The one in the link only have 256gb SSD though, how did you get 512GB?

SSD is 2242, not 2230 as you said. Both SATA and NVME work in the unit.

The layout of the ports makes more sense for a portable machine but the lack of PD power is a massive barrier to its success. The computer is never going to be competitive in performance terms but the size of the box becomes attractive for portability or media PC use, as you can link it straight to a PD capable monitor/TV, which is becoming more common. I had an N100 mini with PD and I could leave the cable in the monitor and just plug the mini in when I wanted to work, but I could store it or use it somewhere else. With a barrel jack or even a separate USB adapter, it uses an extra wall socket and you have the faff of an extra cable/box to carry and store.
If you use it as desktop PC you as well have a cheaper 5" N100, which is probably more stable on the desk.
Still, it's a step closer to a workable, in-line stick PC

It's hard to blame GMKtec when this is clearly an Intel clusterfrak.
    What a shame.
Remove the single channel memory limitation, have at least 16GB of RAM, for the same price.
    Thanks for the video.

At the moment, the linked G5 is £370 in the UK
    The Minisforum EM680 - similar tiny size, a 6800U with 32gb RAM, USB4, etc - is £340 on offer (£400 usually)
That's a hard, hard sell, even taking into account that the first thing you have to do with it is update the BIOS on the EM680 or the performance will be crippled....

@@red2 @nbessell aye, just checked their site direct and that's a lot more reasonable. I can assure you, the linked amazon listing *was* £370 in their own amazon store, I'd not have posted otherwise as it seemed bizarre!
At least it answers the question as to where the price in the thumbnail came from!

12GB on board it's a shame!!! Specs of the Mini PC are very good but what about if in the future you need to update your RAM? You are stuck with your 12GB! Eventhough less powerfull I think that the Nuckbox g3 it's much better. You can update till 32 GB the ram so that the mini pc will survive lon to more memory-intensive versions of Windows...
