RIP Meatloaf, his name, for a while was Robert Paulson. To "Best friends who share everything and have a unique connection". You nailed it early!
Thumbs up for Opus
In death..... a member of Project Mayhem..... has a name.....his name is Robert Paulson..... his name is Robert Paulson.....
@@JuandeFucaU his name was Robert Paulson…. Heh
A true master, and one of the most underrated rockers of all time
He was talented, but the guy didn't have a single brain cell, in his head. He was an anti-vaxxer that died of Covid, I don't have time to feel sorry for people that dumb. All the dumbass had to do was take a few shots, and he'd still be here. Sometimes, idiots die, that's life. He won't be the last one. Natural Selection, the question is how many people did he take with him using his fame as a platform to spread nonsense?
@5:50, ""star 69'd you" refers to dialing *69, which was how you would call back the last number that called you, back when they had land-based telephone lines. In the states, at least. The other well known star code was *72 to turn off your caller ID so the next call you made would appear to be a private number, and *73 to enable caller ID, for those who had private numbers to start with. I suppose those terms have dropped out of the public dialog.
A clue as to who Tyler really is, the payphone has a label somewhere that says it does not accept incoming calls, so "Tyler" couldn't have phoned back...
we had star 69 in Canada too btw.
REM had a hit song with that name.
Star 80 was about a Canadian Playboy Playmate.
and Star 98.3 is a radio station in Chilliwack, BC.
Lol, that was funny.
i think the caller id block still works on cell phones
*67 was something too
"For some reason I thought of my first fight with Tyler" This movie is amazing the second time when you pick out all those little details
Yeah it's like noticing all the changes to Hill Valley California from the opening of BTTF1 and the credits starting on the third one that you missed the first time (the first one is when he gets back to 1985 the ledge doc broke on the clocktower is there when the helicopter flies by, followed by the Mall's new name. The very last I've caught was Eastwood Ravine railroad crossing when he gets home from 1885. Not sure if the "You're Fired" fax counts or not.)
One of my favorites in this movie is "I still can't think of anything." Followed by, "Ah flashback humor."
Agreed. My favorite has to be the payphone outside the condo, when Tyler calls back after getting called when the condo blows up...the camera zooms in on the pay phone and you can clearly see "no return calls" on it. It'll spoil the whole movie if you catch it the first time. I didn't. 👍
@@texantompaine4509 Wow I watched this movie countless times and never caught that!
I know this, because Tyler knows this
One of my fav movies of all time. 1999 was one of the best years for movies ever...the year of the "plot twist" with "Fight Club", "The Matrix", and "The Sixth Sense". Great reaction!
@8:24, I laughed so hard. “They are best friends and share everything” 😂🤣😂🤣
LITERALLY lol
"They are so different, but somehow they have this special connection". Heh, exactly. Up there among the best movie twists of all time, because it doesn't just come out of nowhere. There are a lot of hints throughout the whole movie. When he's beating himself up in his boss's office: "For some reason, I thought about my first fight with Tyler." Another one I didn't notice until several viewings: after the car crash, Tyler gets out of the passenger side of the car to pull Edward Norton out from the driver's side.
Also, RIP Meatloaf. His name was Robert Paulson.
My favorite is "If you wake up at a different time in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?" And the camera pans over and shows Tyler for the first time in the movie.
@@mikgus yeah, that's a good one too. So many great lines.
Tyler : Would you like to finish her off?
Marla: Who are you talking to?
The first rule of Dasha of Russia : Like the video and turn on alerts.
the second rule of Dasha of Russia is: LIKE THE VIDEO AND TURN ON THE ALERTS!
and if this is your first time watching...you HAVE to comment!
"I sixty-nined you?" Star sixty-nine. At one time, dialing *69 would call back that last number that called you. I have no idea if this is still a thing.
*69 still works between land lines in the states
Fighting soothes a great deal of frustration, releases adrenaline, endorphins and testosterone. Makes you feel alive, makes your problems feel small, they melt away, gives you more confidence. That's why the fight club was so addictive to so many depressed, frustrated middle class men
Yes. The book goes into detail about that. How "Fight Club isn't about winning or losing."
