I've actually started an Instagram series (that_highroller) covering the story of how mine came to be, but overall I knew the risks, as most of my purchases have always been risky, in the case of this one clearly being cared for by amateurs made all of those risks far worse. Turned out fine since its not a waste to turn it into something new, but still
We once had a neighbor who owned a Silver Shadow. Every time he wanted to drive it he had to have his wife follow in their daily driver because he would break down 95% of the time. Cured my RR fever for good!
Of course, there is nothing more nerve-wrecking than a badly maintained (trashy) Silver Shadow, so I agree with you in this point. I drive a Shadow since 2012 - and never had problems with the rat trap (no leaks, no brake problems etc), just to mention your example. The three "failures to proceed" in those twelve years were caused entirely by my own faults ( bad soldering / old petrol / not on starter solenoid not fastened properly) .- that's it. I am sorry to say that the Shadow (at least) is not constructed to be converted into a Rallye car.

Good piece of advice. You probably thought you’d be as lucky as Harry Metcalf 😂

Haha I bet. Its amazing that they had an enduring reputation despite these cars really
I wish I watched this before I brought one last week😂

Haha, I won't be using it as an actual rally car, only inspired by the Jules Corniche which ran in the Dakar Rally in 1981
That is so interesting thankyou.
I told you so 🤣
Yeah yeah, none of this is new to you xD Still love the High Roller, just not a standard Rolls (like you wanted it to be)
I feel bad for that car. A true masochist‘s project.
Was either this or a scrap yard, way beyond being worth a restoration. Plus this way it becomes a year round car
