Nice that you have Big Pat to help demonstrate the moves in blocks and counter , and thank you both for your time in doing that victorian boxing presentation.
@danielteixeira309 That's a good question. Though some are still used to some degree and would still be effective, even bareknuckle boxing has evolved over time, incorporating modern boxing parries and blocking techniques. Also, influences from other fighting styles. This video is realy just looking at bareknuckle under London Prize Ring Rules where you could use trips, pulling as well as holding and hitting and throws. I hope this goes someway to answer your question. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video and channel.
@gb1984yt You could, but I wouldn't advise it as the modern sport of boxing is a completely different sport to the pre gloved era of victorian bareknuckle boxing. Hope you enjoyed the historical look at boxing techniques. Thanks for the comment. I hope you enjoy the channel.
It's a good question as you can see similarities between a lot of bareknuckle punching styles, not that they had influence from each other, but really, there is only so many ways you can punch someone in the face.
@@hkunsam2410 I have done some Wing Chun back in the 90s. Everytime Pat and i do some London Prize Ring Rules boxing or Savate, its surprising how many times we both end up Park or Larp Soa each other.
Yes, very much so, rules are completely different, from today's Boxing fights could fought under London Prize Ring Rules or Queensbury rules. And these varied hugely in London Prize Ring rule a round was over when either man was sent to ground by either punch or by being thrown and given 30 seconds to recover.
Looks very similar to the older methods of Karate. Did basically basics of moving across the floor. Similar to what you are doing now. Work on makiwara and various pads. Hands were held lowered. Head strikes were usually open handed to the upper part of the head. Fist to the upper areas of the head would often break the hand. No antibiotics, not great medical care in general. Classic boxers fracture really bad.
Funny you talk about similarities between Victorian boxing and Karate, I'm going to be doing a couple of videos on this. Hope you enjoyed the video and the channel.

No problem, thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video Andy.
Could you be allowed to use this in modern day boxing matches or is it now against the rules?

What do you think about wing chun similar to old boxing?

Thx for the answer. It makes sense since the human body mechanics are the same so they might have the same technique.

Why don't u simply parry with the lead hand instead of using the reserve covering the body & expend less energy that way?
So often practicing the simple stuff can streamline your martial arts.

Well, it's not something I wish to discuss on RUclips. Let's just say I'm well on the wrong side of 50.
I’m nearly half way to 70.

Looks like shotokan karate
It does a bit but it's all European bareknuckle boxing dating back to the 1600s. But I know what you mean though. Hope you enjoyed the video
