    Just keep a powerbank in your bag to charge the Godox. Yes, one extra thing to carry, but you may use that to charge your phone and perhaps laptop too.

      Depending on what camera you’re using, you generally want to set the gain somewhat high on the mic receiver, so that your camera is near its minimum gain. And then make sure on the audio meters on the camera that you’re not going into the Red, just the yellow a bit.

    It's actually quite surprising how low the range is in real life. Manufacturers' promises don't seem to mean much in the real world scenarios.

    • @WesPerry

      The 2.4GHz ones almost never pan out for full distance, while the UHF ones do. That being said, I did find the new Smallrig Forevala came the closest of any of the 2.4GHz models to actually functioning at the stated 100m.

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  2 года назад +1

      It might be that mine are nearly a year old now and I've used them a fair amount. Although the biggest issue for wear, I suspect, is that the constant charge cycling in the battery case is prematurely wearing out the batteries. I bought the first generation of Rode Wireless Go's when they first came out (over two years ago now!), and have used them A Lot since then (especially in the first year when there weren't a lot of other options like it), and the battery life on both sets of mine is still great!

    Great review. Synco WAir G1 (A2) is about $150 when it came out the year before this. Would've been nice to have seen a comparison, but that's okay. Others have compared this to the Rode and it compares quite favorably. It's biggest drawback, though, is reliability, since a lot of customers have had complaints, usually regarding its transmission consistency. It does a lot of that cutting out that you got at around 24m with the Godox, except some of them were getting it at less than 10m. Probably quality control but, if you're a professional, that's no consolation to your clients.

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  2 года назад

      I've had a few offers to review the Sync WAir system, but every time they say they're sending me a review copy, it never shows up. So...I'm wondering if they're even real. haha.

    Would the Godox M2 work with the JK MIC-J 044 Lavalier Lapel? Does it provide plugin power?

    • @WesPerry
      @WesPerry  2 года назад +1

      I really can’t say for sure, but I’m not sure why it wouldn’t. Is that actually an active mic that requires more power than a standard lapel?

    • @babylonik
      @babylonik 2 года назад

      @@WesPerry Many lavaliers require a ~2.5v plugin/bias power to work. If you try to connect your lapel to your recorder (I use the H4n and the H8) and try going around the menus, you'll find most provide this plugin power but has to enabled! Just trying to find out if this one does as well. Most reviews don't mention this and stick to the provided mic.

    • @WesPerry

      It comes with two different short cables. One with TRS rings on both ends, one with TRRS rings on One end. The short cable with the extra ring goes into the phone.
