I like how this show started as Shane and Ryan goofing around with their friends while Shane talks about history with a silly puppet, and now it's evolved into this fully fleshed out story arc with the deepest lore.

I love how last season they were like "Okay, we won't do any more lore!" And now it's nothing but lore and I am THRIVING
Just love the confirmation that it was never rigged against Ryan, just that the algorithm considered a bunch of other factors other than quiz points.
Remember that first handful of episodes when it felt like just a cute puppet show. An educational, well written, shallow pool of shiny puppet laughter.

New theory: The fake professor is the genie impersonating the Professor because Ryan's wish last season was to win. Because of the wish, the genie has to keep the show going without the real professor, and make Ryan win every match (kinda like how genies would sometimes twist people's words when it comes to wishes). This is also the reason why the songs this season seem quite a bit more mellow compared to the previous seasons (these puppets aren't actually alive, and are just the genie pretending to be them). It's also likely why the horse wife doesn't have any new voice, but is rather a really default sounding voice. I'm not quite sure what the lotion is doing, but I suspect the real professor is gonna come back in some really cool way o.O
I like this theory! I feel like Azmodeus will come back into play somehow. Maybe that's where the lotion will lead? 🤔 I'm loving the lore, this series is so phenomenal.
I was thinking that maybe the lotion will turn Ryan into a puppet somehow. The Professor is weirdly insistent about it so maybe it’s some sort of twist that the genie wants or the Professor needs to come back into reality
Genies wishes are often double edged so like...Ryan having to deal with what he's done (murdered our fuzzy little proff) and having no one acknowledge it and always winning would be fitting
What is the real professor is in the box and that gives the fake professor the power of the professor because of the tube attached to the the stage?
I was also thinking this had something to do with Ryan's wish to win! And it also could explain the emphasis on the B Boys, but not the C dogs, which is known to be the professor's favorite bit, because the genie doesn't know about the professor's sense of humor

I don't remember how I learned the meaning of defenestrate, but I too enjoy words and am weird so. That combination just leads you to knowing obscure definitions I guess
I actually learned about it in my highschool history class. It was just mentioned casually regarding the unusual yet entertaining way the people of Prague dealt with stuff and people they didn't like, but it has been one of my favourite words ever since. Amazing word

Rudy Fantoose, the author of the article that led Ryan to finding the professors clothes, is an anagram for "son, you farted." An obvious reference to Ryan's dad. Ryan's dad is known to have beheaded people as a dentist. There was a reference to beheadings in this ep, and is blatantly hinting at a beheading arc where the professor will attempt to kill Ryan in revenge... It's all so obvious.

I just rewatched the "aglathim" part, and the Professor TOTALLY has a trophy! It's sitting on top of the printer on the same side of the screen as BDG's face. However, the lotion is on Ryan's side. Right!? The song was so good! The lore was so creepy but creepy good! The lighting, the look at the victory algorithm (at last!), the glitching professor, and now we know for a fact that the "professor" is skewing the results in Ryan's favor.

I have long Covid (2 years now) and am watching this to settle my nerves before my first Neurology appointment to try and figure out what's happening to my body. I know Ryan ans Shane will probably never see this, but I hope they know how much joy they bring.

Hi moondrop, thanks for checking in.
Was diagnosed with Functional Dysautonomia. So the good news is that it's not progressive, as for a long time my GP was worried it was rapid onset Parkinsons so that was a huge relief. The bad news is that scientists aren't fully sure what causes it or how to treat it. The working theory linking it to Covid is that some people's immune system reacts to it so severely that their brain permanently shifts closer to fight or flight mode. So my heart randomly beats too fast (which really hurts - think of it as involuntary cardio exercise) and my hands shake, and all that fun stuff.
Honestly, the whole experience has been pretty traumatic (especially as I caught it while working in a hospital), but I've genuinely grown so much as a person along the way. I've learned that it's okay to ask for help, that I deserve self-care and self-love irrespective of how 'productive' I've been that day, and I'm far more assertive than I used to be (honestly you kind of HAVE to be to get anywhere in Healthcare), so there's a silver lining.
I hope you're all doing well and am sending love for the journey. X

I love this show more than anything but I can’t help not imagine what it’s like for the guests without the visuals and such that are added in post. They’re just sitting there watching a puppet talk for a long ass time which is great but also so funny to think about.
As a Czech person I've been praying for this to happen for SO LONG, though this also is a truly surreal experience

Here's my prediction. This Professor is actually the hologram ai from the last Christmas special that somehow gained sentience and needs Ryan for some nefarious reason to become real. The real Professor will probably return in the final episode and save him.
I think this is exactly what’s happening. The digital glitch on the Professor when he checked out the Victory Algorithm (nice to see that the victory algorithm is real whether The Professor fudged the results or not) and the fact that he’s getting subtle details about The Professor’s behavior wrong (“C Dogs” turning into “B Boys” for example) are pretty solid evidence of that. Not sure what the hologram is planning, or if the hologram is even the final boss of this season. Could be the Devil or the Genie planning something with the hologram part of the master plan, but regardless the real professor is going to show up in the season finale to save the day I guarantee it.
ooh i hadn’t considered the hologram thing but you both raise excellent points and this fits with the theory i already had that this isn’t the real Professor. that bit about a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” is one clear clue, and there’s also the fact (maybe a coincidence, but an interesting one) that the first episode of the season featured someone who faked his death (along with being paralyzed) and had multiple aliases, which fits the imposter theme! and the ending of the first episode showing this “Professor” hiding amongst all the Professor dolls is another example of posing as something you aren’t in order to hide in plain sight.
@@MrLegendofLP i also agree about the devil or genie being behind it ultimately. and there’s some irony in the hologram being used as a figurative puppet, since, y’know, it’s posing as a literal puppet.

I think this theory makes a lot of sense, and it would explain the power box. But if he’s a hologram, then why did Ryan here scuttling?
Watching this as someone who actually spent several weeks or even months on this topic in school, I gotta say the delivery was perfect and extremely entertaining. Don’t get me wrong. The nature of defenestration and it starting wars is already funny as is, but the professor, ryan and brian accomplished to actually get me interested and engaged in this topic. (Please don’t hate me for that, we talked so much about the 30 years war, at some point you stop to care how exactly someone was thrown out of a window in the beginning)

I’ve always been fascinated by the difference two letters can make when it comes to defenestration. Fenestration is just a fancy work for windows, but add two letters and you have people flying through the air to their demise.

Fun Fact: I was a Liaison Officer during the recent Prague Summit and one thing I will remeber till the day I die is how the country leaders would stop by Václav Brožka´s art of one of the defenestrations and would just stare at it. I know that some delegations even asked about it later, makes me always wonder what their inner reaction was.

I actually squealed when I saw this week’s topic. The defenestrations of Prague have always been one of my favorite historical events. So much so that I, apropos of nothing, have told my spouse about them more than once. I can’t even explain why other than the fact that it ended up being the focus of a particularly extreme ADHD hyperfixation during my AP Euro class in high school lol.
I’ve been waiting for BDG to end up in a Watcher video since he moved to LA! So excited! And it feels very appropriate for him to turn up as this show is becoming a psychological horror. Lol.
i already knew BDG was gonna know what defenestration meant because he is a theatre kid and a nerd, and i dont think any nerdy theatre kid escaped public school without learning "defenestration" and explaining what it meant to people
Prague is one of my favourite cities. You can feel the age and dark history of the city. I highly recommend going. The last time I went was 9 years ago and it feels like yesterday
The quality of everything - fx, music, writing, editing - has gotten better and better over the seasons. The whole crew is kicking ass on the puppet squad.
