i took a gap year and it was the BEST THING EVER. i had wanted to do interior design coming out of high school and then i took a gap year, went vegan during that time, and decided my two passions were environmental studies and theatre and that's what i'm doing now and couldn't be happier! not to mention i also traveled for a couple of months which was incredible and i worked and made money. literally a triple win. TAKE A GAP YEAR PLEASE!!!!! best year of my life!

i felt so silly transferring closer to home from my “dream” school after first semester freshman year but i’m so glad i did it and i’m glad someone else had a similar experience!! i don’t know how it was for you but i kinda felt like a failure for it but i feel a little bit better knowing thats something people experience as well

I think gap years are so important, especially if you’re not really sure what you want to do moving forward and you don’t feel super motivated. I went in as a food science major because I thought that was the best option in getting a job later on in life even though my passion was in literature and writing. I finished my freshman year in college at a huge school, while living at home and was not happy. I hated the school, I wasn’t making friends, I hated my major and I didn’t like feeling stuck in my hometown. So I took a gap year between my freshman and sophomore year and was able to figure out so much and really discover what I’m passionate about and what I wanted to study for the rest of my time in college. I ended up moving across the country to a smaller school and it was the perfect fit for me and I was so much happier. So gap years don’t always need to be right out of high school to beneficial either.

Alsooo i feel like college seems “easier” bc your choosing a class that fits you so you’ll like it more.. so even if its more work, it’s fine cause it often is fun to do?

I took a gap year and spent 7 months with a host family abroad and now that I'm back, everyone who's a freshman in college is struggling with online classes from the quarantine and I'm just chillin here with zero responsibilities. This gap year really worked out for me lmao. Okay but on a serious note, if you're burnt out from school, unsure of what you wanna do, or just need a break in general take a gap year!!! Constantly running on the treadmill of school life is NOT healthy and everyone needs a break to relax and think things through. I'm now super excited and motivated to go to college and more confident about what I wanna study.
