@@tetermcI liked 2 the best. You had a lot of variety with the way you played. You could play your characters that were supposed to combo or your bigger slow characters that would get big hits off, the music was on point. I’d listen to the streets of rage 2 music without the game, and the bosses were iconic. Very memorable

I just brought this game to my job and got a bunch of young guys to play (4player co-op) and they are in love with it.

I like the extra difficulty in Streets of Rage 3. Also like the better controls and more interaction. Only reason people who actually played Streets of Rage 3 hated on the game was because of the added difficulty and the music, which was really good also.
that's it! SOR3 is the best of them all, and the experimental acid techno is so futuristic that people back in the days though it was dogshit but now people discovering this soundtrack are mind blown by it! And the difficulty fits so perfectly with the story and the music. The game is throwing at you everything it got...the enemies are relenteless! I just love that game to death (obviously haha)
The music in that game was good but the problem was that they kept repeating the stage 1 theme like it was some kind of master piece for example when you fight shiva on one of the endings, what track does the game play? The stage 1 theme I mean I would’ve rather them reuse shivas theme from SOR2 if anything

I utterly agree with this list! Though I never heard of the spin-off that look like a fan game… And you made all the points I hoped you made regarding each regional history! Especially as someone newer to this franchise. Glad you really played them through, and understood why they define the beat em up genre. I still think SOR2 had the best soundtrack in the series, but Streets of Rage 4 is FANTASTIC. Especially for a return to form. It has it all, and had meaningful refinements. As a long time fan myself, I was very happy with the 4th entry. I can confidently say it lived up to desired expectations. I wished we can have Streets of Rage Remake release for consoles, because don’t get me started how incredible that fan game is. I’m looking forward to TMNT Shredder’s Revenge.

