into this! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
1) as a Christian I love these long format conversations
2) my church is a church that uses head coverings, we are a Hispanic church located in Miami, and I have to answer questions like this all the time.
By 198 A.D. women were totally veiled and covered
in at least one area.
@@biblechats5936 This area, or areas, was commended by
Clement of Alexandria, a so-called early church father.
His words are below. So apparently some churches
accepted the fabric covering. It's not about what the
world was doing, but what happened to Christian women.
So sad.
*************************************************
"but because it has also been enjoined that the head should be veiled and the face covered"
” But I do not wish chaste women to afford cause for such praises to those who, by
praises, hunt after grounds of censure; and not only because it is prohibited to expose the ankle,
but because it has also been enjoined that the head should be veiled and the face covered; for it is
a wicked thing for beauty to be a snare to men. Nor is it seemly for a woman to wish to make herself
conspicuous, by using a purple veil. Would it were possible to abolish purple in dress, so as not to
turn the eyes of spectators on the face of those that wear it! But the women, in the manufacture of
all the rest of their dress, have made everything of purple, thus inflaming the lusts.
-Clement of Alexandria about 198 A.D.
As scripture says about Clement:
To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.

Nah Mikes a living legend for an almost 7 hour video! Def worth the wait!!!
I haven't watched this yet but wow almost 7 hrs?! I think we are all pretty blown away by how much work you put into your videos so that we can think biblically about everything. Gotta say though brother you out did yourself on this one, I know it's going to be great listening and taking it all in. We appreciate you more than you know for all you do for the body of Christ!
Nature teaches us that long hair on a man is a disgrace, but that long videos are a glory. This is an epic effort, Mike!
Finally, finished this video! Amazing teaching and strong adherence to the Word of God. Thank you pastor Mike. I was raised egalitarian by my parents, but now I understand that gender roles are in fact Biblical. Time for me to step up as a man for God!
I'm barely an hour in and am enjoying this teaching so much! I truly appreciate the time, thought and care you've put into this pastor Mike! God bless you!
Thank you so much for taking the time to put this video and series together! I can't imagine how many hours of work you put into this research, and we appreciate it so much. Your channel is such a blessing. Praise God!!!
Mike / BibleThinker, thanks for your very thorough response to this issue. I have three pushbacks on the default to cultural application:
1) I think most Western people today would still recognize a woman's covering her head, especially in a worship context, as a symbol of complementarian gender role differences.
Especially point 1 and 2
As to your first point, I have seen a very strong reaction from a lady who holds to feminism, she divided over the issue even though she was free to not cover her head. This lady dresses like a lady so she is not against gender differences but is against the symbolic meaning of head coverings.
Given Mike’s assessment it should not be an issue to divide over, yet it provokes very strong reactions. This is interesting to me.
I've been following along since last spring with all of your videos, and I must say, this is the most thorough and comprehensive discussion about these issues I have ever read or listened to. I appreciate you, Pastor Mike, for your gentleness and your wealth of knowledge and your humility. Praying you will get over covid once and for all!
Firstly, Mike, thank you for once again honouring God by using sound viewpoints and interpreting His Word in a way that honours His holy character.
Secondly, thank you so much for working so hard on this video! I really appreciate the time and effort you gave to study, organise and teach. Amazing!
Thirdly, thank you for inspiring me to embrace the way God made me, to honour the way He wants things to be done, and ultimately to honour Him with all that I am!
Fourthly, numbers.
Much respect and gratitude to you for this epic lesson! And all glory to God! 🤗
