The more I listen to Angels and Airwaves, the more I like them. They are complicated. That's not that common amongst alternative bands. Love these guys. They're different, and genuine.
This has to be the best I’ve ever heard Tom sing including with blink-182 and I loved his high pitched voice prior to 2003 damn his deep voice is brilliant too though
I think the thing with Tom is, his voice is incredibly unique and one that works VERY well with autotune. Since enema of the state tom's used autotune, and that's what we're so used to. His voice is very robotic due to his nasally way of singing, and the effects he uses on his voice totally complement it. I feel like that's why it's so painful to hear him suck live, but it's also super exciting to hear him kill it live. He possesses a sound we all crave.
I think he often uses a Chorus or a Flanger effect in combination with a bit of reverb...that's propably what most people say is autotune, although most people don't know autotune can't be used live...
drklenk Actually, autotune can be used live, and it is used in a lot of pop acts today. I agree with you on saying that Tom does not use it live, but what most people don't realize is that there are always effects on the vocals in major live productions
its a characteristic punk thing to slur lyrics. Tom sort of brought it more main stream and into rock and punk pop. Billie Joe Armstrong does it as well, Tim Armstrong of Rancid isn't even understandable with the way he slurs lyrics.
To all the people saying he's not using auto-tune, you're wrong - he is. Auto-tune is a real-time pitch correction plugin and it is quite obvious it's being applied to the vocals during the chorus. Doesn't make the song any less awesome though.
Brent D so I've actually only recently noticed this but on every live video I watch of a band or singer that I like, there, without fail, are people below saying how shitty whomever is singing sounds.
I found out about Angels and Airwaves, and they turned me on to Blink. I think its awesome that Tom is so into his music, and puts his heart and soul into it. Its something lacking in today's music.
Just fantastic! Honestly, there might be something helping his voice a little here, but any signs of auto tune or what not don't sound too heavy, if any! He really is putting in a lot of effort here. Maybe he didn't drink before this show, that's my theory.
Super old video, but for those who come across this, Tom did not suddenly start to sound like shit in 2007. Tom didn't just naturally sing like he did on albums dating back to the first Blink songs in the mid 90's. I'm not talking about effects or polishing done when recording, he specifically tries to sing a certain way if he likes it. Obviously he liked the nasally thing for many years, but that is likely very taxing on his body, so often in live performances even in like 1996 you would hear something similar to how he's sounded live in more recent years. The difference after the initial Blink 182 breakup is that more often than previously he would purposefully slur his words and do other stupid shit with his voice. Surely his noted anxiety when performing as he got older and drinking alcohol doesn't help the situation either.
TheLast1100 that and blink had played stuff that was higher than his natural register and they wouldn’t tune down live and Tom over time started to say like crap. With AvA I feel like their a complete band and actually helped Tom become a better singer, unfortunately a lot of Blink fans don’t like Toms voice since it’s not him slurring his words and whatnot.
I think of this song as something that I could spread Autism Awareness across here, as of having Autism myself. I listen to the lyrics and the chorus mostly and think that I can feel anger inside me, and let it out, then spread the awareness around like fire, and then many people soon learn to understand about Autism and then they take it on and they repeat the same process as I would have gone through. The verses make me think of how I feel if Autism Awareness was more understandable for different people and love each other for everyone that would like to understand about what Autism is. Even for those people with Mental Health Issues and everything else too. Then again, that is my only my interpretation on the song.
***** He really sounded great at the 2007-2008 gigs. I think he got his A game back in 2012. As long as he's sober he usually sounds great. Can't wait for their next tour!
+Noah Sherman In this performance there are no "modifications" and I'm pretty sure it's not post-performance edited either, these kinda things is easy to spot if youre into audio ;) He just sounds very good when he gets to sing in a lower key :)
+Sloshy Definitely some post-production on the videos of this performance, guitar center does post-production with all of their live videos. Slight pitch correction is apparent to me.
there's obviously pitch correction, but you can tell by looking at their performance of The War having the same correction and sounding horrible, he was singing really well without the guitar
He is autotuned and I dont think thats bad... I thinkg using autotune in RNB is bad but in rock i think is good and in this case I can enjoy the music :D But nowadays(2013) Tom took classes(SAY WHAT?!?!) and he is singing alot better. Its true :)
For certain bands like AVA, I feel fine about him using autotune. The heavy use of effects etc are what that band is all about. I wouldn't be ok with him doing it with Blink though. The point of Blink is to be raw and shit essentially
I'm pretty sure that there is no autotune here. He has an amazing and unique natural voice. I agree that in some of his songs in AvA have had some effects on them especially in Young London. Autotune and effects are noticeable. That's the thing with AvA and Blink, you don't know what you're gonna get at their concerts. Tom may be on par or he may not. Either way it will be good. Did you notice how in this video he didn't have weird twitches like he usually does when he isn't at the top of his game? He is very nervous around large crowds and often drinks a lot before concerts, hence the slurring of words and whatnot. He didn't drink here and on their shows with Blink when he's sober, they're amazing.
