incoming mhc first years just got our pre orientation check list thing (at least i did) and oh my goodness there are so many things we have to do and they didnt even mention the four hour(?!?!) drug seminar but this video made me a little less anxious and was v helpful so thank you!!!

To be honest, I don't think the drug seminar even took me the full four hours. From what I recall, I sped the video up and just answered the quick questions in b between and probably finished in like 2ish hours. And don't stress about the check list. It seems like a lot, but you finish it pretty quickly.
I think it would be weird if I just started messaging people I hardly know. In the place I'm currently staying that's not something we do, people are very private here and they would feel uncomfortable or act standoffish if I tried doing any of that, plus I'm more interested in the educational part of college which is the whole point of going.

yay I am so glad! yep first years do not get to choose roommates (at least att MHC) and I got a random roommate assigned based on profile information my first year! I found out my roommate assignment around the end of June I think, hope that helps!
Technically there's a way to choose your roommate as a first year. I applied to be in an LLC and my friend was also applying there so we linked our roommate profiles. If you don't know anyone yet, you can just reach out to people via your class Facebook/social media. A lot of people look for roommates that way.