Many Friday’s in the early to mid 1990’s were spent hurrying home after school waiting on my parents to get home from work and us going to Blockbuster or Fox Video so I could spend some of my allowance on a Freddy, Jason or Michael Myers movie, a couple video games (which one was always one of the Streets of Rage or one of the Road Rash games) and one of those huge bags of popcorn. DAMN I miss those days. But playing SOR4 brought back some of that nostalgia for sure
I really like Streets of Rage 1 , 2 & 3 so much. 😊😂 Funny moments when your character or others keeps getting hit all the time. Hahaha. Can't stop laughing about the hit and music sound effects. 😂
I do prefer Bare Knuckle 3, 'cause it brought me one of the best playable characters: I just have loved played with bionic grandpa Zan. The old cyborg rules, yeah!
I agree with 99% of everything you said, including the order of games. Streets 4 just has so much great replayability, it legit has to be #1 ......however, I disagree on the Soundtrack comment. As much as I love Streets 4 soundtrack, I hold SoR 2 at a much higher level. Streets 2 soundtrack was just revolutionary, and it set a strong stance for Beat Em Up soundtracks. I don't see any SEGA game surpassing it in music. As far as beat em ups go, I hold it at #1
SoR 2 is one of the best games on Sega, and one of the best games ever made. I remember renting SoR 3 from the video store and to this day, remember how hard that game was in comparison to 2
When you say how Street of Rage 3 difficulty is too hard, that's not how it was in Bare Knuckle 3 (japanese/original version). The US dev tweak the difficulty to the level where it became unbalance. Hard level impossible to be dealt with unless the player is a super 🤣
Plus the original version of SOR3 hasn't been correctly ported to the newer consoles. The sega genesis collection removed items and made enemies more difficult.
Totally agree I have an English translation of "Bare Knuckle 3" and the slightly easier game results in a more enjoyable gaming experience. Plus Ash is in there too😊
Bare Knuckle III would be the best game by far only if it wasn't that easy. You can finish that game on hardest level without any skill whatsoever, just by mashing buttons. Great game, but lack of challenge kills it.
Sad thing is that there aren't any original ports of sor3 unless you own the sega genesis version.. The collection on the ps4 stripped stuff from the entire series
And still one of the best features of Streets of Rage 1 that the others didn't bring to the table is the multiple endings. Choosing to become boss!!! Surprised that none of the sequels added this sort of feature in. I love the elevator stage in Streets of Rage 1 as well! I'll always still go back to the original to try to complete the game with no continues.
I’m impressed that he actually got the number one spot right? I’m so sick of people living in the past, but can’t even name one thing Streets of Rage to actually does better than Streets of Rage 4
Streets of rage remake is THE MAIN FANGAME to play no contest. Took 8 years to make and it wasn't a simple copy paste mod. it was coded from ground up. You owe yourself a favor and play it. Streets of rage 4 also took inspiration from this game to create some of the maps in SOR4. Like the train rooftop, and the map layout. Streets of rage remake is a masterpiece and even Yuzo koshiro himself congratulated the team. Too bad sega took it down, but it was the Sonic mania of streets of rage and should have been the case because it surpasses the originals. A lot of love and passion went into it.
Streets of Rage 1 lives up to its name with the bosses and the jugglers. Like Sonic 1, the controls are horrific and sluggish, the mechanics are inconsistent, and it was clearly made in the quarter era where games are made hard to generate revenue.
I was lucky enough to have Bare Knuckle 3; so to me, the complains everyone in the US has about SOR3 are understandable, but it sounds like Bare Knuckle 3 was a tremendously better game than sor3 in the states.
@@Hunt9-qb1if the music is WAY better on 2 than on 4. Otherwise I agree that 4 is superior. I put the second game as my top mainly because of nostalgia.
so ppl don't like 3rd game cuz of botched western release. I played japanese original first and i think it's better than 2, just objectively, more moves and characters and stuff, while core gameplay is the same.
I don't care about the changes on the releases because I think Bare Knuckle 3 isn't great either. I think the new character sprites aren't nearly as good and I hate what they did to the combat. They sped it up and botched the sound effects. The combat always feels unfinished compared to 2 as if it was rushed. And all the voices are pretty terrible in comparison as well. I'm not sure how all this happened when they added an 8 extra 8megs.
Talking about disappointing reboots… I waited 18 years for Shenmue 3. I don’t think I have to elaborate there. If you played 1&2 as a youngster you’ll know how incredibly upsetting Shenmue 3 is in comparison. I couldn’t find enough food to keep my hunger/health up beyond the first few minutes. It’s an awful game. Shenmue was so far ahead of its time. Streets of Rage 4 though, I’ve put well over 400hrs into it, mostly on Suvival, but trying different difficulties and with so many different characters is so much fun. Replayability is major on this game
I’m so sick of the nostalgia idiots up there saying Streets of Rage too. It’s better when they can’t name one thing it does better than Streets of Rage for as a actual video game.
Original games: Streets of Rage → fantastic game, unforgettable soundtracks and scenarios; Streets of Rage 2 → a good game, good soundtracks and scenarios, but slow game; Streets of Rage 3/Bare Knuckle III → the most misunderstood but with one of the best gameplay; Streets of Rage 4 → What is this thing? Cartoon? My personal opinion, I didn't like anything about this game fan games: Streets of Rage Remake → a masterpiece without a doubt; Streets of Rage X (or 2X) → another masterpiece by fans. Hacks that if you not played you need to play: Streets of Rage Killer Difficulty → if you like a real challenge, perfect for you; Streets of Rage 2 Warriors of Fate 1000 Mans → quite challenging game with enemies that doesn't seem to end; Streets of Rage 2 Ninja Warriors Once Again Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Streets of Rage Project; The Punisher in the Streets of Rage; Streets of Rage 2 - Street Fighter Version 1 (Dhalsim/Ryu/Guile/Ken) Streets of Rage 2 - Street Fighter Version 3 (Blanka/Honda/Zangief/T.Hawk) Streets of Rage 2 - Street Fighter Version 4 (Balrog/Bison/Sagat/Vega. I still think some OpenBOR games and the Streets of Rage remake are better than all of them. Streets of Rage 2X is amazing and is still getting updated by f-games, it has bigger, better combos, special moves, supers, blocking, dodging, counters, branching paths. Streets of Rage remake v5.2 also is great and closest to the classic experience, with all characters from all 3 games and some extra ones too, you can even play as Mr. X. Talking about official beat em ups, in terms of combos and gameplay, Fignt N Rage is the best one, its way better than the new TMNT game and Streets of rage 4, although it deviates from the classic, simplistic button mashing experience. The amount of insane combos and things you can pull of is amazing, it even has a nice parrying system. I don't think that game gets enough credit it deserves. I believe a lot of people don't even know about that game.
It's funny to me, every ranking game video these RUclipsrs start by saying, I never play this game before and then start ranking that game exactly the way Google would rank a game by collecting all player base like and dislike ratio,, This video exactly like the usually uninterested RUclipsr talking about something that he has no interest in other them using the fan base of that game for content, dude just keep saying I like this game but can't explain why I like it or why it's batter then others, and the reason basically is this guy never played SOR before making this video, and just using the game for content which I fucking hate, you can't even tell why SOR 2 is batter then 3, and the most hilarious part is that SOR 3 is harder then SOR 2 😂, now this is where OG Sega player will tell you that you guys suck on playing games, because Sega normal games were more challenging then now days soul games
As someone who owned Streets of Rage 2 back in 1992 back on release day; it undoubtedly is the best in the series for both gameplay and soundtrack with possibly the greatest boss theme ever with "Never Return Alive". Streets of Rage 3, yes we know exactly why that suffered for its American & EU release but gameplay was an evolution of SOR2 and I loved the level design. However the soundtrack was awful. I have played SOR4 into the ground considering I had initial doubts about it when it was announced and Cherry Hunter is possibly the best character in the entire series.
I disagree with the list. Streets of Rage original game was far better than the 3rd game. It may not have looked as good, but the soundtrack was superior to any of the games.
If you can't run it's not better...simple...3 is the goat...and you can play as Shiva or Kangoo I mean cmon...and what about zap or whatever his name was...he had this glowing balls that he could throw
For me, streets of rage 3 is the weakest game in the entire series for quite a few reasons. For one, the American version is ridiculously censored. On top of that, it's heavily modified, including the story; And to make matters worse, we got screwed over because our version of the game is harder so that we don't beat it in the span of a rental weekend. My absolute least favorite thing about the game, though, is the soundtrack. I get that they were trying to be experimental, but those experiments were not very successful.

