- These are some excerpts from my long-form interview with Scott Putesky. For this video I've clipped some of the discussion about Marilyn Manson, but the full interview covers everything from his childhood to his most current projects and future plans. The full interview can be found at...

One of the only members that I sincerely wish had not left the band. Portrait is the most amazing album ever. Daisy's style of playing was so fucking magical. Such a shame..
Underrated guitarist, Wish we could have another Manson album with Scott.
RIP Scott!! I can't believe it's been 6 years already..
Couldnt agree more. I got into Manson in reverse. First caught wind of the band with Holy Wood when I was in highschool..then went back and bought the rest. Portrait was the last album I got into..and was shocked how different the guitar sounded. It soundedt like a psychedelic warbly surf rock synth tone. Really unique. He was by far their best guitarist. Shame he left. While his sound didn't fit the dry brittle of ACSS, it would have worked perfectly on Mechanical Animals. Underrated guitarist.
Spot on. I always thought as well that he didn't fit for ACSS, but Mechanical Animals really missed him
Manson could have been so much better had Daisy kept on. Nowadays it's just him and a bunch of studio musicians.
Best guitarist MM ever had
@Maria Hilton Then you are looking at looks or something, but playing wise there is no contest - Daisy was the best
Scott was the guitarist that taught me how to fill up negative space between chords creatively with feedback, harmonics, and slides. Man what a artist ❤
It's the second interview of him i watch and it's interesting he remembers all the exact days of any event, which probably means this time was very special and important to him
Great interview man, I al glad that you asked alot of questions that a true fan like mine and yourself would. I would love to hear more of this interview. the first time I ever met Scott was while he was playing with Jack Off Jill, in San Diego. Within twenty minutes of meeting one of my idols "Daisy Berkowitz" I was on a roller coaster with him and Jessicka, just us three. Very fun very young and a great memory for a true fan.
Scotts really cool, I met him a while ago and he played some of Lunchbox and it was awesome, he's also really nice.
Thanks for posting, I respect Scott very much he's a talented badass dude
I love Scott!
RIP, I
Here remembering the greatness of Scott in 2024!
Scott Putesky rocks !!!!!!
What a great interview man..All the shit ever wanted to know like literally almost word for word you asked and said..Frigging fantastic..I'm so happy you said all that shit to him. I was really into that whole thing as a kid and it was absolutely Amazing. I see life in Marilyn Manson green
I've always wanted to know his thoughts on Mechanical Animals.
Re-listen to the interview. He wasn't sure who came up with the -idea- to cover the song. He clearly indicated that he arranged the composition.
where is the rest?
his voice kind of sounds like Garfield
I never thought of that and I fucking love it 😹
@Suntearock In John 5's defense, he was in a position where he was very limited in his contributions. His solo records are amazing and really showcase his technical proficiency and his songwriting ability. On the other hand, Daisy was in the band at the early stages when he was able to have much more control over what he played and what input he had. Both are great guitarists nonetheless. I should mention that Scott is currently planning the first ever Three Ton Gate tour! Hope it all pans out.
i do rap rock and daisy and manson influenced me alot when we use guitars on our songs, and like he says at the end of this interview about playing his guitar the way a synth plays on sweet dreams is exactly what my guitar player does i make a song with pianos and then he plays the guitar the same way. i miss the spooky kids
Dude, how does he remember all these dates? Like "oh yeah, this show on July 4th 1990." I remember where I played shows, but hell if I remember what year any given show was, with the one exception of New Year's 1999 which was special to me.
I mean, he's probably recollected it a number of times.
Daisy era Manson and Jack Off Jill are two of the best bands of the '90s.
Just leaving a shameless piece of myself here ❤
Terrible interviewer...he doesnt let Scott speak, he just starts answering his questions and he is like "yeah, ok yeah" just keeps interrupting
Lmfao funny as ffuck
is he the guy who play the guitar in lunchbox?
YES HE WAS, RIP
Anyone have the full interview. I tried the website but i think its down
Hey im wondering if you still have the full interview? the original link doesn't have it anymore.
I can't decide who's more creative - in my opinion all the MM guitarists were amazing in their own way. I enjoy daisy's style and I really respect and love John's playing, but personally I like Zim Zum the best, I think he had the most dramatic change over the band's style and what he lacks in technical skill compared to John, he makes up in stage presence and songwriting.
@Retrosofer Later on during the interview he mentioned his plans to release a second Spooky Kids cd.
@jillpoo3 Thanks! I'm such a fan of Scott's that I still can't believe I was able to interview him for a solid hour. I don't want to spoil anything yet, but I may have some other fairly well-known musicians on the show in the near future.
hes grown up. hes always kind of looked like a basic person, the stuff when smells like children came out the whole image stuff was kind of forced on him
Yea when spooky kids was around he never wanted to dress gothic or wear makeup or doin anything gay but end of portrait and during Antichrist superstar he definitely got forced to look the part
Great interview! You shud try and get one with Zimmy(my opinion best guitar player out of all of them) and hear his piece of Manson history!
Is this still available somewhere? The audio on the page won't reproduce
Manson was done the moment they kicked Daisy out. Don't reference Mechanical Animals to invalidate my point, that was not a Manson album.
@gundamsondam Link is in the video description.
i cant find the 2. part
@mrcodpwns yes that's him
@Retrosofer dude are you serious?
I don't agree with people who say Manson wouldn't be anything without Scott. I think its quite the opposite. Manson had a vision, and made it come true. Scott was just lucky to be approached by Manson.
Eh, I suspect it was symbiotic... Brian Tutunick claimed that Manson wanted to write a book until he met Scott at a party. On the other hand, Scott and the other Spooky Kids (and Jeordie) are all lacking in common sense and business savvy.
WITHOUT SCOTT MANSON WOULD HAVE BEEN A BAR POET OR LUCKILY A NIN ROADIE...
Lmao. Brian used Scott then dumped him. This pattern recurs with other people too.
Do they mention Jessicka at all?
I dunno about you, but I hated AAC and it made me stop listening to MM for good. The psychedelic goofy style from Portrait was replaced with anthemy rock which was use a massive loss of identity. The band was no fun anymore, and took itself too seriously. But most importantly, Daisy's compositions and style were missing. Too bad he fell into obscurity afterwards...I was really looking for a resurgence with Three Ton Gate but it never happened.
i love portrait of an american family and i think scott is a great guitar player. however he is not very smart and his views are bias. he clearly didn't fit with the collaboration of manson, twiggy, reznor during the conceptualization and recording of antichrist superstar. manson can be a prick, but all great artists high maintenence like that.
Didn't Manson claim that Trent had a soft spot for Scott, though? It may well have been that Trent just got tired of trying to be a mediator between the two of them. I know I would have.
Trent also encouraged everyone to f with Scott. Heck, he did it himself. He purposely smashed one of Scott's prized guitars right in front of him. Trent lost alot of respect in my book after learning that
