@@fishingintheukgarywood a regular haunt of mine when I’m not constantly babysitting. Got to jury’s inn Gateshead last night. Black lugg tipped with hermit and a piece of octopus to keep the hook clear, did the job. Not much over 2lb but still fish. Tight lines gary. Looking forward to the next video.
hi buddy with sabiki fishing do you cast and leave until they bite or is it cast and slow retrieve the best way to catch them buddy . many thanks : karl
Hi mate, I usually do it both ways I cast and slowly retrieve and also drop it straight down the pier wall near the bottom and jig them straight up and down slowly until I feel a bite.
A trick I use with sabikis is I stick the top loop onto my main line put a weight on the other end and it makes them easy untangle cos dear or cheap they ALL come tangled to some degree
clip the weight on the end with the clip, drop the weight and they will all come off in order and without any tangles. then just tie your main line to the swivel.
@@fishingintheukgarywood Well done, what did you get?I've fished the break water at Holy head but got nothing fishing lug on one and going for squid on lures on another :/ it was only the once though. We stay by moelfre and fish off the rocks there mainly(obviously hols isn't all to do with fishing, but do what we can)aside from mackrel bashing which it's famous for you can catch all kinds from codling to launce, wrasse and herring. This coming holiday season I'm gonna try for gar fish on light tackle,it'll make a change from a 15ft rod and a chucking out a 7oz lead.I'm sure they are there.I've been watching this tonight,he's a cracking fella and fisherman, any questions he certainly answers.check this out.he has a vid on cooking em too! ruclips.net/video/lfkWpyJwEMk/видео.html
This video helped me thanks a lot I don’t usually fish in the sea I’m more of a freshwater fisherman and I catch trout but starting to go mackerel fishing
South Wales yr best bet mate, loads ray marks...only one never seen caught within 10 miles of Aberthaw (RIGHT at arse end) is an undulate....even the odd stinger shows up now n then....more then though to be fair, lol
i do this aswel with all my sea trout gear ive tobys over 20yr old without a spot of rust on them! i dry them off before i put them in my box on the beach 2
I was just collecting them for bait to freeze that time. I tried them as live bait on the float the last time i was on the pier nothing took it that time but I'll try again next time hopefully something big will take it.
That was painful to watch lol. Nothing wrong with them, not waste it's how to take them off. A weight on one end and remove them in order. Most packets show you which side to start with (usually weighted side, but I tend to have more luck with the swivel end).
Tip , tie the main top swivel on your main line and unwind the rest this keeps the rig taught and stops it doing what it wants (tanglering)😊
Nice vid gary - if you’d have done that this year there’s have been herring as well.
Thanks Phil. Yeah had a few herring this year they seemed to be everywhere especially in the rivers.
@@fishingintheukgarywood the first year I hardly got to fish and they were everywhere. I still haven’t had one.
When they are in fully one of the best places to get them is from the walkway in shields.

Put a weight on the end of the rig before u take it off the cardboard and they should just fall out untangled 👍
Good idea. Thanks I have learned something today.
Exactly. There is no totally waste of money. It's about how you use it. :)
video and this comment made me lol
in a perfect world
Love that idea
Cheers buddy I'm up mull of Galloway in July I'll give it a try Alan.
ENJOYED YOUR VIDEO,,CAN YOU TELL ME THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO TRY THIS.IM A BIT FIRTHER SOUTH AT SCARBOROUGH
Thanks, late spring and throughout the summer. June, July and August are usually the best months .
What weight was the peir weight you used
I think it was about 28g.
New to this channel just Subscribed 👍 Great video 👍 Very useful Thanks Mate 👍
Thanks mate 👍
Would you use these for bait for fishing around the northeast. And if so what would you expect to catch with this type of bait
I usually keep them for when I’m fishing away, but they can be used around here for bass, cod, flattys, pollock etc
What time of year can you catch the sand eels? Great video mate👍
Thanks mate, they usually turn up from around mid to end of May depending on the weather and sea conditions.
Have you tried the savage gear sand eel?
I've tried them but haven't had much luck with them. I've had more luck with the 10cm savagear sandeel slugs.
Sabikis are a psychological torture device when tangled.
Where did you go to in wales Gary? How did you get on?We stay/fish in Anglesey north wales. It's lovely Island!
We went to Holyhead in Anglesey, got on quite well caught some decent fish. One of my favourite places to fish.

Great video Gary! Always enjoy these. 👍
Thanks Gary.
Do you catch them all year round?
Mainly through the summer months.
@@fishingintheukgarywood Iv'e caught a few locally in the summer but cant seem to get past the herring lol
i dont think i have ever got a rig of saikis off the card without a tangle
Another good one mate. Went down earlier but decided on sharpley instead on the fly, had 15 or so but lost a tagged fish. 😢
Thanks Steve, gutted for you mate how much is it up to now?
Not sure. Would of been nice t9 land it tho.
This video helped me thanks a lot I don’t usually fish in the sea I’m more of a freshwater fisherman and I catch trout but starting to go mackerel fishing

I've never been there before but it's on the way to where I'm going next week is it any good?
Could do with catching some rays might have to have a trip to south Wales some time.
Hi were can i buy a rig like yours ?
you can buy the sabikis and spinners off amazon there is a link in the description to the sabikis.
Thank you i found it on ebay , great video have learn alot about sea fishing .
That's the most unwelcoming "welcome" sign I've ever seen
They’ve shut the pier completely now and made the staff who patrolled it redundant so even less welcoming.
I knew a teacher with a flick like that!!
Great video
Thanks Martin.
Strand
Next time wash the rig off under warm tap at home then leave to dry ,bingo no rust next time you use them.Takes less than 5mins.

How come you don't have a second rod set up for live bait and put one of those Sandeels on, you never know.
I was just collecting them for bait to freeze that time. I tried them as live bait on the float the last time i was on the pier nothing took it that time but I'll try again next time hopefully something big will take it.

I'd say the mackerel and Pollack would be at them
Solid flick on the nut
Cracking vid lad keep the good work up
Thanks Vitaliy.
Knit one pearl one could of made a string vest with them .what do you do to the sandeel when you get them home . Alan.
I wrap them in clingfilm and put them in the freezer.
Surely there must be some bigger predators there preying on them eels
Aye there should be but I was mainly just after the sand eels for bait.
Brilliant mate
Thanks Liam.
He starts fishing at about 5:00 everything else is until then it's tackle you're welcome
Why do some people hate the metric system?
Hahaha how did you manage to fuck up those sabin is so bad lol
u are uploading bit more videos this is great better than one a month or so and the mackerel shouldnt be far behind the eels
Thanks Steely. Aye shouldn't be long before the mackerel turn up now that the sand eels are about.
