I love how Tom acts as if he's on some kind of hallucinagenic when he plays live with AVA but he's a total comedian on stage with Mark when he plays with Blink.
Tom can actually sing when he tries...When he sings 'alone' at about 29 seconds it sends a shiver down my spine for some reason... !

As someone in the recording industry I can say with 100% certainty that this recording, and all of the Guitar Center and the Red Bull performances for that matter, have TONS of post-production. What that means is that while this is a live performance it was recorded using Pro-tools and then the audio was edited and then synced together with the video. This is how all big budget live performances work. Angels and Airwaves, like most other pop/rock bands, definitely plays to a click track because they use backing tracks for the auxiliary parts such as keys and pianos and string parts and all the other ambient sounds you hear. Because they played to a click it makes the post-pro editing in a Pro-tools session extremely easy and effective. I am sure they added compression, reverb, delay, and remixed all the tracks. They also without a doubt used Melodyne to tune Tom's vocals. This is different than Auto-tune because it allows the producer to tune certain notes and fix parts of the overall performance while leaving the natural inflections in place. Welcome to the 21st century music business.

+Christopher Morrison If they use a click track then they obviously don't play that well along with it. I hear so many tempo fluctuations (not necessarily in this performance but in many others i have seen they do). maybe they do just for big name productions like this.

I don't think people realise that playing guitar, especially energetically on stage takes your breathe away. To sing whilst out of breathe is a bit hard, try running and talking at the same time for an hour and see for yourself.

This is their best live video I've seen! I think that Tom should always sing the song just that way! It was very much different than the album track but it was not too much different & he wasn't trying to get into his falsetto too much which somtimes makes his voice go out. He found his niche on this live version! Hells yeah!

In a way, I'm glad that Tom left Blink. He clearly wasn't enjoying it near the end, but you can tell how much more he cares about AVA, he actually tries to sing and put on a good performance, so I'm so glad that he's still doing what he loves. As long as he's happy, no one can moan about it.
