I just ended up getting the tascam dr10l. Its a winner. More expensive to get 2 but the peace of mind you have from how well designed it is and the audio quality you get from the included lav is fantastic. It records internally and has a safety track that records sovyou dont have to worry about clipping. And its battery life is stellar at like 10 straight hours of recording so you can literally just start reording and have the piece of mind that at the end of the day you have some kick ass audio.
The interview was super fun and cute and helpful too! Honestly right off the bat it seems to me that the Deity beats them all, more volume and crispiness and even low end than the others. The most enjoyable sound
Thank you for one of the few videos on RUclips about wireless mics that isn't just a glorified ad. Really, really appreciate the comparisons here. Ultimately I'm probably going to buy the Comica BoomX as they seem to sound roughly the same as the others, but are substantially cheaper where I live.
I was able to get the Comica for around 190 eur, which shouldn't be more than 200$. I've been experimenting for about 24 hours and it seems a great option. That being said, it seems you can't adjust the levels on the transmitter if you're using it as a stand-alone recorder, which negates the advantage of having this option. I would love if someone could correct me on that.
Super useful guide, I was a little iffy about the price of the Rode, so have been looking for an alternative. For my purposes (self shooting low budget short films and documentaries), I often need to record two people, and will be processing and mixing the audio fairly extensively after the fact anyway. The GODOX seems like it will pair extremely well with my Zoom H6, and Audio-Technica AT875R Shotgun for an extremely versatile, and capable budget audio setup. Thanks for making this, I'll definitely be coming back to check out any other buyers guides you have produced!
This is the most thorough comparisons. They all sound clear & good. Just got the Deity and I’m getting a lot of hiss background noise ( connected to iPhone recording directly) or static sound that’s disruptive (connected to macbook recording on zoom or restream for RUclips live. Don’t know what the issue is & what I have to do so it sounds good as yours. Thank you!
Great video... and awesome studio guest you have there :-) Really enjoyed your thorough comparison! And I did buy the Godox mic and used it at a wedding ceremony about a day later. Worked fantastic, especially the internal mic in the transmitter. I put it on the desk of the official (it's actually magnetic and sticks to the side of the lectern/speakers desk). So, this way, you can capture the official and the bride and groom that are sitting about 8-10 feet away. The bride also had a small speech prepare, which was captured loud en clear with this mic. So, no use of lavaliere necessary! Also, very easy plug and play with a Panasonic Lumix 1000 camera. Also, I shared some of your review with sales gguys in the camera shop, who had not heard of the Godox mics and of course only knew the Rode mics. But, now they will also try out the Godox mics themselves. Especially with its pricing! Win Win I would say :-) Keep up the good work! 😊😊👍👍
First of all, I want to congratulate you on your excellent microphone review video. Your insights are always valuable, and I appreciate the effort you put into your content. I was particularly interested in your thoughts on wireless microphone systems, and I was wondering if you had the opportunity to test the 7RYMS DW30. What are your impressions of this wireless microphone system if you've had a chance to try it out? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
You're a great dad! And this is the best wireless mic comparison I've found so far! Keep up the good work and check the Godox Virso M2 it's really good and it has recording to a microSD card in the transmitters, too bad it's only 16 bits WAV recording, but it's better than the proprietary file type in the Rode mics that you have to download using the app and then export that to WAV. Just my two cents 😁
Thank you for this great work. You help dissipating most of the "fog" surrounding these kits. Bravo ! And it seems like, despite price and complexity, Rode still rules the hassle-free HF kits world with their Wireless Go II... and despite efforts from contenders to kick them from the hot seat. Deity did well, but why only a single-channel kit when all they claim on their site and YT is "conveniency" and pro-oriented solutions ? Then, what is this proprietary USB-to-jack cable, what happens of you loose it ? Well, not very "pro" to say the least. Godox did not convince, and will have to take another go at it. Comica managed to rank decently, but their 16/48 format comes too short for professional level recording. Too bad, this kit had some good sides to it !
What a great breakdown video with so many different tests, also you got the best and cutest "two person" test someone could make. hahaha. Thanks a lot for sharing this Benj. I was thinking to get an RODE lav go II but the Godox might be a better option with enough quality to my work work. Thanks a lot it was so so so helpful. I wonder if you ever tried the new DJI wireless mic as well.
DANG, I’m very surprised by the Movelink M2 with its stock lav. Out of all the combinations you demonstrated (THANKS for doing that btw!!!), it was the only one that sounded _actually good_ without any further processing. All others at least need a bunch of EQing to sound decent IMO. I know my way around an EQ because I’ve been making music for much longer than I’ve been doing any video work, but it’s always best to have a good starting point.
