- Sega has just teased remakes or remasters, or even completely new games for Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, and Crazy Taxi. I have so many questions!!! Let’s watch the trailer and let me know what you think.

Shinobi looks absolutely GORGEOUS! It's been 12 years since the last new game in the Shinobi franchise was released and the last new game for Golden Axe was in 2008 with Beast Rider....been a LONG time. If this is what they are leading the way with? I'm really interested in what OTHER classic Sega games they plan on remastering.
I think this is a great lineup. Hopefully we will see games like Our Run or Alien Storm.

As a Sega fanboy, this was the highlight of the Video Game Awards. Can't wait to see these legendary IPs coming back!
PS I hope we get a new Eternal Champions game, too! Would be an amazing fighter, especially if they add a whole bunch of popular Sega characters to it, like Axel Stone, Altered Beast Centurion, Joe Musashi, Kazama Kiryu,...etc

Wooooooo, man!!! Eternal Champions deserves a new chance to shine, the second version was really good, the guest characters would be easy addittion since it blends very well to the game premise
This is what I have chanting and hoping for, I understand your reservations on sor and golden axe but I am hopeful sega has kept the quality control in check and make sure that all 5 resurrected IPs are of good quality.

Despite being only 20 years old, I am a huge Shinobi/ Shadow Dancer fan, since I had only Sega in my childhood. Announce of the remake made me excited. Hopefully, it will be a good remake.

This is so exciting. I saw a quick video of this last night and the youtuber was saying these were all new games (don't know how he knew that. We all watched the same video) and was hoping you would make a video. I'm sure you'll stay on top of this for us Mike to let us know. I think Streets of Rage 4 was amazing so I can't wait for whatever they do with that and the Shinobi and Golden Axe games look fantastic!

It's in 3D, which could be great or it could change the feel of the series. Not a bad thing if it's done well.
They look mostly look like remakes, with the exception of Crazy Taxi. Police? That could be an interesting addition to the gameplay.

Very interesting, but not enough details! In the fall, Sega was talking about a great announcement at The Game Awards, some new type of game, a "Super Game". And this new video is subtitled "POWER SURGE". Does that mean they are preparing some kind of playground / multiverse for arcade games?
Hyenas by The Creative Assembly was one of the confirmed super games but it's been cancelled
I'm not sure. It's weird that they call them "Super Games" when the whole industry just calls them AAA games.
Well, many more details are needed... but, I'm excited. Everything shown looks to have a lot of promise.
We won't know until they are out I guess.

I don't like how everyone on the internet's been calling these "remakes". For me it clearly looks lik a Jet Set Radio 3, a Crazy Taxi 4, a new Streets of Rage in 3D, another Beast Rider-style Golden Axe and a modern 2D Shinobi that doesn't seem to play at all like the old ones.
The new Shinobi seems to have a lot of Shinobi III in it, and that's a good thing!
@@DancesRainyStreets I see references and allusions, but it's pretty far from replicating the gameplay of Shinobi 3. For one, it seems pretty fast-paced, like Ninja Gaiden-fast. Shinobi was more about precise attacks and defense.
@@eyzmaster The controls of the old Shinobi games require precision indeed and i really like that. If you got the rhythm down, the game play is responsive and fast, except for the slow walking animations. Being able to run in part three was a nice bonus, and all the extra moves added more freedom to tackle the game in the way you wanted to.
@@DancesRainyStreetsDon't need to tell me twice, I'm a huge fan of the series, got them all from the SMS first port to the Saturn one to the Kunoichi spinoff on the PS2 and even the awful reboot on GBA and the good reboot on 3DS. ;)
You said it pretty well, I really enjoy the "rhythm" you get to play when you get good at a Shinobi game.

I hope this will have them make Outrun 3 and just use generic cars like Ridge Racer, so it won’t get stocked in license hell when it comes to rereleases.

Seems really awesome. But I’m not getting my hopes up though. Remember, Streets of rage was gonna get a Dreamcast era sequel… that never came, golden axe had that awful beast rider, or whatever it’s called. I will say this though, this past decade or so, Sega has been keeping their word on games coming, like ALL those Sonic games they keep pumping out. So maybe we will get these and they will be good
I think these will release, but how good they will be is hard to tell.
I'm very excited about the new Shinobi and Jet Set Radio games, but have we not learned our lesson about trying to turn Golden Axe and Streets of Rage 3D?
SoR never really went 3D, though. That forgettable game that started as SoR and ended up receiving a completely new name wasn't even developed by Sega.
@@fabioriato SEGA did start development of a 3D first person Streets of Rage game on the Dreamcast but it ended up getting scrapped unfortunately.

From what I understood reading the articles about this, they're all gonna be new releases for these franchises, which is certainly elevating the hype of every Sega fan out there. Very much looking forward to the new Shinobi, especially, and finally we're getting a true hack n' slash Golden Axe.
OK, made a quick research here and found out I somehow missed "GA: Beast Rider". I'm still intrigued by the new entry, nonetheless.
Beast Rider is terrible. But I am looking forward to this new release.

Good finding. Super excited by this. I played this games in my youth especially Shinobi and Golden axe. A remake that shows respect to them is great. Also had Crazy Taxi on DC when it was released. Great comeback.

Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi look quite nice. I just wish that SEGA would develop more of their properties inhouse rather than handing them out to any and everybody.
I don't think they have enough teams. They've closed a lot down over the years.

