Peter was my Doctor. In the end, he embodied the character beautifully and really made the role his own. Really miss him, his TARDIS Team, Missy, and these stories. Who else agrees?

I think his actual episode quality wasn't *the* best but dear god did they pull off his character development! He got to have such a coherent arch across his 3 seasons and I love to see how he matures across his run. Easily the best development of a doctor in my mind, makes him so interesting!

Those final words are so fitting. Not only for Peter Capaldi but also for Steven Moffat as those are the final pieces of dialogue he wrote. Everything after the regeneration was Chibnall.

Gabriel Halmich it works through regeneration energy. When a timelord is about to die the regeneration energy repairs their body by rewriting every cell in their body. This causes them to look different and their rewritten brain cells then causes then to change personalities

The Eleventh Hour starts with Eleven hanging out of the doors and trying to climb back in, while Twice Upon a Time ends with Thirteen being thrown clear out the doors, hah. I think she gets justifiably pissed off when that happens.

Loved the fact this regeneration was filled with acceptance and hope. It made a nice change to the overly emotional farewells and gave Peter a wonderful send off in true 12th Doctor fashion!

I’ve always wondered if there’s a reason why s/he’s always regenerated in a moving Tardis (at least in the reboot show, pretty sure Four was on solid ground) - maybe regeneration within the time vortex gives the Doctor no real fixed point in time as to when the change takes place, something like that?

Yeah, I’m thinking in the new generation of Doctors he maybe got concerned about enemies tracing him on his timeline to the point of regeneration and manipulating him and/or the TARDIS at what is their most vulnerable points. Two of the last four regenerations have been alone and the other two in front of those the Doctor trusted completely. So yeah, I think it’s an act of caution on the Doctor’s part.

@@TheJadedJames Her performance was at times cringe, her line delivery wasn't perfect (Kerblam man being a prime example), she overacted in a lot of scenes and you just couldn't take her seriously. The Doctor should ALWAYS command the screen, all eyes on him but Jodie just didn't have that screen presence as her predecessors did her gender had nothing to do with it as Jo Martin was more the Doctor in a few episodes than Jodie was in 5 years.

Definitely think that was part of the plan. And also to truly extend support to Jodie herself because he knew she’d appreciate it as he has expressed the same appreciation to David/Matt for doing that for him. It’s a unique role that only another individual who’s played the Doctor can truly understand. I think it’s really classy how they all stick together like that.

I just really hope they dont write the Doctor like most other female main characters where everyone constantly underestimates them because theyre a female then they surprise them by doing something incredible. I’ve come to the conclusion that this is my favourite regeneration of New Who. Twelve's speech to his future self, the music (particularly the reprise post-regen), the lighting and the direction are just incredible. I love how it builds and builds and then after regeneration, at first we only see snippets of Thirteen, the ring falling, the Tardis console reflected in her eyes, really beautiful stuff from Rachel Talalay. I love it for what it is and also for how it is realised, what a stunning piece of TV. 💖

He has entertained me, been my role model and I love everything. He is the perfect Doctor and nothing can change my mind. What an ending. But Jodie will be great and I give her my best wishes. Murray's frequent use of The Doctor's Theme S1 in this episode is like him returning to his roots, coming full-circle. That was the first motif he ever composed for the show and has been carried through until the end of his musical reign.
Peter was truly an excellent Doctor.
For me Capaldi is up there with one of the best doctors of all time and this scene certifies that. Beautifully acted and beautifully written, a more than fitting ending for such a brilliant doctor...

Completley agreed. Ive commented above that for me he is the one NuWho doctor who is different. You see sides to his doctor that others have never attempted too or have successfully portrayed. One of the things he has done better than anyone is deliver that crucial monologue. Capturing his audience and making them feel every single emotion that he himself is waging war with. I think he off all the doctors I have grown up with is the most like the doctor. The classic doctor.
I sadly found him one of the worst doctor's because how non doctor he acts, like Sonic sunglasses are retarded.

Not gunna lie when I saw her in capaldis clothes I was like nah I aint sure then a second later when she says "oh brilliant" I just thought that's still the doctor. No matter what body male or female that's the doctor. And as someone who was strongly against it I have turned and now realise it's needed. She's gunna be a fantastic incarnation.

when they first announced peter capaldi as the 12TH DR i was pretty disappointed because I tough "why an older man" and he didnt look friendly at the time but after watching him through his journey he has become my 2nd favorite doctor. he had that unique badassery that no dr has had and how hewas caring but brave and cool

I’m going to change my opinion for this time.When tenant left I got incredibly sad thinking as if Matt Smith can live up the legacy of David tenant,but then Matt Smith ended up being my favorite doctor and when Capaldi came in I almost teared up because of how much I liked smith as the doctor,but after watching a few episodes of him,I ended up loving Capaldi(not more than Smith though ha).So now instead of getting sad,I’m going to hope for the best for Jodie🤗🤗

At first I didn't really like the presence of jodie whittaker and didn't like the fact that Peter capaldi was regenerating but the regeneration scene put lots of different emotions in my head and jodie whittaker first entrance just made me change my mind about her now i can't wait for series 11

Looking back to this after Jodie, it feels amazing and it fits so well, Jodie really did own up to everything Peter said, “run fast, laugh hard, be kind”

I love the way that Moffat’s final penned lines are effectively wishing the new Doctor and production team well. “Laugh hard. Run fast. Be kind. Doctor, I let you go“ is a perfect way to hand over the reigns. Basically saying “over to you, have fun with this.”

RTD WAS being gracious. He told Tennant's doctor's end perfectly. That's a Doctor that didn't want to go and neither did his team, nor did Tennant want to go. It's beautifully poetic. But eventually, one must let go, so they did.

George Daugherty Really made the audience vitriolic towards Moffat and Matt Smith before Series 5 aired though.
It felt more like a series finale - with Tennant's big goodbye tour, standing around all mopey. I'd have to say the best New Who transition was Eccleston into Tennant. Capaldi to Whittaker could've been less drawn out, and I think Smith' to Capaldi would've been better if it was shortened up as well - I did like the bowtie drop though.
Well the 9th doctors goodbye was an acceptance, the 10th's was "ITS NOT FAIR WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE ME" although he did just save the world at that point

It’s a very demanding role. Not just filming, but promo, interviews, merch etc. It’s all encompassing. Very restrictive if you want to do other things too.
