Been really enjoying my 3rd playthrough of Pyre this week. Beautiful soundtrack, beautiful art, beautiful story. Favorite game of last year, highly recommend it.
I only just got my switch, so there was a lot of BOTW. Some shiny hunting, Smash 3DS while waiting for the game, and some Tales of games, with finishing Abyss finally.
I *LOVED* this style of reviews. This was fast paced, letting me know what type of experince I'm in for and it left a breadcrumb trail for me to follow if I'm interested in said game. Hopefully we can get more mini reviews annually in the future. Edit: These type of videos would be awesome around the end of November/ early December to help people find games for the holiday seasons!
I just don't love that game like everyone else seems to. One of the main reasons I loved classic RPGS is because of how the characters interacted with each other. For Octopath to pretty much remove that aspect entirely, really just makes me not like the game. I just don't get why they'd make it a party style RPG if your party doesn't interact. In what world would a thief who has no problem stealing from people and a young merchant girl who has a problem with thieves stealing from people be willing to work together? The game doesn't give any reason why a lone wolf thief would choose to work with *any* of these characters. I mean, imagine if Final Fantasy 6 were like that...
Yeah I figured it would be clickbait, though I don't even know her, but I liked the sketchy artstyle. But you guys seem to be familiar? So who is she and where from?
PikaLink91 she’s one of the 8 playable characters from Octopath Traveler. She’s a merchant and fills the role of the “adorable, innocent girl exploring the world” role, and as such has a pretty substantial fan base within the Octopath community
"A couple" doesn't just mean "2", just like how some couples include more than 2 people. If he said "a pair" that might've been different. Learn English.
Guys buy Hollow knight. It deserves more love and attention from the small studio that made an incredible masterpiece. It’s worth more than it’s standard 15$ price
We've gotten tons of free DLCs and the world is HUGE! SO many boss battles. Best sense of atmosphere I've ever seen/heard. I love this game so much. I must have about 70 hours in it.
I need to get back into Octopath traveler, I stopped because I got my copy of Xenoblade chronicles 2 back from a friend and my addiction flared up again - _- (The New story Dlc coming out on Friday is soooooo not helping)
I finished XC2 and moved on to Octopath, hoping to finish it before the Torna DLC. I'm 60 hours into Octopath, done half the chapter 3s. So I'm MOST of the way through, but still got about a month left, at my current rate. Aaargh
Welcome back JWittz! It is good to see you are back. I'm looking forward to the future of the channel, and I love what you do. I have been your videos for I don't know how long, and you never let never down.
But uh- they do interact with one another in their individual stories in Octopath, each chapter every person has something to say to the main character of that chapter with what is called travel banter which is accessed at specific moments using the + button!
true, but other than fighting together and a minute or so long travel banter, there's very little octopath does in stitching stories together. they never curl up at a tavern with a drink or two while they plan their next travels with a map like the official art does, and a lot of the connections made in the ending (no spoil, but a specific man who appears in tressa and alf's finales, and a mystical place that all of the fourth chapters touch upon) and? it feels kind of cheap knowing that a lot of the lore has happened offscreen and we only get to read about it. there is an argument that it is about a character's own arc - therion learning how to fix his broken heart, primrose's revenge as she strikes down the men of the crow (i'll give prim's story the fact that it's the first time i've cried at a video game in years - therion is a close second on the story but i bawled at the end of primrose and therion was more of a catharsis for... personal things that make me digress) and other characters interfering could ruin their personal developments, but i think if we had more than a snappy, "haha funney" talk it would impact that story - what if ophilia and alfyn were watching over primrose when she went into a coma in chapter three because the local healers aren't letting anyone die on their watch, or if therion put two and two together about the dungeon in cyrus' chapter four, since he's seen it already with the dragonstones? some of the things that the travelers do, especially in the finales, come off as a "you've got to be kidding me" when there's the special lore that keeps recurring - like in the latter, there's something in therion chapter four that makes a plot point in cyrus chapter four less suspenseful since they already explained it to me. wasn't cyrus in my party, when, y'know, the ravuses released therion? did cyrus just get amnesia? there's a lot more to be desired than the travel banter. i love this game to bits, i've spent nearly 200 hours since buying it in july, but octopath is very standalone compared to how it was hyped up in the trailers, even if they have back-and-forths in their chapters sometimes.
Quality video of quality reviews of quality games. Hollow Knight is probably my favorite recent game I've played too I'd recommend Rakuen as an obscure but amazingly good story-heavy game (just check the steam store for trailer) My other recommendation for anyone who wants Pokemon content is the fangame Pokemon Reborn. so good.
The "Pretentious" bits of furi are there to cool you off after beating a boss. The fact that you went to the bathroom during them is fine, a break's a break
I recommend everyone pick up Florence just for the music, if anything Kevin Penkin (I believe I spelled that right) is a composing genius and I love his stuff.
_Iconoclast_ is a game I really enjoyed from start to finish, but haven't heard much of from other people. Glad that you enjoyed it too, haha! And thanks for sharing all of this!
"It's a completely legitimate gaming platform!! For Persona 4: Golden... and not much else..." Haha, I did get a bit of a chuckle out of that one! Even if: Very unpopular opinion: I prefer the Vita to the 3DS, and actually have around 30-50 games for it if not more, and used it at this point probably more than I ever have the 3DS and perhaps even the DS and Gameboy combined! (Then again, not too hard as personally mostly ever owned Nintendo handhelds through the years for 90% of the time because of Pokemon. ) Even now when I've began branching out and trying new games, the library for my 3DS, DS and Gameboy combined, is nowhere near my current library for the Vita. Great video though, JWittz! Happy to see more content from you! Missed ya! :D
This is the funniest thing, I was literally watching your videos yesterday and was like: “Hmmmm, I wonder when Jwittz is going to post a new video?” And low and behold, a new video emerges.
A new human muscle impulse was discovered: "TheJwitts tap", humans flinch when holding something hot, they also immediately tap a Jwittz video if it has been awhile
I went with a couple friends to VR World in New York last month, and Beat Saber was our unanimous favorite. I'm actually really surprised it doesn't have a Switch port? It seems like such a perfect motion-control setup to go with the joycons.
Over this summer I played a whole lotta games. I played the Fire Emblem games that I hadn't yet. I finally played a Dragon Quest game and by that I mean four of them. I also finally played BOTW and was not disappointed. I recently got kicked out of my house, so I can thank Square Enix for making Octopath portable. I'm playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 now. Excited for Smash. Disappointed with Spyro delay.
I really enjoyed this. I liked the short, but personal looks at what you've been enjoying. Maybe you could do this monthly, or quarterly. Or even to recap movies and series you've been watching
Great Video, woulda also love to get an update on what Tabletop games you've been enjoying... For me It's been Root, The Mind, Don't Mess With Cthulu, and Altiplano with an occasional case of Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective here and there.
Josh...I will always have time for your videos! You were the first youtuber I really got into and I've never looked back. I dig these mini series as there are SO MANY indie titles out there and it can be hard to tell what will be a good time or not
One game that just came out and is amazing is The Messenger. It starts out as a linear Ninja Gaiden-like game with occasional secrets, and eventually becomes more of a Metroidvania that has you exploring previous areas to find new abilities on an interconnected map. The gameplay is fast, fun, and satisfying. The difficulty is fair, even if some of the bosses are a bit too easy. Overall, it's quite a good game just for that, but the dialogue is some of the best I've seen in any game, and the game is almost worth getting just for that. It's currently 15% off on Switch if you want to check it out, and I highly recommend it.
I loved long live the queen! I managed to get through the whole thing without learning any lumen abilities. It took MANY MANY deaths to figure out how to do that, but I am proud of it.
Dude it's great to see a new vid from you hopefully you upload allot more regularly, seriously its been *TOO LONG* p.s. R.I.P Terrarium TV you will be missed
I know graphics aren't everything, but I have to say that Subnautica is one of the most gorgeous games I have ever played. It easily found it's way into my list of all-time favorite games, and I can't wait to see what the Arctic DLC for it will be like next year.
I recently have been playing WarioWare Gold, Shantae: Half Genie Hero, Need for Speed: Payback (for a while, now, actually), and I've been meaning to make a start on the Megaman Legacy Collection.
I’ve been playing FTL since 2013 off and on and finally this summer beat it (on easy) and a few days later again! That was so exciting. I got the strat down!

