That's what I did about a month ago. Bought an N64 that came bundled with all 4 AKI games, but No Mercy has seen the most use so far...the game still holds up.
6:32 if one company could fit the entirety of Resident Evil 2 on an N64 cartridge then I don't buy any excuse as to how AKI couldn't fit full ring entrances into No Mercy. It's one of the very few things I dislike about the game. Most wrestling fans love to have full entrances. WrestleMania 2000 had them, and when the follow up game doesn't, it sucks, because you expect it to be there

It created competition to actually make their wrestling games the best and it gave you variety. For the last 10+ years we get one game across all platforms meaning there's no incentive to create a truly great wrestling game. We were spoiled with choices back then...I really miss that.

Nope, there were bad games back then too. The only good games were War zone and attitude who competition with world tour and revenge. Then they did the whole trade where the wwf came out with wrestlemania 2000 and no mercy and I forgot what the other WCW games were. Those were the only good games. The WCW back stage brawl and other games that weren't Smackdown were bad.
British Bulldog was technically in 2000 as well. His attire and face are in the game so he can be created very faithfully. You can also create Johnny Ace and kinda the road warriors but the face textures for them didnt make it.
I created Sti. The face pain and the scorpion was missing but being dressed in black with a hat made up for it. And I utilized him way better than WWe did. There he was a top tier wrestler and brawler that gave the Rock and Triple H a run for their money 💰.
So, wait. The Road Warriors R.I.P could be created in WM 2000, OR, they could be created on No Mercy? I'm confused, please clear it up. Were both Hawk and Animal's faces and attires available as well?
@@PontFlair WM2000. Attires and Facepaint are there. You just put the paint over a face and select the right hair and you wouldnt be able to really tell it's not actually their faces.
The most consistent way to win handicap matches are to start off with the A hold A button attack. Get the opponent put the ring and into a submission as soon as possible. They won't kick their buddy put until you get them into blue and/or a few second into the hold regardless of difficulty. Then work on their buddy the same way to slow them down and just decide who you want to lose from there
Talk about the cage match glitch where if your opponent gets to the top of the cage, no amount of cage shaking will Make them drop, but if you are in the same spot you will be dropped if the opponent breathes on the cage
Yeah, that was a flaw and why I didn't bother playing it, even though I could easily beat them just by doing my special twice and then the second time I get on special, perform it then run while still on special, it was just a bummer because it removed some of the realistic of it and was a cheap advantage of giving the computer. I hate when game creators make them like this.
One of my favourite wrestling game. I spent a ton of time playing this game. It perfectly captured the attitude Era and it still holds up for older wrestling fans.

I see a lot of young fans going by herd mentality to appreciate this game but i as 35 years old individual i know what the attitude Era was and how immersive this game was.

The thing I love that NM had but WM 2000 didn't, is the variety of rope colors. All red, all blue, all black. That's awesome for a person like me who needs that nonsense LOL

For handicap matches in ring, you have to spam top rope moves vs 2 standing opponents. That takes one out and you can fight fair with the other. Also continuously throwing them out the ring For handicaps in the back, spam weapon throwing or running weapon swings
The first time I used to win those matches because I used to play with the difficulty setting on hard. So two normal ai fighters was tough but able. When I touched the game later on when I use a ps3 controller on the computer, that's when it became hard. I used to run outside an wait until their special went back to green and attack them both with cheap moves carefully until I built up enough energy to get on special. Then wipe the floor with them both. This way took long, but patience is a virtue. And if you're calculated enough, you could beat them.
9:54 You could drag your opponents on Smackdown-HCTP, I'm positive. Not sure about AKI games previously nor which SD dragging debuted, to be fair. Awesome feature though.
Aki put out a game earlier in 2000 in Japan virtual pro wrestling 2 that I always felt was miles ahead of no mercy. It has a much different feel and vibe. Doesn't have the updates from no mercy but I find it more polished and expansive. Should give that one a go too.
So glad you did this. This is, imo, the best wrestling game ever. Cannot wait for AEW Fight Forever. The mod community for this has done great things, except the modded moves often look insanely wacky because they have to use movements already in the game.
With the Undertaker’s theme, you can choose a different one for him under the CAW Edit, as there is a Original song to choose that loosely sounds like his American Badass theme, odd why they didn’t set it as standard for him though
It was originally in the script but had to heavily trim it unfortunately and that section had to go. Will more than likely cover def jam one day so will mention something about in that 👍
Keep in mind Fight Forever isn't going to be a yearly release. AEW already said they plan to keep supporting it with new content for years to come (as long as it's not a total flop). It'll basically be a live service game that will change with time, and a Community Creations is something at the top of their list to implement eventually. They're trying to capture that old school wrestling game market first.
The closest we got to this was Def Jam Vendetta. Aki was supposed to do one more WCW game but after the sale EA bought AKI and decided why not have rappers kick each other's butt in the ring. Vendetta was a solid game.
To this day I'm wondering why other game's don't add special guest referee 🤔. That's what made me give up on their new games like the uploaded did. I been disappointed too many times.
@@the16bitprick36 don't get me wrong, I like the gameplay. It's just bare bones. Not enough wrestlers, only can have 4 wrestlers in-ring at once (inexcusable in the 2020s), barely any match types, the creation sucks, there's a lot wrong. Not having a steel cage match is just inexcusable.
Its a great game though, the inclusion of proper story modes is what slightly edges this for me over Wrestlemania which ive covered if you wanna hear my thoughts on it. Both N64 and Gameboy version 👍
These days, you can only find the version without blood. Back then it had a bug that would delete everything, so they remade copies without blood for some reason. What's weird to me is, I have one of the original versions with blood. I've never had the data erase bug happen to me. Never. I must be one lucky son of a bi....

Little known gameplay tip. If you're in a Tag Team match you can pull off your Partners finisher by hitting A + B + L + R at the same time.

Although DOR 1&2 is Yukes branded, don't be misled, this uses the AKI Engine. So does Wrestle Kingdom 1&2.

A bit of a kick in the baws if im honest, i tend to like my games being right down to the T if possible.
Smackdown 2 also used the Raw Is War theme.
You should try WCW Mayhem. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. It's on n64 and ps1.

I have both Mayham for ps1 and N64. The PS1 version is better. For WCW PS1 games Mayham and WCW vs the world are excellent.

Kid Rocks theme is in the game. You have to put it on Undertaker manually because for some reason the creators forgot to put it on him.
