  • The Making of Streets of Rage 2 (2020 extended version).
    A while back I interviewed Yuzo Koshiro who revealed some new info on the development of this legendary brawler. In this episode: How the small studio Ancient was tasked with making the best fighter on the system. Also covered, the music of Streets of Rage 2 and the audio hardware inside the Mega-Drive.

    • @senorfro
      @senorfro 2 года назад +1

      @@moy_moy85 They're meh, at best. Hit sounds need to have that snap or pop when something is hit to have a satisfying sound. I'd also love to see a video on SOR3. That was a time where a lot of American publishers made changes to games to make them harder. The speculation is that they wanted to make people play them for longer so they couldn't finish them during a rental. In this case, they made the default difficulty of SOR3 the hard difficulty of Bare Knuckle 3. Sega of America also feared that people would look at screenshots of SOR3 and think that it looked the same as the last one, so they swapped the colors of the main roster's clothes. They also added clothing to some of the women and removed the homosexual character to avoid controversy. Remember, this was not that long after Senators freaked out over the violence and sexuality of Night Trap of all things..

    I am behind on these videos because I'm so busy. Unlike most youtube where I can play it in the background while I do other things, I have to give your content my undivided attention because of its sheer quality. Thanks for doing this stuff.

    That was my first game for the Sega Genesis. I played the hell out of it. When they announced Streets of Rage 4 you couldn't imagine how excited I was. That game is a true love letter and I can't wait for the day that a video like this surfaces for the making of Streets of Rage 4. I could only imagine some of the hurdles the company had to go through to make this game happen. Thank you for this video. I enjoyed every moments of it!

    The youtube algorithm is doing this channel dirty. This channel is great, just like DYKG, the new algorithm messes up gaming documentary type channels. 😢😭

    Amazing video! A real throwback to that era. Only thing missing was mentioning Final Fight and Double Dragon. I can't believe Koshiro didn't look at those games very closely during the development of this game. Those were THE big franchises in the beat em up genre.

    Great documentary. Streets of Rage saga has something very special, in every game they bring something new, the first one with the team tactics, the second one with new attacks and a character who can run and the third one (very underrated in my opinion), the 3 star system, special attacks with weapons, 3 different endings, two different final levels and the harder of the three games.
    Story of Thor, amazing game.

    All I can say is thank you for doing what you do and it's its own class, style, story, time, and creativity. Your work should be protected to treasured. Even though that this is my opinion, I really wished that you didn't delete the first Streets of Rage 2 video, that should be kept too because it's history.

    technical excellence. the way you condensed the information as effectively as entertainingly is simply IMPRESSIVE! (especially the music bits)
    the video length fits this more compressed style, but it would still be VERY interesting to see what you'd do in an hour long format; seems like you're slowly heading in that direction as well.