I agree with 99% of everything you said, including the order of games. Streets 4 just has so much great replayability, it legit has to be #1
......however, I disagree on the Soundtrack comment.
I remember renting SoR 3 from the video store and to this day, remember how hard that game was in comparison to 2
Great video, would swap SOR1+3 personally, unless you bring BK3 into the equation and I would place Sor2 at the top, but I know it's nostalgia.
Plus Ash is in there too😊
@@barryhennessy6351 yea, Ash was hillariously strong! I love play as him 'coz that's kinda add the insult to enemies' injuries 🤣🤣
The first streets of rage is better than the third one. In fact if I had played the third one first when I was a kid, zI wouldn't have became a fan
Bare Knuckle III would be the best game by far only if it wasn't that easy.
You can finish that game on hardest level without any skill whatsoever, just by mashing buttons.
Great game, but lack of challenge kills it.
Sor3 is the best in the series
@@raidenrbs I agree 🙂
@@raidenrbsagreed
Sad thing is that there aren't any original ports of sor3 unless you own the sega genesis version..
The collection on the ps4 stripped stuff from the entire series
@@Tiripsroirrawhow?
And still one of the best features of Streets of Rage 1 that the others didn't bring to the table is the multiple endings. Choosing to become boss!!! Surprised that none of the sequels added this sort of feature in. I love the elevator stage in Streets of Rage 1 as well! I'll always still go back to the original to try to complete the game with no continues.
Awesome video
I hope we will get a Streets of Rage 5, 4 was so awsome
Well, looks like you'll get your wish
came here to say this!!
@@relly66112
Streets of Rage 1 lives up to its name with the bosses and the jugglers. Like Sonic 1, the controls are horrific and sluggish, the mechanics are inconsistent, and it was clearly made in the quarter era where games are made hard to generate revenue.
1 is my favorite, despite it's cheese and jank. I just find it funnest and it has the best soundtrack imo.
Sor3 is sooo underrated
I wish sor4 was more like it with running, non linear plot ans absolutely crazy music
I actually appreciate the soundtrack for Streets of rage 4, because of how dynamic it is.
I recall running in the fourth game…
It’s underrated for a reason they botched the localisation of SOR 3 with that difficulty spike and overall it’s a step down from SOR 2.
@@delaceylehane7758with one character
I was lucky enough to have Bare Knuckle 3; so to me, the complains everyone in the US has about SOR3 are understandable, but it sounds like Bare Knuckle 3 was a tremendously better game than sor3 in the states.
him:- "sor1 feels more like an nes game than a genesis game."
me:- alright. Let's see what else is on youtube.
The only problem I have with SoR4 is lack of sprint and evasion for characters(with a few exceptions)
SOR 3 is quite played it mania excellent
Bricks
Love Streets of Rage!! 2 is OG!!
Definitely going to look into 4, it looks really good!!
The ninja turtles game is really good made by the same developers
False
No existe un SOR malo, todos han sido excelentes..
This is my ranking:
4. SoR 3
3. SoR
2. SoR 4
1. SoR 2
2 doesn’t do anything better than four
@@Hunt9-qb1if the music is WAY better on 2 than on 4. Otherwise I agree that 4 is superior. I put the second game as my top mainly because of nostalgia.
Streets of rage, TMNT, final fight and double dragon r the big four of beat em ups. I love all them so much.
so ppl don't like 3rd game cuz of botched western release.
Same here. I grew up playing Bare Knuckle 3, SOR1 and 2. 3 definitely has the best gameplay of the first 3. Running is a must as well 💪
3 is the worst by a mile
SOR2 SoundTrack is my Favorite 16 Bit SoundTrack of All Time and one of the Greatest SoundTrack in Music History
viewtuful joe is one of my favorite games of all time you think ill like this? also is it way harder than vj?
Number one should be the first Streets of rage which started everything!
Why do I hear Mystic Ruins?
My Ranking:
1. Streets of Rage 2
2. Streets of Rage 4
3. Streets of Rage Remake
4. Streets of Rage 3
5. Streets of Rage
I’m so sick of the nostalgia idiots up there saying Streets of Rage too. It’s better when they can’t name one thing it does better than Streets of Rage for as a actual video game.
Especial mencion to street of rage remake !
Original games:
Streets of Rage → fantastic game, unforgettable soundtracks and scenarios;
Streets of Rage 2 → a good game, good soundtracks and scenarios, but slow game;
Streets of Rage 3/Bare Knuckle III → the most misunderstood but with one of the best gameplay;
Streets of Rage 4 → What is this thing? Cartoon? My personal opinion, I didn't like anything about this game
fan games:
Streets of Rage Remake → a masterpiece without a doubt;
Streets of Rage X (or 2X) → another masterpiece by fans.
Hacks that if you not played you need to play:
Streets of Rage Killer Difficulty → if you like a real challenge, perfect for you;
Streets of Rage 2 Warriors of Fate 1000 Mans → quite challenging game with enemies that doesn't seem to end;
Streets of Rage 2 Ninja Warriors Once Again
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Streets of Rage Project;
The Punisher in the Streets of Rage;
Streets of Rage 2 - Street Fighter Version 1 (Dhalsim/Ryu/Guile/Ken)
Streets of Rage 2 - Street Fighter Version 3 (Blanka/Honda/Zangief/T.Hawk)
Streets of Rage 2 - Street Fighter Version 4 (Balrog/Bison/Sagat/Vega.