I was super impressed. I am hardly ever so excited about new game releases any more. All new games and the press release says that these are just the first games that will be released, with more games based on legacy IP coming.
It's a great time to be a Sega fan.
I want them Helicopter Strike games to be remade. Those were Badass.

This is all my X feed has been about this week. It's amazing. I believe these are all brand new games and Sega have said "in development" so some of them should be a fair bit into development.
That will be interesting, so sequels in the various series.
For everyone concerned about how Streets of Rage will play in 3D, just watch the gameplay of SPIKEOUT FINAL EDITION, an arcade beat em up produced by SEGA.
It will be the same for sure. Mike should do a video in the future about forgotten arcade SEGA games.

These almost look like mobile games, and downloads for consoles. Not sure how I feel about 3D Golden Axe and Streets Of Rage, but that Shinobi game looks rad.

I've been playing videogames since they were invented and literally own thousands and THOUSANDS of games and I've only been exited about a handful of games for a few years now and when I saw this I almost SHHHHHT myself! OMFG I can't wait to get my grubby little hands on these especially Golden Axe and Shinobi as these are still some of my favorite games ever! I absolutely loved Golden Axe: Beast Rider (X-box 360) and Daaaaamn this preview looks Amazing!!!!! Holy SHHHHHT I can't wait 👍👍✌️

Usually i would be hyped as hell. But we're almost in 24 and when you look at the games they remake fans are waiting for, im more afraid than excited. But we'll see. Oh, and there's a 3D Golden Axe on 360. If we're lucky, Sega showed the starting lineup for Dreamcast 2 😊

But as a huge GA and SOR fan I would be lying if I said I was not concerned about making them in 3D….
I can see Golden Axe working, but I would have liked to have seen it in the SoR4 art style. SoR in 3D worries me.

Shinobi looking like the it plays like the nes ninja gaiden is what I have always wanted from next Gen systems 😳
Ever played Shinobi III? This new one seems to be inspired a lot by that game.
@@DancesRainyStreets something about the physics seemed floaty and stiff. Everything about the nes ninja gaiden games felt empowering, like you were completely over powered and unstoppable. When you die in games like that it's your fault, when I took damage in Shinobi I felt like it was due to poor controls and play mechanics.

@@peacefulscrimp5183 Ninja Gaiden is much more straightforward in it's presention of an action game. More about keeping a certain pace going. Shinobi is about timing and precision, with usually multiple possibilities to move onward.

This was the best reveal from TGA, I knew Sega was promoting something BIG, but I didn't anticipate all these. I honestly thought it was going to be something movie related.

Looks like Shinobi is being made by the SOR4 dev team and looks bad-arse! I'm worried about how well SOR will translate to 3D though.
That's what I thought. And SoR is worrying. Especially as SoR4 was a very good entry into the series and it did not mess with the formula too much.
I imagine they are all remakes as part of the Sega franchise so yeah not just your same traditional Sonic platforming game to try but there's others.
It's going to be interesting to see what they make.
Hope they put the originals on it as well, but it will probably be a DLC.

If this will be a new part of Golden Axe, I hope that Cronos and Gryphon from Golden Axe 3 are playable as well. Also I hope that this will be Streets of Rage 5 and from "and more" section, there will be a new part of (Super) Hang-On.
The more games look like they are Altered Beast, Eternal Champions, and Kidd Chameleon.
Wow the way you got so Happy when you saw Golden Axe was the samething I did. But after watching this video a few time the one thing I'm hoping Sega is not doing is making these for the PS only as the two people on the couch had a PS 5 controller in hand. That would leave alot of money on the table. As so Sega fans are on all Units and that Includes PC.

I feel like it’s about damn time Sega delved into its HISTORIC ip beyond Sonic. Not even Nintendo has the IP history that Sega has. I will 100% take these new games in the video but if I had just one wish it would be for a next gen Sega Ages collection. Sega Rally, Scud Race, a Virtua Fighter collection…come on Sega you can do it.

Are these being made by Sega in house or budget studios from Central/Eastern Europe? Too many Japanese publishers have been outsourcing their games to be made in Europe, using Unity. . .

The new Shinobi kinda reminds me of Mark of the Ninja with the way he runs up the wall and some of the animations, so perhaps it's made by the dev who made those games. Though I'm also reminded a bit of the 3DS Shinobi game (which is an amazing game and you're not a true Shinobi fan if you haven't played through it).
Anyhow, I don't think we can say if these games are new ones altogether or remakes. The SoR and Shinobi game definitely look like sequels. Crazy Taxi probably as well. Golden Axe and Jet Set Radio are hard to say since some of the areas shown do imply it could be a remake... but they could also be references. As for SoR being in an arena... well, it seems to be early in development, so I don't think it's representative for the actual game structure when it does release.
Jet Set Radio, Shinobi and Crazy Taxi did look pretty far along. Golden Axe a decent amount, but not as far as the others. SoR looks like something they barely got started on and would probably release last of these 5 games. None of the games seem to have a finalized title yet, so chances are we won't even see 1 of them next year. But if they do release 1, it's going to be 1 of the first 3 I mentioned. Probably Jet Set Radio first, since that's the game they opened up with and probably the game that's furthest into development.
Did you see the latest screen shots?
If they are only in development then some of these might just be quick unreal demos made to get people exicited. Glad they are finally listening but 3d Streets of rage is the only one I am not sure of.
I think they have been in development for over a year. When I was at Sega HQ in Tokyo last year they mentioned that they were rebooting all these IPs. They obviously did not give specifics.