Who's the "you" you're talking about? Clearly women wouldn't be included in that "you" because this is something only men can truly understand. You should be more specific when making those arguments, instead of using the universal plural "you" pronoun.
@@renx81 it was an explanation not a argument and for the most part yes your right but there are woman with unusually high testosterone that would get it to but it wont be that many, basically look at the type of women in competitive MMA and in the UFC
The unified 'His name is Robert Paulson' line literally gave me chills. Creepy, horrific, and touching all at the same time.
especially when he's going past the one background room and they're in there chanting it
I’m glad you got to enjoy this film. It’s one of the most unique and bravest piece of cinema ever made. The kind of film that would never get made today. I love this film for what it is and for what it represents.
Heck, it barely got made when it did.
"When your split personality tells you that you're insane, that is definitely a bell for something being wrong." 😆
@L2F Sim Training Yes, me, myself, and I are often united so we're clearly sane!!!!
8:53 "i love secret doors" 🤗🤗
i love the way she says this, a mixture between the enthusiasm of a child and a love one fells for chocolate cake!
Chuck Palahniuk the author of fight club has some other really good books. One of them called Choke was also made into a movie which is less well known but also good. Keep up the great reactions Dasha ❤
I didn’t know they made it into a movie!
@@coolcustomer13 yeah they got Sam Rockwell to play the main character and Angelica Houston to play his crazy mom. You should check it out
Chuck is a God. His books are so messed up.
"This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time." I started having trouble with insomnia when I was in high school and it has only gotten worse over the years. This movie showed me that I wasn't the only one going through it. It has nearly bottomed me out a couple of times, but I'm still standing. We only have a certain number of minutes. Use yours wisely.
Stop taking all meds, they're all poison
I love how quickly you picked up on the "Single Frame" of Tyler spliced into frame. ... and Marla stealing clothes!!
The Eighth and final rule gave Dasha goosebumps!!
You must read the book.
"I'd fight Ghandi" ... is a beautiful statement.
8:16 they DO share everything! 🙂
8:25 they DO have a special connection!
just 20 minutes in and dasha figured it out, she just didn't know it yet. i'm telling you, she's got special abilities ⚠️
This is one of the best movie of all time. The influence and everything else about it is so amazing. Plus when you watch it a second time knowing the twist the beginning is so interesting and everything makes so much more sense. Great reaction.
5:44 - Back in the day, when you "star 6-9'd" someone on the phone (*69), it meant you could call back the person who just called you without dialing their number, it would just reverse the call. What YOU thought he said . . . well, that's something else entirely different. 😉
One of my favorite all-time films. I'm sure a lot of people feel that way.
Hahahahaha "I 69'd you?". My abs hurt now. Thank you for that hahaha
It's weird how one can see both evil and good in the same place. You are definitely part of the good, Dasha. Love from a sister in Norway
I just love listening to you talk. And your are so expressive during the movies. It's why I love watching your movie reactions. Great job! Keep up the good work!
Your attention to detail is highly impressive in the films you watch. You tend to instantly catch things that I only see after multiple viewings.
Brilliant storytelling. It's just a shame you only get to see it for the first time once. Here's hoping if I ever have amnesia, they show me Fight Club again. 😄
The Tyler glitches were noticed in the theater too, but brushed off as the cigarette burns that "Jack" and Tyler explained during the movie.
The movie influenced me very much in my youth, as I was 20 when this was released. Perfect age for it.
"They have a special bond"
"They have a deep connection"
...
Your brain was working out the solution in the background. haha
Awesome movie!
i really like your content, you start quick, short intro and straight to the point...nice^^
Great reaction Dasha! I was just about to go to sleep when the notification came for this so I had to watch it right away. It was worth missing some sleep to watch. I'm glad you finally did this movie because it is a good one. Another good movie you might enjoy is Red Heat. I'm looking forward to Raiders Of The Lost Ark on Friday. Keep up the great work.
