    You can check out my specs in the description. Remember: you will need to adjust the settings I mention yourself, because every system is different: there is no single "best" tweak. That's also why I can't send you my Prepar3D.cfg, because it makes no sense and causes errors because of different hard- and software ;). Thanks for watching! :)

    Hi AviationPro ,I'm running a Z97 motherboard
    intel core i7- 4760k (not overclocked)
    Seahawk GTX 980ti
    16 GB DDR4 RAM
    I was told that I shouldn't, and didn't need to alter the P3Dv3 cfg file.
    However, I did back it up and inserted "affinity mask=85", and changed one or two things in my P3D settings, according to your advice. Gave it a quick try by known weather and scenery factors.
    The result was truely amazing......... Fantastic smoothness, and double Frame Rate (average 50-60 fps)
    I also noticed that my GPU and CPU were running at constant lower temperatures than before.
    I thought there was something missing at first, but it's all there........... Amazing !!!!!!
    THANKS A MILLION !!!!!!

    Thanks for the suggestion to set the frame rate limiter to unlimited. It solved the non-smootheness I had been seeing for quite a while in P3D. Enabling the external frame rate limiter through nVidia Inspector seems to work better (has no influence on the smootheness in P3D). Keep up the good work!

    great video, I'll experiment with my settings sometime. When I first setup p3d, I set it up just enough to fly, but never really optimized it.
    Question, have you used any atc add-ons? my terminology still isn't particularly good enough for vatsim, and I'm sure you know how bad the default atc is. I'm sick of being told on my approach at FL120 "123, cleared to land runway 34L, turn right a full 360 degrees, roll inverted and climb to FL140, check gear down".

      I personally never used such program and I don't know of one by heart. I just began to fly on VATSIM and listened to a lot of real world live ATC and learned it that way ;)

      Pro Atc os just an addon atc program you can purchase. It is 100 times better than default Atc but will cost $ if your happy on vatsim thats good to though and its free

    whats up buddy,,, im really enjoying watching your videos,, im just starting to get into the world of flight simulation and your videos are on point! i hope one day i´ll be able to pilot just like you,, any tips or any books i should look into to start learning properly,, as i said im a total noob in this and have no idea how to fly,, i mean i know how to fly with the joystick but have no idea how to use the instruments in the plane properly,, like the gps radio etc... you get the point... thanks ahead of time and keep up the great work,, oh and you should do a new vid on your simulator setup ,, as you would say to the atc´s.. bye bye ;-)

    • @AviationPro

      Thanks! Glad to hear the videos help. You could even try the flight lessons that come with Microsoft Flight Simulator, in that way you can learn about some of the very basics of flying. Of course, the internet is full of information. If you'd like to try VATSIM sometime, view their documentation as well, because it also contains some great stuff to get you started with flying ;)

    Hello,
    I am a new user of P3D v3.4.22.19868 with 4790K (+ gtx980Ti), i was trying to tweak with HT (on/off) and AffinityMask, BUT there is no difference for me. P3D is always the same !
    So, do you think that it is always useful with the last version of P3D ?
    Thank you.
    S.

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  7 лет назад +1

      Hi, well, the main difference I noticed myself is that I did not get any stutters. The frames were usually roughly the same, but in some configurations, I would get small microstutters with an interval of 5-10 seconds, with my current settings that's all gone and all flying is smooth. It might be different for your system and you might not experience any benefit at all. It's always wise to make a couple of flights first to see if there is any real difference ;)

  • @AviationGames
    @AviationGames 8 лет назад

    This is awesome, works well for me in the most part, however I have a slight issue.
    Whenever I'm in the VC and looking out straight ahead, it drags my frames right down. If I look at the floor they are at around 80FPS, but when looking out straight ahead as you would for flight, they drop right down to 25FPS. Any ideas?

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  8 лет назад

      Thanks! That's quite normal. As you look outside, the system has to render a much more complicated image compared to when you are looking at the floor. I'm not sure what your specs are, but looking outside in the sim always comes with lower fps compared to looking at something "graphically simple" as a floor. ;)

  • @Izmael1310
    @Izmael1310 8 лет назад

    Use number 14 for quad core cpu's without hyperthreading. (Still many people have quad cores and the most of them have HT off).

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  8 лет назад

      Yes, you can do that, however I need mine to be enabled for other programs.

    • @Izmael1310
      @Izmael1310 8 лет назад

      AviationPro I understand it was not "aimed at you" I know that this fix helps especially in old fsx which tortures core0 with all other "common" software which runs in background :). I wanted to save time with this number to other people which are still using quad core without HT :)
      I know that you switched over P3D. Why do you think that the pmdg aircraft for P3D are rather "much" more expensive than into FSX? Is it because the P3D is aimed for "pros" not for general public? And for example pmdg gives you only one version for one game while aerosoft airbus X gives you p3d/fsx package installer for one price which is plesant. I would like to know your opinion on this. I think that P3D is the future but I counted that I need about 300 - 400 USD to get the most important addons like orbx with pmdg aircraft, airbus, as 2016 and rex. Also I'am little bit worried about the new simulators. Dovetail simulator and rumours about P3Dv4 (64bit) which you would have to buy again if you would like to have it. Thanks for your opinion.

