Strange that people keep saying FPX is inconsistent when they topped their spring season with an 87% series winrate and then repeated that in summer with a 93% series winrate. Given the larger sample size of teams in the LPL (16 LPL teams compared to 10 in LEC) that's even more impressive. If that performance doesn't prove consistency I don't really know what will.

    • @inconvenientfacts58
      @inconvenientfacts58 5 лет назад +8

It is not just that either. Bear in mind that the best matches that are not 'boring' are those that swing back and forth. So inconsistency may well be due to stiff competition. If G2 is consistent, one can argue they are just facing weak LEC teams.
People say SKT was inconsistent, but they still came back and won both LCK titles.

@@tsukuyomiinfini9962 He said that it was not because FPX performed that well, and it was G2 losing bad, so FPX weren't even playing their best either. BTW, how are you gonna compare the two? FPX is a shell of a shell of its former self bruh, losing practically their entire roster from the 2019 run, and even then, I would say it's a 3-2 for G2 since EU has regressed from its 2019 self, with its its team getting swept out of the playoffs by the fourth best team in the tourney lmao, AND they couldn't even win the LEC summer split. ALSO, just because FPX thought G2 were going to be better than whatever the fck they showed on stage, doesn't mean that they thought G2 were better than them or even close to them lmao. Did you not see those games? If a sane person watched a finalist getting ran out of stadium like THAT, then they would probably not think it was not the best performance either lol. Either way, G2 would have gotten at best 3-1'ed by FPX due to Tian being better than Jankos being better in every way shape or form, Perkz being a Kaisa and Xayah two trick (his Yasuo was horrid, so ez target ban), Caps getting clapped by the opposing midlaner for the second year in a row, with Wunder being the only G2 player that has an argument to be the better player at the position in the series. FPX truly seemed to give their very best performance in that series and do it when it mattered. Each game they set up risky plays and employed risky strategies, they executed them near perfectly. They danced around one of the best teams in the tournament and their jungler (who was a no name before this year to most westerners) showed one of the most convincing Lee Sin performances I have seen.

gonna say it right now, g2 never dominated though, msi they left groups as third, and does anybody really think theyd have beaten IG? Ig disrespecting TL is the only reason g2 won that tournament, they then spent summer literally trolling stage games, and refusing to scrim because they didnt want to share strats and "didnt need it", they then almost lost a bo5 to fnatic multiple times at the end of that season, went into worlds, got out of groups in second position, beat damwon fair and square, a third place lck team, with a pretty rough bot lane pair, which let perkz rightfully carry, against skt they had a gold lead of 1.5% or more for less than 7% of the series, yet everybody still talked about how they "destroyed skt".... as they won three games off of the back of a single clutch teamfight each, and sure, fair enough you deserve that win for doing that, but then fpx was an even better early game team than the fnatic that almost beat g2 twice, and miles ahead of the korean giants in skt in early game plays that were already pushing g2 to 7k gold deficits within 30 minutes. if g2 had actually practiced their early game after the fnatic series using it as a fucking wake up call, theyd have at least been able to stay competitive, but instead they spent the tournament thinking theyd be unstoppable mid game anyways so why bother, and it bit them in the ass hard.

this is why we need a loser's bracket.
actually just fix the format from group stage to bracket stage. RNG didnt make it because the format sucks, no disresprct to splyce but that should be RNG's place. TL was also a victim of this. fix the format of group stage so that we get the definitely top 8 teams in the winner's bracket then the 9-12 teams will wait in the loser's bracket. this way we will get a better finals. not the finals in the semis or quarters. this will also improve the quality of games.

"Double elimination bracket, I don't think it would have changed anything this year"
    &
"The best team happened to be miles better than the second best team that day"
    ...How about SKT though ???
Don't you think SKT could have benefited from a double elimination bracket ??
Don't you think SKT was the actual 2nd best team in the tournament ??
I mean, when you look at G2's 3-1 victory vs SKT, the Korean team (and Faker especially, not to mention Effort) were clearly underperforming and throwing, yet they always got the gold advantage and the baron over G2, and even in the last teamfight that made G2 win the 4th game, had anything gone wrong for G2 during that fight (eg : Mata's hook land on Mickyx -> no bump on Faker -> no Perkz ult on Faker -> no kill on Faker -> no kill on Teddy) then it would have made 2-2 and who knows which team would have won game 5 ?
My point is : when G2 at their best barely win vs the most underperforming Faker I've ever seen, it was obvious that G2 wouldn't be able to do anything vs FPX as long as FPX just doesn't throw as hard as Faker did.
BUT if there was double elimination bracket, SKT could've gone into the loser's bracket to take revenge on G2, then SKT could have faced FPX in the finals for the TRUE finals (the ACTUAL two best teams of the tournament).
SKT were just unlucky that they underperformed during the semi-finals because that meant elimination, whereas FPX were lucky to underperform only during the Group Stage (remember that FPX lost 1 game vs JTeam and one game vs Splyce, and if FPX had lost their second game vs JTeam, then FPX wouldn't even have made it out of groups).
In my opinion Faker is the most responsible for the G2-FPX Finals disaster, because he lost the semi-finals vs G2 although SKT should have won it to then face FPX in finals for a much more balanced series.