You missing sleep to watch this is somehow very fitting😏
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 Yeah I guess it kind of is
Fight Club and Dead Poets Society are must watch movies for young men growing up imo
Can't wait to see your reaction Dasha! :)
One of my favorite movies and one of the most innovative movie that came out just before the new millennium along with Matrix in the same year 1999.
Yeah, the 90's are very good for movies!
" You met me at a very strange time in my life."
You Don't Say!
😆😆😆😆
Still a great flick.
I'm so happy you watched this movie!! IT's a must-see, in my honest opinion. It's timeless. Maybe it's even more relevant now.
Really..?? I loved this movie as a teenager, but I don´t think it aged very well... I mean, all the talk about "not having a great war to fight" and looking for thrills because you are basically "bored of a monotone life" doesn´t really apply to people who grew up in the mist of a bunch of economical crises, worldwide pandemics, refugee crises, all out wars... If you know what I mean xDxD The movie is still great, tho (and the book is even better).
I agree. Consumerism has become so radicalized since the late 90’s. There aren’t cigarette burns in movies anymore which is a bummer, but for me this movie is an excellent example of how unnecessary smart phones are. (I mean now they’re pretty necessary, but the late 90’s were such an awesome time to be alive, even without them).
Kinda wish technology just like… stopped around 2000 or so.
@@gabrielp9646 all those problems existed in the late 90’s. There were wars, refugees, pandemics (not covid, but that’s an as of 2020 event) etc etc. Especially economic crisis. The 24/7 news cycle and social justice movement wasn’t such a prominent focus of society at the time.
Really the focus of the film is about human connection, and radical materialism. Both super relevant to life in the states today.
Really I felt the only way the book/movie is handicapped is that it is a pretty uniquely American story, but …. Dasha and other international reactors seem to get it🤷🏻♂️.
@@RustinChole Aaahm... I remember the late 90s perfectly, I was there. Trust me, it was nothing comparable to this xDxD
@@gabrielp9646 I was there too🤷🏻♂️🙄 RATM Radiohead punk bands and Noam Chomsky still had PLENTY to rage against. Hell I still haven’t been beaten that bad by cops since I was in the WTO Battle Of Seattle. The late 90’s were a crazy time.
Sure. It’s crazier now but just because the crazy is amplified doesn’t change the point, ie; real human connections vs radical materialism/consumerism.
5:48 - "I 69'd you?" LOL!!!!! That was so funny! Back in the day when we all had "land lines", if someone called you, you could dial *69 on your phone. It would call them back. I completely forgot about that. When you asked if he "69'd him", I had to laugh out loud.
this is my fave movie! it's how i got into movies and i learned screenplay formatting from the script and everything :) super jealous that you get to watch it for the first time
you're getting good with english. I love your small improvements with each video
The acid scene is part of transformation, purging through pain, think training, exercise boot camps, military, fraternities. Changing through physical pain for a belief and cause. That burn is scarification, the brand, the tattoo, the sash, the patch on the vest for those most devout. Crude but same principle.
For the sake of trying to get the world a little more interested in science, please please please don't think I'm trying to talk down to you, I really just love science, but he used an extremely strong base. It's not an acid, it works the exact opposite way that an acid does. The end result is the same, dead cells. A very simple way to think about it is that acids want to give protons to molecules, and bases want to take protons from molecules. If the number of protons changes, the chemical completely changes, and your cells can only exist with the chemicals they're made of.
@@ananthropomorphictalkinggo6641 thank you, now that I look over the scene at no point do they say acid he says chemical burn. Now I know.
I think every boy I knew growing up tried to start their own fight club after watching this.
So f'n iconic! Those rules about Fight Club - dang, absolute 🔥🔥🔥
"Something glitched." Oh how right you were. 😁
I fucking love your reactions and personality. keep up the good work, Dasha
Fincher does another great film with Michael Douglas and Sean Penn called The Game. It has a great WTF moment as well.