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  8 лет назад

      Yes I know, so I have also included the thing about Hyper Threading in the description. :) Yes, I have never followed PMDG really since I have been using iFly aircraft for the past few years. I guess it's just some kind of policy matter which makes the aircraft more expensive in Prepar3D. Or probably they just see that the future will be in Prepar3D so they can charge a higher price. I'm also a bit worried about the future development. I love Prepar3D, but indeed a switch to 64-bit would require a lot of changes to be made to addons that currently exist in the 32-bit market, and I'm pretty sure they won't do that for free since it will take quite some time. However, as long as I can happily fly with 32-bit, I have no desire to switch to a 64-bit simulator. So far my VRAM levels were good and no OOMs occured! :)

    I would like to discuss the affinity mask a bit further if you don't mind.
    I was having a lot of problems with ground textures when i just started with P3D. Since It happend only flying the Aerosoft A32x serie I stumbled on to this threat on the Aerosoft forum: forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/93049-p3d-blurry-terrain-textures-with-airbus-a319/
    So when I followed the advice of deleting the Jobscheduler section in the CFG file everything was ok, no more blurry textures.
    Now i was asking my self what this would do with my cores and hyperthreats I digged a little deeper in the world of cores and hyperthreating.
    So there are a couple of Flightsim guru's out there that are really know what they are talking about. Rob Ainscough is one of them. He made a topic on the avsim forum asking people to test P3D with hyperthreats disabled. If you disable them you also need to remove the Affinity Mask. See the results over here: ruclips.net/video/3W5CeDlRMaQ/видео.html
    I suggest you dig a little deeper in the Affinity mask world inside of P3D, there is really a whole new world to explore.
    Note: I don't say you are wrong but I just wanted to point out that there are other option as well.
    Cheers

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  8 лет назад

      Yes, I have read those threads as well, but I do not want to disable hyper threading since I am using lots of other CPU intensive programs as well that do really need the hyperthreading. Anyways, for me it runs fine this way, but I'm sure you can play around with hyper threading as well to get a better performance in the sim. Thanks for sharing the link, maybe it helps some people! :)

    I'm currently running P3D on a computer with a GTX 780 and a hexacore processor at 3.5 ghz clocked at 3.9.
    I have set an affinity mask to use 4 of these cores. As well as a few minor tweaks.
    Therefore I don't understand how I, despite playing around with the settings can ever reach over ~13 fps at scenery airports.
    The scary thing is that my FPS doesn't seem to increase by lowering settings, and I notice no difference between the VC in the standard F22 Raptor or my PMDG 737 NGX. Always at 7-13 fps while looking at my scenery.
    Do you know what it might mean and do you have any ideas?

      It is quite well known within the flightsim community that Intel processors work better with Microsoft Flight Simulator and Prepar3D, that could be the first issue. Otherwise, maybe there are too many background processes taking up resources or there is some kind of bottleneck in your system. I'd suggest to do a clean installation of Prepar3D, lower all settings, and work your way from there. And again, play with Tripple buffering, Vertical Sync and the frame rate limiter. Also, try to tweak your Nvidia settings using Nvidia Inspector, because if those settings are too high your video card simply can't handle it.

      Je kunt FSX vliegtuigen niet zomaar in Prepar3D installeren. Daar heb je de Estonia Migration Tool voor nodig. Maar alsnog, het zou kunnen dat de FSX NGX versie niet helemaal werkt in Prepar3D. Er is niet voor niets een Prepar3D versie van de NGX ;)

      Yes, in that case you can fly it manually as well. It's quite fun to do :)

    It's a shame Prepar3D renders all it's graphics on One core...

      On the GPU you mean?

      AviationPro No, the GPU usually only has one core. The processors these days usually have 2 or 4 (up to 64 for insane overkill). 4 cores are the most common for gamers. The problem is that all the graphics rendered by the GPU needs to be processed by the CPU. It's when the CPU or GPU driver cannot render fast or correctly graphical bugs happen. But when it comes to programs such as Prepar3D that run on Dx9, it is programmed to put all the GPU's rendering on one CPU core. Prepar3D has too much graphic to render for most medium or medium to high end CPU's for only one core, which means that the CPU cannot keep up with the demand of the GPU. This results in lag and stuttering. When I play Prepar3D my GPU is on an average of 50% and my CPU 1st core constantly on 100% with an aveage of 35 fps. If it wasn't for my CPU, I could have rendered over 60+ frames easily on my GPU. This problem could be fixed if Prepar3D migrated to Dx11 or later so that the program is optimized to put all the GPU rendering on more than just the one core. But Prepar3D is better than any other plane simulator that can use Vatsim and proper mods.

      Are you sure? Prepar3D is multicore nowadays, it either uses all cores or you can set an affinity mask to only run it on 4 or 3 cores (if you have hyper threading enabled). I think Prepar3D V3 uses DirectX11 actually. Only old simulators like FS2004 or older versions of Prepar3D still use DirectX9.

      AviationPro When ever I launch it it uses dx9, I am not sure if they have added dx11 and if so that they've fixed the problem with the 1 core rendering issue. As far as I know the game uses multiple cores, but only one for rendering. This is my issue on Prepar3D V3.

    You dont really need tweaks in P3D V3, but do what you wanna do...

      That's exactly what I am saying in the video. All I'm doing is adding an affinity mask and lowering some internal Prepar3D settings, that's all ;)