The best comparison videos I have seen, may be because of your co producer. Really funny, and by the way, I live about 300 miles east of where your grandparents are from. Many moments I hadn't expected. Best wishes from me.
Best mic review I ever seen... And I seen a lot! The cute interview was a nice touch. Thank you so much! I will go with the Comica, I need the record option. Thanks!
Super wholesome review! I really enjoyed your "Channel 1 Billion 1 Zillion News" segment test. It's a great way to test the product and entertain watchers such as myself :)
Thank you! Thank you so much for making this! My Mic gave out last night and I have a wedding in a week and needed to choose a new wireless system, having only owned zoom mics. I had no idea what to choose and didn't want to waste money on mics i would hate using. This answered every question I had and Helped me make the best choice!
For deity wireless, what are your audio settings? What is general rule of thumb? Do you aim for your high noice level to be on the line they have displayed?
Awesome video! Been using the Rode Wireless go II for weddings for awhile now and love it. Just wish I could change the gain individually. BTW, does the Godox handheld mic thingy works well with all of them?
Anyone have the Comica BoomX-D Pro can record over USB? Or if any of these can record over USB using a PC? I've had a lot of trouble getting decent results using the 3.5mm cable though my PC.
Thanks for the very elaborate testing and examples! We basically only shoot video during the ceremony and service at the church, where the couples are pretty much 'static'. We are looking for a better way to get the audio from as close to them as possible, for example by placing two transmitters on the table in front of them. Can you tell me anything about the quality of the recording when used "off-person" like that?
For wedding ceremonies and speeches, I use either a tacam dr10L lav or Sony tx660 on the groom. If a dj/mixer is available, I also plug into their aux out into my Tascam dr40x as a backup
Thanks for this. I have the comica XD (not the pro version). I got it to improve the audio on the videos I take of my standup sets. I use a camcorder. What I can’t figure out is how to set the audio level. I set up the camera and then head to the stage. I’m just not sure how to set the gain. I can’t check myself. Any idea what would be a good generic setting for those sort of settings where I’m on stage with a mic?
I don’t know if I am biased towards the comica because there was a good recipe going on or if the quality was the reason I listened…lol. No but good review, I think I like the godox better.
rode was kinda flat, godox defo has a deeper bass respone, deity seemed quite rich and comica had the most lattitude in post in my opinion - there wasnt any punched in audio signature with this mic. nice video thank you!
Update* just bought and received the Godox mic, and I must say it’s probably the biggest value for money, in terms of: Audio quality and sound reproduction. Accessories and case and packaging. Style finish and design. Picked up a set for £119 GBP after losing my rode mic go and feel like I made a massive upgrade. Thanks for the video!
Are the Comica and the Rode the only two mics on the list that allow to be plugged in to a computer for zoom conferencing? I’m interested in the Godox cause I don’t need recording, but if they can’t be used in that manner then it’s a huge deal breaker for me.
ـــــــــــــــــــــــ Greetings to you artist I have a question, if you can help me I liked the color and the light used to talk about grandma and grandpa Is it possible to know what settings it was on? I want to have the camera and loot for purchase. Thank you for your guidance
I like the sound of the Godox i have the deity and the rode 1 but i would want the godox because of sound and box plus it charges on the go and two for the price ...hard to beat... the internal recording is nice but not needed for my needs
@@benjhaisch thank u, that will replace the internal mic of wireless transmitter? i don't want to become left and right sounds. i just want the internal wireless mic replaced by external mic (rode videomic).
Thanks for your thorough review. I stopped buying Rode because they don't provide decent cases. Garbage, the word you used, is the right one. Case for wireless mics is not a luxury. I wouldn't even call it an accessory because it's so important. I have the Godox and bought again the Deity. I am very happy with Godox's case as my plan is not to use wired lapel mics anymore. As for the cables, I have several cables and keep them all in a sunglass case. One wireless kit I would add to your list is the Picogear. I think it's the best of them all.
Good day! Tell me please how to record double mono from 2 different transmitter's (lav and internal mic for example). I have a godox movelink m2, and bmpcc 6k g2, but than i turn on mono on receiver, camera record it together(
You sold me on Comica with your story about the record transmitter story about grandma cooking. Does that make sense? The transmitter are individual recorders? Sound comes through the lav mic or built in mic?
