The fan made ones are good, but all the ones I’ve found said that they might not be complete because they weren’t sure if the found all the lore clips. Also it’d be rad if MatPat made a film theory about the lore.
Thank you for mentioning vietnam's formerly matriarchal society! Also, if you ask someone to tell the story 99% it goes - her husband died, then the sister's died by riding their battle elephants into a river :). They were literally my childhood icons. You can find a statue of them in Ha Noi
Hey guys, I know a lot of people have said this, but the sponsorship is v shady and looking to be a scam. Also buying their product won't jet you to unseen heights of fancies...as a Scot, just wanna say that none of those "Buy Land to Become a Lady/Lord" things are legit, because I know it's not just Established Titles offering them. They're not recognised by our law or by our government (the only ones who can actually grant those titles aside from inheriting/being married into them) so it's basically paying for a certificate and title that means nothing. Still love the show though!
@@Princessbuttercupish The scam is actually worse than that. The "land" they sell you can't be sold due to local ordinances preventing the selling of such small plot so that part is just 100% fake. However it get even worse when you look at the conservation aspect they try to push. Yes some money is donated to an actual charity but most is just harvested by this scummy middle man. Your better off donating directly to the charity and printing whatever fake certificate you want. I own 50% of the moon.
Yeah. We already call folks who own and rent spaces "landlords" anyway; the only status involved is being wealthy. Nobody mistakes _that_ for nobility. And the whole "you can legally change your name to Laird Whatever" thing has nothing to do with buying a souvenir plot. For someone in the US where titles aren't a thing, it's just changing your name! It's like if I said "everyone who gives me $20 is legally allowed to apply for student loans."
Damnit, I’ve seen other RUclipsrs promoting them as well. The actually important thing though, is the claims of planting trees and stuff. If they’re not doing that then i would say it really is a scam.
I think Ryan knows this is not the Professor. He's been testing him this whole episode and the mimic is failing these tests. TWO mentions of lazy rivers and Profaker didn't react. Mystery voice sure did tho.
They're on SoundCloud! (No season 5 yet, unfortunately, but hopefully soon!) As a side note: The only one on Spotify is Hatshepsut, and it has to be intentional that they put that one there so that people would remember her. It warms my heart so much!
The light in the tiger puppet's eyes is really amazing. Also, I can't decide if I think it would be funnier if The Professor wants Ryan thoroughly moist for stealing Ryan's body, or to prepare for him turning Ryan into a puppet as well.
on the first ep of this season someone said that the lotion is meant to prepare Ryan to be eaten... and I think in this episode the talk about using the lotion liberally and hitting up the gym to beef up fully proves that the Professor intends to somehow feed Ryan to a dinosaur!!! this is such a complex story and i am so so so invested lol
Atm, it feels like the Holler-Professor needs a body to inhabit and, y'know, Ryan has a body, so... there's a reason the Holler-Prof wants Ryan to take good care of that bod.
Counterpoint: the professor said he was about human sized when he popped out of the egg, or at least bigger than his usual size, so HE intends to eat ryan
I mean, after spending so much time with his guardian demon lord constantly boring him with tales of his exploits disguised as history lessons, eventually you pick it up just through osmosis.
Can we talk about how Garrett is slowing seeping deeper into the watcher universe. I think it’d be iconic to have him host/cohost a show (like pretty historic or worth a shot)

I love learning about how awesome women were in Vietnamese history. So many cultures have just one or two women who were badasses in battle, and seeing that there were dozens of women fighting in this one war is wonderful
One of the reasons the Viets resisted assimilation by China so strongly was that the low status of women in Chinese culture horrified them. Vietnamese women enjoyed much more freedom and power.