I do too.

It's funny to me, every ranking game video these RUclipsrs start by saying, I never play this game before and then start ranking that game exactly the way Google would rank a game by collecting all player base like and dislike ratio,,
This video exactly like the usually uninterested RUclipsr talking about something that he has no interest in other them using the fan base of that game for content, dude just keep saying I like this game but can't explain why I like it or why it's batter then others, and the reason basically is this guy never played SOR before making this video, and just using the game for content which I fucking hate, you can't even tell why SOR 2 is batter then 3, and the most hilarious part is that SOR 3 is harder then SOR 2 😂,
now this is where OG Sega player will tell you that you guys suck on playing games, because Sega normal games were more challenging then now days soul games
The original SOR is one of my favourite
The first street of rage has a very very good soundtrack.. i dont know how you can say that this is not amazing 😮 it's like a golden soundtrack really
All SORs should be played in order to appreciate SOR2 especially SOR1 which should not be skipped, if anything SOR3 could be skipped
I definitely prefer the fist game over the third one, at least the North American version. Ive never played bare knuckle III
Castle Crashers is another very good beat em up.
Streets of rage 3 is better than streets of rage 2 cuz streets of rage 3 is the best game in the whole franchise.
Agreed. It's my favorite along with sor1
It’s the worst than the franchise
Even SOR1 is leagues beyond any brawler of the era.
My Top 4 SOR Games are
1. SOR2
2. SOR4
3. SOR3
4. SOR1
Same💪🏿
2 isn’t better then 4 nostalgia, moron
Streets of rage 1 does not feel like a nes beat em up. What an utterly stupid thing to say.
3:50 well, that's what sequels are supposed to do, improve on the original
As someone who owned Streets of Rage 2 back in 1992 back on release day; it undoubtedly is the best in the series for both gameplay and soundtrack with possibly the greatest boss theme ever with "Never Return Alive".
Streets of Rage 3, yes we know exactly why that suffered for its American & EU release but gameplay was an evolution of SOR2 and I loved the level design. However the soundtrack was awful.
I have played SOR4 into the ground considering I had initial doubts about it when it was announced and Cherry Hunter is possibly the best character in the entire series.
Gekido is the best out of every bet up bad guy game I played
What about the Master system editions :)
Where's bare knucle mobile?
I disagree with the list. Streets of Rage original game was far better than the 3rd game. It may not have looked as good, but the soundtrack was superior to any of the games.
If you can't run it's not better...simple...3 is the goat...and you can play as Shiva or Kangoo I mean cmon...and what about zap or whatever his name was...he had this glowing balls that he could throw
To me the best in order is SOR 2,4,1,3
My ranking
5: sor 1
4: sor 2
3: sor 3
2: sor 4
1: sor remake
To everyone: im professional, and im not young. Stay mad.