ThisMankind I don't think so. He naturally has a great voice. I am a Blink-182 and Tom Delonge supefan and have seen so many live performances and interviews. I just think this is a great performance with no alcohol and lots of practice. He sings much much better without a guitar, just go watch some live AVA stuff and you can tell. I know that there is no autotune with the live version of The War especially. It sounds just like his normal voice. I have had other people's opinion on this as well and they agree with me.
THEjimboTV Toms an average singer. He has on and off days. Not saying he can't sing - I mean the first two albums Blink released don't use any autotune and they sound fine. But this performance uses pitch correction. Sorry I guess? But it I can tell you as fact that it does
listen from about 3:20, listen to the "higher" (basically all the higher notes) and say that again ;) ...he just doesn't sound like shit in this performance, that's all and yes, that is a little hard to believe ;)
The more I listen to Angels and Airwaves, the more I like them. They are complicated. That's not that common amongst alternative bands. Love these guys.
They're different, and genuine.
Mark ONeill this band has changed my life and made me look at music in a different way a truly heartfelt project from Tom that he made successful
Same I love this band so much it speaks to me with every single little sound that tom adds it's crazy I can't explain the feelings
They are amazing
@@Mexfinity Love part 2 is amazing though
exactly what i’m feeling rn too
it’s so unique, versatile
pure art
This is probably Tom's greatest live performance yet. He gives his heart out to this crowd. He is legend. Blink-182 and Angels & Airwaves for life!
Agreed.
if only...
And box car racer
This has to be the best I’ve ever heard Tom sing including with blink-182 and I loved his high pitched voice prior to 2003 damn his deep voice is brilliant too though
Agree
His voice defiantly isn't perfect, but something about it just makes me want to listen to it over and over again; I love it so much!
his voice is so underrated. Tom delonge has such a beautiful unique tone!
- There's only a couple songs that can give you goose bumps like this...
This is an insanely good performance!
...totally WICKED!
This drummer totally kicks ass! Wow!
Atom looks really into it. Its a great song to drum.
I miss when he did it along with just massive reverb and shit on his voice in 2006 with AvA. I feel like that really suited him as well.
Eric Fisher Yeah! Listen to the Live Songs on Start the Machine! The Gift and the Adventure are awesome! Better than the studio versions!
I think he often uses a Chorus or a Flanger effect in combination with a bit of reverb...that's propably what most people say is autotune, although most people don't know autotune can't be used live...
drklenk yeah it can. look up somewhere in neverland all time low walmart soundcheck. the singer is being live autotuned. its possible.
drklenk Actually, autotune can be used live, and it is used in a lot of pop acts today. I agree with you on saying that Tom does not use it live, but what most people don't realize is that there are always effects on the vocals in major live productions
Still inspired in Sept 2024! Love ilan, but there’s was undeniable magic with Atom on drums!!
This performance is amazing...simply wow
The ending is Amazing. The hole performance is Amazing. But just the ending is special. AVA. My favorite band. And will allwaves be.
I still think this is one of the best performances of secret crowds they’ve ever done
This could easily be a Boxcaracer song..love this sound!
Nah. Maybe the into/bridge guitar riff. But everything else is too polished for Boxcar imo
+This Mankind sure that intro is amazing
+This Mankind I have to agree box car racer has a more thrashy rough sound to it.
Tom Delonge is my Hero!!!!!
finally someone that understands me
Idol too
man I miss Atom Willard...
me too 😁
+Kenny Wilson i miss the whole band...
I miss him in The Offspring too. He's fun to watch play drums.
+Alex G Me too haha. Matt Watcher and David Kennedy are beasts.
you dont have to. just listen to "Against Me!" ^^"
Tom actually sing well !!! AWESOME !!
Been watching this video since 2009... im now 23 years old and its still the best thing ever! See you in NYC next month tom!!
Tom your voice sounds more amazing than ever
love the church bell
I fucking love them and I dont care
This is my favourite ever performance of secret crowds
Wow, his voice is amazing at this concert.
The people in the crowd seem so happy to be there and seeing this in person.
He all of a sudden got better at singing live! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay :D
Well written Masterpiece 🙏🏻🤘🏻👌🏻
This song gives me goosebumps every time.
My favourite song of all time! I want to see angels and airwaves live so much!
I really love Tom's voice when he's not drunk and can sing in tune!
its a characteristic punk thing to slur lyrics. Tom sort of brought it more main stream and into rock and punk pop. Billie Joe Armstrong does it as well, Tim Armstrong of Rancid isn't even understandable with the way he slurs lyrics.
AVA is one of the most truly inspiring band on the current music industry, that's what i believe in them.
Atom Willard kicks ass..!!
00:41 when Atom hits those drums and that guitar riff rings out.. you feel weightless
Those moves ..
I know..... ._.
Haha
He's so lost without his guitar, haha
+AmmDjp exactly
One of my favourite Angles and Airwaves songs
Gladly Matt and David are back.
Beautiful. Just beautiful...