I feel so spoiled, getting weekly Puppet History episodes! Sending out my gratitude to Shane, Ryan, and the amazing team at watcher, for making this educational, whimsical, wonderful show !
If the new segment sticks around, I’m really excited for it to be applied to relatively non violent stories. “ROLL TO FIGHT MARIE CURIE AND ALBERT EINSTEIN!”
The end credit scenes are certainly re-enactments of Shane’s fever dreams also I have two theories: 1. That lotion is poison and Ryan is slowly being poisoned to death. 2. The Professor being descended from dragons or dinosaurs is probably that or Ryan is descended from dragons and he’s gonna realize his heritage saving the whole show with his powers.
I'm thinking that the puppet cream will either turn Ryan into a puppet himself or allow the "Holler-Puppet" Professor to possess his body (which is why he wants Ryan's body in good shape.)
well it’s a theory that the concept of dragons came from ancient peoples finding dinosaur bones lying around and being like “wtf is with these giant dead lizards”, so if the professor is descended from dinosaurs ig you could say he’s descended from dragons
I’ve never contemplated fighting a hologram before, but I’m ready to throw down with the imposter immediately. Also, Maya was a perfect guest and the Garrett/Joyce combination is hilarious! Not sure about egg-Professor’s chunky brows though!
It’s so great of Shane to mention the matriarch society point! People were literally talking about point last month. And yes the Dragon father Fairy mother thing is our origin story, y’all just haters n wishes u can be this cool lmao 😂 Fun little tidbit not mentioned: The tribes back then rode ELEPHANTS into battle, so naturally, Hai Bà Trưng went in with an army of elephants. I’d actually drop dead on the spot if someone hates me enough to charge at me on elephant backs.

To answer the question of what they did before paper, they carved shit on stone and bones baby! In China, they also used bamboo and wooden slips. So they basically tied together lines of thin, long strip of bamboo or wood and wrote on those. Some manuscripts were also done on silk, but it was expensive so they didn't do it often. It's fascinating! China has one of the oldest recorded languages (iirc). I recommend the book "the Silk Road: a New History" by Valerie Hansen. It's where I learned about the things they used before paper and it's an amazing book about China and the silk road. I highly recommend!!! edit: I do want to add that oral tradition is also very important and very cool too. I know oral traditions are an invaluable part of indigenous cultures and communities in the U.S. I am a huge proponent of oral history and it is still v important
Dig the comment! I believe the earliest known piece of Chinese writing is some script on animal bones or turtle shell used for divination from the Late Shang Dynasty (1250-1200 BCE). What is interesting is that there seems to be a degree of simplification, implying that the script had already experienced development prior.
@@robertborland5083 yes! oracle bones are the oldest Chinese writing we have. it's crazy because a lot of ancient Chinese writing is so similar to modern Chinese that it's super easy to read and understand. That's why they have like the longest recorded history out of most other cultures. I'm getting my masters in history and I took this "China and the world" class a couple semesters ago. The class was awesome and we read a lot of great books that really changed my perspective on historiography. And I feel like I understand like current politics better because of it. It also helped that my professor was a gay man who was born in and lived through communist china and came to the states in like the 80s. He lived an incredible life and is an amazing scholar. I was very lucky to have him as a professor.
And they used lots of clay in Mesopotamia etc, where Cuneiform (the oldest form of written language!) was thought to have been invented. Lots of clay cuneiform still exists. Palm leaves were very popular for religious texts in parts of Asia too.
The puppets were really good since the beginning but it’s really cool to see how Shane’s skill and effort evolved and how elaborate the puppets have become. Yeah, apparently you cannot put "lord" or "lady" on your credit card.

it's complete crap, you can't be declared a lord because you own some land and they don't actually plant that many trees.
The Click came out with it, they are a scam company :/
I am obsessed with whatever is going on in this silly little puppet show
I really hope that they make an official lore compilation including the moments during the episodes when the professor zones out or let’s something slip. The fan made ones are good, but all the ones I’ve found said that they might not be complete because they weren’t sure if the found all the lore clips. Also it’d be rad if MatPat made a film theory about the lore.
I'd like to see matpat cover it lol
Still love the show though!
wait you mean the thousands of people buying those things wouldn't be treated as a Lady or Lord, what a shock lol

I love learning about how awesome women were in Vietnamese history. So many cultures have just one or two women who were badasses in battle, and seeing that there were dozens of women fighting in this one war is wonderful

The end credit scenes are certainly re-enactments of Shane’s fever dreams also I have two theories:
@@pompe221 that’s a good point! I didn’t hear that part about wanting him in good shape. Makes sense it’d be possession.

Papyrus was used in the Middle East and Europe for a while before paper made its way there, they didn't just carve things into stone
And they used lots of clay in Mesopotamia etc, where Cuneiform (the oldest form of written language!) was thought to have been invented. Lots of clay cuneiform still exists. Palm leaves were very popular for religious texts in parts of Asia too.
As a Vietnamese, this is such a delight to see the story of Hai Bà Trưng being potrayed in this concept
At this point we need a Watcher cinematic universe
I heard that Henry Cavill left "The Witcher" so he could play Propeller in the PHCU.