    • @aaronlloyd3717

@@itsme-es9ts Clid, Khan and Teddy were very good during the entire tournament.
Effort had too many bad berformances, but it didn't matter as long as Faker played well because he's the shotcaller.
Then, in semi vs G2, Faker had a very bad performance, not only was he getting caught again and again but you also could see the whole SKT team "not knowing what to do" which usually never happens because SKT is used to overwhelm their enemies with quick decisions to take advantages all over the map, making their victory inevitable despite a few kills given here and there. This time, you could practically feel Faker's bad performance not only as a single player, but also as SKT's shotcaller which made the whole team out of sync.
Yet, once again, no matter how bad Faker & SKT played vs G2, they still could have won the series, which proves that G2 could only rely on big throws to win vs the best teams like SKT or FPX. SKT threw very hard, FPX just didn't.

I honestly think that one of the reasons that we had stompings for the last two years at least is the fact that the EU teams are not used to worlds pressure. FNATIC's coach said it last year and I think Grabz alluded to it as well, they did not prep their players well enough. Now it might be that they are just protecting the players, but I honestly think finals experience (for a region) plays a big role. That's why its difficult in traditional sports for new countries to make a big impact in big tournaments (since 1930 the Football world cup has only been won by seven different nations). There is something to be said for collective experience. With two finals under their belt I think EU as a region will become stronger through those team experiences.

    • @NotSpentYet

@@theScore_Colten Yes their teams were less experienced, but my thesis is that they (China - as a region) had representation in finals in season 3 and 4. This prepared the region and helps create a greater understanding about how one should approach a final in a very unique way. Those players/coaches who have been there will carry that experience back to the region. Within the next two years I believe we will have a EU team wining worlds. The talent is there, for sure its just about showing up on game day. That being said I am in no way a profesional analyst. Maybe if I get the chance I will pose the question to one of the more knowledgeable sources "Hotline league" or something like that.

I think in best of 5 series, champions that are played in an earlier game, shouldn't be able to be played in subsequent games. If a series goes to 5 games, you are guaranteed to see around a third of all league champions. This would also force play style variety, showcase individual player skill, and promote meta development. Thoughts?

  • @LuckyGnom

Finals were boring only for EU fans. I was super exicted to see Doinb smash trashtalkers and finally prove that roaming midlaners can be good even at the highest levels of LoL. I understand that western audience doesn't give a single fck about eastern leagues, but I noticed Doinb back when he was at QG and tuned in into his streams at douyu from time to time. I even tried a lot of his weird tanky builds on traditional mid lane carries and had a lot of fun and wins with them. 3-0 isn't boring when you know a lot of background stories.
Also how can 3-0 be boring when FPX plays such a fun and weird play style? Everyone was prasing how fun it is to watch G2 and FPX are literally eastern G2. People were just sad about their team losing without any effort, everyone who didn't care about result or cheered for FPX had a lot of fun watching them playing incredibly fast and agressive League of Legends.

  • @AR3Q
    @AR3Q 5 лет назад +16

I just feel that the whole tournament lasted too long and the players got really exhausted.
On the other hand G2 decided to bootcamp in EU, therefore scrimming worse teams than they were in the East. If they went to Korea they could probably learn the FPX style and prepare better for them. This bo5 was their first time playing vs FPX so I'm not that shocked they had no moves

Arkadiusz Kielar first of all, G2 was making everyone believe that EU was actually better than Korea and China so they also stayed in EU. Secondly, the Chinese and korean teams also came to EU so they probably scrimmed with the best EU team G2. Thirdly, saying the tournament lasted too long and players are too tired is just a weird excuse, the tournament is the same for all players, they are given time in between late rounds to rest and prepare for their big games. If all players are tired cuz the tournament is too Long, then it's fair isn't it?

Valerio Kim I mean, that’s the result of the series, even lpl fans want more than just championship but interesting matches. But what can we or Riot do with it? The 3:0 just mean at that day winner is better team who seize their chance to end game. Before the game start all eu media and fans were hyped about G2 3:0 FPX, if 3:0 is dat bad why not much people stand out and say “no we want a 3:2 final.” Now eu got smashed and eu fans flame around, saying riot should do something to stop a 3:0 final happen again. What a joke. One day if lpl team got 0:3 in world final, we may flame our team player or encourage them do better in next year, but definitely won’t ask Riot do anything to “stop” a “boring game”.

I'm not gonna lie, theScore seem like they are high AF and have no idea what the hell they are talking about from a neutral standpoint. Having 3 3-0 grand finals wasn't even that important, 2017 was the end of the SKT/Korea dynasty and also Faker's "downfall", 2018 was the year of the underdogs with IG and 3 western teams in the top 4, 2019 was the actual RKO from outta nowhere by FPX and perfected matched with the worlds song "Pheonix".
Say what you will but the grand final was hype as hell, both FPX and G2 redefined LOL as a game and took what was "meta" and chucked it into the trashcan with stuff like nautilus mid, pyke mid with tiamat and more. There were plenty of crazy plays made and personally this grand final would definitely fit into my top 3 best worlds grand finals.
Was it a stomp? Yes, Did that make the finals any worse? No
Honestly, this video just seems like a cry about how the west got stomped twice back to back in the grand finals and I would bet a million dollars that if G2 had won 3-0 then this video would be about how this year's worlds was the best worlds ever.