This show may have been the best live AVA vocals Tom has ever done.
autotuned bro
DopeBoi definitely not
@@cnorris_182 no disrespect, I'm a huge fan of delonge as well. But u gotta admit this version has few pitch corrections. 2:13 as an example.
@@cnorris_182 he didn't have the pitch correction in the actual show, but this channel did few pitch corrections I could say.
Still good performance tho
Anyone still watching in 2024?
Me
Absolutely
🤘
Of course
this performance is the closest extraterrestrial encounter i’ve felt, masterful
To all the people saying he's not using auto-tune, you're wrong - he is. Auto-tune is a real-time pitch correction plugin and it is quite obvious it's being applied to the vocals during the chorus. Doesn't make the song any less awesome though.
Tom is fucking king holy shit he sounds way better than new blink 182
the video is pretty old, this was way back when his voice wasnt f ed up.
+Michael Margono ah ok
the new blink can suck it
.m. you can suck it. i love tom but new blink is also good
Michael Margono fuck you then
I love that its a DRUM off, at GUITAR center, and toms singing is stealing all my attention
Great performance but Tom needs a guitar in his hands.
+bgcheese The WoRd In DesaYyoiR the majjjoRR THE WARRIORR THE LYON,tHE CRYOOOR! con R al Final! RRrecuerdelo
Fuck no :D I love the way he moves .
Tom is really unique on the guitar he always has some unexpected new idea
I feel the same when Claudio from Coheed doesn't have a guitar! It's weird! 😂😂
To sing worst
I love Tom! Everything about him is just amazing! His singing, his style, just everything.
3:06 nazist tom xD
"I'd built you an empire
From here to the Farlands"
Hitler oder DeLonge ? hahahaha
hahahaha
killer dance moves.
2:46 I like how Tom helps correct Matt with the tempo
This is Art, This is Passion, This is Truth.
oooh, my ear is better right now!
probably the best recorded live perfomance tom has ever done
this is sooooo good
People shit on Tom's live singing way too much. I think it's great, and this is amazing.
Brent D so I've actually only recently noticed this but on every live video I watch of a band or singer that I like, there, without fail, are people below saying how shitty whomever is singing sounds.

I am in LOVE with Tom. This band is amazing. Blink 182 will never mean as much. I prefer Angels And Airwaves. So much inspiration.
nobody else was going to say it.
Me too :) He seems like a sweetheart.
Angels & Airwaves have changed my life.
Just fantastic! Honestly, there might be something helping his voice a little here, but any signs of auto tune or what not don't sound too heavy, if any! He really is putting in a lot of effort here. Maybe he didn't drink before this show, that's my theory.
Quality is great, thanks Guitar Center :)
too bad they dont play these songs like this more often, in a lower key. Tom sounds great when he sings in a key he can manage ☺
+Max Kull-Sandin agreed, may as well drop the key to make it easier on himself
This is so beautiful-3 I dont care if he sounds different live, Tom has an amazing voice either way. I love him to death-3
Super old video, but for those who come across this, Tom did not suddenly start to sound like shit in 2007. Tom doesn't sound like cat shit in this..... wow
Even as a pretty avid AVA fan I have to agree. Usually his live sound leaves a lot to be desired but here it's half-decent.
Good job, Tom.

Miss this voice
tom doesn't sound like shit in this performance lol
Yeah
Because that was 2007. I wish he could sing as good as that show.
Tom sounded like shit in 07' too. This is autotuned to hell.
I never understand these comments. Do you guys even know what autotuning is? XD
there's obviously pitch correction, but you can tell by looking at their performance of The War having the same correction and sounding horrible, he was singing really well without the guitar
In love with all these Live versions
my favorite part was from 0:00 to 5:14
This is making me hopeful for September and 2022 too they’re great live
2:13 "gather" sounds like the pitch correction snapped to the wrong note, guys
tom is great best thing that happen to music tom u rock
The chorus sounds almost like Always.
Lot that song!
Theres a lot going on in this performance and i love all of it
Being a teenager is a long batchleret party before the weight of the world lands on you.
Epic performance.
That's a lot better than California ! Rock n roll, not pop music like the new blink
Perfect singing
*amazing performance...dead crowd*
Best live performance of this song HANDS DOWN
i wonder what tom thinks about matt and atom working together lmao
What are matt and atom doing together?
Jacob Craddock side project called TheHell
Great great song from an awesome band

This video deserves so many more views! Absolutely love this song! 🤘❤️
2024 anyone?
Love this song
he looks so awkward without a guitar
Not as awkward as Blink without Tom.
He's like ricky Bobby from Talladega nights, "I don't know what to do with my hands"
How can you make it all so easy and out of the box .. your ideas are making people feel free
God bless autotune.
listen from about 3:20, listen to the "higher" (basically all the higher notes) and say that again ;) ...he just doesn't sound like shit in this performance, that's all and yes, that is a little hard to believe ;)
i'm getting addicted to this video, it's perfect.
i love this video quality guitar center is the bomb
this is an awesome version.........cant wait for them to go on tour this summer
Sick!! It's about time they have an awesome performance of theirs posted on youtube.