RIP and long live Meat Loaf (September 27, 1947 - January 20, 2022), aged 74
You will always be remembered as a legend.
Damn he was old. You'd think he died when he was 26 or something with how big he was and everyone saying how bad meatloaf is for your body.
Fun fact when Brad Pitt first got punched in that scene where he wanted him to hit him first that was actually a real punch and his reaction of getting hit in the ear was real 🤷♂️ But I guess it wasn’t worth it if people still think it looks fake 😂
I think its just because the angle and it was kind of a limp wristed punch. So its kind of understandable.
I must have left the rules on the copier.
If you found this what would you do?
Dasha, "JOIN"
THat's why you're the best Dasha. YOu advise anyone you meet to join fight club. HILARIOUS!!
hahaha love the reaction, I saw this move in Emeryville when it came out 🤠
great reaction and i love the time you put into the thumbnail they are always spectacular.
О, Даша добралась до "Бойцовского клуба"! Смотрим!
I would like to throw in two movies, maybe some of your Patreons want you to see them too:
Swordfish and Lucky Number Slevin
It was so perfect getting Brad Pitt to play Tyler Durden. He’s the cool, sexy guy the narrator, and later the members of project mayhem, wish they could be. And in 1999, that was Brad Pitt. Lol and then at the end when he goes ultra cool with the fur coat and oakleys.
I love the part when Tyler and the Narrator meet on the plane. The Narrator says that they have the same briefcase, and Tyler just smirks like, "Yeah, no shit."
Its amazing she noticed Tylers splices at the beginning without seeing the movie before.
This is literally one of my fave movies ever. I used to watch it when I was like 12-14 ... back when it first came out. We used to watch it every weekend. Great choice.
29:54 that right there is why Dasha is a great reviewer. She catches the little details about the story. So good! 😊
18:23 i love dasha's laugh ❤️😆
i'm reminded of one of the Winnie the Pooh characters but i don't know which one.
Adorable. 🤗

Before I got diagnosed with sleep apnea, I thought I just had insomnia and this movie became my spirit animal. It is the best depiction of how the world feels when you don't get enough sleep for months at a time.
The whole psychology behind split/multiple personalities is fascinating to me and this is a unique and mind blowing depiction of it. Every case is different, but it's still unbelievable how powerful the mind can be. I also have to say Edward Norton and Brad Pitt give such amazing and entertaining performances in this film which is crazy considering they are essentially playing two sides of the same coin, so to speak.
I have seen people comparing this to Tyler being the Mr. Hyde to the Narrator's Dr. Jekyll. Like his shadow self, which is in a vast contrast to what the Narrator presents himself to be like to the outside world. Since he pushed Tyler so much into the shadow he took over him. He didn't own the savage beast within his mind so the beast took over him.
I believe it " glitches in the beginning because Edward Norton's " character has insomnia & He is so tired. That's my theory anyway. I really enjoyed your laughter when They pick a fight with a stranger. That scene with the guy shooting the water hose at the priest cracks Me up every time. Too funny LOL ! 1 of my All-time favorite movies !
Great reaction. Your thoughts and opinions are intelligent and well thought-out. More please. ;)
“You met me at a very strange time in my life “ best closing line in a movie ever.
One of my favorites reactions by Dasha is when she says "okay..." She's engaged and eager to hear what's said next.
I love the different reaction men and women have to the fights in fight club, the women are always like “I don’t get it” guys are like “dude I’m totally down”
Thanks for the video Dasha
My personal hell will be an Ikea style designed apartment.....
"They share everything..." Eh-heh-haha yeah. That line. That line is great.
Dasha, your reactions are priceless.
For a pre-covid world when it was made...we can learn a lot from this film. Maybe not the violence, but know how to kick ass still.
The author of Fight Club also wrote a comic book called Fight Club 2.