I was hoping to hear more about Octopath, but glad to hear your opinions on it at all. I really hope they decide to make a physical version of A Hat in Time with the DLC! That would be perfect timing with the recent Switch news.
Divinity 2 is freaking amazing! As of this writing, i've got about 160 hours into it in the past 2-3 weeks and i'm on my 2nd play through and i'm planning a 3rd one, which is unusual for me. I typically play through a game's story once and consider it done but i love this game so much, i just keep coming up with different builds i want to try and then i haven't even dipped into the game master mode yet! BEST GAME EVER!
What games have you guys been enjoying lately? It's been fun playing great games I missed out on over the last few years.
Octopath Traveler and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for me :)

Loved Pyre! The infinitely branching story endings and basketball-style gameplay gripped me

Perfect way to break the writer's blocks. Unrestrained passion
That sounds like something a video game would say...
Seeing tressa on the thumbnail made me very happy

Octopath traveler is amazing! Would be my goty if not for dq11 being amazingly amazing

To be fair DQ11 won’t release on Switch anytime soon so I won’t include it in my games of the year
I see Tressa in the thumbnail

better way of doing this comment:
I am a simple man. I see Tressa in the thumbnail, I click.
JWittz is back
5:57 Uh, JWittz, “a couple days” is 48 hours. I think that’s LITERALLY impossible.
I was thinking the same thing XD
no that means he stayed up for 24 hours everyday
A couple could mean three days as well, which is about 17 hours played a day and that's hard but doable.
"A couple" doesn't just mean "2", just like how some couples include more than 2 people. If he said "a pair" that might've been different. Learn English.