My rode Wireless Go 2s constantly peak in the transmitters before it gets to my camera. I am using rodes Lav mics. I have yet to find a fix for it yet. There seems to be no way to turn them down. Only possibility is getting a less sensitive lav. Any thoughts?
It's really strange that Deity is the only manufacturer of these small wireless systems that has locking thread input. What's wrong, the world? Back in the days any professional wireless system used to have it. Has reliable connection gone out of fashion?
Hi May I ask you are they good for a small room interview setup, connecting to a MacBook for Google Meet live streaming? What’s the interface for receiver to connect to a computer? If we have more than 2 people in the conversation any recommendation for more than 2 channel microphone?
Hi, sure. I'm no expert here, but something for a meeting space that would make more sense would be something like the Rodecaster Pro or another mixing board that would allow more microphones if you wanted really clear audio from everyone. The other option would be to use a couple of condenser mics facing in opposite directions to capture it all, but again, I'm not the expert in this setup in particular.
Check me if I am wrong. I kept getting this sense that the comica has less background noise, even if it is quiet. Am I the only one who noticed it or is there some built in noise cancelation? I just bought one for my iphone to do some content and I hope there is some noise canceling.
What wireless option would you recommend if I need to record 6-8 people at once? But I need to be use a wireless with lav mics. Currently using one of those uhf wireless mic for karaoke use but I get those super weird sound when multiple people laugh at the same time. Other than that is better but laughing is a big deal on the show so it causes a horrible sound when that happens
Hi Benj, i wanted to ask you about the signal delay of the Godox Movelink M2 when the receiver is connected to the camera. Did you notice any? In another review they mentioned about a 50 milliseconds delay, wich meant the audio was recorded slightly out of sync.
I was thinking of buying the Godox m2 (price-value) but the thing is that it doesn’t have internal storage and I will be using the wireless microphone to record with my iPhone, could somebody give me some advice if I’m considering buying a wireless microphone?
@@benjhaisch but how do you record the audio if it doesn’t have internal storage? This may sound like a dumb question (I don’t know anything about audio and I’m saying this because in other video I saw that you have to have a camera or a monitor to record the audio)
@@benjhaisch thank you. I’m stupid hahaha. I forgot about the recording app. I’m still thinking about the internal storage and taking the sd out, then plugging on my sd adapter on my computer and edit the iPhone video plus the sd audio file
Your price comparison is inaccurate, both in the thumbnail and the beginning of the video. You're comparing the price of the dual transmitter Rode unit with the single transmitter Deity unit. The price of the single transmitter Rode Wireless GO II package is $199, rather than $299. That makes the price difference between the Rode Wireless GO II and the Deity Pocket Wireless around $30, not $130.
Awesome video and great format. I just ordered the Godox M2, found in for $129. Can’t wait to use it

Hi Benj, i wanted to ask you about the signal delay of the Godox Movelink M2 when the receiver is connected to the camera. Did you notice any? In another review they mentioned about a 50 milliseconds delay, wich meant the audio was recorded slightly out of sync.
50ms being 1 frame at 24/25 frame per sec i don't think you can see something.
I was thinking of buying the Godox m2 (price-value) but the thing is that it doesn’t have internal storage and I will be using the wireless microphone to record with my iPhone, could somebody give me some advice if I’m considering buying a wireless microphone?
I use it into my iPhone all the time. Great little setup for that.
@@benjhaisch but how do you record the audio if it doesn’t have internal storage? This may sound like a dumb question (I don’t know anything about audio and I’m saying this because in other video I saw that you have to have a camera or a monitor to record the audio)
@@katiam.6615 you record into the iPhone by plugging the receiver into it with a cable and the 3.5mm to lightning adapter
@@benjhaisch thank you. I’m stupid hahaha. I forgot about the recording app. I’m still thinking about the internal storage and taking the sd out, then plugging on my sd adapter on my computer and edit the iPhone video plus the sd audio file
Are you just wanting it for audio and not video?
How can you even make this video without including the DJI mic? I'm pretty sure that's a top contender right now
I reached out and they weren’t interested ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Your price comparison is inaccurate, both in the thumbnail and the beginning of the video.
You're comparing the price of the dual transmitter Rode unit with the single transmitter Deity unit.
The price of the single transmitter Rode Wireless GO II package is $199, rather than $299. That makes the price difference between the Rode Wireless GO II and the Deity Pocket Wireless around $30, not $130.
but where can I get a shirt like that?
Haha pretty sure it was just H&M
Great review