This movie is a masterpiece. You need to watch it several more times as you will notice new things every time. So layered and clever. What the glitch at the start was, the bit where he talks about waking up as someone else and the camera pans to follow Tyler, the film reel "changeover" - the movie goes on and the audience has no idea, why he thinks about his first fight with Tyler when he's beating himself up. Etc etc. So. Damn. Good. One of the best films ever made.
Dasha missed the magnets in front of the VHS tapes at Blockbuster
Welcome to Dasha Club.
First rule of Dasha Club, ✍
You don't talk about Dasha Club 💅🤫 👊🏾💢🤛🏾🤜🏾💫👏🏾💪🏾🙌🏾🤝🏾
Awrite! Fight Club is Awesome! Oh shit, I mentioned Fight Club. Dang did it again!😁
First rule of Dasha Club: nobody gets to leave Dasha Club!
One thing I always forget is how fucking cool Brad Pitt looked in this movie.
But only he can pull that off.
Or Troy "We are lions!" or some shit. He always got them pumped up cheerleader speeches right before guys do some crazy ass shit. Gets ya hyped to enjoy and mayhem.
Hi dasha..thx for your reaction
I reccomend "American History X" great movie also starring Edward Norton and great naration throughout
The Score with Edward Norton and Robert DeNiro is a good watch too
"In the world I see - you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty carpool lane of some abandoned superhighway."
Sound great as a dream but give up all this because you wont stop buying coffee tables? lol
15:31 "... achieve?!" 🗣⁉️
i don't think i've heard her voice at that high end before
My other personalities have been telling me I am crazy for years. They are the crazy ones.
another amazing reaction!
Great reaction to a really good movie :o). Another David Fincher movie I recommend is "The Game" (1997).
Thank you for your reaction.
In Canada *69 is last call return (basically calls back the last number that called) and *67 is to block your Caller ID to show up as a Private Number.
I didn't see if anyone pointed this out, but here's random fact of the movie. How he was working in the theater and was inserting stuff into the movies, they did in this movie (I'd see on ur own not on reactions). Everytime u see the screen flash, pause it at that point and ull see stuff inserted. Most are harmless, but the one that's in the explosion at the end is explicit.
It's been suggested the scene with the retail clerk who wanted to be a veterinarian is also the origin of the Saw franchise. Which... yeah, maybe?
3:44 the expressions dasha makes 🤣
2 more David Fincher films I would recommend are Gone Girl (2014) & The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011)
This movie blew my mind. Great book too
The best part about this movie is that it gets better with multiple viewings as you keep noticing small things that lead up to the big reveal. I am Jacks RUclips comment.
Like the pro Luinix penguin “slide”
Such a all time great!!! PERIOD...
You should also check out "Gone Girl" by David Fincher. Different from Fight Club, and a great movie!
On phones, you used to be able to press *69 and it would call back the last number that called you. This was before cell phones and before most people had caller id. So when he said he "69'd you", he had dialed *69.
2:55 dasha likes confident women 👍🏼
Love the song at the end
Great choice. May I suggest Your Name, Demolition Man, Big Fish and The Mummy?
FINAAAAALLLLLLLLLY - a woman that notices the romantic ending. For me the most romantic ending ever... yeeeaaaah - I know. Also one of the weirdest endings ever. But still... its just romantic.
The relationship between Marla and the Protagonist is definitely between two persons with psychological issues.
But one of the points of the movie is: Almost everybody in the world has psychologicl issues. The question is if you are able to face them - and get help. In the beginning the Protagonist did not get help - the doctor explicitly refused to help him. This also is a crazy situation in our world. Many people need help and dont get it even if they ask for it.
The movie is on many layers a deep critique about our crazy world where crazy people... are just the normal case. Especially those who think they are completely sane... are often really insane ;)
Thanks like always for you very interesting reaction.
Wich you all the best and hope your channel will exist for a long time.
Something Tyler is right about: the best meal I've ever had was breakfast the next morning after being robbed at shotgun-point the night before.
Problematic to try a open a restaurant with the aforementioned theme.
13:38 ...."I like to thank the Academy"....Then Will Smith show up and smack his face.....
